  • Drones are an amazing automation tool in The Planet Crafter when you unlock the Drone Station. I personally find them super satisfying to get functioning. But they have a few quirks and nuances that if you understand will allow you to better leverage them, especially as you start really scaling up the size of your outfit.
    Most notably when you have a ton of extractors you may find resources piled up in them even though your demand containers aren't full. I'll explain how to deal with this.

    How to do it effectively: Autocraft drones, setup delivery to the drone station. So drones can deliver drones as demand increases. And of course, make a bunch of drone stations, 1:50 drones or so.

    A very helpful video. I like the logic of how you are setting things up.

    love this system so much
    its so satisfying figuring everything out and realizing that you can compress most materials into rods using autocrafters and become rich like a goat lol

      yea it's been so cool playing with this, it scratches the productiony/logistics itch but without being too mathy

    Well I guess it’s no wonder my materials were moving so slowly. I had the priority set up backwards lol

      @@sigCrafts does it matter what i set my drills too? or only my lockers

    Very helpful. I kinda thought the food and algae worked that way (i.e. drones will pull from them even if they're not specifically set as supply), but I couldn't find anything to verify that. I just set up some farms and algae extractors, and suddenly I had big lockers full of them.

    • @sigCrafts
      @sigCrafts  Месяц назад

      yea Im glad they did it that way since you can't otherwise set anything for them.

      You have the option to 'supply or demand' on farms, but not for algae. Algae is automatically brought to a demand source. Regardless of distance to an autocrafter, just would need a demand chest for algae nearby. Farms and food growers do have a supply and demand option so I use those just to be safe.

    what is that box icom with 3 arrows below the supply icon in storage containers, what does it do?

    • @sigCrafts
      @sigCrafts  Месяц назад +1

      it's basically a 'supply all' option adding every item as a supply so you don't have to click each one. useful for generic drop boxes. but over-using seems to cause hitching if you use it as a shortcut for hundreds of supply containers. found that out the hard way :D

    So, if I build an auto crafter in a lake and surround it with algae generators, I can have it constantly produce bacteria, which the drones could take to storage and rockets to be sold?

    • @sigCrafts
      @sigCrafts  Месяц назад

      yes! in fact that's a great way to start with token farming and one of the first things I did as well. Plop an auto crafter in the lake surrounded by water collectors & algae generators. Eventually you can start pulling in sulfur & eggplant to get fertilizer, and so on so forth...

    so i set my lockers to priority, not my drills, ok?

    how do you deconstruct Tier 1 drones? I only want Tier 2 drones, thanks for the video, very helpful. I am really enjoying the game

      U have to grab them out of the station as they come in (it may take a while) but you can then put them through a recycler

    • @sigCrafts
      @sigCrafts  Месяц назад

      seems my reply got auto-modded by youtube a few times and Im not sure why :/ set a container to demand t1 drones and they'll get dropped off eventually. then put them into a recycler for their parts

    I get about 10 or 12 drones then some just start sitting at the drone base even though there are things waiting to be moved around. Anyone else have that happen?

    • @holidayinn4293
      @holidayinn4293 Месяц назад

      You don't have enough docking stations to support your drones or you're using the stations to store junk which also makes it where drones can't dock and reset their tasks.

    • @sigCrafts
      @sigCrafts  26 дней назад

      check for storage constraints. remember that drones aren't predictive so they won't know something is about to be consumed from a container with an autocrafter. if youre auto crafting you'll want at least lockers if not t2 lockers being used to make sure there's enough space to allocate more drones.

    Wait, autocrafters picking up algae by themselves ?? They don't seem to do that for me. What gives? Are you using a mod ?

    • @sigCrafts
      @sigCrafts  23 дня назад

      no mods. as long as theyre within range of the auto crafter (20 meters) they should just grab them up, same with plants in growers/farms. Drones should also grab them as well without setting them as a supply
