- Ontario Premier Doug Ford confirmed Friday he is dropping the writ next Wednesday, sending voters to the polls by the end of the month. Ford says he’s seeking a stronger mandate to tackle U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat of 25 per cent tariffs on all Canadian goods. Colin D’Mello reports.
Trump renewed his threat to slap Canada with sweeping tariffs again Friday, while claiming the U.S. no longer needs to rely on Canadian exports. His repeated comments have reignited a movement to reduce our reliance on the U.S. by knocking down inter-provincial barriers. Touria Izri explains.
In Ottawa, the race is underway to determine the new Liberal leader and Canada’s next prime minister. Former deputy prime minister Chrystia Freeland is making her case for why she should replace Justin Trudeau, as Mark Carney gains momentum in the race. And there is less than 50 days left in the campaign. Mackenzie Gray reports.

Provincial conservatives should have called for a leadership review instead of giving in to a self-serving election. Doug knows the next two years will be brutal for Canada, and his popularity is bound to tank. Just like Trudeau in 2021, calling an early federal election to cling to power, Doug is now pulling the same stunt provincially. This isn’t about the good of the people-it’s about protecting his own grip on power.
Why a leadership review when all polls have conservatives in the lead? You want to compare ford to Trudeau in terms of popularity?
Let him do it, we can't miss a chance to vote him out and decide IF we should JOIN USA or NOT ! I do NOT trust any politician to take decisions for us.

Doug Ford's handling of the Greenbelt scandal is disappointing. He publicly admitted to prioritizing personal greed over the interests of Canadians. Even though he apologized, it’s hard to ignore the damage done.

"Rehabilitation" (non-compulsory, of course!) should all be considered an IMPORTANT part of tackling the drug problem in our country.
Right now, people experiencing drug use problems are having to wait to obtain support in their struggle to survive.

I know that Doug has been experiencing a greater support due to his stance on the whims of the unfit president of our neighbouring country. Yet, let us not forget who Doug is and of his costlier decisions, actions, and statements that he has made throughout his career as a politician. The people of Ontario do deserve better as do the people in my province, Québec. Under the false pretence of protecting the French language and the identity of Québec, Legault is a disaster and is happiest/is in his true form when dismantling the human rights and opportunities of Canadians who call Québec their home. This is great. I had a teacher back in the 60s who talked about growing food this way and doing things locally in general which would save in terms of pollution with transportation all over the world.

Carney has extensive (real world) experience in finance- in his educational qualifications (PhD in economics) + in his work as Governor of Bank of Canada and then Governor of the Bank of England.
He was also the United Nations special envoy for climate action and finance.
