best teacher I could ever have
I really wish I came from a musical family! Trying to learn all this stuff as an adult with a full time job and other responsibilities is hard.
I'm in the same position as you..all you have to do is make a time for you..half an hour..that's all you need !! GUARANTEED!!
@ thta's why I do. everyone has 1/2 hour at Least a day to practice!!
In the same boat as you... Hard but not impossible. 🤗🤗 We can do it.
keep going....you can do it!!!!
Nothing beats trying...but failing to try.
Good luck.
Wow! Been tinkering for 2 years are so and have always played by ear never new my notes and this by far is the easiest method. God bless you. I just keep in mind that E&B are the only ones without #.
I just started playing bass. Man thank you! I'm so glad to learn this early on! Love your teaching style. It really resonates with me.
Great to hear!
Dope! New bass player. The “if you know one string , you know two” tip was super helpful! Thank you!
Wildly helpful. Lots of different approaches to learning the fretboard- this one is the most approachable one so far. Thanks.
Too right Daric. I play by ear. When I put my mind to it, I know the notes, but while I'm playing, I actually don't! 😵
So I simply memorize first bass note on every song and play from memory.
So glad I found you! Just starting out. Great tips.....thanks so much!!
Probably the best video I’ve seen thanks for the tips!
My goodness sir! You made it so clear that i can practice my bass skills now. Thank you
Biggest help I've had to learning the fretboard notes God bless
This is gold bro
Thanks for you’re time in helping all of us
Daric: Thank you so much for this channel. As been 40 or so years since I picked up my Fender Jazz. Ol brain is a wee bit rusty.
Daric, I love the way you teach. You're great!
Big help. Thankyou
The double string theory worked for me . Thanks 🙏
Finally!!! Well done explaining my slow brain a simple technic learning the fretboard
What!? Mind blown! As an older newcomer to the Bass guitar, you've just opened my eyes and saved me so much time. Thank you.
Thank you so much! This video is helping me a lot - I'm looking forward to checking out more of your lessons :)
Appreciate you my bro!
Man this is awesome!!!
Thank you sir
Thanks boss u just gave me a wonderful trick of leaning the board
It’s amazing that you and Jaco have similar “Learn the Fretboard” stories. One was over a year and one was over a weekend lol
Thanks for the tips!
Well done, sir. Man you can rip through those scales! You inspired me. Liked and Subscribed.
Great Explanation!
I also figured out the fret board this way😀
Thanks for the post! Subbed; just started bass by ear (from keyboard) yesterday... I'm so excited! I love bass.
Super helpful bro. Don’t know why I haven’t thought of those tricks. Thanks!
Genius 🦉
Awesome tricks! Thank you!

Wow bro amazing 5 min lesson 👍
Oh god thank you, iv been doing bass lessons for some time now and i have always been counting the fretts but this video helped me and my teacher thanks so much!
You are an AMAZING teacher!!
Great video as usual Daric thanks !!!
This was very helpful. Thank you
You're welcome!
Been playing for 15 years and never bothered to learn the notes on the fretboard, but this made it seem less harder than I thought it was
I'm learning (playing) a double bass; which has no frets, so tuning my ear to what I play is most important.
Hey, just wanted to say thank you, i just learned a ton watching you, very interesting thanks again, glad i stopped by!
Awesome, thank you!
I'm 49 and starting at this point. I've been looking for all the A notes ...there is 8......7 B notes etc. That's another different way to memorize.
Brilliant! Thanks!!
Sooo helpful thank you!!
Great video, and great advice, thanks Daric 👍.
I just subscribed bro
Omg, Thank you SOOO much!!!!
Hey man those are great tips!
Deric dude!! You are super inspiring! I’m getting ready to offer some Bass courses and dude you have helped me understand how to present my Lessons! #DopeDude
Good video👍🏼
Dude your super cool!!!🙌🙌🙌
Thanks bro
You don't need to come from a musical family all you need is the instrument you desire to play in a couple of lessons and you'll get it have faith in yourself watch RUclips on the instrument you love and I guarantee if you're passionate about it you will learn in a matter of months
Great video!!!
I have 5 days to learn how to see the notes on the sheet on the fretboard. I can read music, I can read bass clef. I just don't know how to read music and place it on the fret 😭
i have a acustic bass i need to learn the notes so i could play some corridos
So I see you Use to play Quartet!! Would love to see a bass lesson on Quartet
fine, i'll keep of the tabs for a while and learn the fretboard for once. wish me luck
is there a 'better' way to refer to flat/sharp notes? i find most sheet music, for example, uses flats. i never see an A# chord, rather it is Bflat. important professionals like daric using 'sharp' confuses me.
The rule is if your moving up the scale it's sharp, the inverse is flat.
I am 16 and I have the same thing playing everything but not knowing the notes!!!!!!!!!!!
It kinda sounds like you were playing Quartet
BranBran Williams it does that excited me lol
3:20 anyone heard something wierd?😁😅
Lol, 😁 he learned the A string first, and then he learned the E string first... I wonder if he also learned the D string and G string first... 😅 Not a good teaching video imo, there are much better ones out there. Got my bass (5 string Cort) a few weeks ago. Music College videos are pretty good. Which bass have you got and how is your learning going?
0:37 That appears in the Jaco 's biography book. You should be ashamed.
