You missed the point this wasn't meant to be a story or film with dialogue & a narrative. This a PR tool, a marketing strategy. The clothing the women were wearing was the subtext/plot & dialogue. Everyone of them had on something from/by Chanel over the last 100 years. This was a fashion retrospective of the brand & a tribute to its founder. It didn't matter if there was a "real" film for them to watch it was about showing how women 100yrs later interpret their Channel style & still love Channel
Yeah.... Marketing strategy with that kind of tool looks beautiful and fantastic..... That's how it goes by applying a particular tool....I think mixing with Particular tools makes more complicated in understanding abt that particular marketing strategy..... May be showing ads with particular tools can do magic with particular models to that particular marketing strategy..... GREAT ONE.....
I think this was a creative way to show a preview of what's to come. The models all looked lovely. Beautiful clothes, very chic but, wearable. Beautiful boots and gorgeous accessories! Well done Karl!!!
Everything is cinematic.... Screenplay is so good.... Kudos to the whole team.... Great one.... TQ...
Looking at the end thinking when does it start... then realize he is a pure genious. Wow love him, love his work, love this video.
I loved the way he created this advert and models wearing Chanel from different era's. It took e a minute but the jewelry caught my attention as well as the jackets!
Very diferent kind of women, each one with it's distinctive beauty. Some of them were bullied cause of that when were kids, because they didn't fit in the average. I find it inspiring. Karl ideas are always innovative and plasticaly interesting. My respect, sir.
id hardly say different.... 99% were white
So I rarely comment on YT videos but this comment is beyond sad, disgusting and ignorant. Your extremely poor attempt to justify the lack of diversity in the fashion industry is pathetic and frankly inhumane, a clear reflection of your character.
If you claim to make clothes for women then show women accordingly, in the many beautiful shades, shapes, sizes and cultures women represent. As women we are a diverse group . Putting thin white women at the center of it all and largely excluding women of other sizes and backgrounds is wrong. Specifically excluding black women and women with darker skin tones is white supremacy pure and simple. Despite your best attempts, it is unjustifiable. Anyone with a working conscience understands that. The video should have been called 'white-skinned women only' as Women as a group are in no way represented in this video. I personally would have loved to see true icons like Naomi Campbell and Jourdan Dunn in this video. Models travel to audition for designers from all over the world not just from Europe, the Fashion Industry is GLOBAL after all, and a wider variety should have been used. The video is in no way representative of or empowering to women, only a white feminist would disagree. Please don't twist the point of diversity to suit your little white supremacist agenda. Diversity is ultimately about celebrating the beauty in our differences as human beings, that we do not all look the same, we vary in appearance but we are all beautiful. Continuously focusing on thin white women has never and will NEVER equal diversity hun, diversity is the exact opposite.
Why do you insist on holding the fashion industry to a standard you wouldn't hold any other industry to? In every field, manufacturers cater to their clients, and high fashion is most certainly NOT consumed by women of all shapes, sizes, cultures, or racial backgrounds. Women with darker skin tones are not 'specifically excluded' by way of comprising a small minority of clients, and your careless use of the term 'white supremacy' is an insult to victims of real racial discrimination.
You seem to think that fashion should concern itself with diversity for diversity's sake. According to this standard, there should also be disabled models, amputee models, plain-looking models, and ugly models. But why aren't there? Because the purpose of fashion is to create beauty, and 'beauty' is something decided upon by a majority. The purpose of business is also to create money, and that is best achieved by creating products that appeal to and flatter the demographic majority. Fashion should not be expected to 'empower' women (a ridiculous term in this context, unless you believe high priced clothing = self worth) any more than any other frivolous product should. It's really as if some people have totally forgotten that fashion is essentially about making fancy clothes. That's it. If you want empowerment or social justice, close this video and go watch something that isn't expressly designed to be shallow. Karl Lagerfeld himself said he is not an artist but an illustrator and designer, no doubt in part because he is sick of people projecting their own pretensions onto fashion.
Btw, I have to point out the irony in bringing up how supposedly 'global' the fashion industry is while only referencing two models who are British. Being black or mixed race has nothing to do with being 'global'.

2:35 after the exams this is how I pass the paper and leave. The two ladies are my teacher and the president.
thats how i am when leaving the lobby of the langham hotel in london after a tinder hook up.
It's always refreshing to see collections being marketed in different subtle ways instead of just "bam this is fashion" but I swear major designers always ruin it
It's just awareness makes the concept to deal with those kind of aspects or strategies......
I NEEEEEED NEEEEEED NEEEEEED that Karl rag doll at 3:18. My bedding will now forever look unfinished to me, lest I acquire one. I'd make one, but I can't knit that well :(

Wonderfully chic,chic,chic
Everyone has the right to live their lives as they will. And I think everyone decides what to do or not. Parents always blame others about their mistakes with their children. The fact that they are celebrities doesn't mean they have to be a perfect person or stop being human, they can make their own mistakes because this is what a life is about. And no offense but besides criticizing you should pay more attention to your children and help them not to make the mistakes that you fear.
CARA!

The two top comments are silly :D This isn't about the directing or story line, it's about the clothing. If you want to watch a video or movie, with a non "booooooring" storyline, go watch the Devil Wears Prada. If your not here to enjoy the iconic and timeless fashion of the Chanel brand, then just get out.
