The best thing that can bring casuals/lapsed RTS fans back is having a great single player campaign. I literally don't give a sh*t about 1v1 balance. Give me old Warcraft/Starcraft/Command and Conquer style campaigns please.
I also don't care about balance: I've heard Putinbots complain about how NATO units crush WARPAC. Yes they do. Everything behaves as it should. A Challenger 2 should be the hardest thing to kill on the battlefield, and should one shot everything whilst on the move cross country. Warno doesn't have a campaign (yet)-it's still in early access: but a scripted campaign and dynamic campaign (turning it into Wargame combined with Total War) are coming by the end of the year. I've put more than 60hrs into it now (it honestly took 60hrs to learn how to play), and it's the best [and best looking] RTS I've played. Then again, Airland Battle-my introduction to the Wargame franchise (having loved their previous game RUSE): ruined me for all other RTS games. I can't play CoH or AoE now: as the combat's utter shite by comparison. Men of War is, of course: the exception. That's my other favourite, though I don't have the 80GB SSD spare for Call to Arms/Gates of Hell. Regiments is also very very good and does some new mechanics really well-an easy recommendation for $30, but Warno's better. Graphically, explosions are next gen. Volumetric smoke effects only have Broken Arrow as a peer, but Warno's much nicer artistically, so their volumetrics look better. It's a great game with an insane amount of content already-there's years of gameplay in the Skirmish, multiplayer and Dynamic campaign (that was the weakness of ALB, a couple of stupid decisions meant the dynamic campaign sucked-they got it right with Steel Division 2), and it's only going to get better. Warno basically replaces the Wargame and Steel Division franchises, by combining them. At least for a while, as Eugen are a small developer so can only do one game. I also really like the UI over ALB/SD and AI assistance. I missed the buggy first year, so just bought it a couple of months ago. It's problem free, as far as I can tell. I'm so impressed, I've decided I'm even going to buy it for a friend for Christmas. No, I don't work for Eugen. I'm just recognising their achievement. There's more than years of work: there's mastery of their craft in this game as a production.
I don’t care about single campaign, but I also don’t care about balance either. E-sports destroyed gaming imo. Turned it from fun with friends inside the house (i.e., not sports) to something terrible.
If you want Starcraft with starships, Conquest: Frontier Wars. It's technically Starcraft but has many original things like maps that represent various solar systems linked by wormholes and supply lines.
I'll just say this: - Starcraft 2 campaign mode (all installments)... plus my own conversions. - Command & Conquer 3 Kane's Wrath, One Vision mod - Warzone 2100, plus my own mods.
Starcraft is definitely the O.G. and probably GOAT but there's been a lot of base builders and borderline SC clones with QoL changes that are just too hard to pass up. Halo Wars is more basic but relaxed, Supreme Commander is slightly more rooted in realism, Planetary Annihilation much bigger, etc. Different scratches to satisfy that RTS itch.
i wish there's an android/pc game that has mechanics like that on prehistoric tribes(a java game) where units has different jobs on the camp and they level up that job the more time they're doing it, and then you can assign them to do other jobs so you can have them become a full package, like a baker that's also a beast on the battlefield. also male and female units create children that grows up to become a valuable occupants of your tribe which is nice.
Well played well played! You are getting me to add these games to my wishlist because you know I'll forget them before there is a sale. Luckily I already have a few of them, but there were a few more gems here. Really like games with a decent campaign mode and a multiplayer scene which actually has players. Needs more vodka and potato salad.
Try also those two games: * Act of War * Act of Aggression They both have Command and Conquer vibes (with an ok campaign!). Multiplayer is dead in both ;-)
Also spellforce 3 Ai is the best aside starcraft 2. But its more about macro control and smart moves instead of how fast you make actions. Its campeign is bumpin but the Skrimish is the fkn best
Yeah, he was forced to serve in Afghanistan for 5 years. I don't think he ever had a gun though (there was a too high possibility of "friendly" fire) - Soviets kinda hated Baltic people, so they mostly dug trenches and stuff like that.
Ahaha, yeah, I was considering which one of these to put in and got confused in the end, and... well, Halo Wars 2 is great. Nevermind I will cut it out and rename the video to Best 15 lol

Ditto.

Did anyone ever play the original Stronghold? The original game was so much fun and was packed with little details that made it so endearing.
If you want Starcraft with starships, Conquest: Frontier Wars. It's technically Starcraft but has many original things like maps that represent various solar systems linked by wormholes and supply lines.
It's cool, but it's super old as well
Conquest frontier wars has an awasome mod. Its an old game but it so good. I play the game not so often but i know it from the first demo came out.
I'll just say this:
- Starcraft 2 campaign mode (all installments)... plus my own conversions.
- Command & Conquer 3 Kane's Wrath, One Vision mod
- Warzone 2100, plus my own mods.
Don't forget about Sanctuary: Shattered Sun and Retro Commander. Like Total Annihilation.
Beyond all Reason is brilliant

Command and conquer tiberium wars is beautiful
"just like your hope for your boss to increase your salary" bro why you do us like that 💀

sick list. Thank you.
I played Dawn of war 1 & 2. I had ton of fun, how well-made game. Best to me. Couldn't invest my time in 3, seem changed formula for worst
SunAge was and still is an underrated rts game.

Oh goody goody lists like this are almost as good as potato salad with pickled fish 😊
I think spellforce 3 needs some recognition. Best competitive RTS since i played Starcraft 2. The Ai isnt cheating. It just has amazing Ai.
Spellforce 3 is a great game, but it would go into a list of games like Warcraft 3, not like StarCraft :)
Thank you for this!
Air mech strike kinda looks like Herzog Zwei.
C&C tiberium universe- one love, forever 😍
What's the full quote? "I'm not a number, I am..." from a movie or song I hear it before...
Liking for grandpa and his vodka 💪
Iron marines 10/10
lol i love the roast, subbed
4:01 Yea, but bug with mouse cursor deny you playing this game on PC or on steam, at least.
timestamps for DoW games and Halo Wars are switched
I second this.
Heyy a lietuva shout out! Russia wants potatos those dogs can come try and take them. 🇱🇹 forever!

Who is the best one ?
3 more games on my wishlist
Whats the game in to the thubnail?
Crossfire: Legion
@@ColdBeer thanks is it any good? Haven't heard any buzz on it
Well, honestly, not so much. But you can try free demo on Steam
@@ColdBeer ouch is no good? Don't want to waste my time if not even on a demo lol
Well, I usually don't trust strangers, but if you do, then all good xD
I'm not sure why exactly but I hated Planetary Annihilation but loved Supreme Commander.
Supreme Commander 2 was also bad.
aquatico did u try this game??
Played the demo. I felt that it was quite complicated for me
iron marines has a squeal on android
Yep, Dawn of War 3 is bad. 1 & 2 good ....3 bad. Don't touch.
You missed Littewargame
you grandfather was in the Red Army??
Yeah, he was forced to serve in Afghanistan for 5 years. I don't think he ever had a gun though (there was a too high possibility of "friendly" fire) - Soviets kinda hated Baltic people, so they mostly dug trenches and stuff like that.
Sorry to correct you but that is Halo Wars 2 not Halo Wars Definitive Edition
Ahaha, yeah, I was considering which one of these to put in and got confused in the end, and... well, Halo Wars 2 is great. Nevermind I will cut it out and rename the video to Best 15 lol
after c&c tiberium wars all other non AAA rts feels like trash
The only good one is BAR lol
Sorry but nothing can compare with stacraft!
I agree xD
