In my state we have similar divine performance called Theyyam. We use more Red colour than yellow. My distant family temple hosts these event every year, this year it was in February and i went to see it. Its epic and a treat for the eyes.

The concept is to invoke the diety and summon them in the performers body from the temple idol. Usually a particular deity is consecrated in a temple by various rituals (its a huge process which take time, place, rituals etc under consideration for consecration of a deity). Each deity is associated with a particular Chakra in the human body, so meditating in the temple is said to open our chakras thus attaining enlightenment. These dieties are meant to guide us in the spiritual path we take. So in this type of spiritual art the performers make their body suitable by following specific diets and rituals for the deity to enter the body and converse with the local people. Performers say their Consciousness is like in a dream state while the deity take over their body.

Background of the Kantara Movie is based on Kambala Buffalo Race on the mud and Bhoota Kola Folk Dance, practiced across Tulu Nādu Region/Coastal Districts (Dakshina Kannada and Udupi) of Karnataka State and Kasaragod District in Kerala State in South of India. The Bhoota-Kola ritual is usually performed during the months of December to May. People worship Varaha-Incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Local Farmer Community gather to protect their land, and the practice has been continuing for the last 300 to 500 years. The dance is highly stylized and performed as part of 'Bhootaradhana' or worship of the local deities worshipped by the Tulu language speaking population from Tuluva Community. It has influenced Yakshagana folk theatre. Būta kōlā is closely related to Theyyam Dance of neighboring Malayalam-speaking populations of Kerala State in Southern India. Kantara is undoubtedly worth watching movie with excellent background score, screenplay, cinematography, acting, production quality and direction.

Having practically zero experience with Indian film I watched Kantara, and I was sincerely blown away by the performances and the production and the moral of the story. Honestly, one of the most powerful films I’ve seen.
I think its time for you guys to react to classical Indian dances. Suggestion; "Muddugare Yasoda Bharatanatyam dance" Channel: Sridevi Nrithyalaya. Classical dancers of India are very talented, in earlier days they were directly casted as movie actors without auditions because of their talent and can pull off any roles with ease. They are trained to convey the stories of Mythology through dance.
