Darren also has a successful solo career- check out Insatiable ! An affirmation is a statement, framed in the positive (affirming the truth).. often used for emotional support or encouragement.
I got chills watching this lmao! This is one of my absolute favourite songs ever. It is just so so so good. I don't even know what to say. All the messages in the lyrics, Darren's voice, how catchy it is... It's just absolutely phenomenal to me.
When I started listening to Savage Garden as a teenager, I never listened to the lyrics because I've always been much more attuned to the melodies (of any song), but now years later when I'm an adult I find myself rediscovering a lt of my favourite songs because I now listen to the lyrics, and listening to someone else doing an analysis really helps. Thanks for that.
I obviously didn't dive enough into SG back in the day, thanks for doing it for me! 😁 I Love his voice and this video is awesome! And you break down lyrics like no one else 💜👍
The singer, Darren Hayes, just put out an incredible memoir called 'Unloveable'. He had a childhood of horrible abuse by a violent alcoholic father. He survived that ordeal as a gay kid (who mostly didn't know he was gay) and fronted one of the most successful pop acts of the late 90s.
Thanks Lee. Haven't seen you react to "To the moon & back". I thought in another reaction you'd said you had done it but could not find. If not, it's definitely one to do next.
the whole "Grass is no more greener on the other side" is actually true because, your life can be terrible, but even if your life suddenly changed and got much better, it still wouldn't be perfect. You would still have troubles and even suffering in your life, no matter how big or small. Everyone has their problems in life, regardless of how perfect their lives seem on the outside.
The magazines also have weight loss tips, anti-wrinkle creams etc or ones that point out the flaws of beautiful people with worst dressed lists and criticisms of people in the public eye.
by saying magazines promoting no self esteem he means that these magazines that have super models that look skinny - some unhealthily so - are putting an unrealistic expectation on young women. Girls see these images in magazines, and even social media these days, and they believe that's what they should look like, because if they don't they won't be popular, be attractive, or even be happy. They end up with low self-esteem because they're unhappy with their looks.
I can't wait to continue this rabbit hole. It has been so much fun watching you discover more of their songs. Thanks Lee!
Fantastic reaction, Lee! Savage Garden were a massive part of my teen years, so this video was a real nostalgic treat.

I saw them in Manchester on this tour back in 1999/2000. They were brilliant. Saw Darren again last year. Still got it!

Hi Leee, you should try "You Can Still Be Free", a very emotional Savage Garden song
Beautiful voice and melody! Nice lyrics too.

Riiiight? I feel self-conscious Enough without their help 😄🤦♀️ What an amazing song!
It's a song about facts; Beauty magazines do promote low self-esteem.
