You could be right about the fan, but hearing a uncunfortable noise is a lot better than having your lenses fogging on the middle of your play season so... yeah i guess it is good to have it than not.
The fan was a selling point for me. Mine always fogs up when it is cold, just for the first 15 mins or so. Having a fan to keep it clear once it's all up to temperature sounds great, even if it is a little loud. I don't plan on having it on all the time.
@@FleaOnMyWiener Received mine yesterday (UK). It's really nice. Very comfortable. For comparison, I only have the Quest 2 elite strap with battery and the original Playstation VR. It's as comfy as the Playstation VR for sure. I've always thought the halo design was the way to go, and it's so nice to finally use a strap that keeps the weight off the cheeks. It is pretty well balanced, but maybe still a tiny bit front heavy - I occasionaly need to nudge it upwards from time to time, but I may not have fine tuned the adjustment yet as there are lots of ways to tilt and extend bits. I think because it's no longer airtight around my eyes, it hasn't fogged up yet so haven't had to use the fan. I suspect that it may do the job keeping the lenses clear though. I did try using the strap without the eye guard like a quest pro. My experience was that it gradually worked its way down so it was resting on my nose, but again that may be down to me just getting the adjustment right. Without a doubt though, this is a lovely strap. The fan is great and much quieter than having a fan on in the room!
The fan makes a lot of sense for playing intensive games like FitXR or Beat Saber. BoboVR expects the spare batteries available in Q1 so it won't be long until we can order a spare one.
I personally would've preferred a built in audio solution, fogging and sweatiness isn't an issue for me so I'm just not the target audience for a fan. I guess some out there are overheating though, must be a reason they thought to add this. Probably helps I live in the UK, always bloody freezing here
I quite like the fan as I am diabetic and my face gets hot, wearing glasses means that if I am heating up in the chops I need some means of cooling, I do have a mobile air conditioning unit where I play so turn this on. A good idea for me at least, of course, not everyone will want the fan option.
yes, fan is kind of mandatory for vr in tropical country, it is so hot here, we only do vr at night and even that need to be under air conditioning room, otherwise we will be sweating like a pool. 😢
Fan is not as loud as he’s making it out to be. It’s totally fine. And the battery can be checked by pushing the little button on the side of the battery. Spend more than 1 seconds looking at it and you would see it.
Got the M3 recently and like it as I loved the halo design for my Q2. That the S3 has a bigger back cushion and holds better makes it tempting. I'm not interested in the fan as I just have an actual fan blowing on me if I'm doing cardio intensive VR games. The battery/fan indicator is useless as a solo user as the light "beep" when the battery runs out is a gentle enough reminder for me while playing. Hope they offer up a cheaper version without the fans or indicator as I like the better fit/comfort aspect.
@@the-biggest-turnips It sucks air in and directs it onto your face inside the headset. You have to have it installed Perfectly and make sure the pad sits in front
I could see the use of a fan at summer time when it is about 35 degrees (and most people dont have aircon where i live). Then i would a 100% switch some noise for some aircon
You didn't mention a very important bit of information which is; Does the battery on the headstrap actually keep the Q3 topped up? If it does not, then how much does it extend the Q3's battery life? I know the M3 did not keep the Q3 topped up (a couple of people report that it did, but most report that it did not) which is the main reason I ended up going for a different solution.
Just by looking at its specs it should be able too. I use a 10,000 MAH 20w power bank on my quest 3 and its able to keep the Quest 3 fully charged during even intense gameplay. My battery life was about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. I would assume this should be similar.
@@chan13153 If your battery life is 2.5 - 3 hours with a 10 amp hour battery you aren't keeping the quest 3 fully charged, unless you're referring to the "battery life" on the powerbank itself. Also you need more than 20w to keep the quest 3 fully charged during "intense gameplay". For example mine needs a minimum of 22w to maintain charge. The quest 3 has an internal 4.5 amp hour battery, which will get you around 2 hours of gameplay, a 10 amp hour powerbank attached to it should then get you around 6 hours.
@@jimmydesouza4375 I'm referring to the battery life of the power bank itself. And by intense gameplay I mean asgaurds Wrath 2, Virtual desktop (PCVR) etc. Total battery life should be somewhere around 4 1/2 hours. I mostly just hotswap the batteries that I own so I get unlimited playtime. Your forgetting about the fact that these power banks are usually about 60-80% efficient. The power bank I used was from anker as well. Anker 20w PD 10,000 MAH power bank. I have also tried other cheaper ones and they give me similar results.
Does the battery keep up is the most important question. My current solution claims 20w output but doesn't keep up on some games. No point switching if this isn't better.
@@jimmydesouza4375 I was referring to only the powerbank. I have tried several 20w PD powerbanks and they seem to all maintain the quest at 100% during intense gameplay.
I had the m3 pro and it felt very noticable front heavy, no matter how it was adjusted battery on or off, didn't like that too much and got the kiwi headstrap instead. Felt really heavy and bulky overall compared to the kiwi for me too.
The only review I need to watch on this, BB! Edit: I think I will wait until the publish more details about the upgrade kit. The fan and the digital display is not really interesting for me. Even less with the noise the fan seems to produce
No. You don't need to put battery on strap to check its status. It also have button (on side) and lights. And you don't use a fan to cool yourself off because you're sweaty, but to prevent your lenses from fogging up.
I think the honey comb for the bottom to keep a good grip from slipping. Also the top knobs are adjustable and also slide out if you don't like them. Looks higher quality too plastic wise. Not trying to fan over it but might get 1 just wish they were a little cheaper
Thank you very much for this review. I am wondering how comfortable it is with headphones? I have a steel series headset with smaller earcups then yours which fitted perfectly on my Quest pro.
There is actually a button on the battery, but it is on the side of the battery rather than the center which you can press to check the battery level without having to attach to the strap
The “little breeze” is right. I don’t know where the air is going but it doesn’t seem to be cooling me or the Quest. I don’t feel the airflow when I’m wearing it. I think the padding is so thick that it’s blocking the vents and making the air travel out the sides of the forehead strap instead of downward towards your skin. It’s going to be a return for me.
Thanks for the Bobo update mate. Personally I've still very happy with my Q3 Elite battery strap (original one replaced for free with latest 2023/12 batch btw). Also, I already use a desk fan blowing on me so I doubt there would be any advantages to using the Bobo fan. Maybe something you can compare later. Thanks again mate and cheers.
I'm perfectly fine with the M3 strap I bought a few months ago...but I really look forward to the B100 batteries...and whatever adapter they offer to use those B100s with the M3 Strap. Not interested in buying the S3 Strap though.
Fan is a nice feature to forget about till you need it and maybe then you'll be listening to some loud exercise music, lol. They'll probably put a charge % screen on a dock down the road and hey maybe the battery will last long enough that swapping might not even be necessary. Appreciate the honest first impressions. I ordered one as my current swappable extended battery option killed itself. I think it overheated and damaged the terminal pins spring. While some might be upset this didn't come out sooner I am gambling that they've taken their time and tested this thoroughly. Will be my 3rd headset battery. Started with the Meta elite strap and we saw how that failed after a month of use. Hibloks seemed promising and worked well, but now I am waiting for overseas mail for the replacement part. Cue circus music in my background.
I was able to fix the buzzing issue by attaching a battery only when the headset battery is low, maybe 30% or less, try 15% or less if you can still hear it. Hope it works for you!
I've just noticed that there's a little button on the side of the battery that tells you how charged it is. That's in addition to the percentage charge shown when it's connected to the headset.
Do u play it with regular mkb or controller instead of motion controls or did u adjust motion controls to work for swinging and throwing? Is it enjoyable the way u play it as of rn?
@@faydzet2nd I use the quest controllers with its button layout from UEVR because motion controls don't feel nice with this game, you still have to press the buttons. you can find tutorials on RUclips on how to change your view to 1st person and making the head invisible so you can see your arms and stuff!
Had just been listening in the background, but thankfully looked up in time to see your notes that there are actually indicators on the battery after all 😂 I’d already ordered this the second it went on sale, so just waiting for it to arrive. Already have the M3 Pro, but plan to return it now 😅 Happy to hear it’s very comfortable then. I am a sweaty bandit so the fan is something I very much anticipate using. I had one to attach to the Quest 2 and it made a massive difference for fogging, though this one sounds like it blows more onto the head, than clearing through the lenses… will have to see then.
The buzz you're "hearing" is probably becuase you have the Razer headset over the headstrap, so that vibration the fan creates is being exhasterbated by the Razer headset picking it up and passing it along your earcups. Try it without the Razer headset.
Bought the m3 Pro not to long ago now they made this one, do we reckon it’s a worthwhile upgrade to get this one, I swear just it having a fan and better battery
Use the M3, had th bobo headset on my quest 2, loved it. The M3, must be me, just can't get comfortable with it, just feel too much pressure from the facial interface rather than the headstrap taking the weight.
It's not just you. I loved the M2 and used it every day without any discomfort. Bought the M3 pro as soon as i could and gave up with it after 2 days trying to get comfortable. It's been in the box ever since 😔
I have an m3 pro with an amvr facial interface (not sure what face interface you use, I felt the amvr helps with comfort and wobble), im curious and every headset review is very dangerous and subjective when it comes to claims about comfort because everyones head is different. I often play with an M3 pro without the battery until its needed because between the headset and battery weight its alot of grams on my head and can lead to neck pain. This one is even heavier with fans and heavier battery. Have you analyzed the comfort playing long periods of time and how that additional weight on top might be to much on peoples neck? Or are you dead set this is more comfortable then the m3 pro? I didnt notice an issue with the m3 back not feeling sturdy. Just dont want to run out and buy an S3 as well if its more placebo or not for me.
i get sweaty on EVERY single VR game i play because i put 100% effort into having a good time. i am 28 and i still get zits on my forhead because of VR. I've been waiting forever for something like this to come out - i suggested getting a small neck fan to counteract the sweating issue. it is going to be a GAME changer for me. 1 question i have: can we use the old batteries to swap out when the current one is dead?
I mainly use my quest for fitness with beat sabre, thrill of fight, pistol whip etc, so the fan for me is great and the noise not an issue under the circumstances. I can turn it off when not needed for other games. The indicators are nice, but a more solid, stable and comfortable feel is again great for me.
İs it that much different from the M3 based on overall comfortability? İ would absolutely love an S3 super but 100€ is sadly out of my budget but i could still maybe get a m3 in March.
They will release an upgrade kit that basically replaces the battery dock and lets you use the improved battery. They even have the menu item on their website but last time I clicked on it the actual content was still missing
I'm curious, are your headphones using active noise cancellation? I use sony xm5 and bose qc earbuds and I would assume they would cancel the fan noise quite easily
Because this is the S3 PRO with the built in fan… I’d imagine they will release a non pro version without the fan at a lighter weight & a cheaper price
Yeah potentially, obviously you can just not use the fan, I won’t personally use it because the noise would annoy me so a slightly cheaper version without it would be great!
I think the fan quality probably differs from unit to unit. Mine is whisper quiet and at least at 50 I can't hear it at all but it has a very strong cooling effect.
@@snowtoad np. I’ve got a few of the old batteries, from using with the Quest 2 & Bobo’s M2 Pro strap, which I’ve also used on the M3 Pro. Shame they won’t work on this S3, but from all I’ve heard so far, this new one is much better (at double the capacity).
When the S3 is on and connected to the quest, should the quest show as charging or should it display battery/extended battery like the elite headstrap?
It’s possible Beardo has a noisy fan, gamertagvr noted how quiet it was. For me personally I find my headset gets hot to the point of making my forehead to hot to be comfortable. Happy to have the fan included, what’s the worst that can happen, turn it off? Looking forward to mine arriving, pairing it with the AMVR interface, comfort is king, fan or not. I use soundcore v10 earbuds so wouldn’t hear it anyway.
Could you hear any batter whine when you were just using the quests in-built headphones? That would be the biggest dealbreaker for me cause I hate using headphones or iems in VR
what i recommend is to use the battery when the headset it self is at 30% or lower, it does not completely remove the buzzing issue, but makes it more quiet.
how does this version change the sound quality if you are not wearing headphones ? I had a Bobo for the Quest 2 and the 90 degree angle just killed the sound quality, so i never considered this type of design for the Quest 3.
Noise cancelling earphones might be a better option if the fan is too loud, i find plugging ears to be much more isolating for sound than big headphones when wearing accessories like a hat.
Okay, I don't know if anyone knows about this but Meta apparently has made some changes to the design of the headset so that it now directs some of the cooling air for the headset through the inside of the headset. When the headset is cold and I wear it, it starts to fog up, but after a while the fog just clears and I can feel a little breeze of air inside the headset. So there's really no need to put a fan on the head straps anymore I think. Also I really wonder what's the point of putting a display on the outside of the headstrap which you will never see when you're wearing the headset. They might have easily put a button on the outside of the strap and when you click on it it can light up an LED facing towards your face in kind of Morse code fashion. Or a better solution is to just replace the fan with a vibration motor. When you click on a button outside of the headstrap the vibration motor on the forehead will vibrate according to the level of the battery. I also believe that the back design should change, like it should combine the battery and the adjustment mechanisms all into one. I think I will pass this one and wait for the new battery adapters for the M3 Pro.
At first, I thought the new design charge indicator was great and smart looking but it’s not very practical at all in reality for the reasons you stated in the video but also, I sometimes used to remove the battery to quickly check the charge status and snap back on whilst wearing the headset or in middle of a game. With this new strap you’d have to take off your headset completely just to check it’s charge . Not a very big deal but if you use hand straps for the controllers, it all could get a little annoying. The fan is a great idea though imo as I got so much hotter in the quest 3 then I did quest 2 but it’s only worth it if it actually cools you down. Also, it’s another thing that would drain the battery packs.. Hmm.. Think I’ll wait before rushing to order this one 🤔👍

Not one of them mentioned any problems then when real people had them in hands the backlash prompetd a cordinated flood of videos from the same people addressing the blur. Genuinely curious what you mean by the blur in psvr2? It’s by far the sharpest vr I’ve ever tried, including quest 3. Do you mean the smaller ‘sweet spot’? Thats a very easy problem to solve if worn correctly so I can see why reviewers didn’t mention it
A very nice review. The fan seems a bit odd. Not sure you really need the battery indicator. Will stick to my Bobo M2 with adaptor for Quest 3. Battery life it good enough for me. I also like the battery indicators on the batteries. It's a pity that they have removed that.
No, it's just a cable from the battery dock for power. The M3 could be charged via passthrough on the battery (so you leave the battery in the saddle and plug the charging cable into the battery) and I expect this one can also do that, but there is no data passthrough.
Watching this again, I think you must've been given a prototype battery! In their latest video it does have status lights and the button check is on the side of the battery. Weird yours is blank!

What a strange idea to add the fan? I would have thought an audio solution would have been more popular.
Keep up the great work!
I personally would've preferred a built in audio solution, fogging and sweatiness isn't an issue for me so I'm just not the target audience for a fan. I guess some out there are overheating though, must be a reason they thought to add this.
Probably helps I live in the UK, always bloody freezing here
@BeardoBenjo I actually need a headstrap with a heater. I live in bloody Sweden!
I quite like the fan as I am diabetic and my face gets hot, wearing glasses means that if I am heating up in the chops I need some means of cooling, I do have a mobile air conditioning unit where I play so turn this on. A good idea for me at least, of course, not everyone will want the fan option.
@@BeardoBenjo the point is, they already sell the anti fog attachment, just make it compatible and call the day
yes, fan is kind of mandatory for vr in tropical country, it is so hot here, we only do vr at night and even that need to be under air conditioning room, otherwise we will be sweating like a pool. 😢
And the fan makes it unnecessarily expensive.
Where is the air of the fan directed to and blown out from?
your greasy face
Your face
@@SongStudios Not helpful due to lack of details
Did you end up using it as your daily driver?
A fan would work perfect for times when your hot, no need to always have it on though. Its just a nice addition for us in tropical weather.
I played Palworld for like 12hrs yesterday and had a huge red indent on my forehead😂
You can do motion controls???
Not 12hrs straight right? Don't see how that would be even possible.
Sorry if I missed it. Can the fan be powered separately? Like if I use a Link cable?
Thanks bro i will definitely be getting this when i get my quest
Will you get a battery and the charger when you buy the vr?
Had just been listening in the background, but thankfully looked up in time to see your notes that there are actually indicators on the battery after all 😂
I’d already ordered this the second it went on sale, so just waiting for it to arrive. Already have the M3 Pro, but plan to return it now 😅
Happy to hear it’s very comfortable then. I am a sweaty bandit so the fan is something I very much anticipate using. I had one to attach to the Quest 2 and it made a massive difference for fogging, though this one sounds like it blows more onto the head, than clearing through the lenses… will have to see then.
Finally the new one with new batteries
The buzz you're "hearing" is probably becuase you have the Razer headset over the headstrap, so that vibration the fan creates is being exhasterbated by the Razer headset picking it up and passing it along your earcups. Try it without the Razer headset.
Can still hear the buzz from the fan without my Razer (or any other) headset on
@@BeardoBenjo absolutely no noise from the fan at 100% on my S3.
Yours might be a bit faulty.
It's been in the box ever since 😔
Can you charge the new 10,000mah battery on the old twin charger from BoBo??
Doubtful. I think the bottom pins are different
Fan's defo designed for me lol, living in Australia and always sleep with fans and love the sound of fans this fan will be good for me
I have an m3 pro with an amvr facial interface (not sure what face interface you use, I felt the amvr helps with comfort and wobble), im curious and every headset review is very dangerous and subjective when it comes to claims about comfort because everyones head is different.
Ordered mine day one and it hasn't left china. Did bobovr send out review models? Your only the second youtuber to have this for review.
Does the battery hum like some other straps do?
No hum at all.
I’m a fan of people who are not a big fan of fan components
Great video and i will order mine later this week. Can you buy spare batteries so you always have one charged up?
I mainly use my quest for fitness with beat sabre, thrill of fight, pistol whip etc, so the fan for me is great and the noise not an issue under the circumstances. I can turn it off when not needed for other games. The indicators are nice, but a more solid, stable and comfortable feel is again great for me.
Its not called pokemons anymore, its Pals now.
Oh shit yeah sorry, I'm stuck in the past
What’s a good case that fits this?
The fan is a great idea, it makes me consider buying it. The little breeze might be just enough to keep me from sweating.
Ayo i saw some comments that said that you have no idea you are so Bad etc... And i wanted to say bro the video is very good keep going!
I didn't like the top pads so I took those off I FREAKING LOVE THE REST OF IT THOUGH
Wish I didn't get the m3 right before this was announced 😢 but I do appreciate the upgrades they offer. Just wish they made the old battery compatible
I'm curious, are your headphones using active noise cancellation? I use sony xm5 and bose qc earbuds and I would assume they would cancel the fan noise quite easily
Hi wanting to know if the S3 will fit into the current Bobo case? Thanks!
Looks pretty dope. I use a Frankenquest 3. I use the Bobo stand alone battery kit.
When they add a decent sound solution, I'll consider a Bobo HS.
@BeardoBenjo. No check, no go.
Def. the best headstrap for RUclipsrs with affiliate links, lol!
Bobo headstraps always the way to go 👍
What facial interface are you using please ?
It's just the meta one he's using, the blue version
@@varph_ Thanks
I think the fan quality probably differs from unit to unit. Mine is whisper quiet and at least at 50 I can't hear it at all but it has a very strong cooling effect.
Hey Beardo, do the B2 batteries work on the S3 strap? Or can you only use the B100 batteries?
He did mention it - they don’t work on this.
@@andylawson ah, thanks. Still working my way up the play list.
Yeah they don't work sadly
@@andylawson it's a shame. If I buy the S3, I may unfit the retro fit kit and put my M2 back on the Q2.
I’ll be using that fan just about every time I play
Can't wait to see the one they make for Vision Pro.
Vision Pro needs SOMETHING to counter act the weight issue by the sounds of it, the first company to solve that will win big
Hopefully someone will produce an accessory that prints money so I can afford one.
When the S3 is on and connected to the quest, should the quest show as charging or should it display battery/extended battery like the elite headstrap?
lol The Fan is why I want it , my glasses always get fogged up. :)
Does the fan blow into the headset to prevent lens fogging. The Bobovr site says it keeps the head and face cool.
Yeah can still hear the whine without a headset on, slightly less noticeable but you can definitely hear it
what i recommend is to use the battery when the headset it self is at 30% or lower, it does not completely remove the buzzing issue, but makes it more quiet.
I definitely want the fan. Surely with headphones it wouldn’t be too noisy?
I preordered this! First bobo, but my nephews bobo didn’t like it too much because it moves if I’m turning my head
I have the M straps for the Quest 2 and the Quest 3. I have never heard the buzzing.
how does this version change the sound quality if you are not wearing headphones ? I had a Bobo for the Quest 2 and the 90 degree angle just killed the sound quality, so i never considered this type of design for the Quest 3.
Hey I have a question for you. When I have installed the vr game in steam, I must also install it in vr??
@BeardoBenjo. Thank you but we have our own imposters.
Can you flip the headset up without removing the strap? eg if you were to talk to someone or to look at your phone and didn't want to use passthrough
"Don't use scissors if you're a child..."😆
Thanks for your thoughts Beardo. Do the new batteries work on the older M3 Pro headstraps?
Does anyone know if this charges thought past trough via Quest 3 charging dock. Or do we still need to charge headset and bobo battery separately.
Yeah very good question! 😅
Hmm..
Think I’ll wait before rushing to order this one 🤔👍
is possible that the new charging dock for the batteries have a reader
Its getting a bit tired now youtubers getting stuff flung at them it has to colour opinion .. remember the psvr 2 ..."reviews". Not one of them mentioned any problems then when real people had them in hands the backlash prompetd a cordinated flood of videos from the same people addressing the blur. They arent called influencers for nothing . Take it all with a bucket of salt
But do you have the head strap?
Genuinely curious what you mean by the blur in psvr2? It’s by far the sharpest vr I’ve ever tried, including quest 3. Do you mean the smaller ‘sweet spot’? Thats a very easy problem to solve if worn correctly so I can see why reviewers didn’t mention it
What blur ? lol
Are they talking about the foveated rendering?
Can you charge the battery while it is in the headset and not using it?
🤯 How did he get his S3 Pro so fast!? I ordered mine on January 24th and it's still sitting in China and has yet to start moving. 😡
Cause he is an influencer. They want to get it out to influencers first for publicity and get more people to order.
😁 Indeed
ARRIVED! I just received my BoboVR S3 Pro in the mail 📬 today. 2-10-2024 🙌🏾
Confused about having a fan that doesn't actually vent the lens area in case of fogging scenarios. The fan here is just blowing air on your forehead?
If you have a facial interface with vents, the fan will prevent fogging.
A very nice review. The fan seems a bit odd. Not sure you really need the battery indicator. Will stick to my Bobo M2 with adaptor for Quest 3. Battery life it good enough for me. I also like the battery indicators on the batteries. It's a pity that they have removed that.
@BeardoBenjo. Okay
Is there a data passthrough on the USB port? I.e. can you play a movie from a pendrive while using the external battery?
No, it's just a cable from the battery dock for power. The M3 could be charged via passthrough on the battery (so you leave the battery in the saddle and plug the charging cable into the battery) and I expect this one can also do that, but there is no data passthrough.
The top head pads can be removed and or adjusted
Watching this again, I think you must've been given a prototype battery!
In their latest video it does have status lights and the button check is on the side of the battery. Weird yours is blank!
What would happen if I keep the cable plugged in , and I set it on the OEM Charging Dock?
The head fan was an absolute seller for me living in Australia! 😂
