African Cryptids Are Kinda Crazy

- It's always been weird to me that Egyptian Mythology gets so much of the limelight when it's not only a tiny part of Africa's overall mythology, it's also some of the least interesting, in my humble, albeit controversial opinion. It's just that with Egyptian Mythology you get 'bird guy who carries the sun' while in Ghana's folklore you get a tiny rat-man who carries around a living snake for a walking stick and wears a beehive on his head. I just think it's a lot more fun.

having a personal flock of birds is unironically really cool
I know right? I'm kind of envious of the little guy
Have you heard of chickens
Like hyper tails
I must know his secret; I’ve found sourcing 12-foot-tall walking sticks to be notoriously difficult
Tell me about it, the man must be a magician
(Love your videos, by the way)
@@Cree8Ball same to you!
It's cool to see African cryptids getting some well deserved attention, my favorite African cryptids are the Kasi rex, a monstrous trex creature that hunts rhinos and elephants. and the enndi tiger, which is basically a Smilodon aka saber tooth tiger.
Haven't heard of these guys
Kasi Rex sounds like one of those racist “Africa is the land before time” cryptids, like mokelembembe used by creationists to proselytize rather than actual African mythology
@@eddie-roo that is in fact what it is
@@Cree8Ball One small correction the chemosit can refer to two different animals the one you didn't mention was basically a giant baboon which could be a mythic account of the extinct dinopithecus
Or chipekwe
I love how the little girl was smiling as she told her father that her brother was just devoured.
2:16 That picture made me actually laugh out loud. "Hey have you seen my comedically large walking stick." Is something I'm going to quote till my deathbed.
My favorite was the children eating uniped bird. Also, these remind me of those Icelandic christmas guys.
Thanks for letting me know these obscured cryptids. I've been meaning to find more of these for my worldbuilding
World building for what
@@Cree8Ball Well the world I'm building is a world named Corotorn.
The world has many mysteries and strange phenomena. From supernatural to cosmic forces and others.
When the tides of fantasy meets the shores of reality, a strange world is born
this has to be one of the best topic to cover like there are so many people and ethnic/religious groups so it is just logical that they will have there own interesting and fascinating folklore which should be learn and need to be studied like we just only cover eurpean or american folk lore which is not fair imo africa is worth knowing so i really like videos like this thanks
This was cool. You gave me ideas for the world im building. I think I will draw upon these and other African cryptids to create animals for my world
Yo, that sounds pretty cool, guy
DO IT!
I think this video might just be the most interesting thing I saw all year. great job, good to have you back :)
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! Good to be back
@@Cree8Ball That is what I cherish about your "low" number of subscribers - you stay connected to us and appreciate us as much as we do with your incredible work
these creature are really amazing and great to learn about man i want to learn more about then please make a part two or some thing
RIP this style of videos, they may be gone but they will be remembered 🫡
Amazing video, I should subscribe! I also adore your Dodo Bird art.
Thank you! I hope you stick around for more, my guy
@@Cree8Ball I'm binge watching whatever looks cool, and it's overflowing me with creative ideas. I should draw more Angel characters, that's what I was inspired to do.
Awesome Video, great to see back. What are your sources?
My main source was A Book of Creatures, with some help from Wikipedia and various other cites that I looked at more briefly
I also go by the alias “Swallower of Men”
You should look into the GROOTSLANG it's very strange as well basically a elephant half snake xD
Haven't heard of it, I'll need to take a look lol
2:24 ohhhh a skeksis!
Very funky lads.
Still haven't gotten that flock of birds to fight my battles, even though I subscribed and hit the notification bell.
1:21 ZUKO!? What happened to you?!?!
There were, at one time, a megafauna called "terror bird." It was (iirc) 9'-12' tall (1.5-2 meters), with a HUGE pointed beak, and was known (by fossils) to use the beak to peak in and crush early humans' skulls.
I love you all tomorrow series please make a part three pretty please
I'm working on part three now but those videos take a long time to make
@@Cree8Ball Thank you so much for your effort!
I wanna be devoured by the gourd and eat it from the inside
I wish you luck in your endeavors
Yoooo he's back!
I am indeed!
The dodo thing looks like a human but it's just it's head stretched a bit with arms legs and a tail
Solid video
Solid comment
you deserve more everything i SWEAR
Thank you, that means a lot - glad you enjoyed the video
@@Cree8Ball sorry for my bad grammar, i loved the video, it was hilarious.
@@pasanathukorala7627 no, man, it's alright, I'm just happy you liked the video
Check out the blog ‘A book of Creatures’, all of these creatures and their designs can be found on there, looks that’s where old mate found all the info
You should have mentioned some of the spirits like Anansi
You have inspired me to feed my local crows.
I found the new Sam O’Nella
the dodo looks like the fake peppino final phase
God tier content
I'm glad you think so
In polish bulgur Can be spelled as ból gór wich means moutains pain- pain of the moutains and this guys head reminds me of sad little mountain
Coincidence? I think not!
When are you going to upload the next all tomorrow episode
Hopefully by the end of this month, but it might not be until early December
You still owe me a flock of birds.
They will arrive in your moment of greatest need
My favorite is the Mokele Mbembe
Ah, a fellow "A Book of Creatures" enjoyer!
Your dang right
Do Congo Cryptids Please
Do the tokoloshe!
What if the snake IS the elephants trunk” like Xavier renegade angel
Hell yes
The little Gourd fella is just a shiny Trapinch prove me wrong
Side Note:Yes I am binging this entire channel
I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. Did you finish your binge?
@@Cree8Ball update: So i never saw the "bat people on the moon" and the latest stream video. Forgive me father Cree8
Epic
3:53 THAT LOOKS LIKE A MEEB FROM MSM
Brother, I have no idea what that is, but I'm glad you're excited about it 😂😂
@@Cree8Ball Google "Meeb msm"
Mokele mbembe has left the chat
3:53 seems a pokemon
Pokemon, it seems
Auto translated English captions at 0:25
Wow, it didn't get a siNgle word right, did it?
So africans have "no snitching" as a folk tale .
Do north America cryptid
I think I'm going to do a video like this for all the continents, honestly
@@Cree8Ball ok
(clears throat and pauses for emphasis) Zanka-loli
Try to get through the rest of your day now.
Hold up.
Where is the grootslang?
How bout do a filipino folk lore vid
I'll start looking into that
So… the dodos just Kirby?
Pretty much, yeah
Omg Sam o nella has returned
In a new form, but yes, I am here
So the eloko might be pretty chill?
Well they're vicious, cabalistic dwarves that cause gangrenous, but yeah, other than that they're pretty chill
@@Cree8Ball Do you ever wonder if the seemingly increased viciousness of these figures reflected in these stories at least compared to what I have heard of elsewhere in the old world is connected to the environment? (Barring Japan, the land of the most frequent earthquakes and tsunamis)
Do you think it might have something to do with the locals trying to give form (and thus a way to avoid or combat)to tropical diseases and unseen animal attacks?
Like no matter what you had to deal with in prehistoric Sweden I'm pretty you'd and your society at large would never have to deal with would be things like baboons actually snatching babies, hippos and crocodiles bisecting men or flies that could maim you with one bite?
Mokolembe
No love for Mokele-mbembe?
I didn't see anything about the Mokele-Mbembe while researching, but you better believe I'm gonna look it up as soon as I have the time
Then there's stuff from Africans mythology like the Grootslang
Make vedio on christan mythology creatures
I mean dodo's didnt have a fear response
Dodo all powerful
All hail
TOKOLUSH?????
You know, I hadn't seen these guys until I saw your comment and I kinda wish I had covered them in this video
I am in love with the zankallala
As do I, that man was the reason I wanted to make this video to start with
Man fuck the dodo, I want more cool bee Hive man
the best african cryptid is still the arserape demon
Eloko is just random irish guy bruh
He got lost on his way home and ended up in the Congo
Discount salmonella
Poggers
Very
I think greek mythology is more mainstream than Egyptian mythology
Probably, yeah, but Egyptian is definitely the most mainstream African mythology
@@Cree8Ball yeah
Why are the arms and legs of some of these white ?
Some of what
@@Cree8Ball the animated figures
why are they white lol?
I don't know lol, it's just that the reference pictures I was using depicted them as white. It was A Book Of Creatures, if you're interested
