- Here's a 30 minute step by step assembly video of the Northstar 37 ton log splitter. When I bought mine there weren't any assembly videos on the Tube so I decided to record my experience and share. Hopefully this will help you in deciding weather or not to pay for assembly. The store told me it was a 4 hour job, it took me and pops about 8 hours to complete. (Maybe this video will help speed up your build). BUY SOME HEAVIER CLAMPS FOR THE HYDRAULIC HOSE ASSEMBLY. The provided clamps are not heavy enough for the specified torque specs (consult your owners manual). There's a couple times I mention FOOT LBS when I meant to say INCH LBS (again consult owners manual. I feel those torque specs are important and I've had no issues with my hoses). Make sure and shake out and separate all of the bolts by size. Get a metric measuring tool to help with this as there are some very similar bolts required in separate steps (consult owners manual). Yall stay safe now. Don't forget to wear your eye pro and some good mechanics gloves. Careful not to spill your beers. Cheers y salud!
Dang I didn't realize I had comments waitin on me. Definitely glad I went with the largest option available from Northern Tool Equipment. I've split about 6 or so cords with 0 issues. I turn the gas off and let the motor burn up all the gas in the carb when im finished everytime and just drain the whole gas tank if I know it's gonna sit for a while.
What a pain in the butt putting that together. You guys did a pretty good job..
Get you a woodstove for that garage and you have it made
I just brought mine home, and hoping it goes this smooth for me... How's it been holding up for you?
just got mine too there awesome glad i got the honda motor and not the kohler motor
