- The ups and downs of an on going masterpiece! Sam Wookey takes us through the story of his Mk1 Volkswagen Polo build!
A little history to the car; originally purchased from 'Trust' Manchester in 1980, original owner became blind, put the car into storage for 20 years, when the owner passed away the car was passed down to his brother who collected volkswagens and Sam bought the car from him with just over 7000 original miles on it!
Since ownership of the car, Sam has worked hard to restore it back to it's former glory and even a step further with a more modern engine and wheel setup!

This Mk1 Polo has taken the classic VW shows by storm this past year and I'm sure will continue to attract a crowd at every show it attends in the future! A huge thanks has to be said to Auto Shack for helping so much with the build of the car, Auto Finesse for keeping the paint & chrome trims looking spotless and of course Mr S.Wookey himself for creating such a beautiful car!

Josh Burkitt I agree with you! All the crap shitty videos on youtube such as cats on skateboards and the so called 'funny pranks', get millions of views but anything educational or amazing videos like this, get so little. It beggers beleif to be fair, that people would rather watch crappy videos such as a fat man bouncing on a trampoline, than this amazing content. What has society come to these days?!
This video is the best that I've seen for a long time. I've got a similar story as this chap with a silver VW Lupo. It definetly motivates me to do more. Keep up the good work

lovely early polo done a great job. I have a mk2f 1.0l polo fox breadvan h reg currently my daily driver have owned her 4 year's now love it. it is my intenechion to do a similar thing to her restore to a high standard but keeping it original. alltho I have thought about modding the engine to give her a few hp back lol

+LEP Automotive Just wanna make sure, a metabones speedbooster is just to enhance the quality when shooting in low light? So all these shots in the day time was just the gh4 and lenses?
+SoluriZe no the metabones speedbooster is to use canon lenses on the camera, a bi-product of using it is that it lets in more light! I personally wouldn't use Panasonic lenses.
LEP Automotive So the main thing that's going to make the quality look better are the lenses? I'm getting a gh4 soon, do you think a sigma 18-35 f1.8 would be a good lens?

+techyfings he works on his own car believe me! But there's some things (like paint and body work) that not everyone can do!
Its weird cause I am more into body and paint than mechanical work lol Just harder to do body and paint without the proper space tools if you wanna do a good job lol I am no mechanic or body/painter but love seeing people put their time, effort, and money to turn these cars into something beautiful

Had the exact same accident in my mk2 but the impact went up the side of the car, kinking the door and roof and so making it a write-off, very sad day
