  • The pandemic has delivered 18 months of surging prices and a buying frenzy so will 'normality' be restored to the housing market in 2022?
Rightmove estimates that 2022 will see a 5 per cent growth in average house prices so while this will be lower than price growth in 2021, the forecast is encouraging for homeowners thinking of selling in 2022.
What do you think? Will Guildford property prices continue to rise, grow at a slower pace; or will they crash? Add your comment below.

I don't think the UK government controls the interest rate and that the Bank of England monetary committee set the rate. Since your video was published the rate has risen by 0.25% and economists are predicting a further rise of 0.75%. The committee voted 5-4 for a rise on 0.25% but the four who voted against voted for the rise to be an even higher 0.5%.

Thanks for your comment, Brad. You are correct. It is the Bank of England that set the interest rate and the level at which the rate of inflation is advised to go. It is therefore the Government that set economic policy to attempt to keep the rate of inflation below the current 2% target (sadly it rose to 5.4% during 2021). Yes, I am aware the rate of interest has gone up again and is likely to rise further albeit in small steps.
