Wow great job Drew and thanks for the shout out brother!! Good luck on your RUclips channel! remember it is a marathon and not a sprint brother!!! Hope you are still enjoying the 1600!!! I always say it is a great value pit for sure!! Plus they really do have a good customer service!!!
Means so much to me. Thank you! Love your channel. Your video was the deciding factor in me getting the 1600 and i still love it. This RUclips journey is definitely a marathon, but I’m enjoying the process.
@@ReadySetBuildIt solid video and tips. Already purchased this grill but was looking for some more info on the initial burn, turns out it's gonna be the initial burn ins! Very helpful and good insight!
I literally just got mine yesterday and I am looking forward to using it. Great advice and I appreciate knowing about 3 burn offs. One of the things I learned also is in order to make sure there are no cool or hots spots, and it is even temp, to add this metal covering to seal the gap near the probe under the heat shields. Apparently it works wonders.
I loved your video brotha! Really informative. Quick question. When you said that they suggested 3 burnoffs, does that mean to shut it down after each burnoff? How long should you wait to do the next burnoff?
Thanks so much. I did my burn off consecutively, but I’m sure you could take a break in between if that’s what you had for time. The process is ready about “seasoning your grill” and allowing your pit boss brain a chance to learn its environment.
Awesome video. Had my 1600 for about a week. Have you had a problem with grill PID sticking to a certain temperature and not moving (350). It bounces around at first but then sticks, with lid open it still stays the same temp. All pellets grill I've ever used soon as you open lid it drops drastically. But this one never does. Thanks
Thanks Joshua. I haven’t had that issue. I’ve recently upgraded my PID and it is even better than when I first put the grill together. I would reach out to @pitboss as they have been really helpful to me when I needed help.
Good review and burn in! It's really great that Pit Boss has good customer service. I've heard that from a lot of people. Ricer is a good friend of mine and great guy. He sure knows his pits for sure.
Thanks so much for watching Steve. I’ve had it for about a year now and I’m still in love with it. The only thing I’m not crazy about is the griddle and that’s only because I’m too lazy to add and remove it repeatedly. 10 out of 10. I would buy it again!
Great Video! I have the first generation Pit Boss! I will be upgrading first sign of spring next year! Thanks for making me wants the brand new shiny one!
To my knowledge, only the 1600 has the griddle. I’m sure you can google PitBoss griddle insert, but I think you would be better served with the PitBoss stand alone griddle.
Thank you! You’re going to love yours. I bought the 75in Horizontal Pit Boss Cover. Model #73402. You may have to get it from Lowes. I wasn’t able to find it anywhere else.
@@ReadySetBuildIt thanks brother! I’m gonna do the burn offs today and go look for that cover. Glad I found your page. Pit Boss 1600 AND building stuff - right up my alley!
I have been using my Pit Boss Pro Series 1600 grill for a little over a month now and I don't know how I've lived without it. Let me know if you have a Pellet Grill and what you think about it.
Interesting. What would be the benefit of removing it? I believe its purpose is to turn your direct flame into an oven by spreading the heat laterally and around. I would think removing it turns your pit boss into an ordinary grill.
Have a friend who has a pit boss pellet grill. The pid controller has the temperature going all over the place. Sometime 50.degrees too high and then 50 degrees below set temperature. Anyone have that problem ?
I haven’t had that problem, but has he tried doing 2 to 3 cycles of the burn off to help the PID learn it’s grill and environment? From talking to customer service, multiple burn offs are key.
Just a note; you should screen your pellets before you use them especially when the bag is close to empty. It will clog up your auger and send you an error message. Take it from one who had this issue happen to him!!
@@ReadySetBuildIt Loved your video, but I caught the unit of measurement flub too... was rofl since my house is about 1800 sq. ft... and I was like holly hell that's a big BBQ! 🤣
I’m sorry to hear that. My new PID just arrived and although I’m happy to have more temps to use, my Pit Boss has been pretty spot on in matching the temps my signals are reading. I’m very hopeful the new PID will be dialed in quickly.

I just got the 850. Putting it together today 💪
You won’t regret it!
Congratulations on your new grill! We’ve got a a Pit Boss Austin XL we’ve had about four years. Lots of cooks under our belt with good results.
Thanks Deborah. It’s an awesome grill, I haven’t gone back to my gas grill since purchasing it.

Hey Drew! Great video! How have you liked the pro series so far? I'm thinking about getting the 1150!

Damn 1600 square feet of cooking space. Wish my house was that big. I think you mean 1600 square inches buddy. Thx for the video.
You’re right. Misspoken, but I think you get the gist. Thanks for watching

I got a pro series last week. I really enjoy mine. I look forward to seeing more videos from you!

Did the griddle come with the 1600 only? Just got the 1150, but no griddle. Does Pit Boss sell as an attachment by chance?

Good video and tips. I saw that turkey you were about to smoke. I’ll look for it on your channel! 😂
Thanks. Unfortunately, I didn’t film the turkey cook. It was freezing that day, but it came out great. I’ll look to re do it at some point
Great video my friend

Nice grill. Got mine assembled yesterday. What cover are you using? I heard the one for the 1150 was a little short for the 1600.

Building and bbq. I can dig it.

Do you keep the smoke stack closed during the burn off process?
I leave it opened. Air flow is a big part of how smokers work and you need air exchange to keep the temperature consistent
I got the pro 850. Love it!
Well built for sure. Thanks for the subscribe
Dam, they got wifi in everything now.
Yep. And it’s awesome
1600 square feet that's funny right there
