Hi, do you create a domain with AD or do you configure one with AD? I was under the impression that the organization first of all buys a domain name then uses AD to configure the domain which includes organizing the objects and resources among other things. Please correct me?
You need to purchase a Microsoft server OS. A server OS comes with AD. Then, you promote that server through the AD to become a domain controller by installing AD DS, this simply means that it's the primary server over all other servers and clients. Once promoted, you have the option to configure users, user groups, and other server settings. You create the domain once it's promoted as a controller. There will be options inside that allows you to configure a domain name.
Nice, you have made a lot of things clear to me
Thank you for the clear explanation 👍
