I think it’s because the front end is so….unresolved . The elements just don’t work together. The bluff squareness, ok on its own. The horizontal grille pieces, ok on their own. Quad headlights, again, ok on their own. The vertical grille…perhaps if made a bit smaller and reshaped and more recessed, ok on its own. But put them all together and it just doesn’t work. The elements don’t harmonize or complement each other. It’s as though each piece was designed separately without any knowledge of what the other pieces would look like. Then they took the pieces, stuck them together on the front of the car and simply ran out of time to redesign to make it coherent and cohesive.

People were afraid of this car in the '50s because the repressed sexuality of the post-war era made them see the oval as a vagina. They hemmed and hawed and prayed to god and the Edsel went away. Now we know better and see a very excited face that can stay steady enough to not get swept away by that excitement while still showing it. Good thing the cars all come as kits now, so we can all try them all.
Beautiful car. Can’t get me head round why people hated these in the 50s. Imagine showing them the front grill of a modern 5 series!

Pacer and Ranger were the same body, the Corsair and Citation were Mercury based.
You should get your fuel gauge fixed. At 10-12 mpg you might get an unpleasant surprise in an inconvenient spot.
Since this video was posted I did get it fixed - new sending unit - along with a new tank.
