Notable example of this, is the skeleton ball boss, level 3 When he disappears and shoots large bullets at you, you should walk them, not dodge roll them
As someone who clears dragun practically every run, my best tip is to focus on your character, and SLOW DOWN TIME by going into your gun menu. While cycling weapons, you can see all of the enemies and bullets coming at you. On computer it's hold CTRL, on console hold TRIANGLE.
I know this seems kind of counterintuitive, but I always open blue chests instead of green. From my experience, blue chests just give better items. I recognize that green chests are supposed to be better, however the loot pool that blue chests have is just a lot more appealing to me, at least in my opinion. Something else I would like to add on is the fact that each floor has one item and one gun in each chest. If you open a chest and there was an item inside of it, then you know that the other chest (if unopened) has a gun inside of it, or vise versa. The last two tidbits of info I have is that if you did not acquire a gun before beating a boss it will always drop one, and that you should save the game at the elevator and then keep playing after going to the menu if you got an A or S tier weapon or accessory. Doing this will reset your magnificence from that floor making A and S tier weapons easier to find in the feature floors. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
Wow you really know your stuff! I didn't know some of those facts. Also about the chests, I think that in general the green chest guns are better than the blue chest guns. The blue chest may have an item pool with a greater variety, but I prioritize getting a good gun so I can flawless the bosses. In the end what makes a run good vs bad is if you flawless the bosses.
@@Chow022 I'm sorry, it seems that I did not put my point out very well. What I was trying to say was that I (at least) think that the blue chests have better guns if not better items. It really comes down to personal preference, but I find less blue guns boring than green guns. Not just less boring, but just guns that are better. I think that items in green chests are probably better, but too many green guns are forgetful, and not fun. Some of my favorite blue guns include : The Scrambler, The Bubble Blaster, The Siren, The Membrane, The Sticky Crossbow, Balloon Gun, and many more. My point is that blue guns are not only more fun, but also better in many cases. And at least in my opinion, having more fun makes a better experience overall than just trying to win the game with gunther, yari launcher, etc. I would also like to mention that this comment and the one before was not meant to criticize or degrade your video in any way! Chest manipulation is a big one. Learn about how drops work, gun classes, synergies etc., because some of the weak guns in this game are not only weak, they are straight up unfun to use
3:45 you never said the other uses of rolling to the side you just said not to which in some cases is fine but this game is situational so it would be ideal to cover situations players would face in a typical run
If I recall, blue and green chests are in the same tier. For whatever reason, I thought green chests carried better guns because I only ever got items from blue chests and got guns from green. It's anecdotal, and I'm sure there are guns in blue chests, I just remember having more success finding weapons with the green chests
a bit late but my personal advice for slightly advanced player is to not buy hearts, i know it can be a bit scary but getting better gear by buying keys will allow you to kill enemies faster which makes you lose less health and thus less money spent on heart. With that you can limit your health loss to the point where you'll gain more health by playing the level than you lose it. also, checking for secret rooms at the end of the floors when you have leftover blanks, they are most of the time at the chest rooms, shops and elevators, i shoot chest rooms with a non infinite ammo gun then blank shop and exit if i find nothing there. flipping table is underated too as it gives you complete invulnerability even for the bullets coming from behind the table.
after some rat runs, I recommend only taking the boots and the bag. you get alot of pickups and a free S tier item/gun if you complete the punchout and I think that is already OP enough. Elimentaler is definitely not an overpowered weapon for a S tier gun, but Cheese on the other hand, is OP for an A tier active. You can almost always be invincible with it if your firerate is good enough to charge it quickly and that makes the game unfun even with 10+ curses which don't even matter since you're constantly spamming the active. But what I 100% recommend to always do after the rat is going for the advanced dragon. The coolest and hardest boss in the game imo.
Everyone has had that in EtG at some point, it took me about 80 runs to finally beat dragun, and I only managed to start consistently beating black powder mine like 20 runs prior. You just have to keep trying!
