My brother just passed away two days ago with brain cancer. We saw U2 three times together, just some of the lifetime of memories together. I miss him so much, and dedicate this to him. His light will shine brightly for all eternity.

My Mom took me to see U2 for the very first time back in 1985. I just lost her in October after a battle with Altzheimers, and lost my Dad only 5 weeks later. My parents always encouraged me to follow my dreams, whether it be traveling to Ireland or meeting friends across the US at concerts and getting to meet U2. I lost interest in the band after I became a busy Mom, but the funny thing is, I heard this song in a hair salon one day while waiting for Mom to get her hair done and the years came rushing back. Thank you Mom and Dad, I love and miss you. Thank you U2 for being the soundtrack of my youth, and now a part of my adulthood too... ❤
Lost my father years ago due to Cancer but my mother to Altzheimers. That disease sucks out loud. It is the worst. No one can understand to dealing with it, without personal experience. I'm glad U2 helped you bring back some good memories.
I’m 16. When I discovered the album aged six back in 2014 when it appeared on my iTunes I listened to it on repeat for weeks. Songs of innocence was the first album I ever listened to start to finish and I soon became a massive fan of U2. But for me, this is the album that sparked my love of music. Thank you U2 ❤
wow that is interesting what time does. I’m an older fan who gladly accepted the album although annoying when it’d come on randomly on the phone because it is still the only music that I have on here. I ended up saving only my favs off the album. Going back to that time, that was their first album coming back from the low disappointing sales of NLOTH. And that album seemed so promising there was something called the beach clips where Bono blasted the songs out of his villa and people on the beach recorded. Which you heard literal breaking waves mixed in and they sounded really great. These got erased off the internet. The songs were there but something didnt click. Anyway they got really worried about this release, since the music landscape changed so Bono thought that idea up so the music would actually be heard. Apple as Bono put it “was meant to leave the milk at your door but instead put it in your fridge and in some cases, your cereal bowl” I’m glad new fans came out of it which in most likeliness would’ve never heard the music at least at the time.

I don't want to take away from anyones stories here but if you grew up and had a hard life, U2s music hits you so much. It's like validation and strength for your pain. They make you cry inside with strength. They are the best.
My mother left our family when I was 17 years old. Since the day she left, I longed for a mother figure so badly. A year ago, I met one of the most amazing person ever at work. She is a colleague of mine. She turned out to be the mentor & friend I needed my whole life! I dedicate this song to her! Thank you for being there for me! Thank you for making the world a better place!
God brought her to you. He uses His people for Heavenly purposes bc He loves us💞 But so sorry to hear about your mom. She really missed out. She was running from something but it wasn't her family. Lord heal you both and bring forgiveness and reconciliation in Jesus name.
This song is for my Big Sister. Thank you U2.. I have not cried since I lost my big sister, from leaukimia my best friend, my rock, when I was 10 and she was one month from her 12th birthday. This is the song that got me interested in U2. It gave me the courage to tell the girl I love how I felt. Artists like these are hard to come by nowadays. This is a song that matches my life for the last 3 years. It is inspiration, encouragement and hope. This is a song, for everyone.
Yep I will meet my first crush, first love in the afterlife, she was taken from me 6 months after we seen eye to eye. She was the kindest human I've ever layed eyes on in my 42 years on this planet. God bless you Shauna
Oh my goodness. U2. They've been amazing for so long. I'm in my 40s now, but every great song I hear from them takes me back to my teen years in the 80s when I first heard them. Some things are timeless, great music is one of those things.
I love this song because of the truth within its words. We all have a light that is valuable to this world. We all struggle, its being human. As long as we continue to fight our way through our issues, that light will always be there. This has to be one of this best songs.
this reminds me of me. im a man but i feel it really speaks for everyone thats going through stuff. not a big U2 listener but after i got iphone6 i tend to havw this on the playlist when im running.. feel like im running towards now not running away.. thanks for helping with my pain
I’m so sorry I lost my oldest daughter not to long ago my mom my dad n brother I basically had my fill in lost stay strong n know that god🙏🏻🤍 is with us 💚
the best U2 song in the last decade, if there's a light don't let it go out. Well at times I'm feeling there is a Flickr left struggling to find flame.
Growing up in an Apartheid SA U2 lifted our spirits. Hope was just such an amazing gift to forget the struggle but to make us understand that there are life and joy beyond the boarders of an oppressive culture. Thank you U2
My dad has been a fan of U2 since he was really young... he even's got a tattoo. And I have always thought that U2 is a really successful band, with a big fanbase. But a few weeks ago, I found out about the reason of why my dad cries when he listens "original of the species", it's a beautiful song, and he gets emotional when he hears it because it reminds him about me... so I listened the song again and it took a new meaning for me. Now I'm checking their other songs, like I still haven't found what I looking for and Bad, and they're really profound and beautiful. I'm finally understanding why they are a band that's so big and important, they don't release commercial music, they're profound and special.
I can honestly say that this song changed my life. I've always been a huge music fan. My dad is a musician, my grandfather is a musician. So many people in my life were amazing artists! But this song. It came on the radio when I was driving home after sending off my brother who was going away for military training. It just spoke to me. It touched my soul. That is what music should do. You should be able to feel it in your bones. Feel it resonate. There is a light, don't let it go out
there is always the ember of hope in us, as long as we're breathing and our hearts are beating. I discovered this in the last two years of my life, and this beautiful song and beautiful video describe my experience, including the crash, awakening and resurgence.
This song is pure bliss. In my opinion, one of their finest. Aside from the meaning the lyrics, can we appreciate Larry on the drums, Edge with background vocals that almost sound like a Gregorian chant. This song has so much energy in it, just amazing. Thanks @U2!
This song, this album helped me a lot. I will always be grateful of hearing this album in the worst moment of my life. I every day listen one song of the album. Just for crying, just to remember, just to have the sad moment of the day. The sad moment that help you to smile the rest of the day
I just lost my wife to cancer little over a month ago. God how I miss her, but I know in my heart besiders her being in a better place I will see her again. This song hits every point in my heart, soul, and mind about how I feel. Thank you U2 and Bono, you've done it again.
Best music in the WHOLE WORLD is RIGHT HERE. THIS CHANNEL. THIS BAND. Sometimes listening to this song and many others makes me cry form how beautiful it is. Great work, god, for making this band work out. For having these people meet. For creating music to inspire us to make more.
U2 il primo amore nn si scorda mai. Quanti ricordi con October...War...Unforgettable Fire....Rattle and Hum....con loro gli anni 80 sono diventati indimenticabili. ❤️ Questo brano mi ricorda tanto quel periodo.
The closing line literally falls gently upon your soul like a warm blanket and whispers earnestly... calling you to rise up and live an upright life so as to shine your love into dark places.. and make a difference...
I am a guy of 21 yo and the first music I heard was "with or without you" when i was 16 *.* I love this band. And I just fell in love of a guy, who share this music on his wall Facebook wall, just for me...
U2 is immortal, I mean in years to come they will still be relevant- I loved this song for sometime but it's only now I see the video and it feels like a new song

Nice to see younger people that like good music. Im only 21 myself and i already feel like the 'new' generation doesnt know any of the 80s bands. Glad to see myself proven wrong :D
Glad to hear there are young people like you Katie and Lisa... I was 11 years old when I heard my first U2 song (I will follow).. I never stopped listening to them, I’m 45 years old now and all my 3 kids love them too..keep on rocking to U2, the greatest bad in the world. Peace be with you
This song, just bring out all the pain I feel but makes me feel like it’s just enough to manage. Like there’s been a lift. This song, is something else. I’m in love. I’m glad I found this. It’s been years since i first heard it yet it always makes me feel the same way.
I fell in love with this song at the first time that I heard it...make me travel away in my thoughts, get lost in them and come back...thank you U2...for being the wonderful band that you are . My all life I listen to your music. My memories , my musical memories you're present in many of them . Thank you !!!!
Back in 2000s something I turned out to wake up with this album in my iPod and IPhone (back in the days i used to have an iPhone). At that time and space it was the best moment to listen to this song, even know, I don't take it as a marketing stunt, I take it as a nudge to go and live the most I can. I was going through some very dark times back then, and I started listening to this song that turned up in my library randomly and it gave me back my wings. U2 will forever be magically, I grew up with their music, as my dad is a huge fan. And listening to this song made me convinced to protect that light and have it never go out.
They are just a bunch of dumb people who are too lazy to switch off automatic downloads. Surely the first thing you do is switch off automatic downloads as soon as you get a new phone. If you don't then you should expect to receive everything and anything. Beyoncé did the same thing but with a few songs rather than a full album beforehand and it was a success for her as well. The music business is broken. Nowadays there's singers and bands doing the same thing every week
Vi seguo da sempre, siete i numero uno e siete irlandesi! è proprio perché siete irlandesi che riuscite ad essere sempre i migliori! grazie continuate a farci sognare... Vi stimo
U2 is my oldest love in music. Bono's voice, Edge's great sound and guitar playing and the solid and original spine of the band with Larry and Adam who are always forgotten... Just one of the best bands still active that never changed a band member and that was never afraid to take chances. I would love your input on our cover of U2's Ordinary Love. Maybe we succeeded, maybe not, we let you be the judge if you have two or three minutes to spare and a thumb up or down to add, come listen and judge us here :-) : ruclips.net/video/yiUkR6YUNgU/видео.html
Excellent interpretation as always of Bono. A theme with a deep message that comes and speaks directly to the heart. Thanks U2 for this unique ability to compose music to the thoughts of the soul.
I had thought about my ex when I listened this song before, but now my mom has leukemia and that "someone" completely changed to her. This change is indecated of my life goes on with "someone" who can't always be. And it gave me a teathing that I should cherish someone always while there is a light. Thank you U2... made me realize it. from Japan
The greatest rock band of all time by a county mile 45 years together and still as relevant as always This band saved my life in the 90s with their best album Achtung baby I'd hit rock bottom after an awful experience. Their lyrics are sublime and the emotions they bring with them send tingles through my body. They take me places I never knew existed & were the backdrop to my 20s and are still at 52 Live they are on another planet 🔥
Aye Gavin! U2 was my childhood inspiration, the only band whose compilation CD I played while asleep, so I could wake up with Where streets have no name and similar songs. Fan since Unforgettable Fire. Alas had a huge gap of not following them since 1998, thinking they gave it all with POP. Now I'm seeing how many beautiful albums and songs I have missed. It's never too late, but I feel sad I have let down my band from childhood that I loved to the dearest.

LYRICS
You got a face not spoiled by beauty
I have some scars from where I've been
You've got eyes that can see right through me
You're not afraid of anything they've seen
I was told that I would feel nothing the first time
I don't know how these cuts heal
But in you I found a rhyme
If there is a light
You can't always see
And there is a world
We can't always be
If there is a dark
Now we shouldn't doubt
And there is a light
Don't let it go out
And this is a song
A song for someone
This is a song
A song for someone
You let me into a conversation
A conversation only we could make
You break and enter my imagination
Whatever's in there
It's yours to take
I was told I'd feel nothing the first time
You were slow to heal
But this could be the night
If there is a light
You can't always see
And there is a world
We can't always be
If there is a dark
Within and without
And there is a light
Don't let it go out
And this is a song
A song for someone
This is a song
This is a song for someone
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
And I'm a long way
From your hill of Calvary
And I'm a long way
From where I was, where I need to be
If there is a light
You can't always see
And there is a world
We can't always be
If there is a kiss
I stole from your mouth
And there is a light
Don't let it go out

I was told that I would feel
Nothing the first time
I don't know how these cuts heal
But in you I found a right
If there is a light
You can always see
And there is a world
We can always be
If there is a dark
That we shouldn't doubt
And there is a light
Don't let it go out
And this is a song
A song for someone
This is a song
A song for someone
You let me into a conversation
A conversation only we could make
You're breaking into my imagination
Whatever's in there is yours to take
I was told I'd feel
Nothing the first time
You were slow to heal
But this could be the night
If there is a light
You can always see
And there is a world
We can always be
If there is a dark
Within and without
And there is a light
Don't let it go out
And this is a song
A song for someone
This is a song
A song for someone
And I'm a long way
From your hill on Calvary
And I'm a long way
From where I was, where I need to be
If there is a light
You can always see
And there is a world
We can always be
If there is a kiss
I stole from your mouth
And there is a light,
Don't let it go out
If there Is a light
You CAN'T Always see
And there Is a world
We CAN'T Always be
Sorry for this post but those "can't" helped me a lot. You can't always see the light But It Is there. You can't Always be there. But maybe we CAN'T see you... ❤️
@@mirit.4287 It’s true, it’s not easy to hear but he sings ‘can’t’, not ‘can’.
Too much time on your hands
A rhyme not right😍
@@mirit.4287 yes, keeping the faith and knowing there is an ember of hope in the darkness. beautiful.
I don't want to take away from anyones stories here but if you grew up and had a hard life, U2s music hits you so much. It's like validation and strength for your pain. They make you cry inside with strength. They are the best.
More than u can Imagine.!
Don't let your light ever go out
Hi I Recommend an indie song & video called 'looking into the mirror' by Robert Nix
WOW!
This song is for my Big Sister. Thank you U2..
I have not cried since I lost my big sister, from leaukimia my best friend, my rock, when I was 10 and she was one month from her 12th birthday. She passed in my mum's arms at home, waiting for an ambulance, no morphine no pain killers, she never complained. For this song to bring tears to my eye's shows it has a special meaning. Absolutely Beautiful. Thank you Kind thoughts from Australia 😥🥺🦋
My condolences

This is the song that got me interested in U2. It gave me the courage to tell the girl I love how I felt. Artists like these are hard to come by nowadays. This is a song that matches my life for the last 3 years. It is inspiration, encouragement and hope. This is a song, for everyone.
Yep I will meet my first crush, first love in the afterlife, she was taken from me 6 months after we seen eye to eye. She was the kindest human I've ever layed eyes on in my 42 years on this planet. God bless you Shauna
It's never get old...just like a old wine
never..........
Oh my goodness. U2. They've been amazing for so long. I'm in my 40s now, but every great song I hear from them takes me back to my teen years in the 80s when I first heard them. Some things are timeless, great music is one of those things.
One of the songs you want to listen to before you go heaven. Im sure for me, this song will be up there to listen to. Before i go heaven.
I lost my niece October 14, 2018 , to a wreck less driver high on pcp who hit the car at 110 mph. I miss you so much Des!!! Until we meet again

I lost my oldest daughter not to long ago my mom my dad n brother I basically had my fill in lost stay strong n know that god🙏🏻🤍 is with us 💚
Some people are ungrateful, and that's why you should never throw pearls to the pigs.
That is such a beautiful song!
Seriously fantastic song with Bono nailing the vocals yet again. I love this one.
The best band in the world!!!
Sandra OLIVEROS VESGA in the universe
This song reminds me of my first love. He was so cruel to me, but I don't feel hurt anymore and I only remember good things, like this song
Kisses
You allowed everything
This song may not be for everyone ..... but it is definitely for me .
😭😭
Want to share feelings and hug you 🤗 good luck on your journey
the best U2 song in the last decade, if there's a light don't let it go out. Well at times I'm feeling there is a Flickr left struggling to find flame.
This song gives me chills. Such a wonderful message. Love and light to all.
Growing up in an Apartheid SA U2 lifted our spirits. Hope was just such an amazing gift to forget the struggle but to make us understand that there are life and joy beyond the boarders of an oppressive culture. Thank you U2
u2 can always make good music no matter how old they get
if there is all that rubbish on the radio (like new songs) I prefer the old songs so I can just listen to u2 on my iPod
Qian wen
so true , sometimes when i put down my
headphone , i feel like time travelling from
the 80s . at least that's when music still
made sense
ohh sorry but coldplay to and gorillaz :v
Biker both No line on the horizon and songs of innocence are brilliant
Thanks for saying so. I'm sick of all the ageism in music
U2 was always ,since youth age one of my favorite and understandable band with emotional lyrics and super sound. Thank you!
This song is gorgeous! It warms my heart when I play it while driving and my 7 year old sings along. She sings along to the whole album. So beautiful!
There is a light, don't let it go out
Yes.
Absolutely Liam!! No doubt.
❤️❤️❤️
Patrimonio dell umanità
there is always the ember of hope in us, as long as we're breathing and our hearts are beating. I discovered this in the last two years of my life, and this beautiful song and beautiful video describe my experience, including the crash, awakening and resurgence.
my dad passed away two years ago... this song always makes me think of him.. how much i miss him..
stay strong dude, but life must go on ☺
This song is pure bliss.
The sad moment that help you to smile the rest of the day
Underrated Album EXTREMELY underrated song. One of my fav U2 songs!
I love this song. It’s gives so much love and hope
Honestly IMO I think this is up there with their best work.
its similar to their classic work, isnt it?
@
It sure is
Songs of Innocence is almost on par with The Joshua Tree, far as I'm concerned!
This is such a beautiful song. Oh my God, if I had a sliver of talent these guys had, I would die a happier man.
I definitely would as well

I just lost my wife to cancer little over a month ago. God how I miss her, but I know in my heart besiders her being in a better place I will see her again. This song hits every point in my heart, soul, and mind about how I feel. Thank you U2 and Bono, you've done it again.

Perhaps the most beautiful song I have ever heard!
Wonderful song by a Wonderful Irish band..So much talent in Ireland
Bono's voice is so incredibly beautiful and soothing!
The closing line literally falls gently upon your soul like a warm blanket and whispers earnestly... calling you to rise up and live an upright life so as to shine your love into dark places.. and make a difference...
Beautiful metaphor :)
Best song from their last album.
I am a guy of 21 yo and the first music I heard was "with or without you" when i was 16 *.* I love this band.
And I just fell in love of a guy, who share this music on his wall Facebook wall, just for me...
I listened to this song as a child .. how long it flies so fast ..
How you can denied that U2 are one of the greatest
U2 is immortal, I mean in years to come they will still be relevant- I loved this song for sometime but it's only now I see the video and it feels like a new song
i'm fifteen and even I know this song is fabulous, and so are U2.
Everytime I hear someone slate U2 I just think "Uncultured swine".
I bloody LOVE this song!!!!!!
Katie Beavers
Nice to see younger people that like good music. Im only 21 myself and i already feel like the 'new' generation doesnt know any of the 80s bands. Glad to see myself proven wrong :D
Rick Morks i'm 13 and i never listen to 'new' songs lmao
Glad to hear there are young people like you Katie and Lisa... I was 11 years old when I heard my first U2 song (I will follow).. I never stopped listening to them, I’m 45 years old now and all my 3 kids love them too..keep on rocking to U2, the greatest bad in the world. Peace be with you
@Netto shopper lol go do stuff so do go do
This song, just bring out all the pain I feel but makes me feel like it’s just enough to manage. Like there’s been a lift. This song, is something else. I’m in love. I’m glad I found this. It’s been years since i first heard it yet it always makes me feel the same way.
BEST SONG EVER MADE THE LOVE U CAN’T FORGET AND KEEP IN YOUR HEART WITHOUT NO ONE KNOW THAT U STILL LOVE THAT PERSON!
Another masterpiece by U2 \m/
\m/
My heart just melts when I hear this song...
Everyone could be the “Someone” of this song.
Thanks, U2. ❤️
The song was written for Diane whom Bono Hewson was too afraid to name publicly because of her abusive relationship he feared for her life
I fell in love with this song at the first time that I heard it...make me travel away in my thoughts, get lost in them and come back...thank you U2...for being the wonderful band that you are . My all life I listen to your music. My memories , my musical memories you're present in many of them . Thank you !!!!
This is one of U2's best songs, Awesome, Beautiful, & Classy!
These Irish Lads Never Cease To Amaze Me!!! Love It!!! Everything About This Song!!!!
A song that was really meant for someone...thanx U2 for making it easy for me and for someone special...
This is a song of healing for me. I love Bono and U2 so many meaningful songs
Vi seguo da sempre, siete i numero uno e siete irlandesi! è proprio perché siete irlandesi che riuscite ad essere sempre i migliori! grazie continuate a farci sognare... Vi stimo
This song got me through one of my lowest points. The power of music.
Songs by U2 always say something for someone. They're not common songs, that's why I love all U2 songs.

I love U2 forever! !!!!......
Nice
Me too
Larry Mullen Jnr's drumming is so underrated. His contribution to U2's music is signicant. "Less is more"
This album IMO is just as great as anything they did in 90s.
Never want this song to end
I had thought about my ex when I listened this song before, but now my mom has leukemia and that "someone" completely changed to her. This change is indecated of my life goes on with "someone" who can't always be. And it gave me a teathing that I should cherish someone always while there is a light. Thank you U2... made me realize it. from Japan
this is a song that can make you cry
Tomas fca exactly
Almost every time
U2, huh?
no shame in having emotions.
The greatest rock band of all time by a county mile 45 years together and still as relevant as always
This band saved my life in the 90s with their best album Achtung baby I'd hit rock bottom after an awful experience.
Their lyrics are sublime and the emotions they bring with them send tingles through my body.
They take me places I never knew existed & were the backdrop to my 20s and are still at 52
Live they are on another planet 🔥
Many people feel the same about u2.
Fo©k I love this song😂
This has slowly become my favorite song with everything I’ve been through
Going through it is the only way anyone knows what he's getting at. Best to you and shalom in the journey.
U2 wins my heart again, this song may climb to my top10 U2 songs
No words...just U2...
Wow Bravo the moment when you find yourself
40 years on and still strong..the greatest band in history of music..love you Bono,Adam Clyton,Edge and of course LARRY MULLEN JR...
Been a fan for years and this is the first time I'm hearing this... so beautiful.
