Yeah, there's already precedent with the packaged IDW comic books and things like that. Why not include a matching character or themed battle card in the back of the toys? Heck, the DBZ CCG did this in the 90s when it was run by Score and they partnered with Irwin to put cards in with their action figures. Somehow Hasbro (who owns both the toy and card rights) didn't want, or think, to do that? The whole thing is just weird...
@@mikemarek6243 This isn't necessarily the case. There are a number of marketing strategies like bundling that they could have very easily implemented as they own the rights to both the cards and the toys. The thing is - they just didn't ever even attempt any of that. Including exclusive toys inside products like the Energon Edition boxed set would have increased demand as completionists would have picked it up lest they suddenly have an incomplete collection, etc. These practices tend to get pretty scummy as the point is to tap into FOMO but Hasbro does things like this with MtG all the time (limited time and/or numbered exclusive drops, etc).
Can confirm. Your videos were part of the driving force for myself getting into the game in the past few months. Sadly I purchased a bunch of things waiting in anticipation for the day when I could actually play in a local shop or tournament. So sad.

I do think y'all did a great effort in keeping something you care about alive and for that, you have my respect.
As you said: folks can still play and I’m sure they’re not going to pull unsold cards from the shelves. That said, it is a bummer that there won’t be new cards: I was just getting myself and my kids into this game.
Wossy, you made such awesome content and I never played in a tournament, and barely against other players other than my brother, but you made such fun content to build to. Im glad I got to play this game while new cards were still coming
Wizards of the Coast is the google of card games. Release a product and drop support two years later. Sigh. This game is what made me find your channel. My wife and I got real excited when we saw our local comic book shop selling some boosters as we love Transformers and went online to find a video to help us find out how to play. Get your house right, WotC, Transformers deserved better. When the wounds heal we might pick up another card game. For now, we go into mourning.
Thanks for all of your content, conversations, and everything else! I remember watching your "how to play" video when I first got into the game after the Wave 1 launch.
this was the game i played. my little gaming group got into this and for the most part loved it. i loved it from a collectors standpoint on top of a players standpoint. wish we could have gotten a 2 more sets (cybertron war trilogy completed and one final set to complete themes, get missing classic chars cards, etc). i work at my lgs, and most of the money earned there has gone into transformers over the last 2 years. this game will be missed.
Thank you for covering this. It is truly sad news. Just keeps happening when these huge companies kill great games when they don't deliver millions. I too believe if this was done by a smaller company it would still be going.
It might've engaged consumers better if the rarities weren't so borked... 7 (or more) boxes is a big ask for a player to get 1 of each character... and they'll have so much extra garbage after that. I personally believe that more businesses should follow the LCG model. Your game is not Magic. It WILL NOT beat Magic. So make it a self-contained, expandable board game and ride the casual market, unless your objective is to strip-mine the good will of people with an attachment to the franchise.
While I didn't get in on this game, I was always interested. I loved the concept of having all your fighters out right at the start of the game rather than relying on drawing them. Such a shame.
I miss it! This and KeyForge were basically the first games covered properly on the channel. Covered from the day of announcement til the day it went away :(
@@WossyPlaysI remember when I started watching your vids a little after the beginning, it feels like an eternity ago. You excited me with each new vid. After that, I’ll look into seeing what characters might be nice to toy around with.
@@WossyPlays Not sure if you knew but the game is still very much alive. We're up to Wave 10 now which has been released for playtesting. I'll agree, without this channel I probably wouldn't have got on board with the game but not only that, this channel kept me interested in the game as my LGS was slow in taking notice of its existence. I was all in on Transformers too; never before have I bought a box of boosters for any tcg but with this game I did every wave. Right now I'm seated next to my Titan Masters box, the first box where I pulled a super rare - Whirl - instead of having to find it separately. Really is a sad day. Thanks for all the work you put into driving the game forward, Wossy. Guess it's time to wait for Digimon - though it won't see the same level of dedication from me.
Wizards of the Coast strikes again! This is the second time I've experienced this. First it was with their MTG: Arena of the Planeswalkers board game. This is definitely the last Wizards of the Coast game I ever invest time and/or money into.
I constantly worry about KeyForge's future. I know they said they have planned up to Set 7 already, but that doesn't mean anything if the game doesn't sell with the sets before those. And from what I'm seeing on the KeyForge Vault site in terms of recent decks registered with Mass Mutation... it's honestly not looking good. If an official online KeyForge game by FFG and/or Asmodee isn't revealed within the year, I worry KeyForge will go the way of Transformers soon enough.
FFG is a much smaller company than wizards and KeyForge is the most money making thing they've ever done. Also, they own it outright. KeyForge isn't going anywhere for a long time.
If MM doesn't give it a massive boost, I can see Keyforge dying outside of US. Americans are just much more receptive to the "blind bag" nature of the game and it appears that KF products in most European countries just aren't priced fairly.
I dropped about $350 into this game after seeing your buying guide, even in the midst of the pandemic. I was excited to get a community started in my state, and I see this, and I'm like....welp....at least I have some dope ass art. Probably going to go for a master set of the game now since there were only five sets.
I truly loved this game played it with friends and family since it launched. Rip i will still play with whats out of course but I'm sad I won't ever get anything new
My friend and I wanted to get into this game. Is it possible now to get buy some a good amount despite them not making them anymore or should I just get into another tcg?
I really hope they try again with a new transformers game. One that tries a different model than magic or pokemon of having new sets about every quarter. Still surprised they never tried having the cards come with the toys. Or have an onlline version like other tcgs.
Sad news indeed, but just because there are no new cards, doesn't you have to quit playing. I intend to play as long as I can find someone to play with. 😁
Just when you thought 2020 couldn’t get any worse! I’d like to thank you wossy for your awesome coverage on this game. You were the one who introduced me to this great game and you were my number one for content on this game. This has become my favourite TCG I’ve played and I’m gutted this has happened. I do feel as they have might of jumped the gun canceling this as the Netflix series may of breathed new life into the game if it was successful. I’m also gutted they never released a Rodimus Prime card, or a beast era set with the maximals and predacons. Thank you again for all the quality content we have gotten from you, and the quality content still to come!
But there are... Just because the store you shop from never carried them, doesn't mean they don't exist. BCW even produced toploaders in appropriate size for characters AND titans, as well as a deckbox designed to hold toploaded character cards alongside regular ones.
You do know hasbro can still make the game seeing they own the rights. Wizards did Pokémon and gave up on the card game and Nintendo took over and still selling cards for the game. I don’t see how it’s the end we don’t know if hasbro will pick it up or not as a product. Still have a little hope.
I remember coming home after spending the last of my extra money on a couple cheapy Walmart booster packs around before wave two was released and the excitement that I felt when I pulled an nemesis prime
From a retailer's perspective, why would I ever carry a game that WoTC releases that is not Magic again in the future? They have shown it has a lifetime of two years tops and then they kill it. Not worth really investing in unless I know I can turn a profit with each box I purchase as a seller. I would never want to be stuck with cases and cases of sealed product for any of their product that isn't Magic and now they have a track record of this and retailers will never buy in again.
Very disappointing news, as a huge fan, and a steady player, I really hoped they could have last this troubled time out. The team was so dedicated to the product and the community. I would really like a great send of for this one, and I’m sure knowing my nearby community, there will be one.
This is such a good game. Sad it's going away! :( Thanks Ross for covering it! As far as WOTC goes, I'll make sure to never buy any of their products again. If it ain't Magic they won't keep it going! They suck.
Of course, Southern Hobby started blowing this out two weeks ago, meaning, they had insider information that the game was done. GTS still had it at regular pricing. So who at WoTC let Southern know that it was ending? Where is Rudy and Alpha Investments to investigate another WoTC insider trading fiasco?
Sad to see the news today on TF, my LGS never endorsed it, which kind of killed it instantly in my area. I even got a loot crate for Omega Supreme after your tip off, Cheers Wossy for really putting this on the radar, still got un-opened boxes of sets 1+2, never did get a game, I just loved the cards anyway so happy buying them
Wossy, like so many others have said, it was your video (Buyer's Guide) that ultimately got me to pull the trigger on trying out the game. I have not bought into a TCG since I ventured into Pokemon over a decade ago (still have all the cards from then) but I just never got into the dynmaic, maybe because I always just enjoyed the video games more at the time. This though, I could have seen myself getting a lot more into, with finding certain characters, and creating matchups. For example at the time of the announcement I was working on a deck to try and make the original Omega Supreme from the loot box work with having Warpath. Yes we talked about how that Omega was not entirely a great card, but the idea of coming up with a strategy was fun. Or trying to combine to favorite characters, just because well they were your favorite. For me it was Blaster and Jetfire.
I think the play dynamic was fun. If I were to have a hope it is maybe someone could turn this idea and art into a living card game (LCG) There has been a lot of recent success recently in the LCG arena (Fantasy Flight's Marvel Champions comes to mind, which you cover well) which could prove to be successful and still have the fun aspect of collecting transformers. Like starting with two versions of the core set one Autobot and on Decepticon and coming up with a fun dynamic to do PVP. Just a hope though at this point.
Anyway, just wanted to say thank you for all your video content on Transformers TCG, thank you for getting me to pull the trigger, and I hope one day in the future I will be making a comment on your channel with the announcement of a new transformers tabletop game.
You were my clear path to rules and everything new to this game. Thank you Wossy! I just hate that with Card games now a day it is like an NBA coach...if you are not winning championships your fired. This is how i feel about this game. When is top 10 a bad thing :(. I pray that another company picks this up and runs with it...if I had the money!!!!!!
Watching this video at the end of 2024, I’m sitting here like we should start a petition to bring this game back. This game was super fun and I started playing it again with my friends.
Sad to see it go, but not surprised tbh. Was not a great game to play casually with the pull rates being abysmal. I loved the game, but the only supplier in the area was Gamestop for a while, then nobody, then walmarts got packs but were 2-3 sets behind and never restocked newer sets :(
Well seeing as they didn't even sell the cards where I live let alone have any of the card places running any games I'm not surprised that they gave up on it. I bought 2 decks to get my friends to play but no support of the game here really killed their interest
Love the game! Super sad. Glad I discovered your channel through transformers. I will still be following you. Hope wizards gives GI Joe or he-man a shot. They would make good card games too.
This is.... terrible. Didn't understand why we didn't have rows of boosters and the decks in the retail stores... than we did. Think the large free characters in the boxes killed the retail single boosters for somewhere like Walmart... No it's not vain, Ross. You did help grow the game's fans base, the rules, and everything else. You (among others) helped bring us ALL together. Well, if you ignore my other videos... I do have videos on many homemade TF TCG characters that I created over the course from last Spring to current. I don't normally advertise myself... but there it is. Hmm... maybe I'll make my own Combaticon cards now... all my characters were all NEW characters based on ALL sorts of stuff and ideas just for fun. And I don't really understand the game like many of y'all do since I don't get to play with another real person... so learning the game for me has been....well slow. Some of my solo gameplay videos are a near joke...especially early on when I just didn't quite 'get' many game mechanics like I have now. I was just playing to play... and still having a little fun doing it. I make some pretty bad puns and a few voices on rare occasion. I can do a darn good Waspinator. So, well that's all I've got to say about that. And being a dad of 2 and a full time job, never got to try to play any online games with anyone online... since don't really have a web cam. So if you'd like to see how a Chrysler Town & Country might look as a Transformer, speed boats, or watertanks... check my channel out. Since the game is officially cancelled (still getting over this...) maybe I'll look into making some unofficial official characters for the heck of it... like I said of combaticons, maybe the Technobots, Beast Wars characters.... if I have time. Been a month and still haven't finished my 2nd better version of Cronus... rambled a bit too much. Again if I have time I might get back to it as long as I don't get made fun of (too much) by my intolerable cynical wife. 😜
I hate WOTC. It is because of them that Duel Masters (one of the best TCGs I've ever played) was discontinued in the western markets. However, I'm glad it is still alive in Japan. WOTC should really just stop making/supporting other games. If they can't support any other game sides MTG and D&D, then what is the point?
I feel so deflated. I enjoy TCGs and am a huge TF fan so having this game was a ton of fun. The only other TCG I was ever ALL IN on was Overpower. Sure I dabbled with Pokemon, YuGiOh, many different Star Wars TCGs (including Young Jedi), & VS System (the original version) - but nothing ever lasted or felt the same as Overpower for me. I never got into MTG. I had all but given up on TCGs. I play the Deck Building Game Legendary now for the most part as I do enjoy getting everything I need to play all in one box rather then getting mad at a crappy booster pull. Having said that there is still a thrill to be had to crack a box of boosters and pull a Nemesis Prime or some other crazy rare card. So as I was stuck at home during this pandemic I made the decision to dive in on this game. I only had both the 2 player starter decks, Metroplex, Devestator, and just shy of a booster box full of Wave 1 that I had picked up over time pre COVID. Distribution in Canada was a little slow when the game launched and I was torn on if I wanted to invest into this game initially. Then I started to poke around online and dig deeper into the game and your videos were HUGE in helping me understand the game on a more advanced level. I got excited and found a store where I could get booster boxes & singles shipped for free! I now have a decent little collection that allows me to make a number of competitive decks. The best part is my son really dug the game and we played a ton together over the past few months. The real shame is I feel like I was just starting to sink my teeth in and it's over already. Part of me feels it was a waste of $$$. Another part of me also knows that there is still a lot of fun to be had. I realize this is a massive rant but I have such a wave of emotions I felt I needed to write this out. Thank you for all the great content you provided for the game and the community. Till all are one - I suppose.....
The TF TCG was THE game for me. I'm not going to get into any other TCG - I've already tried a handful of the big guys, and they left me bored. I'm so sad to see this end... A silver lining will be that completing my collection will become possible from here on out.
Dang this sucks, I only found out because I perused a hashtag I put on an old Instagram post. This is me and my little Bros only tcg we really got into, so guess I should go all out on Titan masters huh? We just got our first three packs each a few days ago
Man I loved this game still do hell I almost have a complete collection for the first 3 waves. If anything good comes out of this maybe the super rares lower in price so we all can grab them with out having to pay $80 a card.
I’m surprised people didn’t care about this honestly. It seemed like a neat concept overall. Though I feel it says a lot that a guy at my locals who actually buys into loads of TCGs didn’t touch this one...despite literally having a replica of Bumblebee for his car. Seriously. Same make, model, and paint job. And even he didn’t play this and he plays TCGs no one else at my locals plays. I’d have totally bought into this if others had too and I don’t even care for Transformers. Ah well.
Just grabbed Marvel Champions and I am loving that so far(my first LCG). Looking forward to those expansions. The keepers of the keys to the castle of Transformers are not very competent.
Every licensed TCGs has this problem: Bloat the licensing fee, expect a super exponential success, doesn't meet expectation despite a community being formed, cancel it. The only way to save this card game is by making it dedicated deck card game like Uno. Save some value and such.
I wish they would have pushed it more. Exclusive in toy packages, a happy meal toy card something. And I don’t understand why they can’t just enjoy the two fat cows they have “ magic, dnd” and just let us enjoy our little pad of butter. When I worked for coke cola our anchors were dr peppper and coke. The rest of the flavors were to reach the other notches of the crowd. I just wish they wouldn’t try to drive us to magic only.
I had never played a TCG before Transformers came out, have been a tabletop warhammer for 13 odd years, small state down her in Australia but still a decent community for it. Very sad to see it go but we still have 5 waves of content to play with and mix it up, do themed days etc. It still won't make me buy into Magic wotc, once I finish wave 5 set I'll save my cash for keyforge decks
WotC will only ever let non-Magic games live for about two years. Happens every time.
Pokemon lived for awhile under them before it changed hands right?

I was excited to get a community started in my state, and I see this, and I'm like....welp....at least I have some dope ass art. Probably going to go for a master set of the game now since there were only five sets.
I’m still buying cards for it. Think of it as a board game. My friends still play and I will still hold on to booster boxes or decks etc.
Ouch. It was so young.
I truly loved this game played it with friends and family since it launched. Rip i will still play with whats out of course but I'm sad I won't ever get anything new
Damnit.... I really wanted to get a bunch of stuff for my group....
Is it still possible?
Is there a set that is generally known to be the best in terms of balance and gameplay? Never played but interested in cracked some booster packs.
So basically, it's a non-Magic card game from WOTC. It was doomed from the start.
My friend and I wanted to get into this game. Is it possible now to get buy some a good amount despite them not making them anymore or should I just get into another tcg?
It’s a shame another fun game dies in 2020. Rest In Peace Transformers TCG
Thanks Wossy for your dedication... truly a sad moment in TCG history... hopefully another game company can pick this up!
Sadly saw this coming after Titans Masters release because they didn't announce the next set a week after.
C'mon Wossy. Cover the fan sets.
Very sad. Best moment pulling g1 grimlock
Dam, I was just bought a siege II box last week and ordered a titan box. I took a break due to lack of employment, That is a shame
From the release of the Second set, I knew the game would die in 2 years. There were no sleeves for the Transformer cards!
But there are... Just because the store you shop from never carried them, doesn't mean they don't exist. BCW even produced toploaders in appropriate size for characters AND titans, as well as a deckbox designed to hold toploaded character cards alongside regular ones.
Nooo. I started on your channel from frist TCG video. And I loved the game
You do know hasbro can still make the game seeing they own the rights. Wizards did Pokémon and gave up on the card game and Nintendo took over and still selling cards for the game. I don’t see how it’s the end we don’t know if hasbro will pick it up or not as a product. Still have a little hope.
Wizards is owned by Hasbro.
They suck.
the sad fact is sales are everything if a game doesn't sell well it's just a bad business move to keep it
@@denman2991 Yeah no argument here. It still stinks. If you're not into the big three your TCG is eventually going to die.
Such a shame, have been looking into getting into this game the last few months.
I even got a loot crate for Omega Supreme after your tip off, Cheers Wossy for really putting this on the radar, still got un-opened boxes of sets 1+2, never did get a game, I just loved the cards anyway so happy buying them
Anyone have the math or stats on building a draft cube? I'd like to continue playing and sharing with friends. I still enjoy this game.
I played a ton when this came out. I stopped right after the Devestator deck came out, but I'm back and will continue to play
Well I already felt horrible now I’m super depressed
I was looking forward to a Unicron TCG card.
That woulda been a poster sized card!
Some friends and myself are gonna keep it rolling with making our own cards
It's actually quite fun
Battle spirit: hold my sushi
Did not even know this existed! Been visiting gaming stores for a while now.
Watching this video at the end of 2024, I’m sitting here like we should start a petition to bring this game back. This game was super fun and I started playing it again with my friends.
It's been 1 year since this legend was canceled
Still collecting these cards, and now I am collecting the new boxes of Transformers Kayou trading cards...great cards!!!!
Damn
It didn't stand the 2 years test
Love the game! Super sad. Glad I discovered your channel through transformers. I will still be following you. Hope wizards gives GI Joe or he-man a shot. They would make good card games too.
Sad to see it go. Sadly I seen this coming after wave 2 in Australia. ☹️ maybe one day down tree line we will see it again. 🤞🏻
This was the only product I was still buying from WotC. So sad to see them can it. They probably won't get any additional $$$ from me.
I got into collecting this game a few months before it was canceled and really enjoyed the art. It’s a shame it had to be canceled.
This is....
I know I'm late to the party on this one and while I had no desire to play this game it still hurts as a Transformers fan to see this happen.
MY HEART!!
Man I loved this game still do hell I almost have a complete collection for the first 3 waves. If anything good comes out of this maybe the super rares lower in price so we all can grab them with out having to pay $80 a card.
WotC is dead to me now.
Sad news I just finished my dinobot deck now the market is going to go crazy
dragonmasterx100 how will the market go crazy?
So we never got Bruticus??!
I run a game shop and head dove in since its a great game. I got crates of cards but sadly, no one will buy them now and its a big loss for my store.
Ah well.
Sad to see it go...wish people liked to play more than just the top 3
Sad day but happy to say i completed my collection. Now it needs protection to make sure my son and i can continue to play for years to come.
Writing was on the wall for me when myTarget and Walmart stopped carrying the cards.
Thank you for all the content with transformers, what other card games plays similar to transformers???
Just grabbed Marvel Champions and I am loving that so far(my first LCG). Looking forward to those expansions. The keepers of the keys to the castle of Transformers are not very competent.
Every licensed TCGs has this problem:
Bloat the licensing fee, expect a super exponential success, doesn't meet expectation despite a community being formed, cancel it.
The only way to save this card game is by making it dedicated deck card game like Uno. Save some value and such.
Sad to see it go but I think many of us knew it was just a matter of time. It was fun while it lasted.
I always thought about picking this up but never did. Kinda sad. I think TF would work better as a Tabletop Miniatures game similar to Star Wars.
The reason I was subbed to you was transformers tcg
just got into the game. the game was really interesting and fun
The game seemed promising, but sadly it did not meet the expectations. A real bummer for sure.
I had never played a TCG before Transformers came out, have been a tabletop warhammer for 13 odd years, small state down her in Australia but still a decent community for it. Very sad to see it go but we still have 5 waves of content to play with and mix it up, do themed days etc. It still won't make me buy into Magic wotc, once I finish wave 5 set I'll save my cash for keyforge decks
keyforge is still alive?
@@haruhisuzumiya6650 Still a big following down here in Australia
If I learned anything from TCGs, the only card games that will always be around are Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, and Yu-Gi-Oh.
I F N love this game.. if they made a digital version it would work, hit the ground running with fans! I’m still gonna play it and buy all the cards!!
