This is by FAR, the best interior car review seen in more than 10 years. Well done my friend! Straight to the point! Thank you for sharing so much info with us!
Great review learned a few things. Guess I should read the owner’s manual. I purchased a US spec Q7 Prestige new and it’s been flawless for going on 5 years now. We generally trade in at 3 years or so but we like this Audi so much we plan on keeping it for another couple years until the extended 7 year warranty is expired. Very likely buy another Audi Q car. BTW we regularly tow a 5k lb trailer and it tows beautifully.
Excellent! I’m glad you’re enjoying the car and thanks for the feedback. It is an exceptional car that can serve any family very well for many years! I am a bit disappointed that I didn’t get to tow in mine, as I do enjoy towing and I was sure the car would be able to take it in its stride.
Glad I found this video. Found it particularly interesting because I received the Q7 on my channel and vastly had the same conclusion. Just a great used buy. Good job.
acquired mine used. Couldn't afford a new one - especially the unit acquired (under $64K with well around 47K kms) which was well over $110K Canadian currency due to being an exclusive edition. Don't you just love it?!?! Only problem I have with it is that it chews tyres quickly due to it's weight and limited tyre choices for the 21inch alloys :(.All in all, you covered ALL the details mate - cheers!
Happy to help! I actually don’t have mine anymore, as my employers offered me a company Tesla and it just made financial sense to take it and sell the Audi. I still see Q7s on the road and admire their stance and presence. Enjoy yours!
@@PaulsViewsReviews I wish I could acquire an EV.Unfortunately there aren’t any incentives where I reside and not enough charging infrastructure :( Probably in the next 4 years I will consider acquiring an EV since I still have -5 yrs to pay for my Q7 - and my wifes Mini Countryman S ALL4
Glad you enjoyed it - thanks for the feedback. I bought mine with 45k miles and, mechanically, it was flawless for the time I owned it (which was 12 months, as I opted into the company car scheme and took a Tesla instead). Everything worked without issue.
I am very interested in a used Q7 but hear about so many electrical gremlins that it’s off-putting. I love the styling and it is very comfortable - but I’m no mechanic (I can do fluids, spark plugs in gas cars, and minor stuff). VW/Audi history of being unreliable concerns me. I’m in need of a reliable, cross-country AWD in the below $15k range. The one I’ve looked at is a 2013 TDI, Premium Plus, $13k, 136k miles on it.
I think, unfortunately, that the more luxurious the car, the more electrics, the more could potentially go wrong. I have had friends with Q7s of both the generation I had and the previous generation, which would be the 2013 model - they did moan about tyre wear on the earlier generation but none moaned about electrical failure. As with any used car of that age, I guess you'll just have to roll the dice and hope for the best but there are plenty out there so take your time and be picky. Good luck!
Great review. Had one on order with all options ticked but circumstances meant we couldn't take delivery. If you still have it, let me know when you want to sell it. i may be interested.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I actually sold the car back to Audi and jumped into a company Tesla about two years ago. I am a big fan of the Tesla but I certainly do miss the luxury and practicality (and presence, I admit) of the Q7. I would still recommend them to anyone who asks!
Cheers. To be honest, I sold it and took a company Tesla instead. The Q7 really was quite brilliant but it was expensive to run and the company car opportunity was too good to miss. If you’re looking for a Q7, make sure you find one with the best options: air suspension, panoramic roof and virtual dashboard.
Great video many thanks for sharing, I would like to have known the MPG real world and also reliability, as Ive heard some horror stories about Audi's but the Q7 seems to be a perfect family car
Thanks for watching. My total MPG during the year I ran the car was around 30, I seem to remember: If you stuck to more urban trips, which I did, it would sit between 25-30mpg, typically. I remember completing motorway trips, where I used the adaptive cruise control and didn't accelerate too quickly or exceed 70mph, and I achieved in excess of 40mpg sometimes, albeit not too often! I didn't have a single issue with reliability in my time with the car, and this had already done 45k miles when I bought it. It really was just a pleasure to drive. Find one with a warranty, just for reassurance, and I don't think you can go too far wrong. Thanks again.
Hi Paul, I just watched the video again, I was curious as to where and how you originally sourced your Q7 to get the perfect level of spec ? also what you paid and then where and how did you dispose of it , and what you sold it for , what was your depreciation ? How long did you own it for ? Sorry for the barrage of questions... Your video is the best review on the Q7 i have seen, and I do enjoy carwow Matt Watson ;)
Hi. To find the car with the right spec I just kept an eye on the Audi used car website until it came up. I then bought it unseen from an Audi dealership for £36k and sold it back to the same dealership a year later for £34k. On reflection, I would be unlikely to buy unseen again, as there were cosmetic elements of the car which I didn’t love and then took weeks being back at the dealership to get up to the standard I expected. They didn’t mind doing it, as they knew they should have done it anyway, I suspect, but it was still a pain. The dealership also knew they had a sought after car so wouldn’t budge on price, which was frustrating at the time but worked out well when I sold it back to them, I guess, as my depreciation was pretty minimal, especially as the previous owner must have lost over £40k in his three years of ownership.
Paul..... I came across your very interesting video whilst surfing RUclips for reviews of latest edition Audi Q7's. I currently own a 3-year-old 272 HP Q7 (Not quite the high spec version in your video) which I purchased new from Wakefield Audi in Sepember 2019. The vehicle has covered 31K very trouble-free miles with only normal servicing & a new set of tyres at 20K. Fuel consumption has been textbook & shows a recorded 42 Long Term mpg in summer months which drops to about 37 mpg in Winter. I purchased the car for 41K which included 2 free services & it is valued not much less than that currently. Very cheap luxury motoring in my book & a fantastic, reliable, large, powerful & very flexible machine. Certainly, consider another when the time comes but cannot get my head round what Audi have done with Petrol v Diesel, mpg, tax etc etc. What do I buy next without paying a fortune? I am reluctand to let go of this one, I would like to trade up to Vorsprung but they demand big books, even secondhand. Your advice please?
Hi Chris. By the sound of things, I’d just stick with your existing car. If you are enjoying it and the costs are agreeable, especially with car values being so strong right now, keep enjoying it until this ceases to be the case. There’s not too many ways to follow up a Q7 without spending a fortune or compromising on something. I moved to a company Tesla Model 3 and, while I love this car and the resulting savings, I do miss the luxury and practicality of the Q7. If I’d been able to get a company Model Y then I think I’d have been quite happy, but that wasn’t an option. Enjoy your car until you don’t, would be my advice.
@@PaulsViewsReviewsMy feeling about adaptive air suspension (not only Audi but any brand) is that it’s great if you are leasing, but if you own it, it’s very prone to failure. Many people decide to remove air suspension when it fails and replace it with standard suspension parts. I once rented a midsize sedan, but they were out of that class, so they gave me a free upgrade to a BMW X7 with adaptive suspension; it was great, but I shudder to think how much a failure would cost to repair!

Paul, great video. Have a Vorsprung for nearly 3 years, about to commit to the ballon amount £42k, have done 26k on the clock. Got it on a great deal 4 months before Covid rocked the world. What would you do? Commit and buy it, sell it and get something else or just return it (8k equity loss).
I’d pay the money and sell it, without a doubt! That’s an easy sell, as the specification on the Vorsprung is so good! I’d be surprised if the Audi dealers didn’t want to make you an offer for it.

Hi. Thanks for your question. This version of the Q7 has a pretty good reputation regarding reliability (based on the research I did before purchase). As for my car, I bought it from a main dealers and it had one previous owner, so the history was concise and complete, giving nothing away about any possible work done. I did have to get some jobs done but they were solely cosmetic, as the previous owner had not cared for the car as much as I would have done (scratches on the centre console, door and even window!). You will love the car, I am sure, and it is definitely a lot of car for the money. Unfortunately, this means there are plenty of things that could become expensive problems at some point. My advice at this price point would be to try and stick to main dealers for your purchase and get a 12 month Audi warranty to put your mind at rest in that first year. Hope you find what you need!

Hi. I kept the Q7 for about a year before moving to a company Tesla and I reflect with nothing but positivity about the car. My only advice would be make sure you get the specification you want and don’t compromise - there are enough out there to ensure you get what you want. Also, make sure the internal panels are as tidy as the external ones - I got Audi to replace the centre console in mine because there were key scratches all over it. The car is excellent so, if the service history is spot on and the previous owner(s) have taken good care of it, that kind of mileage will be of little consequence. Do your homework and it could be a luxury bargain!
Hey. I'm not really sure. I don't know as much about the gen 1 or their long term health. My brother in law used to have one from around then and loved it, so that's a good reference, but I also heard they eat tyres for fun. At the end of the day, for that kind of money, it is a hell of a lot of car - as long as that isn't the first outlay of many to own it.
I don’t know what that is? I’ve googled it and can see Acura is Honda’s more premium range (like Lexus and Toyota, presumably). Either way, it’s not a car we get in the UK.
Servicing isn’t cheap, definitely, but I’m not sure they prey on anyone; you don’t have to buy this or any other car of this type. Everyone should go into car ownership with their eyes open and do some research ahead of investing.
@@PaulsViewsReviews here in my country, prices of luxury car brands are double the price. These exact Q7 will cost me 100 to 110k usd. Used ones will lose 40 to 50% of its value. Middle class people will buy to pretend they belong to the upperclass of society but will scrimp on maintenence. Then sell it to another car enthusiasts on a budget and the cycle goes on and on.
You sir are totally wrong. Anyone who buys one of those s in for crippling expensive repairs and crushing depreciation. Avoid like the plague. You are giving very bad advice.
You do need some money behind you if you go down the route of any ‘luxury’ car from a premium brand, but I still think the Q7 is a good choice in that particular market.

Sorry I meant 2012 Q7 S line Special Edition….Thank you
I never drove the earlier shape but I knew people who had one and reflected very positively on it!
A 2017 Q7 is costing rhe same as a 2020 full electric ETRON.
Wow! Really? That's insane. My neighbour has an eTron - lovely car!
👌👌👌
675 £ for paint? F*ck that...give me car without paint then
😂
Bargain used ones but brand new price for maintenance 😂. They prey on people who wants to exude wealth but can't afford within the warranty period.
Sponsored by The North Face :}
Yeah, I kind of noticed that afterwards myself!
* Other brands are, of course, available. ;-)
me as a single 24 yo degen who just wants a big suv for long drives looking at these :D
You’ll love it! It’s a great car.

Definitely.
