JimOriginal all in the games. Realistically the Russian Navy would have been entirely destroyed before leaving Europe. It would have had to pass by several NATO countries which field navies capable of crippling or annihilating Russia’s Atlantic Squadron. Even if they survived they would only have the capacity to transport about 50,000 troops after a several week round trip. Those 50,000 men would never be able to establish a beachhead and last until reinforcements arrive. All this is also assuming the US does nothing but considering the largest naval base in the world is in Virginia Russia would not come close to US soil
Could you imagine being a wartime general and being told you have a blank check? With the US Military? The absolute power in reality wielded by that man is lacking respect described just with words.
SavageChewBaka a blank check has no value on it meaning that whoever gets it can use ANYTHING from whoever writes the check. In this case it’s the US government giving Shepherd whatever he needs to kill Makarov. Essentially everything the government has is his from military to intel
I was kind of hoping hoping that they would give the SEALs their own unique models for this remaster. They still share the same randomly generated models of the Rangers in their UCP uniforms.
I guesa they used the same Game Codes to genwrate models albeit they're better this time. The thing is, the same game code means they can't just add new mods without finding the respective scripts and adding new ones.
4:35 In the original MW2 that line was never subtitled but and you can still hear it in the original just not that loud. What surprises me the most is the additional animations which greatly adds detail and pieces of dialogue that we may have heard before in the original MW2

That's a lot more than just simple *"dedication"*. Especially when what is essentially your superior telling you to safe yourself first and you choose not to.
The flare sequence at the end is a reference to the climax of the movie The Rock in that the protagonist must launch a flare to abort an incoming air strike.
@Christopher Alvarez Actually, broken arrow refers to an accident involving nuclear weapons/supplies (losing a nuclear warhead, a nuke going off accidentally, etc)
Harry Proctor that is the official meaning of “broken arrow,” but in pop culture it seems to have evolved into a distress call to scramble all available air assets for a unit about to be overrun, and I have no idea where that came from
The proof that the sound design and atmosphere is so perfect, is I can literally listen to this at work while I type in numbers on a spreadsheet and be able to fully picture the scene. Granted, I’ve played this mission so many times, but still it’s a test to how important music, effects, dialogue, and atmosphere ambience really are.
Imagine this was your first time playing MW2, after a bombastic escape from a gulag, you’re suddenly caught off guard by a very realistic EBS message, you start wondering what’s going on. The screen fades back and you’re in some dark and dingy bunker, the muffled sound of explosions shake the place every few seconds, you see dozens of American soldiers in the same bunker as you, some injured while some quietly focused in their work. You eventually get up to the surface and the first thing you see is a very damaged Washington Monument, and suddenly the realisation kicks in as to where you are. And then the usual mission title finally appears, as if to confirm your assumptions. You’re in the capital city of the United States, and it’s in a state of complete chaos. God I love that short moment
Even worse: Imagine getting this in your recommended list on RUclips and you've never played MW2. your just scrolling through and you see "battle of Washington DC"
I’m not an anti american or anything like that but imagine if they made a game like this but you’re an Iraqi soldier or something, imagine how terrified they must have felt knowing the american war machine was gonna get them
Still my favorite mission in cod history. The atmosphere, music, and everything is just perfect. From waking up in the shelter of wounded, right up to the Washington square radio operator freaking out for help as you try and down as many helicopters and tanks that you can. Amazing mission
Looking back at this mission... Price really knew what he was doing (even though I thought it was a huge gamble). Creating an EMP effect would've disabled both US and RU equipment. It would have affected especially the US medevac air vehicles, which would've gone down too presumably. Scary if you think about it, kinda like in CoD4 where the USMC helos went down due to Al-Asad's nuke. But, a few medevac casualties were worth the price, maybe? Since the US eventually got the upper hand because of home-field advantage? (Plus a guy named Ramirez and the invincible Foley and Dunn, hahaha)
Thomas Coburn He was a dick only to Shepard. Shepard wanted to be seen as the war hero. He needed DC destroyed and the Americans defeated there to get the whole nation rallied under him. Price saving what’s left of DC with the EMP kinda screw it up.
So your saying that the whole situation was fucked no matter what if Shepard was planning to get DC to fall so he can later look like the hero for the US big comeback? So Price did what he can do with the EMP so the American's can have a fighting chance to repeal the RU forces without retreat?

With the way MW 2022 is going, we can expect they redone this in the new timeline. Maybe not a full blown war but something like Russian incursion in Alaska as a revenge for something the US was blamed for which it did not do. The post credit scene in MWII confirmed Makarov as the next villain so this even more likely
Probably my favorite section of the campaign, didn’t appreciate them as a 9 year old but now as a 22 year old I think they’re what made the game special. Took Activision a lot of balls to put that into the game, which is why the scaled it back in mw3.

Casualties grunting, screaming and coughing in their own blood. Hearing the medics asking for assistance and reassuring their patients just wrenches your gut. Make more war games in America
@@lalallama171 well too bad because in the game russian infantry are literally opening fire on american civilians, russian tanks shooting HE on a crowded civilian evac site sooo...I don't think both sides are going help each other in this situation
Nobody who actually knows what they were talking about ever thought that. Not even during the height of the Cold War did they think that about the Soviet military, and then were a lot more competent and capable than the Russian army.
Nobody really ever believed that Russia could invade the US. We just didn't think that they were as incompetent as they turned out to be as demonstrated in Ukraine
Ramirez i want you to go Titan Saturn’s moon and get the oil then come here in 30 mins! Then I want you to supply the whole damn army in 3 mins tops! Then kill the whole army! You got that! Also we are to lazy and we can’t help you! Go go go!
Apart from the obvious visual uplift the game has received, some of the new animations (like when Ramirez gets knocked down by the RPG hitting the helicopter, to actually being able to see his hands on the machine gun of the helo) and the pain & groan sounds the protagonists make during the first person cinematics really do a lot for the immersion and intensity of this over the top campaign, which MW2 was my favorite of them all. I can't wait to replay this game again and see it in its full deserved glory.
2:06 Small detail I never noticed in my several campaign playthroughs, you can see the SEALs Overlord was informing you about ziplining into the building on the top right corner.

Osmar Castillo in veterans difficulties?luckily I have passed that part with less deaths in the remastered version as well. Looks like they reduced the difficulty a little bit. The original was a real mental torment for me lol
This level, more than any other one, made this game for me. I remember the awe when you run up the ramp and find out that it's the capital being shot to sh.t. I still, years later have to have my mind right to play COD:MW II because the feel of the levels and the story just hard hitting and realistic. Who ever wrote for this needed to be awarded. @4:30 Cpl Dunn says “that was the frickin’ Capitol Building man” then a few seconds later you see the Capitol Dome in the distance. The building your in is actually the Herbert C. Hoover building of the Department of Commerce. :)
I think the reason why the battle in Civil War wasn’t on the same scale as this was because the entire battle only lasted one night, opposed to this battle which would’ve been like this for days. Hell, it wasn’t much of a battle in Civil war, just a straight up invasion. You had an army of people who hated their government against a few fight or die soldiers and some secret service.
@@Matt-wb8ni I see your point, I suppose that was my expectation. I expected this film about a 2nd civil war to have the scale of multiple battles being held on a national scale. Like two opposing forces ready to die for what they believe. It didn’t feel like that in the film, it just felt like one small faction against the entire country
What was I liked about this scene wasn’t the harsh brutality of the invasion, but the realism of the warfare, particularly when they nuked the capital. I served in the military, and some equipment runs on electricity such as NVG’s, acogs, radio. And when the nuke was detonated, everything that runs on electricity runs into an emp. Nobody ever realizes how much of a difference it makes, and following the cutscene is just a fraction of the effects

The flare sequence at the end is a reference to the climax of the movie The Rock in that the protagonist must launch a flare to abort an incoming air strike.
Call of Duty references a lot of films and tv shows in their levels.
Is think the "broken arrow, broken arrow!" is a reference to the movie "We Were Soldiers".
But that's just a theory, a Game Theory.
@Christopher Alvarez Actually, broken arrow refers to an accident involving nuclear weapons/supplies (losing a nuclear warhead, a nuke going off accidentally, etc)
Harry Proctor that is the official meaning of “broken arrow,” but in pop culture it seems to have evolved into a distress call to scramble all available air assets for a unit about to be overrun, and I have no idea where that came from
The Rock starring Sean Connery and Nicolas Cage? Fucking legendary movie.
Man I definitely did not comprehend how heavy this campaign got as a kid

No he didn't he was a Dick for launching that Emp and that's why Shepherd betrayed him
Thomas Coburn He was a dick only to Shepard.
