When the banks try to intervene, the sucker becomes angry. These victims are like children and they don't fully understand what's happened. Any money given to them will go directly to the scammers.
Dealing with this now. My MIL is getting dozens of calls a week from one scammer. She has sent them $65K so far and won't stop because she thinks she won the lottery. They are playing emotional games with her and she was told to not tell anyone about it. We found out 3 months after it started by a flippant remark she had made. This started in Sept. 2023 and is still going on this week.
Elderly man loses $800K in lottery scam: wow....being an elderly is not an excuse to be scammed for a huge sum of money. Some people are 100 and they are still living a very normal life. Age is not an excuse to be scammed and to blame age. Wake up folks.
So these guys want banks to protect us from ourselves? Did this guy even buy a lottery ticket? Old people should be barred from computers and especially online banking. They are complete suckers.

Yea something sounds fishy to me on this story, not saying it's not true but drawing $1,700 monthly on SS means he wasn't making much when he was working or he didn't pay much into SS and then to have a 800k house, where did that come from?

@MarthaLoweree appreciate your response I myself have been scammed multiple times because I’m the type of person that gives everyone the benefit of the doubt. Yet people have taken advantage of my kindness a lot. It’s interesting my parents never said much about not stealing. What they did teach me instead was to work for what I have. So the mindset of taking what doesn’t belong to me is unfathomable. Obviously it’s not right. Also from the Bible I was taught to “suffer yourself to be defrauded “. I would never sue someone. I do believe though it’s okay like you inferred to turn them in to the authorities Romans 13 speaks on just that. Thank you much! Mike
