Those Hollywood Dun it's aren't easy- Especially the mares- but once you "have" them, they're a hell of a working performer.. very bold, dominant, confident line.. similar to the Hancock line. You got her brain Steve. Great job!... kicking loaders are hugely dangerous.

RUclips is a place where anyone can be the star of their own show. The talent displayed by RUclips amateurs often surpasses that of professional media "stars". Despite RUclips's annoying habit of CENSORING opinions that deviate from the approved media "narrative", its virtues keep me a loyal viewer (with an ingrained pinch of skepticism).
STEVE YOUNG'S HORSEMANSHIP is an example of exceptional ability and professionalism that cannot be surpassed by any produced TV show with paid "professionals".
Thank you, Steve and Tanya, for your videos. If I could lose 50 years and relocate to the UK, I'd buy a home with room for many horses and hire Steve to train all of them, so I could enjoy watching him work in person. I might even take up horseback riding, something I never considered among my enjoyable hobbies.

Please keep the videos long, as it's seeing the flow of learning that teaches the most.
Watching you work has led a relationship with a 25 year old into pressure pony, far nicer for the two of us, simply by looking at the feet and tutting to move back a step or two, the difference in the mentality, without using any equipment is astounding ✌️💕

Absolutely lovely horsemanship to help that horse. What a shame you have to undo what someone else caused....and not meaning Holly. If I was Holly, I would have cried walking my horse onto that trailer. I couldn't agree more, when you said, "If only I knew what I know now about horse training." You have no idea how many times I've said that. Also heard Linda Tellington say the same thing. We feel terrible what we used to do...but you move on and be glad you have learned a better way. Gorgeous horse!

Your deep understanding of the horse’s nature and how to clue the horse in to what we want it to know is so insightful. And deepest thanks to Tanya for filming all of your methods, scheduling your travels, and making it possible for us to see what you do.

What a gorgeous horse! My first horse as a teenager was a Quarter Horse / Thoroughbred cross. He was 16.3, muscular, super chill and the best jumper ever. He would leave at least 4 inches between his hooves and the jump. He loved jumping! I got him for a great price because the breeder bred him to be a stallion but he kept jumping 5 foot fences to get to mares. They gelded him at 3 and he still had some stallion like characteristics. I loved that horse!

Snowman was one of the best stadium jumpers in history. The man who rode him to the top got him because Snowman kept jumping out of his paddock and coming to the future owner's. That owner just died and there are video interviews with him floating around. He once said that in competition all he had to do was hold on. Snowman did the rest.

If you don't, you will get into serious trouble and get hurt or the horse will get hurt. Don't be afraid to ask for help. There is no shame in asking if you are having difficulty with something that is beyond your scope of experience. Wishing Holly's previous owner best wishes with her health issues. Steve Young here of course!
? And these that I think have something to offer:
      Klaus Hempfling
      Warwick Schiller
      James French
Rick Gore, Think like a horse
      Dr Robert Miller
      Ray Hunt
there are many more with varying ability and ways, and I find it very helpful to watch each one and learn from each how they handle the horse human relationship. Each one adds a bit for me to understand the others and, as Steve always says, take what makes sense to you and leave the other bits.
We learn from everyone and truly can see better what the others are doing when we watch a variety of awesome trainers, and even not so awesome ones that contrast and show up better what it is that works with the ways of the great trainers.

I had a "holly" a standardbread that was banned from the racetracks for life cause he was deemed to dangerous. He ended up with a family that actually been bribing him to do anything. Later got sold to ppl that put him in training..wich did not work out so they practiced gave him to me to get rid of him. We had our leader battles and at times it was very difficult but he turned around after a lot of work and became the most chill and relaxed horse I ever had. The kids handled him and rode him with no problems at all. They said you could not put a wagon behind him..he would go nuts. Well I decided to try one day just to see.. he acted like a model horse.. a little exited to get to run but not at all in a crazy way. Just happy to work. He lost a bandage on his back foot so had to stop to get it unwrapped and off. This " unmanageable" horse stood totally still with nobody really holding him while I unwrapped it.. put it back on crawling under the wagon to reach real good.
Loaded with no problems. Just had to send him in. Even with other horses loaded after not so easy to load he stood patiently waiting thru the whole drama.

Ignoring him when he started his antics worked wonders tho. He tried to intimidate me in the stall..ears back and kicking at the walls.. it did nothing for him. I did not move. When I didn't he had a wth moment and stopped and looked at me..then I gave him his food.

@@louisegogel7973 see I always had patience. No matter what happened I never lost my cool. I always been that way around horses and it have always worked. If it takes time it takes time. No rush.. no anger..no stress. Good things happen if you cooperate..if you don't we can wait til u do. Nothing gonna happen if you act a fool.. we gonna just stand here both of us til u decide to stop. When you do stop we move on. I couldn't put pressure on him really because that made it worse so I just waited his toddler fits out. That approach worked for him.
Pressure him and he would fight..he had learned that from before as a good method to get away. Me basically not giving him attention when he did throw fits was new to him. And he realized it was pointless. Like in the stall.. he would pin his ears while I brushed him and kick the wall..I just continued like I didn't notice. So all that work he did got him nowhere. And he realized it and did less and less of it. One day it had stopped.
Ruching out of the stall did not work for him either..we just got back in and started again..and again..and again...and like 10 loops later he gave in and didn't try to push. And the loops got fewer and fewer and stopped. Same with riding. Loops when he tried to buck or rear ..same result. And then it all stopped like it clicked in his head and we just did everything the normal way. I guess he figured out it was easier just to go along with what I asked instead of fighting it.

@@mariapersson9732 Thank you for responding, (with both comments). I really like your style… the non reactive inner calm and peace is probably the biggest part that settles another being when they are upset.
      Thank you!
