I hate Ren!! I'm a below average musician and write and record my own stuff, and I see that the more I write I am getting better, with the plan of becoming better than average, with the dream of becoming 'good'... then this bastard comes along and moves the goalpost to 'excellence' off the field and off into the stratosphere... It's like running a marathon, getting to mile 25 and suddenly the rules changes and you have to run another 120 miles uphill to get to the finish... 😂😂😂 As you can probably tell I love Ren to bits really, he's my boy!! ❤❤❤
Shakespeare for the 21st century. With the added bonus of being anti-Capitalist. You couldn't want for more. Art makes you think, and great art changer's the way you think. Absolutely fucking brilliant.
All performed live, including the piano and strings, with only one edit (behind the wheelchair, and also possibly as he removes his hood early on). Ren's acting alone here is remarkable, as is the amazing camera work and planning of this one take. And then you factor in the insane lyric writing and story telling... There are few pieces of art as impressive as this.
There’s a cut when camera goes behind the wheelchair before rain, because they had to ensure mic and electric on him was protected. I only ever heard of this one cut. A comment by someone that that they thought there was a second at the hood because they thought his hand went down twice, is being carried through comments now. I have looked at this many times and slowed it down. His arm goes up to drop the hood over his back, so the hood lowers , but his hand is up, after dropping, you then see him bring his hand to his front and down. This action when you see his hand actually go down, many think its the second time. It’s not as his arm is up when hood drops so hand did not got down over back with hood. So its not a cut, and there is no place in the shot to do one successfully anyway.
I think the hood just accidentally ended up looking like a cutting opportunity, logistically I don't think it'd make much sense to try and put one there instead of in the vertigo shot (which I don't think they did either). In the BTS footage you can see them practicing the mirror shot, and in most of them the hood doesn't actually cover the whole frame.
@@QueenBabylonnia I agree. I watched JoeE Sparks reaction. He is a videographer and he too thought it looked like it could be a cut, but when he clicked frame by frame he realised that there was none. Your point proven!

Thank you for watching through before review... it's so much more impactful without breaks. Ren is able to make exactly what he wants so we get to see his thoughts... not a label changing it to make more mass appeal. He is so special.
Rens message is so deep and meaningful. We go to school, are told to do all we can to get the best grades, to attend the best colleges and universities, to get well paid jobs, chase the wealth, buy a nice house, have kids and repeat the cycle. We’re taught to earn more than we need, more than we could ever spend, while most of the world lives in poverty, bombarded by neighbouring countries. That cycle has to end. We need to become one with our planet and stop raping it for resources and wealth. We need to become one. Bring on the renvolution!

Ren did an interview with the Zach Sang Show - if any one wants to really get to understand who Ren is and the journey of our Sick Boi then this interview will take you there . Was it a cut? Have you got insider knowledge on that? I looked really hard and couldn't see it. And I could see no reason for it here unless something had gone wrong. One reactor suggested that it was to get the quartet in place, but there was no reason why it couldn't have been already there waiting. The camera had not scanned that part of the space previously. Hope: “I’m the voice you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope…”. This return line from “Hi, Ren” is important. In the beginning of the video, Ren (Jimmy) loosens the noose from the “money bag” around his head. Similar bags were used when people were hanged so that the audience/executioners did not have to see the physical, human reaction to their death. Facing the truth of death, struggle, and, ultimately, being guilty of whichever crime someone is guilty of, is important. Ren’s tale of Jimmy is one of revelation and of hope. It is one of self-realization and regret. But also, it is one of warning to the future; a chance at something better if people would just “heed this word to the wise”. Brilliant!

This could easily be a stage production! Ren is a master storyteller. I loved the addition of piano and strings. Ren said he’s been playing piano since he was 14 years old, so it was nice seeing him play at the beginning. The BTS that was filmed by Wolf Johnson is really good! Samuel Perry-Falvey and the crew dud a fantastic job filming the video. It’s a work of art 🖼️ with a message 💵
How seriously brilliant of Ren to consider including a scene in this video which allows him to fix his hair. Otherwise, since it's a one-shot video, he'd be wearing bag hair for the entirety of the video.
If I had some money, I would produce him writing, building and playing a 90 minute opera piece in a real theater with the full orchestra and all (sets, costumes, effects, lights). Ren is 100% up to the level of G. Bizet or G. Gershwin. Btw, the piano intro is a rewrite of the intro of Piano Concerto in A minor, Op 16 by E. Greig. Best regards.

Yup it was more or less all a 1 take and the music recorded during the performance. The string parts in this choke me up for some reason. Ren is and has knocked everything he releases out of the ball park. No one else like him. People should appreciate this talent. One of the best lyricists I’ve heard in a long long time. Everything is very poetic and his story telling and ability to make you enter the world he’s creating in a song is unreal.
Hello new sub here. I enjoy your passion for the art. I feel Ren is quite unique indeed so much so that I dont think he even has a choice. When something so profound exists inside a person it has to find a way out and we are all lucky enough to live in the time of Ren. Its not his musical skill although you cant say anything negative about that but its his character and his genuine and unique ability to tell a story that immediately other can relate to. If it's not the subject it's with one of the characters that we feel connected with which gives an emotional tie to the story! It's rare to find a person that can remain morally sound and authentically themselves when the toxic nature of fame is presented to them. As a musician myself I couldn't imagine knowing a person like Ren and actually performing with him as in my experience the more skilled the musician the bigger the ego which makes keeping a group of musicians together quite a long shot. The music industry is long overdue for a Ren to take it back into the hands of the artists and the small venue owners that support them and end the corporate monopoly of Ticketmaster/live nation as they seem determined to destroy our ability to enjoy live music. Will be checking out more of your content my friend!
I’ve been absent from YT for a bit, but I have been looking forward to this reaction. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and I’ll see around sooner than later ❤

Love to you Startle Studios! So inspiring to witness a global community uniting in the simplicity of the message. Do right by each other. Period. Love and appreciation to you for your gifts and passion to share!
This video has only been up 2 weeks and has 2.8 Million views. Wow! And how cool that his album "Sick Boi" hit #1 in the UK and also hit on the US top 200 . Not too bad!
Thank you so much for watching the video through before analyzing. Ren is a master storyteller and he does that through pacing, cadence, word choice, acting - and stopping the flow breaks the story. "A process cannot be understood by stopping it. Understanding must move with the flow of the process, must join it and flow with it." - The First Law of Mentat
He seems to have an ability to see how everything is connected to everything else. The first vocal is from Violet's Tale and he ends with "It's such a damned shame" from Jenny and Screech's Tales" an allusion to the generational tragedy theme, even though Jimmy's family is obviously wealthy. "As above, so below" (Bittersweet Symphony)
Really enjoyed your reaction 👏❤️ Ren is organic in his profound abilities to lyrically, musically, visually & spiritually transport us to the depths of ourselves and challenge us to look openly & honestly in the mirror ☯️⚛️🙏
Thanks for your reaction. I wish you find time for Ren's song Penitence. Performed with Molly McKinna. So beautiful it's painful, and so painful it's...
Brilliant reaction as usual. There was only one cut confirmed by Sam, when they go past the wheelchair at 40 before the rain scene as they could only do that once. He really is incredible and just never fails to impress! I don’t think you have done these two but I think you may like them as much as I do! The Big Push - Wade in the water/ Nina Simone/trouble so hard The Big Push - swan song 🖤
"Suic!de" is another masterpiece by Ren. Please give it a listen. It's about his best friend that committed suicide. The song is so painful and beautiful at the same time.
My favorite part is when he leaves the story to speak directly to the audience and then comes back into character and the way he conducts the string orchestra with hand gestures as he sits.
Jeff I loved watching your face while watching this You can tell you really enjoyed it and Ren blew your mind ,,,,, … This was a masterpiece … Ren said he would love to do something for Netflix one day, All I got to say If Netflix does not give him a platform they are dumb & crazy… This man is a musical genius, one talented young person and storyteller … Plus watching through his videos I think he would do wonderful as an actor if he ever would try his hand in acting, he takes you for a musical and theatrical ride … For sure … Sending love to all ... Bev 💕
I’m not sure if he meant to. But Re. If that mastdf at RUclips & reactions. Leaning into & letting people react to his stuff, Is a part of his success that others artist should look at. Ren is the Elvis of reaction channels. IMO

Ren blurs the line between rap and performance poetry. It is multi-sense art. He creates such aesthetically engaging pieces. It's masterful.

Love to you Startle Studios! So inspiring to witness a global community uniting in the simplicity of the message. Do right by each other. Period. Love and appreciation to you for your gifts and passion to share!
Thank you my brother! 🫶
This video has only been up 2 weeks and has 2.8 Million views. Wow! And how cool that his album "Sick Boi" hit #1 in the UK and also hit on the US top 200 . Not too bad!
his storytelling is so good that he makes you feel bad for someone who is definitely evil.
So well said, Facts.
Like one reactor said. This could be a theeater play! This could be on broadway! It would work!!
Love the quote!
Children of the Moon is a fun Halloween song so cool!
Great reaction. 💕👍🦇
Great breakdown of #REN as an artist we are very lucky to have this content thank you
Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor is the familiar intro Ren plays. Outstanding video, to say the least!!!
Its a two take, the only break is when the camera runs behind the wheel chair, that's not taking away the genius of this tune.
Thanks for your reaction.
I wish you find time for Ren's song Penitence. Performed with Molly McKinna. So beautiful it's painful, and so painful it's...
Almost makes you wish he had continued with more of the Grieg theme, but perfection as it is 🥹 Thank you, sir - always love your videos ❤
Thank you! 😊😊😊🫶
This is great art!
Love, love, love Ren's music. Cant wait to see your reaction to any of his videos!! Great job.
Brilliant reaction as usual.
There was only one cut confirmed by Sam, when they go past the wheelchair at 40 before the rain scene as they could only do that once.
He really is incredible and just never fails to impress!
I don’t think you have done these two but I think you may like them as much as I do!
The Big Push - Wade in the water/ Nina Simone/trouble so hard
The Big Push - swan song
🖤
"Suic!de" is another masterpiece by Ren. Please give it a listen. It's about his best friend that committed suicide. The song is so painful and beautiful at the same time.
Thank you ❣️
Great reaction ❤
Alright Jeff, missed your ren reactions , good to have you back on the ren train, always boss reactions . YNWA

My favorite part is when he leaves the story to speak directly to the audience and then comes back into character and the way he conducts the string orchestra with hand gestures as he sits.
Be your highest good
I love this video and the song. It is so beautiful. I agree: captivating
Bev 💕
It's something else, isn't it!
I’m not sure if he meant to. But Re. If that mastdf at RUclips & reactions. Leaning into & letting people react to his stuff, Is a part of his success that others artist should look at. Ren is the Elvis of reaction channels. IMO
Hi - would love to see your reaction to How To Be Me (Live) - another collaboration with Chinchilla
