Pest companies charge at least $80 a visit so I ended up getting a bottle of suspend polyzone and it has lasted a long time so far with really good results. We live next to a farm and I haven't seen ants or spiders in the house since applying it two weeks ago.
Ortho is not an on contact bug killer. It takes time to work. It dries the insect/spiders out and dehydrates them. It works for about 3 weeks per application, indoors. Outside, works fine, but when it rains, it is rendered useless.
I used Tempo SC and that works well for my home. However, when buying more seems they don’t have it available online anymore so I just bought this for another property, I’m sure it will work. I also added an IGR to the mix this time as the bugs at this location were pretty huge and I wanted to disrupt their growth cycles for new bugs.
Hello 😊 I live in a townhouse that is connected to other units so i can only spray partially. Also, we have many larvae daily inside, what can i do about that? Something that wont damage carpets etc. Thanks in advance.
Thank you very much for the video and the links to the product and sprayer. It really saves dollars for everyone who has watched your video. Can this be sprayed on the lawn as well ? Do you have any recommendation on the lawn fertilizer and weed controller ? Thank you !
You could spay it on the lawn, though it may not be the most cost effective product for lawn applications. In the future I do plan to do some videos on fertilizing and weed treatments, but I would want to verify any product before recommending it.
I normally use a surfactant when applying chemicals to the lawn to help it stick to the weeds or grass. Never though about using it for the house, but I could see the reasoning there as well.
Does Suspend have an odor? We’ve used Tempo WP for years. No noticeable odor or stains. It doesn’t kill plants or grass, and is a residual. It lasts at least one month or more - it keeps on killing. I may give Suspend a try. Thanks for the info. 👍🏼
I’ve never noticed any odors after spraying or stains. No issues with plants or grass either, but I try my best to avoid my plants anyways with it near the house.
Don't spray tempo WP inside your home it's a extremely dangerous chemical and will stain your floors. Keep it at exterior treatments and that stuff is amazing for scorpions
ortho works good for spider, ants but in areas sprayed near plants it dries the plants too so was looking for something better than ortho. is polyzone sprays fine areas near plants areas?
The label states “will not damage plants where water alone causes no damage”. I personally try to avoid my plants when spraying, but it sounds like according to the label when used appropriately it should not damage plants. However it should not be used on anything edible like garden vegetation for food.
I’m sure bifenthrin works at a stronger concentrate than what it is diluted to in the ortho home defense max. While I haven’t used stronger bifenthrin myself I am just sharing my experience with Suspend Polyzone and that it’s worked great for my personal use. Thanks for sharing your insight and experiences with bifenthrin though.
What is wrong with Lady Bugs? Both my parents where born to long line of farmers. They wanted Lady Bugs, Not Japanese Beetles. They look just like Lady Bugs, except they get Way Bigger than Lady Bugs. Lady Bug's are aphids eater's just like portmanteaus and Daddy Long Legs, which are not spiders either. Please let me know what is wrong with them.
You are correct about the difference between ladybugs and Japanese beetles. I’ve just always used the names interchangeably. My target has been Japanese beetles in the past, and this spray works for that.
I am infested with fleas inside my house, can this product eliminate them?, I have been using Orthox the one they sell at Home Depot, but I do not see effective results, they have already washed my carpets, but they never washed under the beds that is the place where my pet hides?, I am like this daily using insecticide spray for fleas, I feel desperate that I still feel these bugs, they are less but they still come out, please I need a suggestion and how should I spray my rooms in my house , my pet is also in treatment against fleas, but these came through my yard, that's where it all started!, Thanks in advance for your help and advice.
Suspend Polyzone will work against fleas, but the “polyzone” version is just the more expensive type to last longer for outdoor applications. You can spray it around your house and on your lawn (pet areas) to help protect against fleas and create a new barrier. You could also use it inside but there are other cheaper and effective products as well. Using a dust product to sprinkle in your carpets and brush/vacuum would help too. I’m posting a link below to a good website that offers advice on indoor and outdoor flea products. Good luck. www.domyown.com/how-to-get-rid-of-fleas-a-483.html
Generally speaking to be safe I’d say a few hours. Since you’re mixing it with water it’s whatever time it would take for the water to evaporate, which can depend on the temperature and other factors.
Oh no not the ladybugs 🐞 😭. I definitely need this for these crazy spiders and ants though. I have a 2 story house. So it’s not as easy for me to get to the top floor windows. But they are moving into every nook and cranny and I have a large fake tree outside of my front porch and those bastards have covered most of my tree with large spiderwebs and im not happy to say the least. But this will work for my basement and first floor. So that’s good for me. I also have a garden. Is this bad for my plants.
It should be fine on plants, but if you are a little concerned you could try spraying the area around the plants instead of hitting the plants directly. I just finished spraying my arborvitae trees yesterday for spiders.
The label is the Law. Read and follow the label, more is better is illegal and may very well wash away into storm drains > water table. In many states applying to nonporous horizontal surface ( driveways, sidewalks) is also illegal. This and Barricor each kick ass.
It can kill roaches if the roaches come in contact with the sprayed areas, however it will not be an instant kill. This is more for a barrier of protection. For roaches you would want to attack from multiple angles. You may consider spraying with suspend polyzone but also placing roach bait traps for better combined results.

I drenched a wolf spider with Ortho and it just laughed and gave me the finger.

ladybugs? wtf, who doesnt love ladybugs? they even eat leaf fleas and stuff
you should add a surfactant like liquid dish soap non anti bacterial. it will last longer and wash off as fast.
I normally use a surfactant when applying chemicals to the lawn to help it stick to the weeds or grass. Never though about using it for the house, but I could see the reasoning there as well.

Texas Tractor Supply has a good selection of insecticides, IGR for fleas👍

Does it leave any type of residue behind or discoloring thank you
I’ve sprayed it on concrete, siding, my composite deck, and indoors around trim and never noticed any discoloring.

What’s the time line before pets and small children can come into the treated area?
It just has to dry…so to be safe I’d say a couple of hours.
The bifenthrin works great at the prescribed .6 percent solution.i have no issues with it.

Does it help to get rid off termites?
Unfortunately no, but check out domyown.com for something like dominion 2L. Good luck.

Haha,
Smart Guy!
The Ortho home defense sucks. I have to spray every week.
Facts!!!
Is this only for outdoor?
You can use it indoors. Just make sure it dries before coming in contact with anything.
Is that available on Amazon
Yep, check it out below.

Great point. The same can be said for lawn fertilizer depending where you’re located, weed killer, etc. Following the label is a must. 👍🏻
I swear Ortho home defense is water. Seems useless
100%
