Yes! The right tempo for this nocturne. It’s got really long melody lines and a slightly quicker tempo helps keep it in focus. It’s too easy to get caught swooning over the delicious ornaments in this sensuous music.
+TiticatFollies He certainly draws some beautiful sounds from the instrument, there are moments however when he rushes the tempo. These highly poetical works demand subtle use of Rubato that allows phrases to breathe without loosing composure.
So anyone expressing a different view to yours is ''patronizing''. I'm sure you would fit nicely into a totalitarian state, that is if you dont already inhabit one.
Finally, how do you know I'm not in a position to assess a performance and express an opinion?. You say incredibly '' Please silence yourself '', if this does'nt express a closed mind I fail to know what does!. I quit, simply because I like to engage in a serious discourse.
Ecellent interpretation and performance indeed. But I wouldn't say "by far the grand master", jamesotek. He is great, but there are others great in their own way: Rubinstein, Biret, Pires, Rev, just to name a few.
If Iam sorry about missing out to hear one of the truly great pianists live, then it is Ivan Moravec. Incredible sense of balance and tonal beauty.
Wonderful interprétation ! R.I.P. Ivan Moravec
Goosebumps...
Moravec plays this piece faster (5'38") than the same piece he recorded in 1966 (7'23"). Here he is more straightforward.

I would say he's "by far, the grand master." No need to mention the others!

As previously stated, I like to engage in a serious discourse. Your pathetic rant firmly underlines this. Bye, Bye.
GOOD GRIEF!
I like his earlier (record) of the Nocturne even better than this performance. I, too, think his has set a 'new' all-time high for Chopin's music. CVD
