She wrote this one as a response to media claims about her because the picture they paint is such a different person she said "I need to write a song about her."
Once the media decided to paint her as serial dater who can’t keep a guy and goes crazy once they leave…she thought, the girl you’re making me out to be, she’s super interesting! I can write a total jam about her! Blank Space was born! I love when she takes the media portraying her in a negative light, and just leans into it. Takes all the power out of their hands and now she’s in charge. She’s a mastermind!
The song is so good and to think she wrote it as a satire because people think she is like that and has had many boyfriends which she hasn’t
I’ve become a Taylor fan in recent years - ever since she finally was able to leave her old label, all her new releases are incredible. I love hearing her music that she wrote the way SHE wanted it to sound. Would love more Taylor Swift reactions! ❤

I love the word play that you can discover even after your 20th listen. Small things like, “I can make all the tables turn”. There are three levels to that one. The one in the story itself, like she’s turning the tables on her boyfriend. The jab at the media portrayal of her- she’s taking the things they say about her, turning it into art and throwing it back in their face. Finally, she’s saying she can make the “tables turn” with her music (like record player turn tables). It’s so clever and I love her for it.
