We did this drive this morning for a day trip and I wanted to show my international friends, this was perfect thx 👍 even got a tiny glimpse of Goldfield in there too
Yes! As soon as the entire road opens back up, It won't be too long before I'll have video of it. It's been closed for about the last 9 months due to a huge fire up there last summer.
*I like making this trip on a weekday morning when there's almost nobody else on the road or anywhere between A.J. and Tortilla Flat.* *I do it about once a week or sometimes every two weeks.*
That was a PULL and REALLY GOod camera work! The music was Bob Wills-ish too which added a lot! FINE job! If yall get down this way you need to hit the Blue Ridge Parkway and run it from Virginia to Georgia. It just rides the high tops and is like an airplane ride without the plane. It comes around 10 or so miles from here, depending on which way you want to get off. WE're already 32 to 3400 feet above salt water so can just go up so far. Thanks Scotty and Mel. Hope yall had a fine time at Tortilla Flats!
Thank you thank you Lewie! Unfortunately it's a solo ride for me on these mountain roads. Mel can't handle the scary drop-offs. I was pleased with the song for this video too. My choices are very limited when picking songs for videos this long and I can't place multiple shorter songs because RUclips's editing doesn't allow that option. That's why we sometimes hear the same song on different videos. Forgive the late holler-back...been back at work this week.
@@espeescotty 10/4 on the work. As an old pal always said, Wherever you go, there you are! And Cheryl is about like Mel on the drop offs. There are some around here in some of these developments that I didn't like one bit driving a truck off of so I can't blame them at all. And just keep playing the good stuff. You can't wear them out. Take care and don't work any harder than you need to!
This is Jeremie, I work with Tortilla Flat. Would you be ok with us sharing this on our social media? We will happily give you all the credit and link to your channel. We love this footage!
Do they not allow anyone to drive past your end point anymore (T.F)? I know it was dangerous before but not sure if they still let people drive past that point
At the time that I shot that video in summer 2019, the road beyond Tortilla Flat was open, but only for a few more miles, to the overlook at the top of the Fish Creek Hill grade. Due to a very large brushfire earlier, the road was closed at that point northward. Later, I believe in August 2019, the road was opened again for a short time, until a large monsoon storm over the fire burn scar, caused a very large landslide that came across the road shutting it down again. As of today, I really don't know the status of the road. I would definitely like to shoot the remaining section of the Apache Trail from TF all the way to Roosevelt Lake, but I'll have to wait for the cooler weather months so that my camera won't overheat. Thank you very much for watching.
I was pleasantly surprised that I had clear sailing when I shot this video. But this was also shot during an Excessive Heat Warning day with a temperature of 114°. I mean that should mean more lake goers, but it was surprisingly quiet up there at that time.

Thank you! I'm really glad you enjoyed it and will share it with your friends.
I miss going down that road to canyon lake as a kid.
That drive was not bad. Thank you! I was expecting you had to drive through a large mountain. With a large large drop.
Yeah, as long as you pay attention and respect the turns (no guardrails), it's a very nice drive. Thanks for checking out my video!
The Pit Stop before waterskiing at Canyon Lake. Good job videoing this!
Thank you...I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Memories of a great motorbike trip, want to do it again some day. ...
Oh nice! I hope you can do it again too.
quite thrilling on a bike, thousand-foot dropoffs in some places with no guardrails !

Yes, it sure is a nice drive...and the fewer the cars the better.

I miss that road so much, just don't off the edge!
Respect the edge for sure!
I wish every trip to TF was like that, too bad it is usually people pulling boats, slowing down traffic.

Don't know how fast your driving or what time of year but I've been to Tortilla Flats and takes alot longer than 7 minutes
This was shot over 2 HOT days in August 2019, so NO snowbirds in the way. Yes, it does take just a bit longer than 7-minutes in person.
