Low budget plus having to create the studio from scratch and get back into development after years away from it. It's a miraculous achievement and cements Yu Suzuki's genius.

Shenmue with the Dragon engine would be a terrible idea as it would feel too much like Yakuza. The two franchises should feel as different to one another as possible. YsNet made the right choice going with Unreal4, they just need to iron out the kinks in IV.
Shenmue 3 is much more than I could've hoped for. I'm 16 hours in, and I'm loving it. The world detail is incredible. And to be honest, I think people have become way too critical on games in general. What Shenmue enable us to do is appreciate the craftsmanship of a game, especially due to the slower tempo provided. Looking at every little item, architecture, flora, design of labels, signs, etc. I'm thinking.... "this is hand crafted stuff".... it's incredible when you think about it. that somebody has been modelling and designing these things by hand. Not to mention programming all the systems involved. Dialogue, fighting, mini-games, inventory, shops etc. For a team this small. I'm amazed. I don't know how they managed to squeeze in so much under such a strict budget.
Absolutely. Without wanting to be precious I do take umbrage with some of the things this reviewer says. Among many other things, he says it "doesn't feel that good to play on PS4 '. Honestly, even from a pure tech perspective the lighting and texture work are really great. I've been playing Final Fantasy XV and Fallen Order (both super expensive AAA games that look gorgeous) and Shenmue's world textures and lighting go toe-to-toe with those titles (this is less true of the Chobu area's textures though which aren't quite as refined). Very good leveraging of UE4 though. In fact, Shenmue's character models (if you ignore the faces) are also quite technically accomplished, too. It's just that when there is a rough spot in the presentation it sticks out like a sore thumb.
@@mikedronslu4287 I fully agree with you, however "pure tech perspective" is what this channel called "Digital Foundry" is all about. People come here exactly for that. There are many, many options out there for just games review.
To be fair here. Shenmue 3 was basically just a more expensive than usual indie game. I never expected it to be revolutionary or anything because of that.
I have so much respect for the devs for staying true to what fans wanted, even though I'm not a shenmue fan. I might buy my first shenmue game, but with such a huge backlog that I have in other games, it can wait.
Don't waste your money on this game, I own it and it really is terrible.. These guys are sugar coating the hell out of it. This channel makes great content but they often gloss over the blatant shady practices within the industry.. The devs were handed six million dollars with absolutely no strings and the way the money was spent is a complete mystery. That's a huge red flag and normalizing this practice is a dangerous direction for the industry to be going in.. But DF won't say shit because it could hurt important relationships that they have within the industry..
@@gstylez0107 that's because that's not their job to report on anything industry related unless it's strictly tech. If you want your sweaty hot takes from youtube, you have options. This is a tech analysis and what they stated is pretty much factual.
@@gstylez0107 Dude, i'm a Shenmue fan. I played and loved Shenmue 3, still, i can respect your opinion. But, they took the money and made a game wanted by many fans. Period. If you don't liked the result, that's a shame. Many fans loved, but this is a game, even in the Dreamcast's Era, very polarized. Your point of view is just your opinion. YS NET put little details, like DF said, into many places. They did not use modern techs in many aspects, but their care is visible in details - like bottles and random itens with detailed prints, and that very unique OST style and dialogue - some folks loved, but many hated too. If you hate it, don't buy it (like you did). Simple as that. If you pay real money to a bunch of "shady folks" (in your point of view), then... they will not stop. This franchise received so much hate after that 130 millions was invested by Sega in '99 - and, after that, their console failed. This love / hate cycle will never end within Shenmue's production. This Kickstarter money (+ Sony, DS and Epic shares) is a tiny portion of a saga planned to be as big as possible.
same here man im soaking in everything in bailu village at the moment. i love the little moments you find. my favorite so far is MingYang losing his shit when he finds out you've been staying at Shenhua's house. it could be easily missed of you don't talk him and got the info you need from someone else and moved on. i honesty don't understand the people who just blazed through the game.
Shenmue 3 is everything I wanted from Shenmue after Shenmue 2 but not anything more than that. This feels like the Shenmue sequel we should've gotten a year or two after the last one, not nearly 20 years later
Really loving the experience. It's a miracle what they achieved given the small budget they has. Some of the most stunning and romantic sceneries of this gen. Now I hope a Shenmue 4 to be real
I'm a new Shenmue fan and I absolutely love 1&2! While I agree that Shenmue 3 isn't like newer games of this generation, I'm fine with that because this is really for the fans. I recently started playing it and I'm loving every bit of it.
But why is the dialog so clunky? I'm sure this didn't have less budget than Disco Elysium and while I don't expect it to hit the level of DE we should expect at least that questions and answers always match each other.
Look, it's a love letter to the fans. The game is for the fans. It was made for the fans, the fans are happy with it and how they kept the style, the stiffness and the voice acting, the chill music and the weather and time system the creator of shenmue said when he came out in 2015s e3 "let's make shenmue 3 for the older fans" the fact that it looks like this now is actually breathtaking compared to what it would have looked when he delayed it in 2017. The fans got exactly what they wanted and if this was looking like death strandiing or the last of us 2 the fans would not be happy. it's a fans love letter and the reviews are good enogh so far for the planned 4th and 5th game that was supposed to be getting made in 2003. End of discussion. We got what we wanted and it's a very long well thought out game, i would rather play this 100x over a very short game with amazing graphics.
What people have to realize is that this is still a game that was made possible by Kickstarter so expectations have to be set. I like it so far and would love to have more time to play it.
This might be the best Kickstarter success story for a video game yet. Just it meeting expectations of the first two games is hard enough, but to stand out among so many larger more expensive AAA games is truly impressive.
Kevin Keninson with the PC version being clearly the best way to play, hope the Epic deal really pays off for future patches and fixes to the console version and a true next gen experience for the next game. The story continues...
I agree 100% with you, pal. I'm a fan from Dreamcast's era too. Great review. I expected a way worse result for a KS Project. It has some issues, true, but it's, at same time, a love letter for all fans. This is such a nice work from Yu Suzuki's team.
Been waiting for this video, I was 16 when I first had Shenmue 1 and my Dreamcast and was in love with the game back then till now. I'm honestly amazed what the team has done with the limited budget, and this game 100% feels like Shenmue. For fans like me that have been patiently and anxiously waiting, the fact it's fun and feels like Shenmue - that is enough, I'm so in love with this game despite its few odd little flaws. Thank Yu Suzuki and team!
me too bro. I've been a Fan since Shenmue I. and Shenmue 3 totally satisfied me, I love it alot no matter what people say. I will give this game 10/10 .
There is a complete disconnection between "professional" reviewers and the real life audience targeted by this game. This is a souped up Dreamcast game, and it's all the better for it.
With the shitty practices going on with the GAAS model in the industry at the moment, games like this are a welcome and preferable to some of the games we get today!
I couldn't agree more. I am actually much rather playing this than safe and boring AAA-games. People complain about Shenmue's pace, but truth be told, all the GAAS games are just endless grinds.
Yeah the english dub has alot of translation issues. like the "face" Rock paper scissors game with shenhua. it makes no sense in english. in Japanese it makes more sense the way they pronouce the words.
Been a Shenmue fan since the start, backed the Kickstarter and spent a few days playing since its release. I completely agree with this video. In every aspect.
If they try to kickstart 4 and 5...I'll be there. Hopefully get a conclusion. Money would go a bit further now, since they have a full engine in place, just needs a couple tweaks to be golden.
While I do wish that SEGA had allowed Ys to use the Virtua Fighter combat system, I'm happy that they introduced RPG mechanics to Shenmue 3. Going to the various dojos and leveling up my Kung Fu hooked me in a way that I wasn't expecting, and it helped me feel like Ryo was truly growing as a martial artist more than either of the first two games. While I haven't beaten 3 - I just reached Niaowu - I'm extremely happy with the game that Ys has produced, and I'm elated that this happened at all. It's wonderful.

I just read some metacritic reviews(not full reviews).. and it seems like all the bad reviews IS because it doesn't play like a modern day game... only a few minutes in(the first town looking for yuan) the cut scenes during conversations I thought was pretty cool.. the game itself feels old school( like there is not enough physics in movements ) but it did not bother me at all... it just felt cool...and the music is nice. and the voice acting.. lol.. this is from me who is a kickstarter backer and has never played the first 2 games..
@@gaara8217 that's tight man! I'm happy your enjoying it and you were a backer. Thanks man. If you havnt played the original 2, please do man. Half of them weren't even alive or old enough to play the original 2 when it first came out or even owned a dreamcast when it first launched.
Started playing it on my brothers ps4. Im about to buy one just so I can buy it. It’s perfectly imperfect just like 1 & 2. It’s everything I wanted it to be.
I’m loving Shenmue 3 so far but I was really disappointed they didn’t keep the same beautiful menu music from part 1& 2 that would have been like jumping into a time machine to my childhood, Yu Suzuki did an amazing job 😃👍🏻
I thought the same thing, that it should be possible to downgrade this to be on par with Shenmue 1 and 2. Probably too much work for anyone to bother doing though. If I were a billionaire I'd pay someone to do it.
RE: PS5 performance - I've installed this on my PS5 (internal m.2 SSD expansion drive) and played a few in-game days and while I don't have any tools to precisely measure frame rates and frame times, it sure felt like 60 fps to me. Resolution is the same as PS4 pro (1080p) Loading times: (Note - the game was installed on my XPG S70 Blade m.2 SSD @ 6200 mbps as benchmarked by the PS5) - Fast travel from Bailu Village back to Shenhua's house at the end of the day was about 7 seconds. - Continuing back into the game from the title screen was about 19 seconds. Hope this helps a little bit!
Great review man very honest as usual. As a Shenmue fan im not dissapoint at all given the low budget and the game is all i expected. Hope to see a Shenmue 4 soon with more budget.
Ahh I didn't notice the puffy jacket clipping until you pointed it out! That looks quite bad. Ryo's jacket in the original was actually stunning in its day; the way it was separate from his body and how you could see his white t-shirt beneath if he leaned over enough. Mmm jacket tech.
It’s amazing how much they created given that they had worked on a mere fraction of the budget as they had on the original titles. It feels and plays just like a shenmue game should and looks very detailed and well crafted graphically. I’m more than happy with what they did here. I’ve seen worse handled sequels, this is pure fan service. I hope we just can get shenmue 4
All you guys should play the game to see how good the environment looks. It's impressive for that little budget. If you didn't love the first titles, you can't understand what this game means for us - the fans. It's all what I wanted and I have unlimited respect for Yu and his team. Looking forward to Shenmue 4!
The first 2 were AMAZING at the time. Especially the 1st... this looks like some shit that would have been released for Android back in 2012..... I understand you wanna see the story continue. But this looks like fuckin garbage
This might sound weird. But in some games I actually like loading into a new area, instead of it being all seamless. At least if the loading screens are relatively short.
Its to create better and slower pacing. Like classic resident evil door load screens. Its best to get excited for the next area. I think load screens as long their designed with the experience in mind can be great. Shenmue 3 does have some in between but its kinda weird hearing music changing everytime you walk into a place that didn't had a load time in between. Maybe a little cutscene would do great.
I think another way they could do it is have the name of the place you are entering appear on screen quickly. No need for an actual loading screen, just the sense that you've entered a new place.
Shenmue III received an update several weeks ago. The visuals look comparable to the PC version on the PS4 Pro. The colors pop and offers clarity, it looks really good to my eyes.
A lot of site reviews, IGN and another give it mediocre reviews. Based on what they want, its meh. But as the fans, such as myself i am very satisfied. I dont care if the game graphics look top notch or how they did back when 1 and 2 came out. The game looks graphically looks like a polished version of 1 or 2. The game to me, "feels" just like a sequel if it came out right after 2. And i think thats all the people that wanted Shenmue 3 wanted. Some reviews were mocking some of the dialogue how some responses didnt make much sense. 1&2 were just the same, so the dialogues felt perfect. We the fans just wanted the sequel and we got it. Also minor minor spoiler, The Shenhua dialogue when she question the thug....Histarical, ding ding....I almost died laughing.
As a Chinese... I would say that Shenmue 3 did create a beautiful world of Guilin, but it doesn't feel like China, for example like the way people talk, the village, the shop, the use of Kanji (hanzi). Many of them mix with Japanese style and stereotype elements. Even though Yu Suzuki is a big fan of China, still only scratch the surface of Chinese culture, I want to believe this is due to lack of budgets? lol
Yes, even though the game is set in China it has very Japanese feel to it. But I think it's to be excpected given that the development team is Japanese. You could say that instead of "real China", Shenmue's world is a fictional China imagined by Yu Suzuki and the Japanese development team.
Thanks for the great reivew, John! I was blown away by the original Shenmue 19 years ago and there was something special about the mundane details and even though the dialogue was cheesy, there was a lot of heart. I definitely want to see how the story plays out in this new game.
I'm so glad that fans of the series have finally gotten to play this. Even if it doesn't fully live up to expectations, that's fine by my book. Hopefully this means we might see more games in the series or new IP that is Sumit in terms of gameplay.
i still have my dreamcast 4 disc set , i have only played the first disc. love the game so much i bought a walk through manual for it. but stored it away with my dreamcast long ago. I may just get it out of storage now and play it or sell it. it like the dreamcast was way ahead of its time, and ahead of the playstation, but sega did not have a dvd player or sonys marketing and budget. they could handle nintendo, but not sony and nintendo.
I'm still not sure why Yu didn't try to license the Dragon Engine from SEGA for this game. It would be a perfect fit. It seems he made SEGA mad somehow with this project or before this and they wouldn't work with him. Sad that they couldn't work out their differences so we could get a better game for it.
TBH we don't know if the Dragon Engine is up to the task. We've never seen it do foilage, NPC scheduling, day-to-night transitions (in real time!) etc; And I think it is unlikely to feature these out of the box given that the engine was made/only used for one series that has no need for the above. The additional time adding all these features may well have simply made it not worth the effort. The Dragon Engine may look nice, but that doesn't mean it can do what Shenmue would need it to do.
I think I got more positive information about Shenmue from this video. Because amid all of John Linneman's mixed reactions to the graphics and performance, his words to me indicate that Shenmue actually looks and plays better than I feared it might based on other's negative criticism. In short, it's a great game. I'm grateful that DF showcased the best in visuals that the game has to offer, it increased my respect for Team Yu Suzuki because they knew what kind of graphics engine they had at their disposal. I like John's comment that Yu Suzuki's graphical priorities haven't changed with Shenmue 3: It's still about flawless main characters and compromised NPC's and that isn't a bad thing especially if your a Shenmue veteran.
Considering the severe budget constraints and the tepid kickstarter support (the majority didn't even contribute the cost of one new game), it's amazing Shenmue 3 turned out as well as it did. If Suzuki had a much larger budget, none of the criticisms levied in the review would even exist. I hope he finds the appropriate financial support so that a much improved 4th game can be developed.
Thanks for explaining the bizarre fade-to-black cuts in the middle of cut scenes. I was wondering if the developers made some weird programming decision that made it difficult to have extended conversations.
Shenmue is my favorite game series ever! I even took a trip to Guilin before Shenmue 3 came out. It's been a dream of mine since playing Shenmmue 2 on DC back in 2001. Yu Suzuki nailed it with the setting.
I still shoot myself in the foot 14 years later for selling my Dreamcast and all my games dirt cheap at a yard sale. Playing Shenmue was a special moment in my life. I'm sure if I played it again today it wouldn't quite live up to what I've built it up to be in my memories, but reminiscing on Shenmue always gives me the warm and fuzzies. I do hope they manage to make all the planned games in the series eventually.
There's something special that Shenmue accomplishes that Yakuza could never quite do. Their next game Like a Dragon seems to be getting closer. It would be amazing to see Shenmue 4 get a large team and budget. It would be like getting the massive jump Shenmue II had over the first game. Especially if they continue with such beautiful art direction.
@@zenunderground9893 well guidance would be under the creator so it wouldnt be an issue and personally i feel lore/setting is the only difference, while everything else they do the same like having mini games etc yakuza just does better/is more polished
I'm liking the game (though I'm displeased it doesn't include at least one of the iconic '80s Sega coinops), but for some reason I still prefer the Shenmue II more vivid graphics style.
Have you found the Sega Saturn John? There are players that already found this easter egg. And I think this is the secret of the Phoenix Mirrors, the power of bring the Saturn from 1994 to 1987, before Sega launched the Mega Drive!
The game is great, it still does a lot of things I wish other open world games did, there is so much detail in the story, and even the most insignificant NPC adds to the story in some way, this is a game where the story isn't just tacked on like normal, & I don't know why this guy is talking about resolution, what do you expect from the PS4? I'm playing the game on PC in 4K and it looks fantastic
Haha I love people complaining about the animation and the characters because they can't see this is something different. Imo this game definitely stands out due to its "retro-modern look" think of it as pixel art indie games but in 3D. The character models and the art itself is stylised to imitate a 2000s games, even down to the animation (tho it has some rough edges). Yu Suzuki and his team definitely did a great job on a game that was kick-started and was partially funded by Sony, we need to see more of this "retro-modern aesthetics" in more 3D games
People that aren't fans are never going to understand, but you're 100% correct. There's a lot of people evaluating this at a purely surface level (a lot of them intentionally because they have a hate boner for the epic store). Most fans got exactly what they wanted here, which is great because it was kickstarted by fans after all. The fans' wishes came first, which is a very rare thing in an age where game development is usually bent to the whims of publishers and money men.
Very nice game, but what amazed me most is music! Very Asian and beautiful. It sounds very spacious, like really awesome sound space with pinpoint instruments on big sound stage! (I use Sennheiser HD599 with Creative SB X G6 dac/headphone amp). Loving the game! Thank You Yu Suzuki & team! Please make Shenmue 4.
I feel like the game is exactly what fans should want from a low budget continuation of a classic series. It's very obvious that everything wrong with this game is due to budget, not lack of talent.
True sequel, beautiful game and story. Engaging and encourages you to explore the world. The side quests are done in an interesting and rewarding way. It's great to explore the maps during day and night. The character models are some of the best I've seen (maybe not animations, but that will improve in future versions). There is always stuff to do. It still has some of the awesome actions sequences and QTEs, which DF failed to mention, including some cool chase scenes and battles. Anyone with some patience should really play this game.
Gaming can be broken down into iterations of the Brown Leather Jacket, Indiana jones on the Atari 2600 onto Flash back and Fade to black now onto Shenmue and the like I wonder when the last ever Brown leather appearance will be.
It feels VERY strange seeing Ryo with this "modern, over the shoulder view". I was really hoping they would include a "classic view" option where Ryo would fit the screen and would be centered, just like the previous games. It really doesn't feel like Shenmue this way.
Another great Shenmue video by John. I appreciate the thoughtful and fair analysis that takes into consideration the time and budget constraints for what is essentially an indie game.
One more thing John, Shenmue 3 with its status as crowdfunding game with way way less resources then AAA games, larger scale then S2, on 3 platform no less, somehow deliver much more stable and less bug on Day 1 then certain big publisher ;D offering for the last 18 years! Kudos for Yu Suzuki & team!!!

"Resembling the Canola (Canada Oil, Low Acid) fields in certain regions of china" This sentence made me laugh. Do they really call it Canola in China? I mean, it's rapeseed, and Canola was a Canadian trademark for it, which as I mentioned, stands for CANada Oil, Low Acid.

It's a gorgeous ,very pixar-like game . Who cares about "pure tech perspective" ? The end result is what matters :)
Yea the colors are amazing. And comon sparring under a full moon and starry sky....whats better?
Trash game
Yes, of course, the fans totally wanted a combat system that's even worse than a 20 years old game.

I'm a new Shenmue fan and I absolutely love 1&2! While I agree that Shenmue 3 isn't like newer games of this generation, I'm fine with that because this is really for the fans. I recently started playing it and I'm loving every bit of it.
Some cluncky dialog as expected, big it's really good. It looks beautiful.
But why is the dialog so clunky? I'm sure this didn't have less budget than Disco Elysium and while I don't expect it to hit the level of DE we should expect at least that questions and answers always match each other.
That`s why people with common sense play it in Japanese.
Look, it's a love letter to the fans. The game is for the fans. It was made for the fans, the fans are happy with it and how they kept the style, the stiffness and the voice acting, the chill music and the weather and time system
the creator of shenmue said when he came out in 2015s e3 "let's make shenmue 3 for the older fans" the fact that it looks like this now is actually breathtaking compared to what it would have looked
when he delayed it in 2017. The fans got exactly what they wanted and if this was looking like death strandiing or the last of us 2
the fans would not be happy. it's a fans love letter and the reviews are good enogh so far for the planned 4th and 5th game that was supposed to be getting made in 2003.
End of discussion. We got what we wanted and it's a very long well thought out game, i would rather play this 100x over a very short game with amazing graphics.
What people have to realize is that this is still a game that was made possible by Kickstarter so expectations have to be set. I like it so far and would love to have more time to play it.
Kickstarter, then sony doubled that, and they took all the epic exclusive money
Im getting a stroke trying to read your first sentence
This might be the best Kickstarter success story for a video game yet. Just it meeting expectations of the first two games is hard enough, but to stand out among so many larger more expensive AAA games is truly impressive.
Kevin Keninson with the PC version being clearly the best way to play, hope the Epic deal really pays off for future patches and fixes to the console version and a true next gen experience for the next game. The story continues...
I love so mutch Shenmue 3! The beautiful graphics, the amazing sound, the direct art. Thanks Yu Suzuki! We noted your efforts!
The shot of those books is giving me Shenmue 2 flashbacks.
I mean, the music was good...
There is a complete disconnection between "professional" reviewers and the real life audience targeted by this game. This is a souped up Dreamcast game, and it's all the better for it.
So a Shenmue experience but with a small budget. I can dig it.

I completely agree with this video. In every aspect.
The ending brought me to tears. I really hope Shenmue 4 happens.
Very nice review! I have it on pc and it's great! I'm happy that it left off exactly how I remember it. I would of been a bit mad if they made it completely different. It wouldnt be a shenmue to me. It's truly made for the fans of that era. It is a bit outdated, but that's what I like about it. Its main core that made my 10 year old love it is still there.

So did I.
I hope that make a de-make of this game for Dreamcast.
I wonder if there’s a Dreamcast footage of Shenmue 3 like there was Saturn footage for Shenmue 1 and 2
Started playing it on my brothers ps4. Im about to buy one just so I can buy it. It’s perfectly imperfect just like 1 & 2. It’s everything I wanted it to be.
Not sure I agree with the “we’ll talk performance of course, but first 15 minutes of spoilers” approach on this one
I’m loving Shenmue 3 so far but I was really disappointed they didn’t keep the same beautiful menu music from part 1& 2 that would have been like jumping into a time machine to my childhood, Yu Suzuki did an amazing job 😃👍🏻
Can you imagine how amazing it would have been if they released this for Dreamcast as well? Causing people to go out and buy used Dreamcasts.
That would be pretty hilarious. Especially since all the haters will go, "why the graphics look so bad for a new game"? 😂
I thought the same thing, that it should be possible to downgrade this to be on par with Shenmue 1 and 2. Probably too much work for anyone to bother doing though. If I were a billionaire I'd pay someone to do it.

Me too bro! I'm ready to backed Shenmue 4 if we have to do it again.
I am 100% for the direction they took. It feels like we're just continuing where we left off, which is the best I could have hoped for.
Now all is left is Half Life 3 to complete the prophecy.
Alyx is pretty much HL3.
I honestly didn’t notice that the game runs in sub-1080p on PS4. Still looked great.

Fan service I say. Why not, after all it was the fans who shelled in 50 mils.

Seems like Shenmue 3 will see an increased performance boost on the PS5 with its uncapped frame rate.
Shenmue III was awesome, not as epic as Shenmue II but still really great. Only the soundtrack was kinda weak in comparison to the first two games.
Thanks for the great reivew, John! I was blown away by the original Shenmue 19 years ago and there was something special about the mundane details and even though the dialogue was cheesy, there was a lot of heart. I definitely want to see how the story plays out in this new game.

they could handle nintendo, but not sony and nintendo.
it wasn't ahead of the ps2, it was weaker but easier to develop for.
Sega respects yu suzuki more than we know
I think I got more positive information about Shenmue from this video.
Shenmue 3 is a love letter to the first two games, and makes no excuses for it. Kinda like the throwaway shooters for the last two years.
The game is simply GORGEOUS, it feels really alive!!
beautiful game,I have been waiting for over 19y for this, and loving it.
The graphics and design had to be this way to keep continuity with Shenmue 1 and 2. Overall a stellar effort for a Kickstarter game.
HD rereleases are worth it.
If you play 3 you will feel at home just like part 1 and 2. Still has the charm and I'm loving it.
i hope yakuza team and sega help with the next one
There's something special that Shenmue accomplishes that Yakuza could never quite do. Their next game Like a Dragon seems to be getting closer. It would be amazing to see Shenmue 4 get a large team and budget. It would be like getting the massive jump Shenmue II had over the first game. Especially if they continue with such beautiful art direction.
@@zenunderground9893 well guidance would be under the creator so it wouldnt be an issue and personally i feel lore/setting is the only difference, while everything else they do the same like having mini games etc yakuza just does better/is more polished
The fact that Shenmue III exists is proof that miracles can happen
I'm liking the game (though I'm displeased it doesn't include at least one of the iconic '80s Sega coinops), but for some reason I still prefer the Shenmue II more vivid graphics style.

I'm playing the game on PC in 4K and it looks fantastic
2:55 Remakes? Weren't they just ports? Or like HD remasters?
Shenmue II was basically a straight port, but from what I gathered they basically had to redo most of Shenmue I.
God it looks so good. I cant believe shenmue 3 and a new haf life are real
The fighting system in S3 is basically circle around opponent, wait for them to finish their missed combo, immediately start mashing
Best Buy has it for $35 right now! Just got mines today with the Steelbook 😁😁😁
