  • Father-son photography team Nick and Kurt Gerber traveled across a divided country for their project, "Operation Route 66." The Gerbers rode almost 2,000 miles on their motorcycles, talking to vets and learning their stories along the way. The historic roadway is itself a connection, a link across the Southwest between California and the team's native Chicago. And their funding method, Kickstarter, connected them directly with supporters of their planned documentary.

    I am a Vietnam era vet and have had laryngeal cancer so I spend quite some time at the VA medical Center in Columbia, SC. My suggestion for the general public is to take a trip to any VA medical center and take a look at the sacrifice these heros have made. Look at the artificial limbs, missing limbs and look of stress on their faces. These people need our support, find a way
