I'm a killer main, but played around 60 soloQ games of the winter event when it first began. ONLY 1 killer threw snowballs and none went into a snowman. People are only queuing up for the extra bp, quick Q time, missions, or for the time advantage lost when the other side touches the event. It's sad

These are some hot takes. Plenty of people queued the anniversary event. I never had long queue times. It was always buzzing and the event functions were fun on both sides. Same for Haunted by Daylight lol
I think it's really cool that they resell old skins, the whole "veteran player" gatekeeping stuff is so whiny and lame, and im saying that as someone who originally had crowns before they gave them out. The events do change the gameplay and I like them a lot honestly, it just feels like ur negativity bias is getting in the way of letting u enjoy them. No they arent like 2v8 where the entire game gets flipped on its head but it is different and honestly its fun. Just because something has flaws doesnt mean it should be cast out entirely.
My entire cosmetic point is from BHVR not picking a lane on which side they want. Gives away veteran/old event items, but has money exclusive FOMO items in the store? How does that make sense? If they add p100 rewards I won't care as much.

The ONLY ITEMS that are ever 100% fully exclusively for money only are related to IPs, such as Alan Wake, Halloween, etc. I'm questioning how well you know this game.

Something coming back for iri shards doesn't mean anything, it's a "GET IT NOW OR MISS OUT FOR A YEAR" There is also the 2016 legacy which has not returned as I pointed out in the video, but I assume will be for p100 rewards My main complaint is that they use FOMO tactics in the store for money on the "BUY IT NOW OR WAIT A YEAR" but then actively bring back older cosmetics that most veterans liked to use as a sign there were playing the game during that time, which were free. They do the same thing with using "Old rift bundles" in the weekly store rotation, but don't put them permanently in the store. Same with charms (But who cares about those lol). It sucks that the events this year have felt lackluster in terms of shaking up gameplay compared to last year and/or previous years. Blood moon was the most impactful even if basin locations where bad at time. Where as Halloween and Winter feel like chores and/or had little to no impact. Also doesn't help these event offerings are personal (of course besides Anniversary) and not stackable which would make a difference for just bp gains.
Im over the event offerings this year. Im not even using them. My mikaela has over 200 as im grinding to p100 with her. Wtf am i going to do with over 200 offerings i wont be able to use outside of this event. The anniversary ones i like as i can use them all year round and i am still using all my 7th anniversary ones 😂

PLEASE They said they'd add a "Faster way to do bloodwebs" after the auto-spend, and that was a year ago! Hopefully it comes before bloodmoon because taking 20 minute breaks to spend sucks
I really agree with the issue of them giving away cosmetics and other things that you had to earn for money later down the line. The aniversary crowns use to show someone who put time into the game and had been around for a while. It was cool to see. Now its just 'Oh look the free cosmetic nearly everyone can get.' Same with other events and such. It should feel like you were there and earned these cosmetics.

I've been having a good ole time playing these events. I think people pick and chose what to complain about. Just do the event tome and collect the bp and event trinkets or whatever. Bottom line: be chill and don't complain.
Not complaining/raising points of interests is how things don't improve. I think many dedicated players find the events lack-luster, while the casual player-base could care less about them

The Ugly Christmas Sweaters that were for sale for only auric cells this year are all new, and some are even for IPs. Alan Wake's sweater will never be 'free'. (the only two that ever were was Bill's, which was given to everyone automatically, and Cheryl's for 3 specific days the year it came out). If you don't want to pay for any Original Character's sweater, next year they'll be available for Iri Shards. You complained about having the offerings in your inventory, then immediately talk about keeping at least 1 of the Anniversary cakes. This is why they don't just destroy those offerings. Yeah, you can't show them off unless you stream, but people like to have keepsakes. Some people even have Moon Bouquets, crazy as that is. The hell are you talking about the Blood Moon being well received? It was absolutely hated by a vast majority of the fanbase. The BP take was, originally, extremely pathetic for an event that was spouting about being 'the best time to farm BP'. All the red coloring everywhere made tracking a damn chore for Killers, and the abilities you had on the two sides were not exactly equal...and were frankly hard to use due to how limited the range actually was. I keep seeing you say the Mistle Toes offering isn't working, which I've heard a lot. But I kept checking after matches yesterday, and kept getting bonus BP from running it, so... Even then, if you play it you automatically start with 6 snow skulls, which is a time saver. Don't have to waste those precious seconds grabbing some to start the match. The Bone Chill event has always been MASSIVELY popular, it's why it's back for the 4th year in a row now. People adore throwing the snowballs and using the snowmen. I myself saw how exhausting some Killers can be (And every event brings them out. EVERY. SINGLE. EVENT. Some people just like to make others miserable), and was going Killer and going for 8 hooks then goofing off. Can't speak for the Haunts, as I wasn't able to play the Halloween event at the start, but they were still stupidly strong near the end of the event. The problem was that it just wasn't worth it for the Killer to spend the time to go in, get the Haunt, and come back out if you were trying for a win. But Survivors? Survivors could do that all day long, and still win. I was constantly creating a bunch of flash bangs and just leaving them on the ground, stockpiling the damn things, so folks could always go grab one quickly if they liked. Another note: BHVR split the event into it's own playlist, because a lot of people in the community asked for it. Some folks don't want to play with the goofy holiday event, and want just regular matches. So BHVR finally listened and granted the wish. Go play the event, use up some of those offerings you've built up, and don't take it so seriously.
Ugly Sweaters for Haddie, Vittorio, Gabriel, Renato, and Thalita were all released for free with the Winter Event 2023. I never said the new ones for Sable, Alan, Taurie, etc released this year were free. Having the choice to keep 1 offering compared to none at all matters to me. If I choose to keep 1 anniversary cake, that's my choice. Not being able to use 300+ arcane dowsing rods suck. Because if I have 300, and I want to keep 1, that is 299 I can still use as an offering. I can't currently do that. Blood-moon had positive emotions around it past the first week because of the BP use. No one actually cared about the event itself, which is the same for every event. BHVR themselves have said the misletoes offering doesn't work on twitter, with them only being not-killswitched to "Spawn extra chests and have 6 snowballs at the start of the trial" If the casual player-base who only plays during updates/events like the Bone chill event, great! As a dedicated player I want an actual different style of gameplay. Farming, which is what you do by going for 8 hooks then "goofing," gets really boring for me when I'm playing for 4-5 hours 6 days a week. I want to play DBD for DBD, maybe 1 farming match a day if that. Haunts got nerfed during the halloween event. It used to have no cooldown from haunt --> M1, then they changed that. Making them incredibly sluggish and dull on anything but basic M1 killers, who can't afford the time-sink into the void realm. Which, yes, let survivors do the event. Most didn't from my own personal experience. Granted, most gave-up/died before getting the chance to. Splitting the event into its own queue was a good idea, if they actually made the event unique from basic DBD gameplay. It is the same win condition, so people will play the same unless they want to farm. I hate farming in DBD, it's incredible dull and boring. But why would I not queue the event mode with the limited time offerings (if they worked) that I can only use in that mode? Or the base 100% incentive that the normal queue doesn't have for even more BP? If the basic gameplay was actually different and I didn't enjoy it, I wouldn't play the mode. I didn't play 2v8 because I found the queue times extremely obnoxious and survivor incredibly boring! I didn't even finish the tome for it. But the winter event offers nothing different. All my takes I've formed from personal opinion and talking to friends/mutuals. Now granted, I have a LARGE portion of people blocked/muted on social media sites for the smallest reasons (mostly if I just find them annoying) so maybe my algorithms are heavily altered to favor 1 side. Or maybe I just don't see any "casual DBD player" posts who might enjoy the events for how basic they are.

people have different experiences. No one I hanged out with really did/liked the event outside of the cosmetics, and going online it didn't seem to be overly popular either. Most complained the event was "Out of the way" so no one did it. Might just be the difference between veterans and casual players though
Thats horribly not true at all...like? Did you not really research the overall reception of the masquerade event? Everyone loved it BESIDES the BP gain...Like come on. The stuff both survivors and killers got where massive and people enjoyed that. I don't know where or who said this event as a whole wasn't good. I've seen everyone be positive about that event.
The most common complaint was the remote hook mechanic, which came back in 2v8 (which was also complained about because you couldn't save in the first version). Ignoring the masquerade, am I right on the other 3 events then? Because 1 out of 4 massive events in a year being "good" is a terrible track record
@dr.emarald I didn't hear much hate from the current event besides the Offering not being 100% functional. But yeah the masquerade was fine and the last hollowween event we had with the ghost and smoke bombs. I can understand and agree the others were very underwhelming.

After my first match on the new map I had 900k bp. Before the match I had 2k. Don't know how that could happen.

It's harder to do that as a Content Creator. Farming for 4-6 hours per stream is really dull and boring.

people have different experiences. No one I hanged out with really did/liked the event outside of the cosmetics, and going online it didn't seem to be overly popular either. Most complained the event was "Out of the way" so no one did it.
Might just be the difference between veterans and casual players though
Thats horribly not true at all...like? Did you not really research the overall reception of the masquerade event? Everyone loved it BESIDES the BP gain...Like come on. The stuff both survivors and killers got where massive and people enjoyed that. I don't know where or who said this event as a whole wasn't good. I've seen everyone be positive about that event.
The most common complaint was the remote hook mechanic, which came back in 2v8 (which was also complained about because you couldn't save in the first version).
Ignoring the masquerade, am I right on the other 3 events then? Because 1 out of 4 massive events in a year being "good" is a terrible track record
@dr.emarald I didn't hear much hate from the current event besides the Offering not being 100% functional. But yeah the masquerade was fine and the last hollowween event we had with the ghost and smoke bombs.
I can understand and agree the others were very underwhelming.
I'm kinda shocked by that tbh, I felt like every time I went on media people were kinda complaining.
Really hoping they change the win condition for the next one, hopefully they figure something out for Halloween. Or at least change the color scheme. Blue is SO not halloween XD
He has over 300 offerings of the kind he likes from over a year ago and is complaining about the ones he can't use? He isn't even using the ones he can, stop the bitching.
