Ukraine Just Did Something DEVASTATING to 715,000 Russian Troops

- Published on Mar 8, 2026
- Russia has been cut off from Starlink, and Ukraine is suddenly moving with confidence. Counterattacks are rolling across the southeast as Russia struggles to coordinate its forces. To outsiders, this looks like a classic push to retake territory. It isn’t. What Ukraine is doing now is far more calculated, and far more lethal. The real objective will surprise you.

Rule 1: Never rely on a system you don't control.
Unless you live off the grid and are 100% self sufficient, we all rely on things which we do not control.
Completely different situation but me and my buddy were discussing the other day how crazy it is how many restaurants rely on Uber eats or doordash for their food delivery. It's another company they are trusting to deliver their food and represent them.
@TrevorTrove they dont want these companies at all. most restaraunts are losing money and customers because of apps. all you need is 1 delivery guy to lose a customer for life and get bad reviews. +their high fee is losing even more customers.
they are forced to use the apps because the customers are constantly using them.
@pingamalinga Most of us don't have much choice in that. For a military to do it feels especially foolish.
Amazes me we thought Russia was a military threat to the US. They don’t even have adequate comms, let alone equipment. If not for their nukes, they would be absolutely nothing
If they attack civilian trains, hospitals and apartments then it is only fair that their government buildings be attacked in response.
I disagree, but defendable opinion (exept if they loaded with only politicans, but with that russians (people) only win)
Drop the Kremlin into its basement.
The Great brave people of Ukraine ARE NOT ANIMALS LIKE THE RUSSIAN MILITARY ARE.
The brave people of Ukraine are not ANIMAL'S LIKE THE RUSSIAN MILITARY ARE. They are a PROFESSIONAL ARMY
You do realize it is standard practice to kill civilians in war?
Its only an american and “un” idea that killing civilians is bad.
I dont think youve payed attention more than to spout your political dogma.
Putin'll need a lot more frog poison now.
He should try some on himself. Slava Ukraine!
he can use it on himself like the coward he is, just like hitler.
The FROG OF WAR!
@andyhurrell just like a particular guy in 1945, if they weren’t already similar enough

Why did Musk allow the Russians to use Starlink in the first place?
Because he's pro Russia. They're WHITE! Musk is insanely racist...
@laurentixe Musk a utilisé le whitelisting strict pour forcer que les Troupes du gouvernement ukraine a avoir le starlink.
Loss of real time connectivity in modern warfare is a death sentence for active combatants on the side losing it.
Only if it was their primary source ..
When you realize that it was Russian soldiers smuggling their own Starlink kits in, not the Russian military using them for secure communications, this entire video gets real silly.
The strategy is basically depend on the western world for everything.
A sentence to help this video.
Russian military has been significantly blocked from using Starlink terminals on the front lines. Following a coordinated effort between SpaceX and the Ukrainian government, new technical restrictions were implemented that deactivated the illicitly obtained "grey market" terminals previously used by Russian forces.
Good news once again keep it up Ukraine and you will win
Considering it was soldiers privately smuggling terminals in, it won't change a damn thing.
This entire video is malarkey lmao
@harveyhill6102yes Ukraine has already taken St Petersburg and are advancing towards Moscow, they should conquer Russia by the end of summer!!! 😂
Ein Amerikaner macht das Lichts aus, Russland steht im dunkeln.
Mann, grass, rilke read this prose
So muss ja auch! ;)
???!!
Usa kan sku da ik gøre ret meget ved Rusland og slet ik når d trump og Putin er venner
@mikaelkjacobsen4965should it be doing something??
*Russia* is waging war to _seize_ territory and seizing territory requires that *Russia **_occupy_* said territory.
It can't do that against autonomous defenses. A defender can *_always_* repel any attacker as long as he is able to field inexpensive land, sea, and/or air, autonomous weapons.
The territory may become _tabula rasa_ but _destruction_ does *_not_* mean _occupation._ It just means that the territory is temporarily useless to *_both_* sides.
Once the aggressor has exhausted his blood and treasure, the defender simply marches back in to rebuild and sues the aggressor for the rebuilding costs.
Good point.. I think the Russia is going to lose this in the end. Putin is wasting so much money , time and manpower. He is going to start having unrest at home if it has not started already. The only way Putin can get out of this is to have the sanctions taken off of Russia. If the war ends and the sanctions are still on then Russia still collapses due to the economic strife. If Putin keeps on fighting at least he has something to try to augment his nation for jingoistic purposes but that is still a band-aid at best. Either way Putin has put himself in a terrible bind.
Basically, you've defined attritional warfare. This is the expressed reason why Ukraine will not launch any major counteroffensives and what the russophiles, crowing about ruzzia taking empty farm fields, chicken coops, and settlements reduced to indefensible rubble, are oblivious to: taking territory is the EASY part, while defending those gains requires dedicating sufficient manpower that cannot be used offensively or defensively elsewhere, and occupation is the hard, long-term, expensive commitment of personnel.
The POPULATION are HAPPY to see the Russians soldiers ! Kiev is attacking the population of the Donbass since 2014 !
Let the LAWSUITS Begin!
@moestietabarnak Donbass? You mean the region in Ukraine that Russia guaranteed in writing to always respect as being part of Ukraine?
Too bad you can never trust a Russian these days.
Another great video
The Russian will to fight will break down as logistics fail.
It is already becoming evident.
@gordonwybo898 Yeah, the country's losing all hope over their favorite messaging app being taken away.
How do think they'll react when the oil stops flowing entirely, & the food shipments stop?
What are the Russian people doing ? If America got into a long deadly war trying to take Canada , the American people would revolt.
@sirvilhelmofyonderlandthey will revolt after Russia loses the war.
@espresseo1613 I hope so. As it stands they seem brainwashed.
Disabling starlink for Russia is the only good thing I've heard Elon Musk do in 2026 so far
Edit: and 2025 too
its only february...hang on
Putin must have missed a few payments...
It's to help clear regulatory hurdles as he prepares Starlink's parent company (SpaceX) for an IPO. The Ukrainians are making full use of this opportunity for as long as it lasts.
By the time Elon lets the Russians use unregistered Starlink terminals again, lets' hope it's moot.
@sweengollyyou have high hopes
Did he tho?
Russia has spoken about what’s going on in the USA.
I hope that soon Ukraine will control the skies so they can start dropping the big smart bombs. Cheap and HUGE.
Putin is trapped in a war he cannot win. He can"t make peace because it will mean a bullet through his brain. Sic temper tyrants
At least in your little miniseries.
Now , add spring thaw on all of those cities without running water... Cholera outbreak?
Can't we go with option B? It sounds more economical and he did start this!
This an example of a leader, with a HUGE EGO, putting his own plans instead of : what do the people want.
Just like a $400M ballroom or an Arch nobody wants.... I'm sure the Russians were not thinking: "Gee, I wish we were back in the USSR."
Yeah, I saw what happened there.😂
If Ukraine kills 1000 Russian soldiers for every 1 Ukrainian soldier killed, the Ukrainians will still run out of men long before Russia will.
I believe you mean sic semper tyrannis
I don’t understand why Musk didn’t do this earlier
It’s about time Musk supports Ukraine and not Putin the war criminal.
I question his motive. He is one of Pootin's best friends.
@IRENEPECHENIUKElon musk could literally shoot Putin in the face, kill him and you would still “question his motives” there is no way to spin cutting off starlink from Russia as pro Putin
@StayStrapped1 buddy he was supplying russia with internet access for years. he should be criticized. it was not a mystery what was happening. you're such a bootlicker. he could've easily done what ukraine did and blacklist everything in the region BUT ukrainian access and he chose not to. I wonder why $$
Musk is an Opportunist, not an American. It's why his cars were bursting into flames in the streets without the batter being the problem. This time the car maker himself was causing the fires.
He is just getting ready for his IPO
This is a strange war. Despite all of the new technology and drone warfare, the dug in troops and near static territorial situation reminds me more of World War One than any other war that I can think of.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
The most dangerous weapons are too dangerous to use. If nukes are off the table, and neither side has overwhelmingly capabilities or logistic networks, then we do apparently just end up with a classic entrenched type of warfare reminiscent indeed of WW1.
Shows again how with out air superiority in a modern war, you are not going anywhere.
Russia is so technologically stagnated and so militarily ignorant that they have learned nothing since WW1.
Russia uses trench warfare because it hasn't advanced its strategies for over 100 years.
Ukraine uses trench warfare because Russia hasn't advanced its strategies for over 100 years.
Without the technology, Russia would steamroll through Ukraine with the vastly larger army of Russia, North Korea and many Africans. Many Russians, etc would die but since when has a Russian/Soviet dictator cared about anyone else's lives.
There's always carrier pigeons and smoke signals.
Russia known for terrorist acts. Insane how people can defend them at all.
Det er kun hjerne døde personer som støtter Rusland og alle sammen skal straffes
Trump defends Putin all the time. It’s obvious he admires and envies the power Putin has and his stealing of lands in Georgia and Ukraine, and his plans to rebuild the Soviet empire.
We see Trump’s designs on Canada, Greenland, attempted control Venezuela and ambitions in Iran. He even floated the idea of taking control of Gaza. He’s a fool.
Maybe you didn't notice western Canada WANTS to join the USA?
@johnj4860Stop watching FOX and think with your own brain. No sane Canadian will give up free health care and other benefits for US chaos
@johnj4860ignorant comment
Why was Russia ever able to use Starkink in the first place? WTF?
They smuggled questionable StarLink receivers into Ukraine.
They basically weren't. They just robbed a handful of soldiers from having personal internet on the battlefield. This was not relied on at all by Russia for military operations.
I mean, it's a US company... you're crazy if you think they connect their shit to it.
B/c Musk doesn't care who wins as long as he makes money.
Because Elon was in bed with Putin.
Det skyldes d trump også en ulovlig adgang som d trump har godkendt
Ukraine has master strokes, Russia strokes itself
You mean Russia master bates.
Ukraine strokes Elon for favors because they have no competent armed forces.
They get that 20% of their country back yet? No?
I think I know what Russia wants from this fight, but I fail to see what Ukraine is attempting to achieve... Hunan Trafficking? Adrenochrome Production? Safe haven for Satanists?
@Thinker2-truth Survival
@jeebuzcrustRussian mother , fathers can see their boys again because they buried in Ukraine 😅
Let justice prevail and Putin fall.
From the UK.
Putin, no matter what he says, cannot afford to stop his war as he, his generals and any surviving Russian soldiers, are guilty of horrendous war crimes and crimes against humanity.
This means he will fight until Russia is over-run and the administration is destroyed completely.
Let Justice prevail and Putin fail. Slava Ukraine 🇺🇦
Y didn’t Musk do this earlier?
My apologies to Ukraine from USA. I’m ashamed of how we have treated such a good people we promised to protect
He will, but only when he does, the hell will brake loose. Any possible replacement will not shy away from dirty ammunition and even more civilian strikes, up to nuclear options to bring the victory. Putin does not want to go down in history as mass murderer, but as the man who rebuilt the fallen Sojuz. Don't get me wrong, he is a liar, ordered many murders, but his re-take of Krym was masterful. I am sure he deeply regrets mess he got himself in with this Special Operation. He was promised three days...
he will fall but not in the way the world wants and demands he won't even see a jail cell from the inside .
It's not happening. Everybody is making too much money. I saw a video in 2025 of a NEW MISSILE that was made just for Ukraine and was getting ready to be delivered. They were making them for the 2026 war year. The people orchestrating this have no end in sight for their MONEY FLOW. If they wanted it to end NATO would have gotten involved a long time ago. They are using this war as a CASH COW for themselves. Trump was looking for a percentage of the Minerals in Ukraine, that is why he was trying so hard at first to get the war stopped. Since it didn't happen he won't get anything for him self and has forgotten about Ukraine since he could not stop the war in 24 hours with one phone call to Putin. Obviously the Man/Child was WRONG! He isn't getting anything so he lost interest!
As a Vietnam Combat Veteran, Danang 69/70, I and my Fellow Veterans Support Ukraine's Brave, Professional, Intelligent Military and People 100% 💙💯💪🙏! You Will DESTROY EVIL, CORRUPT, Putin 🤑🤤😵💫🤡👺💀!
Same here I stand with Ukraine
Salute.
you know that this war happend most possible because of black rock investments in ukraine.. the question is who is corrupt 🤔
You know this war happened because Putin is trying to rebuild the Soviet Empire.
As a Vietnam veteran, Camp Eagle January 71-February 72, I agree with you, they are defending their homeland against a large army that has invaded them.
If Ukraine can kick them out all the better, if not it will be gorilla warfare until Russia finally gives it up. There’s not a good ending for this if you’re Russian.
Thank you for your service and Welcome home Brother. 🇺🇸
I am cautiously optimistic. With that said, Slava Ukraine!
Don't talk go fight
Dont get too hopefull, its pretty much impossible to retake the land lost
true but if you fart on the front line you get a free drone in your *ss. The war is not won and Ukraine is having the beter cards in hand but cant play without the manpower to back it up.
the real problem for ukraine is not the russian military. with the assistance of the west, they can handle it. the problem is the russian leadership. if putin loses power or dies, one of his thousand cronies will take control and continue this useless war.
unfortunatelly, there is no end to this. firepower wont end this. it can only end with a treaty. a painful treaty.
@qweasdzxcnameRussia is just waiting for them to run out of
Man
Power which is good for Russia and bad for Ukraine
I have believed in Ukrain all along, bc President Zelensky was fighting the best war!
I have always stood with Ukraine 🇺🇦 ❤
Take another prozac
@billwilson1322 It's nice that you are educated on the drugs you are taking. How are you managing to get it in Russia though with all this poverty and economy in the dumpster? Just curious.
@SmO@SmOgER10 Or, maybe he is just a snarky westerner, whose morals have gone missing.
@SmOgER10everyone's a know it all😂 as a matter of I've followed this war since its inception.
@billwilson1322 WHY, I'm fine, I applaud Ukraine👏👏 maybe you should take your own advice😉
With Ukraine in this position, victory over Russia is practically guaranteed.
From Australia
Why did they have starlink in the first place?
It amazes me how utterly incompetent governments are to yield crucially important infrastructure to a private company that then can deny usage of it at a whim. Guess this shows the FAILURE of privatization pushes by governments.
"Guess this shows the FAILURE of privatization pushes by governments."
not really. Without privatization those system would not have been there at all.
I guess we've just fallen into communism.
@PappaTom-ub3htTrue, but you can't allow what have become critical systems to be controlled solely by corporate whim. What if that private bridge guy decided to close the crossing? At the same time, we shouldn't have a TV network going dark when the president has a hissy fit and gets their license pulled because a comic made fun of him. There has to be a balance between government and corporate power. The problem now is that the two are becoming one.
@nathandetroit500 in most european countries the TV networks are privately owned and operated.
But there are laws in place giving both the business some freedom of speech, as well as enabling the government to order specific broadcasts to be sent. Like in a natural disaster or the like.
More power to the private part is more important, because that ensures freedom over the long term.
think of how russia operates for example.
@PappaTom-ub3htI'd say that generally separation of corporate and government should be as fundamental as that of church and state. Again, the danger is when las with Citizens United, you allow the oligarchs to buy government. When that happens, the public interest in things like environmental protections, product safety, workers rights, affordable healthcare, etc. are secondary to profit. In Russia, Putin controls the oligarchs by tossing them out of windows. Here the oligarchs use money to control the pols. Neither arrangement is good for the people. Too much power corrupts, period.
We used to have an economic elite who saw democracy as good for business. People like Musk, Thiel and Bezos disagree. Substitute them for "priest" and Jefferson's words still ring true.
"In every country and in every age, the priest has been hostile to liberty. He is always in alliance with the despot, abetting his abuses in return for protection to his own."
Thank you for your coverage. Russia can be, will be and is being defeated!
🇪🇺🇺🇦🇬🇧🇺🇦🇪🇺
Let Ukraine use their ingenuity to out smart the Russians good luck!!!!!!!
How in the hell did Russia get access to Starlink to begin with?⁉️
Import from third countries. Taken from dead Ukrainian soldiers.
It’s a piece of equipment sold globally to civilians, it’s NOT a military network. Russians simply bought and registered them abroad.
@davidgantenbein9362Couldn't Elon's tech tell which signals were coming from behind Russian lines? I wouldn't be at all surprised if there's a way to eavesdrop on the comms as well. You'd want to have that capability in case terrorists were using the network.
@nathandetroit500There is no clear frontline and I doubt he tracks every starlink to such a degree, but I‘m no expert on his satellite tech. His company though was hired through government contracts, I would be surprised if US military wouldn’t know the extent of tracking the system allows.
@nathandetroit500 In some cases yes and he outright refused.
In some cases no, not until now. Now, why did it took them so long to fix that, I bet because of politics.
Russia has swapped Starlink for Stalink, it only sometimes fails because if it does you fall out of a window.
👍
But Ukraine's doing a great job God bless you guys
Russia was beaten before like this, in Afghanistan. Attrition hurts worse than territory loss.
I dont believe , for one second , that the dtrike on the train had any influence on Musks decision to cut off Russian access to Starlink .
I cannot understand the Russian army being dependant on a foreign communication system (starlink) to communicate with its soldiers.
Half the equipment they've been fielding is old mothballed Soviet stuff, and they've even been sending soldiers out on horseback. How are you surprised that their comms are terrible? XD
If I were a Chechen or Georgian separatist, I might see this as an ideal opportunity.
A pincer movement south to the coast is what is in the works. It will totally isolate Crimea.
I understand the troops have been cut off from telegraph
So this whole war ending was as simple as shutting off Starlink? Umm, yeah, bud, I doubt it.
This sounds less like a counteroffensive and more like a deliberate attrition strategy.
Ukraine spent the first 8 months or so in survival mode. Since then, attrition strategy. Since Ukraine values human life, they're not about to send meat waves to the front lines like Russia does. They make very concise attacks at a good time that delivers maximum pain to Russia with minimum loss to their own troops.
In doing so, they are enabling Putin in his quest to eliminate the entire male population of Russia.
The whole world owes Ukraine for this tremendous service.
Literally what the video says
It is. Has been for years.
@protorhinocerator142 I think it’s Putin’s sick little game, he sent all his lowest-scoring troops with no air support. He’s dragging it on with trench warfare, the Ukrainians get bored, tired, and think they’re winning piece by piece, but in about 3 years Putin will send his Highest Scoring troops with maximum air support, because he’s a psychopath.
@NOVAŒSAPIEN there is air support, mainly ka-50's and su25's. however putin's probably limiting it to seem weaker, you have a point
Thanks for all the effort put into these videos
~500,000+ casualties in 2025 alone...
If this fails to summon conscience, conscience has failed us.
You forgot most of them are citizens. Many die from stravatipn
Ukraine 🇺🇦 💪
"Comrade! We have no more Stalin-Link!"
Commence human wave attack comrades
Heard it all before every day the war changes Ukraine pushed into Russia last year and had to retreat.
Wow, so WHY didn't Musk do this to deny Russiaacess to Starlink years ago?!!!!
Russia wasn’t using Starlink in large quantity years ago, so the most likely explanation is that it must first be identified as a problem and then they must find a solution next. Depending on when they started and the applied urgency, we got now as the moment.
Though personally I find it peculiar that it happened weeks after Russian equipment blocked Starlink in Iran …
Elon did, ages ago, the Russians smuggled in units from the black market. It's just an antenna, register it and it works.
@mundanestuff No he didn't. He knew it was happening but allowed it.
Russia is going to lose big time. Slava Ukraine.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 wait until trump is assassinated in budapest then we'll see what happens to Berlin within 72hours. Ukraine and NATO lost 31v1 since 2014. America started and lost ww2 and history will repeat itself
@crinx9128how did America lose ww2? What are you even talking about?
@crinx9128… did you get thrown head first multiple times at a concrete floor as a baby or something?
@crinx9128 someone lied to you bro
@crinx9128Two years after it began? You really need to move beyond comic books, comrade.
Make them pay, meter by meter, life by life.
That’s your sign to be proportional in your return salvos.
Slava Ukraini!🍁
HOW the hell were russians using starlink in the first place ???
Russia must Pay$$$$ for all the damage done to Ukrainians!!!!!!!
Worked well after WWI
Slava Ukraine! Heroyam Slava! Героям слава!
I thought russia has its own sattelites 😅
Det har de os men de er kun til at forsvare sig med og de er os meget gammel. Det tager minutter før de kan se hvad der sker 😂😂
Thanks! I always appreciate your in depth reporting and your explanations of the strategies or events in the background that drive current events.
Slava Ukraine! Love and support from the UK.
Like Hitler's last gasp offensive in the Battle of the Bulge, this will be Putlin's last gasp offensive. Neither the Russian military nor its economy will be able to afford to continue beyond that without a collapse. How soon afterwards will be hard to predict but they probably won't last beyond the winter of 2026. Then like the Soviet Union, Russia's empire will start to split apart. I'm betting that China will take Manchuria back that Stalin stole from them in the end days of WWII. China always plays the long game and is providing Russia with just enough aid that Putin will continue fighting until there is nothing left to defend Manchuria and it will be part of the repayment due to China.
Very informative and makes sense!!! Ty for teaching me something I had no idea about!!!
🇺🇦Slava Ukraine🇺🇦
✌✌✌✌✌
No cell coverage and loss of wifi???
Oh the horror for the phone addicted. Unsettled minds don’t fight well
I wonder if they are using Palantir
Ukraine will own Russia as war reparations.than russia can be stripped of its resources to rebuild the Ukraine and build a new peaceful economy where Sibria gains its own status and the Inuit are given northern rights throughout the arctic.
funniest comment here! well done ! (well i hope that was a joke right?)
Keep strong ukraine so proud of your fight. Thank you elon for support. God bless ukraine. ❤
Word to russsians at the front…. Every time you have a hunch about the guy next to you, just shoot, it will all work out someday……
Slava Ukraine 💪
I guess Musk finally decided kissing up to Putin wasn't worth it anymore.
Glory to God 💪🏼💯🙏🏼😎🇺🇸 and Ukraine ❤
The Ukraine doesn't need to push Putin's Army into retreat. They just need to hold their ground and continue to destroy troops and equipment along the frontline. Eventually Putin will run out of money to finance his war. He is now bleeding money every time the Ukraine attacks a refinery inside Russia. He is losing billions in equipment that cannot make it to the frontline before being destroyed.
I’m sick of the 21st century. What’s humanity’s damage!
Why did Musk provide Starlink access to both sides in the first place? 🤔
The question is why Russia had access to Starlink to begin with.
Russia should surrender to Ukraine.
Ukraine wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. They have no interest in occupying Russia, a warmongering collection of colonized states, most of them are Asian. Ukrainian people just want to be left alone to live their lives in freedom to enjoy their own culture, and make their own decisions about their relationship to the rest of the world.
Starlink man is still in the files.
Russia is so weak for being a former "super power".
I think it’s Putin’s sick little game, he sent all his lowest-scoring troops with no air support. He’s dragging it on with trench warfare, the Ukrainians get bored, tired, and think they’re winning piece by piece, but in about 3 years Putin will send his Highest Scoring troops with maximum air support, because he’s a psychopath.
"Super power" is the image they like to project, but it only took little Ukraine 3 days to drive them back from their push towards Kyiv.
@NOVAŒSAPIEN If that was the plan, he would have done so already. The longer the war drags on, the worse it is for both sides. Ideally, you want to win a war as quickly as possible. The best time to deploy his strongest troops would be at the beginning of the invasion when he had the element of surprise. To take as much land as quickly as possible, hopefully enough to win the war on the spot.
If he's bleeding hundreds of billions of dollars and risking the entire future of his country just to keep his "ace in the hole" in his back pocket for an imaginary "perfect scenario", then psychopath doesn't begin to describe his mental issues. It's much more likely that he's just incompetent.
@mantawhitest1895 youre not wrong, but thats his point. obviously its better to deploy experienced and heavier armament right as the war starts, but putin may be doing the opposite.
the idea of presenting themselves as really weak could make the other country (Ukraine) fairly relaxed and more vulnerable, especially after a couple years as they've bled so much equipment. putin is most probably deliberately deploying more older equipment compared to newer stuff simply to appear weak, and then for him to change his idea and just hammer down on some random day. all the while using thousands of drafted civilians with no training to just die for a couple years, a pretty psychopathic thing to do imo.
but youre not wrong. he's bleeding tons of resources and it is probably getting worse for the both of them, but im not entirely convinced as many visual reports show he's lost only around a hundred t-90M tanks, compared to the thousands of t-72's hes dishing out. im somewhat confident he has hundreds more of those newer generation tanks just waiting to be deployed, but keeping at bay for now
but putin's decisions are so mysteriously random that you cant predict whether he's hiding everything fancy away, or if hes genuinely fucked.
@NOVAŒSAPIEN him purposefully killing like 100,000 people for zero reason other than fun is stupid and probably false, this isn't a fairy tale
Imagine "the second largest" military in the world is now resorting to guerilla warfare with its puny infiltration tactics because it cannot muster a seriously massive all out assault.
Perpetrated with covert US military intervention
I propose a new drinking game... every time they say "infiltrators" we get a shot!!
Wow Musk did something good for a change.
Somehow I would think he only changed the name for this service in Russia. I don't know why.
Glory to Ukraine🇺🇦 Standing with Ukraine is standing for freedom ! 🇨🇦❤🇧🇷 🇵🇹
This is a very interesting development. I happen to know a little bit about how star link is used in tandem with other military communication systems. The US military still teaches it's soldiers how to send messages with flags if they need to (although it goes in one ear and out the other for most of them.) If the Russian military is unable to function without starlink that means their legacy systems and radios must be MIA. This means they don't have any of the old equipment handy anymore. Which means they won't get it up and running again.
Their legacy system was revealed to be shit in 2022. Also: a lot of what the Russian soldiers on the front use nowadays is provided by donations. And yes, the civilians obviously donated Starlink, because that’s better. But the Russian soldiers are already asking Russians to donate older radio equipment to help them.
they do but their GPS system uses the external geosync line; it works but the speed is miserable and it has 300-500 ping. I know because i worked in a company that offered the same system. It works pretty fine if you're sending text messages and VoIP, but handling drones and all coms in russian 0 lines? Not possible with the distance from earth and the russian number of sats.
Pray for the soldiers
Am i early?
👍 Good , Ukraine needs to go on the offensive. Take over control of Crimea and attack Russia directly!
Slava Ukraine!
Slava Ukraine!!!
Wait Musk was letting Russians use Starlink all this time? WTF?
Yeah, he’s trying to look like a good guy, after supporting Russia since the start of the war! Too late for Elon, we all know what he is 😡
Ukrainians used many civilian and donated starlink terminals. Federov pushed through resistance in Ukraine and then asked SpaceX to do this. Federov is techy, he understands implications/choices. He has worked well with Elon Musk for years.
But of course… and criminal Orange and cohorts knew all about it…
@melissaorellana6951 Please use his full name for clarification purposes, he is the Giant Orange Pumpkin King.
Apparently they used Belarus and Georgian accounts.
Besides the loss of Starlink, the Russians have stupidly shut down the Telegram app in an attempt to lock down access to the internet and launch a new domestic-only app. Except that many of their units were using Telegram to coordinate their attacks.
Most hilarious is that the governor of Belgorod complained that Moscow basically shut down his only way to communicate with officials and citizens in Belgorod.
istn telegram, russian?
@maxstirner6143Founded by two Russians that now live in Dubai, where the company is situated today.
@maxstirner6143 The founders/owners are Russian but they left Russia years ago and the Telegram HQ is in Dubai.
We need the manticore from advanced warfare
It is a bit cheap to blame Zelensky for not making certain defensive positions. He is not a military man, he had/has advisors to advise him, seems those failed.
Ukraine will soon takeout 50,000 soldiers a month, and that is 200 and not 300 or POWs.
Ukraine is eliminating 1000 Russians a day. Doing the math....Putin doesn't even have a 2 year supply of Russian soldiers in theater.
Come now comrade Putin....you're letting the nation down....step higher, march faster....you're falling behind....and you can't afford that.
1000 a day? Source of your information?
@zankfrappawdeezil5566 Насколько ты пьян?
@michaeljohnson4947too drunk to make sense then it seems okay back to my Vodka 😂
Why did russia have starlink to begin with?
why did they have starlink in the first place?
So they've been using it up until now?
Almost four years since Russia was first "three weeks away from collapsing"
Since Ukraine is defending Europe, I would hope that more Europeans would join the Ukrainian Armed Forces, adding to the numbers.
The courage and smart actions by scrappy little Ukraine is such an inspiration
Why was Musk allowing the russians to use his satelites in the first place, very sick.
"Don't worry we won't"
can't wait until mother earth humbles us all. war is so ignorant.
Well done Elon Musk!
So he was letting Russians use Starlink all this time?WTF?
@robert7622apparently they used Belarus and Georgian accounts.
He also blacked out ukraine's use of starlink early on leading to the loss of a massive operation to knock out the Russian ships firing missiles at civilians.
@robert7622 No, he was not. So no WTF moment. You're welcome.
@martinthorhauge353 Yes he was
I am skeptical that Russia ever let themselves be dependant on Starlink
What happened to the hf/uhf communication radio"s that militaries used before starlink and the internet ?
Too easy to disrupt...and also way too easy to triangulate radio location...
They have a small delay.
Radio comms are more difficult to operate and maintain/defend. Less reliable and easily intercepted, monitored or jammed. I imagine there is a lack of knowledge, especially in the younger soldiers as well as a lack of training. They are still attempting to use radio comms; though it may take some time to get the radio infrastructure up.
Russia doesn’t have top of the art communication radio, so they struggle with electronic countermeasures and lack decent encryption. Given both sides use a lot of electronic countermeasures against drones, that’s a problem for Russia.
PS: That’s also the reason why Ukraine is using Starlink heavily, it’s not like they would have an immediate replacement themselves.
