Without trying the 660 S yet, drastically different. Different housing, and the driver has been tweaked, fortunately. Still waiting for Sennheiser to make a HD700 revision (700 S?). Love the build, technical ability, hate the frequency response. HD800 is much better.
Great video (production) but the overall review felt a bit meh.... You made more comparisons with a discontinued headphone (hd580) when i am sure most of us were waiting for a bit more on how they compare with the hd600/650 and specially the hd700 since they share the same drivers. If you can please share a bit more info on that.... Thank you and keep up the good work. :)
Pedro Oliveira the comparison with the 580 is ok because the 600 sounds nearly identical just maybe ever so slightly more forward mid range and the 650 just has a little more mid bass but if you were to quickly compare 580,600,650 the only real noticeable difference is the extra mid bass in the 650. As for the driver in the 660s, a headphone driver is made up of quite a few different parts, but yes the 660s does share the baffle plate and rear housing I think with the 700 but that does not mean it will sound anything like the 700, in fact Sennheiser could use those couple of same parts and then change a few things and make a variety of completely different sounding drivers. The reason behind using those parts off of the hd700 driver is because they put allot of r&d into developing them and know that it improves factors of the driver so this is not a bad thing it's the reason for the improvements made on the 660 like detail retrieval speed and damping.

The more reviews I watch, the more I want/need them. I’ve been thinking of buying HD600, but seeing that these neutral boys are less hard to drive really changes my mind. And GOD DAMN they look so sleek.
I am using iFi Zen DAC v1. balanced connection with HD660s. Very happy with the results. They are very detailed, smooth, natural and realistic sound with a touch of warmth. With 150 ohm impedance I never need to turn the volume above 11 o’clock. As it is not heavy, I can listen for a few hours without feeling fatigue. I mainly listen to classical music which I think HD660s is ideal for this genre. No matter it’s Chopin’s nocturne (solo piano) or Schubert’s string quartets or symphonies by Beethoven and Mahler involving 100 + pieces of instruments of varied tones and textures, the HD660s reproduces them with ease and accuracy. The HD660S makes me feel I am sitting right in the best seat of the concert hall.
This is the best review I've seen so far. Not overloaded adjectives or shallow descriptions running around the bush. Thank you. I just wanted to know if these, being the most detailed of the line and with an improved soundstage, would be worth the $500 or not. You did say they are your favorite set and a phenomenal pair but I didn't hear you saying it is a good buy, but just the 10% and also what that money could buy.

Akilan Mohana not true. Sound quality is one technology that seems to be overshadowed by wireless and portability. Some of the best headphones and set up today have been made for decades with little to no change.
One of my new favourite channels, the visual experience and attention to detail (especially the good audio) are astounding. Great work, keep it coming.
Other than being a bit more detailed, I’m not getting a feel from your video for how these sound. Please describe the sound of the 660 S more clearly, is it warm and smooth, dark and bassy, neutral with a pinch of warmth, warm and forward? Also, please describe the bass, the mids, and the treble. Does the bass have thump, Is it elevated in the middle or upper bass like other Sennheisers, does the treble sound veiled? I know you haven’t had these phones for very long, maybe you could get back to us after a while with a better description for how they sound. Thank you very much and I’m glad you got them.

I am here to tell you guys that I just bought these headphones and I am shocked in the best way possible (coming from $40 "gaming" headphones and some galaxy buds+) Thank you!
I am an professional acoustician from Germany and the hd580 is not more "neutral" than the HD 660s. There are many factors like the open ear gain or the real ear unaided gain etc. Which is important to read a frequency response.
Per Sennheiser, the pads have changed. (Source: Sennheiser official on Head-Fi thread). The shape is a little different and they are roomier. www.head-fi.org/threads/sennheiser-hd660s-finally-a-successor-for-the-hd650.862308/page-29#post-13805367 “Indeed, the pad covers and inner material are the same, however the shape is different. Another way to express this, is the HD 650 has “donut” shaped round pads, compared to the more cup-shaped pads on the HD 660 S. The difference is visually small, but it was designed to feel more roomy and pleasant.”
Interesting! Generally, I have found that "neutral" is not the same as "musical." (For me, anyway.) "Neutral" headphones invariably sound harder and brighter than live music, and also lacking in bass compared to the live music experience. So, although they might be an interesting analytical tool, I don't expect a "neutral" headphone to enable my enjoyment of listening to music.
Ordered a set. Been super happy with my now 10 year old Sennheiser PC360. I'm sure for gaming, Spotify and RUclips these will be more than enough for my rather casual ears.
There is 1 thing overlooked here Impendance! - The 650 requires 300 ohms, while the 660S only requires 150 ohm. For music producers like me this may be a big deal, basically sine the worlds most sold external sound card interface: Focusrite 2i2 is recomended to not exceed 200 ohms, which rules the cheaper 650's out.. In case ur not interested in paying extra for a new headhopne amp/dac as well to drive them properly. Now the 660S is only 150 ohm, so thats an improvement. But in this price range im more likely to spend those kind of cash on the Shure 1840. The reviews by WhatHiFi & Sound on Sound speaks for themselves (an others) Plus the require only 65 ohm's of impendance. These are most definetly worth checking out as an option if your producing 👍
I just discovered your channel because I stumbled upon your 'leaving the state' video. I listened to this video through my HD600s. I appreciate the way you compared the series. If the HD600s are shouty, I don't think I would prefer any of the other Sennheisers to these. I switch to my Grado SR80e headphone once in a while because they are more forward with the mid range frequencies. Another difference, of course, is that the Sennheisers are harder to drive.
At some point the reviewer will learn that in the world of "Audiophile" gear, you are paying the big bucks for 3% increase...... So, to get, as you say, "15%" more, = then you have discovered a miracle. Now, I own these, and have owned the other HD's that the reviewer mentioned and other's in the Senn family, , and these HD660s produce an exceptional musical listening experience that simply cannot be compared to the 600s or the 650s. In fact, these have some of the best mids ever created in a dynamic open back set of headphones. Sennheiser's idea was to tweek the HD700 drivers within the HD580's shell to create the ultimate HD600, and they did it. These headphones offer beautiful Senheiser sound, and if you like this world class sound, then you'll love these headphones, and never mind the price. If you are obsessed with listening to quality sound, then money is what gets you there. Thats just how it works. These cost more then the 580s,600s, and 650s, because they sound better, not just different, but better.
The year is 2020, everything has changed except the sound signature of the **Sennhesier 600 line of headphones. These are still $500 and sexy matte black. The 600s are still *shouty*, 650s are still the best ones for just layin' back and relaxing to music. Each of these headphones will present fine detail to you, just at different freqency ranges. The areas of noticeable change become 87-93% Amp dependent past this point *imo*. This line of headphones feel like the 'Honda Civics' of the audio realm it seems; different varients, years, makes, and models. They work and they're proven to work consitently across a generation. It could be nostlgia of the name Sennheiser being the only audio brand next to Bests that I asscoiate with headphones and childhood. Beats just wouldn't stop beating me over the head about how great and cool they were, now Beats are a mainstream meme. Sennheiser is still just vibin with what ever music you like.
I just bought 560s a week ago, saw Amazon had 660s for $320 so had to buy some. Probably gonna return the 560s and keep the 6. Guess we'll see, might return the 6.
It would be interesting to know how this compares to HD 595 (or HD 598). I also wonder about the clamping force... How much tighter this is compared to HD 595 or HD 598 and is it possible to bend the band so that it doesn't clamp as hard? HD 595 fit my head perfectly and barely clamp at all. I wouldn't want to sacrifice sound stage either but I guess that shouldn't be a problem with these.
I really really loved the review, and i think you were incredibly inciteful and will help a lot with people deciding. I just feel like the b roll, the film looks like jelly, possibly from after affects stabilizing? it just makes me feel nauseas and im pretty sure many others have the same ideas. Great review none the less, thanks!
Yeah. I checked your comparison on both headphones and it seemed so. Have you ever considered reviewing AKG K712 pro by any chance? I would really like your take on it as you have reviewed many flagship models from other brands.
The dt 1990 is now way better than the HD 660s. The 660s suits better for the Majority of normal hearing adults in terms of hearing. The 1990 has a strong peak in the highs which makes it too piercing and unnaturally. The bass is good at the 1990 but in terms of resolution and mids the hd 660s wins
@@RC-qc2nz I respect that Some people Will like DT 1990 more, But HD 660 and all the 6 line is way more easy to listen . DT 1990 have spikes on highs that for some older people are hard to listen over 1 hour. But yeah for peopla tha dont have this problems DT 1990 are amazing very fun .
What portable Dac goes better with this headphone? I have Zero ideas. Please recommend. What about Sennheiser GSX 1000? Can you please review it? I will buy this later need your help brother. What kind of Dac should I buy? I love the portable one because I can use it for everything. All in one. I listen to songs, soundtrack, games, watch movies. I'm actually an Audiophile. But I use like $16.5 Chinese Mice headphone. Which is really bad. I prefer great quality, crystal clear sound, and badass bass. Overall great. Hope you see this comment and reply. Thank you for this video.
Pads are different from other 6-series, they are slightly deeper (by 2mm) and shaped slightly different. The pad is not as "rounded" and has more space in the earcup. A visual inspection is not going to tell you enough about the driver to tell you they are the same. Sharing specs doesn't mean it's the same. They can make a change to the materials for example, and it would not be the same even if it looks the same.
i would reeeeally like to hear some sound demos from you. like they dont have to be on youtube, would be lovely to hear them uncompressed and uploaded somewhere else. good work!
Hi! I recently purchased the HD660S to go join my family of HD600 & HD650 headphones. I wanted to ask; can i use the pentaconn cable that came with it with the HD600 & HD650? I know the HD660S is 150ohm & the other aforementioned two are 300ohm so not sure if the pentaconn cable will work correctly if i plugged it into my HD600/650. It also says on the Sennheiser website for the HD660S: "We packed your HD 660S with a versatile set of essential cables, each one impedance-matched with ultra-low capacitance." This is where i get confused... Is the pentaconn cable impedance-matched to the 150ohm thereby making it a bad match for the 300ohm HD600/650? Thank You in advance for the advice & clarification!
Hey man, the first vid I watched from you was your tier list vid. I noticed you had the HD 650s/6XX but not this. You put the 650s in A tier. Would it be safe to assume that you rank these either A tier or S tier?
I just got my hd660s , and yes they have one of the best sub bass I ever heard , they go easily to 20hz , so don't worry ! That was my only fear ! And yes I'm a fucking bass head ! And if a bass head like me love the sub bass of hd660s trust me .. they have it , thank you sennheiser ! Dms3/ Joshua! And Zeos
I just sold my HD58x despite that I just received them from drop.com like 1 week ago .. I absolutely loved them! However, I really wanted to try the HD660s since the pricedifference wasn't that big after paying duty/tax here in Denmark - I'm hoping for overall better sound (but still with that amazing bass that came with the HD58x). I will be using it for gaming most of the time ..
@touma I'm enjoying the bass on the hd660s compared to the hd58x from drop.com .. Sure, the hd58x has more sub-bass which is nice, but the clarity of the hd660s is soooooo much better in terms of bass/sound. The hd660s also have a wider soundstage! I'm currently using my hd660s with the build in amp that my Røde NT-usb mini comes with - It has plenty of power to drive the hd660s 👌 I actually bought the Fiio K3 in hope of getting even more sound of the hd660s, but I was slightly dissapointed considering how good the sound of the Røde NT-usb mini already is. However, the bassboost on the Fiio K3 makes a huge difference to the hd660s performance in terms of bass - I really enjoyed the extra boost 🙌 It was just not worth paying 99euro for something that does pretty much the same as my microphone can do.
Another great video from this channel. Just like you did for the 660S, I’m hoping that you give us the opportunity to fund your review of the upcoming Audeze LCD2-C. And of course, we’d love to see you draw a winner who gets to keep those headphones once the review is done :-)
one of the things that always put me off 600/650 (even tho i still like them) is bass roll off.. i would of liked to hear a bit more about whats going on w the low end on these, compared to the others otherwise great vid
You mean lack of sub bass? There's definitely a treble roll off but bass nah. 650s have a fantastic low end. If you aren't getting enough bass response then your set up isn't giving it enough power. 600/650s have huge impedance spikes during bass hits.
You will like the Neumann NDH 20's better in this price range (BUT) the Newmann's I had took about 25-36 hours of break in to open up...ESPECIALLY THE First 10 minutes it was like meh..After that wwoooooooo nice! Just don't even think about putting a new pair on for an hour! lol
Hi I bought LG V30 last week and I 've been looking to buy a good pair of head phones to pair it with its high quality DAC. Since you own both pieces of equipment I would like to ask you if you can listen any noticeable improvement in sound quality when you play lossless (FLAC) music through V30 while the Quad DAC option is activated. In addition aren these headphones closed or open design. Kind regards.
Pretty obvious they are open designed... Difference between flac and regular files depends on if you can hear a difference yourself the v30 dac and amp will work regardless if it is a lossless file or not.
Looking at freq graphs I now get where the controversy is. HD660S has a highly detailed driver but with less accurate tuning, hitting the wrong spots with peaks at 4K and 5K.
Thanks for your review. Considering that even a budget balanced cable will run you at least $70, and these come with one, that adds to the value. Can you tell me if the cable is backwards compatible to the other cans in the series? I would also imagine that these have a better transient response than the others in the 580/600 series since they use the 700 driver. Transient response is much better in my HD700s than it is in my HD600s and HD650s.
I’ve had the HD660S and there must have been something wrong with them, the sound was very even through all registers yes however the veil was definetly there and singers had a towel in their mouth so the words were mumbled and this veil was over everything which bothered me because when i put on my DT770 Pro 80 Ohm that veil was just not there and yes i know that it’s v-shaped but instrument separation and detail was much better and all sounds were clean and open. I heard so much positive things about the 660S that i wonder if there was something wrong with my pair that i had, if i ignore the veil and just listen then i do notice that they are very easy on the ears and have a natural frequency curve but every instrument is inside a box. I do like the frequency curve to the 660S but that certain veil it has for some reason make it not worth the money
Hey i need an advice i listen to many different type of music like rock blues but specially rap and i wonder if this headphone will give nice bass for rap not to dry if you know what i mean. Sorry for my english i'm french.
How would you compare these directly to the hd600s for the purpose of something like mixing audio? I have been doing tons of research trying to find something that sounds like the Hd600's and its clear accuracy, but with slightly better soundstage and bass response.
Even if I could find a pair of secondhand 580s here in Oz, surely I'd be looking at 15-20-year old drivers ??? Based on Jude's review of the new 58X Jubilee from Massdrop, they havent recreated the 580 any more than the 660S recreates the 600 or 650. 'Legendary', indeed :(
Jeppe Werring if you don't care about portability, then you should get a schiit magnum and modi stack which are both in total of 200 bucks. Made in America and can't beat the price.
jacob griner uhhh ive been told theyre distorted though... was looking at the nfb 11 but people dont like that either. What about something like a darkvoice paired with an ifi dac... im willing to pay the 500 if it makes the difference.
there's always gonna be a complain bro. I'm pretty sure there's only distortion when using the volume knob. From all the reviews I read and watched, they were rated great and has the best bang for the buck especially when you are new to the audiophile world. Well, if you are willing to spend 500, then I can no longer be of any help bc i dont know amps at that price range and ofc they are gonna be better amp dac combos than schiit's. Hope you find what you're looking for and lmk if you do cause I'm curious about it.
Hi great review on hd660, I just bought mine for £259, as these phones been superseded by 660s2, which has a better bass response, but when I use these with my zen dac v2 with the true bass button on it does come alive , I do have hd6xx also they sound great and they are still $200 , I also like my hd560s too, I have 2 systems with dac so have decent headphones for both system . Be interested to find out how yiu rate the 660s2 . Great work with all your reviews . Regards mark
@@AdamSmith-fe9jf hi Adam, at the time Thormann , as sennheiser already sold out. These were reduced as the S2 version came out. I have fitted a custom cabs mod to my hd6xx which does improve the bass at bottom end . The S2 of 660 now have better bass . Thanks for the reply
@@6643bear That is great to know. Congrats on the new acquisition at that great deal. If I may ask, as I’m a little confused about something, when the S2 offers more bass than 6xx and 660s, does that mean the sound overall gets a little muddy or drowned out by the extra bass or do mids and highs remain detailed and clear? Also, instead of doing mods or getting the S2 over original version, would the use of EQ give the same effect without having to go for the pricier S2 just for the added bass extension?
@@AdamSmith-fe9jf hi Adam, yes yiu adjust the bass on the amp but not to much as we don’t want get it muddy response as you said but ensuring the mids and high frequencies are still clear not affected. I am not expert like yourself But I suppose your headphones and speakers try get them sounding if there bass and mids and highs produce natural to get best out of them to hear how they sound . According to many on Head-fi, these are the darkest of the 6 series. Even darker than the 650's. This is my experience as well...although I do use them with a vintage receiver and some of it could be due to the high impedance of the headphone jack. Anyway, I have to wonder if Sennheiser tweaked the sound on them because in the beginning, many said they were bright.
Would've been nice to comment more on their sound vs the 700. I'm torn between these two, and cant find any reviews comparing their sound, only remarking on similar looking drivers...
Wow, thanks for the very fast reply! I had come across some forum discussions saying that the 700's quirks can be rectified using some EQ software, not sure if you've heard of that before, but it sounds like you didn't get on with them
Damn, was hoping these would be a lot better than my HD 650. They are great for relaxing and metal that has murder highs but I want a set that are super detailed. The problem I have is they need to be light. The LCDs give me a headache within 25 minutes due to their weight. Any suggestions that are sub $900. I would love a set of 800Ss but $1600 plus a new amp would be way out of my budget.
Paul Koby The upgrade from HD 650 is not going to be huge under 900. I would live with the 650 and just experiment by pairing it with higher and equipment and cables
I'm listening to this video on my modded HD58Xs :P (I love the fuck out of them). I'm liking these modified HD700 driver based cans. My modded HD58Xs are by far my favourite though.

I am an professional acoustician from Germany and the hd580 is not more "neutral" than the HD 660s. There are many factors like the open ear gain or the real ear unaided gain etc. Which is important to read a frequency response.
How would you rate these in terms of neutrality?
Man that intro is just incredible! I would love to see a video on how you filmed and edited it.
Per Sennheiser, the pads have changed. (Source: Sennheiser official on Head-Fi thread).
The shape is a little different and they are roomier.
www.head-fi.org/threads/sennheiser-hd660s-finally-a-successor-for-the-hd650.862308/page-29#post-13805367
“Indeed, the pad covers and inner material are the same, however the shape is different.
How have they held up? Do you like them?
id also like to know about your experience with them
There is 1 thing overlooked here Impendance!
I like the words on the screen and the subtle effects and stuff. Makes it funny . Nice job man
Just got these for $350. Literally a steal at that price imo.
364$ :))
@@noosewrld 240$ new on Black Friday!!!
These cost more then the 580s,600s, and 650s, because they sound better, not just different, but better.
this is one of the rare occasions when the high cost is worth every penny
@6:15 you talk about impedance and wave xlr support up to 250 ohms, so 660s will work cause 150 ohms, but 660s2 is 300 ohms.
I just bought 560s a week ago, saw Amazon had 660s for $320 so had to buy some. Probably gonna return the 560s and keep the 6. Guess we'll see, might return the 6.
660s is more detailed, 560s is better tuned.
DSM3: Probably not worth it for the price, only 10% better-ish.
Zeos: SELL ALL YOUR HEADPHONES EVEN IF YOU HAVE HD 600 AND BUY THIS. NOW!
Janer DT1990 is better for the price
Yeah. I checked your comparison on both headphones and it seemed so. Have you ever considered reviewing AKG K712 pro by any chance? I would really like your take on it as you have reviewed many flagship models from other brands.
i would love to try some. I really didn't like the K7XX but haven't had my hands on K712 at home yet.
My 660s with a Harman EQ sounds fantastic, I don't understand why some complain about base performance of these, especial with a Low-Shelf EQ.
These are so good that i sometimes long after them when hearing music, so i can listen back with them.
I thought nowadays pads for 600, 650 and 660s are the same.
Wonderful review! I've been very happy with my pair
i would reeeeally like to hear some sound demos from you. like they dont have to be on youtube, would be lovely to hear them uncompressed and uploaded somewhere else. good work!
It also says on the Sennheiser website for the HD660S: "We packed your HD 660S with a versatile set of essential cables, each one impedance-matched with ultra-low capacitance."
This is where i get confused...
I'm currently using my hd660s with the build in amp that my Røde NT-usb mini comes with - It has plenty of power to drive the hd660s 👌
I actually bought the Fiio K3 in hope of getting even more sound of the hd660s, but I was slightly dissapointed considering how good the sound of the Røde NT-usb mini already is. However, the bassboost on the Fiio K3 makes a huge difference to the hd660s performance in terms of bass - I really enjoyed the extra boost 🙌
It was just not worth paying 99euro for something that does pretty much the same as my microphone can do.
Now that i have all 5 and 6 series i have to say HD 650 and HD 660s are the best of them all for different reasons .
Hey DMS, are you guys reviewing the HD660S2 soon?
I like the way you speak. Fast and straight to the point. Radio voice. You don’t sound southern at all.
really nice video @DMS3 TV, thanks for the great advice.
Another great video from this channel.
Just like you did for the 660S, I’m hoping that you give us the opportunity to fund your review of the upcoming Audeze LCD2-C. And of course, we’d love to see you draw a winner who gets to keep those headphones once the review is done :-)
Hey, what will you recommend for sound quality(gaming and music)
Audeze mobius or sundara or 660s
Price is not an issue
1st?
2nd?
3rd?
BOIII I BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
Just got these for 300 and it’s my first “audiophile” header if you see this later on know that you can if you wait get em for 300 again :)
Love your channel!!! I have a question: how long does a headphone last?
whole life if you care for them, if you are naughty child I guess it last less :)
one of the things that always put me off 600/650 (even tho i still like them) is bass roll off.. i would of liked to hear a bit more about whats going on w the low end on these, compared to the others
otherwise great vid
NYCReaching its essantially the same. No real FR change in lows
You mean lack of sub bass? There's definitely a treble roll off but bass nah. 650s have a fantastic low end. If you aren't getting enough bass response then your set up isn't giving it enough power. 600/650s have huge impedance spikes during bass hits.
I'm debating between massdrop 6xx and 660s. Are these headhpones good for EDM? If so which one is better?
GoodBoyMIKE 650 6xx better imo
For the short time that I heard these at CanJam NY I dug them! Senns booth left a lot to be desired in regards to listening experience though lol
2 questions. NFB11 or R2R11? And did you have any problems with this weirds "poping" sounds in any of those?
You will like the Neumann NDH 20's better in this price range (BUT) the Newmann's I had took about 25-36 hours of break in to open up...ESPECIALLY THE First 10 minutes it was like meh..After that wwoooooooo nice! Just don't even think about putting a new pair on for an hour! lol
I enjoy you DMS. Subbed - Please keep at it!
Great video. I definitely agree the 660 S is more detailed than the 650, less of a veil to my ears as well.
Dominic Moass maybe get ur ears checked. Brighter and harsher doesn't mean less veiled.
@@user-vi3tb3bw5t J Yes, and what's gonna be the result? Your ears are wrong because you don't agree with "J"?
@@user-vi3tb3bw5t It is not brighter. It is really more detailed.
Is the lcd x worth the upgrade over the 660s? How much detail difference?
Thanks for your review. Considering that even a budget balanced cable will run you at least $70, and these come with one, that adds to the value. Can you tell me if the cable is backwards compatible to the other cans in the series? I would also imagine that these have a better transient response than the others in the 580/600 series since they use the 700 driver. Transient response is much better in my HD700s than it is in my HD600s and HD650s.
Bob Karnowski hd 700s suck ass
There is no veil ur just used to beyerdynamic high treble
How about the 58x jubilee... and the NFB 11 ?? Any chance of a review for those incoming?
Hey i need an advice i listen to many different type of music like rock blues but specially rap and i wonder if this headphone will give nice bass for rap not to dry if you know what i mean. Sorry for my english i'm french.
is it worth to upgrade to HD 660s from HD 558 ?
Yes
How would you compare these directly to the hd600s for the purpose of something like mixing audio? I have been doing tons of research trying to find something that sounds like the Hd600's and its clear accuracy, but with slightly better soundstage and bass response.
Can we get a review for the V30?
How do the 580 compare to the 650 in bass and soundstage? Had the 650 a few years ago. I know the sound but never heard the 580's.
Are these more detailed than Grado 325? or Grado RS2?
I really want these headphones 🎧 and I'm getting a pair next time they go on sale at Amazon.🙂
i have the hd600 and I love them, just wish they were a bit brighter, could the hd580 satisfy my needs?
Even if I could find a pair of secondhand 580s here in Oz, surely I'd be looking at 15-20-year old drivers ??? Based on Jude's review of the new 58X Jubilee from Massdrop, they havent recreated the 580 any more than the 660S recreates the 600 or 650. 'Legendary', indeed :(
Saving up for these, Any recommendations for a small DAC AMP combo with a budget of $200?
Jeppe Werring if you don't care about portability, then you should get a schiit magnum and modi stack which are both in total of 200 bucks. Made in America and can't beat the price.
jacob griner I'll look into them, thanks!
Just got the Schiit Hel. Its a dac/amp combo for $200 and its great 👍. Using it with my hd 6XX.
ifi hip dac 150 bucks, super good, adds awesome bass boost if you want, and portable
Still waiting for my email saying I won these..........pls
Cereal421 ripperoni
I got the 650s for Christmas and I *LOVE* them so much! Under 300 us dollars, what amp dac combo do you think is best?
teknowafel sam schiit magnum (amp) and schiit modi (dac) which both are 200 bucks in total. Can't beat the price.
jacob griner uhhh ive been told theyre distorted though... was looking at the nfb 11 but people dont like that either.
Great comparison considering you have many sets in the 600 line from Sennheiser. Where did you buy your 660s from?
I like bass but not a muddy bass and try get a balance of good audio . Regards mark
@@6643bear Thank you, Mark. I am no expert. In fact, sounds like you have more knowledge. Appreciate the tips and will try that out. Hopefully I can just find a great deal on a nice set of headphones like you did. Then my Christmas will sure be merry. Thanks!
is it good idea for me to buy 6xx when I own hd 660s? i want to pair them up with tube amp
Yes
if youve got an lg v30 you dont need an external dac... the lg v30's dac is amazing (ess sabre 9218p dac chip). you could use an external amp though
Great review. Im impressed.
Keep it up.
Would you recommend the 660S for gaming ? I currently use the Beyerdynamic DT990 And great review btw mate
What do you prefer between these and the dt880?
Loud Places.. good choice!
I see a lot of reviewers comparing these to the other Sennheiser headphones, but are these a decent value compared to other headphones that cost $500?
can you give a suggestion on a good amp to use with these :)
I was able to cop the hd 660 s for 309 new on amazon. Idk if I made a bad choice or not
According to many on Head-fi, these are the darkest of the 6 series. Even darker than the 650's. This is my experience as well...although I do use them with a vintage receiver and some of it could be due to the high impedance of the headphone jack. Anyway, I have to wonder if Sennheiser tweaked the sound on them because in the beginning, many said they were bright.
Will they fit for listening to a house music?
Good info but a headphone review should always include details about the bass response.
Would've been nice to comment more on their sound vs the 700. I'm torn between these two, and cant find any reviews comparing their sound, only remarking on similar looking drivers...
You don’t want the HD700. It’s got a lot of problems.
Wow, thanks for the very fast reply! I had come across some forum discussions saying that the 700's quirks can be rectified using some EQ software, not sure if you've heard of that before, but it sounds like you didn't get on with them
Very nice reviews!
HEXv2
Thanks! I’ll have to check them out. $1,300 means ill have to save up a while. I did like the LCD 2s a lot; just too damn heavy.
lightweights new phones LCD2c and AEON Flow Open Back.
Pakalini Those LCD2Cs look like they might be an awesome upgrade for my HD650s. We’ll have to see how light they turn out to be.
Paul Koby The upgrade from HD 650 is not going to be huge under 900. I would live with the 650 and just experiment by pairing it with higher and equipment and cables
Were can i get a nfb11 ? or in generall a decent headphone amp ?
are you doing a review on the lg v30?
HD599 vs HD 660S are there any big difference ? or its about the same sound signature ?
where did you get them for 350? e-bay?
Is there a good place to find HD 580's that's not sketchy?
What are the headphones in the background?
Won't you make a review of the 58X jubilee? Ain't that basically what you want?
Someone is sending a pair in then I'll be doing a review
Will they sound good with a dragonfly cobalt?
The Dragonfly is overpriced.
I'm listening to this video on my modded HD58Xs :P (I love the fuck out of them). I'm liking these modified HD700 driver based cans. My modded HD58Xs are by far my favourite though.
Instead of a NFB 11 would you suggest the R2R 101?
They are both fantastic. The R2R-11 is definitely more resolving
What song do you play on the outro?
Can we connect it with mobile through usb to 3.5mm Jack
Just got this fro 350. What dac can I use on it? can you suggest a few
