"F- the government" is probably one of the most historically American sentiments to express. We need some amount of structure, law and order, etc., absolutely. But keep your nose out of my business, your hands off my money, and your feet off my lawn unless you have a darn good, Constitutionally valid reason.
Everything you own is because the government allows you to own it and your AKs and ARs will never defend you from the US military. Yes! The flip side of that is, traditionally, Americans govern themselves because our country was built on the backs of people with responsibility and morals.
I mean, we have Ichica Nito, Marcin Patrzalek and Manual Gardner Fernandes, greatest guitarists of our time if not the greatest yet. And most if not all the music they do is instrumental, so no singing or lyrics, just guitar. And really good one at that.
All music has always been political. The only difference is now celebrities are looked at more for who to vote and simply not a "this singer supports gay people, maybe I should too"
music genres have often had loose ideologies tied to them, technology just made it harder to spread the details. the Jazz scene, the Mods, the Rockers, Skin heads, the Beatniks, Glam Rock, Disco scene, Hip Hop, PLUR rave scene. Fashion, drugs, and philosophies. The most politically driven music artists would've been in the Hippie and Punk scenes. I'd argue that they complained more than they endorsed though. It ramped up during the MTV era due to exposure, and now social media has unleashed cult followings that demand even basic pop stars provide political guidance apparently. It was better when we knew less about the artist's personal lives and just enjoyed the music!

@@saulgoodman2018 The fact that they are complaining about this girl would logically carry on I shouldn't like Freddie. He was one of the most flamboyant gay performers of his time. Funny thing though, damn near every Conservative that is into Rock and Roll thinks he was a God onstage so the pushback against this little girl doesn't make any sense. And I don't think there is Conservative pushback here. I'm thinking that many of those "conservative" posts Brett is talking about are not Conservatives but are sh*tposters trying to stir up hatred.
Returning to a time when artists and celebrities just performed and talked casually with their fans and kept their personal lives and politics separate from their stage lives would be a refreshing step towards restoring calmness and cordiality.
I'm conservative and I love her. I like her songs and I think she's very talented, I hope she doesn't give up music because of this kind of thing and takes good care of her health.
I’ve enjoyed Chappell Roan’s music since I first heard it … But since she essentially said that she’s on good terms with her conservative family members and doesn’t see anything wrong with that, I gained more respect for her. I’m moderate, but many of my family members are conservative and unfortunately there’s a political rift in my extended family. I’m glad Chappell has risen above that - good for her.
I love Chappell and I love how talented she is. The only thing is I feel bad for her because she's gonna get eaten alive in the world of fame and popularity.
Of late there is so much pressure for celebrities and even noncelebrities to state our politics, as if you’re hiding some deep dark secret if you choose not to say or to be neutral.

I think people often forget that most of the time public figures aren't "the regular citizen" they live different lives so most of the time they will vote for what benefits them.
Right? Good Luck Babe and Take Me To Church are both songs that are about gay people and gay relationships but its such a good beat its popular with heterosexuals

She literally even said she's not voting for Trump and "fuck the right", yet her own side is rejecting her simply because she won't endorse Kamala. Message from middle Georgia after the hurricane: It was really bad the day after. The amount of destruction in towns like Uvalda Soperton Hazlehurst and many, many others suffered buildings collapsing trees blocked the roads for 3 whole days and our buildings aren't built with the same codes as Florida so a large part of the entirety of middle Georgia suffered apocalyptic style destruction and we are still out of power.
There is a lot of misinformation going around about the damages, but I have traveled around surveying damages myself the day after, and it was catastrophic. Edit: There are still trees in some of the roads of some counties like Truetlen County
I'm conservative and I also love Chappel's music despite not agreeing with her politics. I think we should all be able to enjoy things without having to dive to deep into politics all the time
So the surge in hate crimes when trump first was elected is nothing? It’s not trump personally per say it is what he condones and the people who follow him and what they believe
Lmao, I just saw your instagram reel with those comments and omg I’m so glad that you talked about those comments. People seriously need to stop worrying about what other people listen to.
I think she did the best thing ANY celebrity could make.. she didn't say who people should vote for, she told people to be sure to go vote and use their votes and put some thoughts into who and what yhey vote for. People are so upset she didn't come right out and throw her support behind Harris.. that's insane to me! She did exactly what anyone should do. And you can look at this girl and KNOW EXACTLY who she is going to vote for without her needing to say it! She also said people should vote small also. To actually get up and go vote for their smaller local elections not only on the big presidential vote. Those small local politicians are who will make the most direct impact on you, so be sure to participate in those elections as well and to do your own research and decide for yourself who you choose. This idea is how it always USED TO BE! There were ALWAYS celebrities encouraging people to vote, but normally they wouldn't shove a specific candidate down your throat! I'm old so I still remember MTV when is had Mrv news and music lol the big "rock the vote" campaigns they had to get people to vote and to get involved and do your job as an American citizen and go vote. But they didn't ever specifically sat which person to vote for or even who they were voting for, because that isn't really something people like to share outloud. Growing up in the Midwest I was raised to not speak about politics or religion to those I do not personally know and have a friendship with.. but to not go tell the world who I'm voting for or where my religious beliefs fell. I wish we could have ALL celebrities do this.. encourage people to do research of their own and go use their votes. Not only for the presidential election but ALL elections in your area if you wish to make changes you have to start with local politicians
Idk, the trans community I know is mad at her for saying there is no difference between the candidates on trans rights. That’s not really opinion. That’s so wrong I think it qualifies as misinformation. And she is probably just ignorant about the situation. But…that’s super annoying if she is claiming it’s her main issue and that she has done even three minutes of research and somehow come to the conclusion that they are the same. They are definitely not the same. And I get why that is scary and concerning and just plain aggravating to trans people.
Brett, you said it yourself I may not agree with you, but I understand your values. My father said the exact same thing when we had a conversation about basically everything I just wanna let you know that it’s nice to hear someone else say it that isn’t me and my father and my husband.
I agree with everything you said except the last part about her canceling her show last minute. If you are flying across the world to see ONE ARTIST at a FESTIVAL not even like her own show. THATS EXTREMELY risky and not a smart move money wise.
Oh, good to see you made a video on this T-T The other person I tried to watch started the video by saying he was centralist and then insulted the right ._. Like sir. Your left leaning. He also said the right isn't willing to have a calm sit down talk right before calling the entire right racists, sexist, homophobes and what not. Like buddy. You can only have those conversations only if you have the mutual respect to listen to each other. And that was not respectful at all. Like I got lots of friends on the left. Do I hate them and disrespect them?? No??? I have respect for my all my friends! If we wanted to have a conversation on politics, I think we could have one without screaming at each other! (hopefully. I don't like talking politics) But yeah, I'd like to just say I like how you don't care about people pollical beliefs when it comes to enjoy people's music and what not :)
For God's sake, just listen to her music. Chappell Roan is a singer and musician, let her do her stuff and stop trying to get into her or other celebrities head. Jeez, people...
Best thing to teach your kids when they are young. Discover who you are, what you believe is, what you stand for. Then ... do NOT allow social media to dominate your life, or for the voices who dont know you to control your thoughts/beliefs. We continue to learn and grow, but we also need to be confident in our values. So learn early on how to tune out the static. If you dont, its just soul sucking and suffocating.
Brett, I myself am a neutral. I kinda stand in the middle on a lot of issues. I feel exactly where Chappell roan is coming from, both sides this election, yes there is some good benefits in there. But some of the risks don’t weight the reward. Feel so bad she got digged into by the media, she didn’t deserve that especially with showing she has the ability to stay level. Which takes a lot of strength. Our politics are genuinely kind of a circus, and it’s really hard to sit and watch everything. On both sides, worried about the things like abortion bans from the right from the fact alone of all the risks for those who may need them (emergency’s, and so on), as well as women’s rights, and rights as a whole. And then the lefts bills which could undermine other very serious factors, Both sides are throwing areas of consideration out the window, so this was a breath of fresh air to find a mild take. ✌️ (I’m 18, so if this doesn’t sound cohesive. Then my bad. Very involved into watching both sides as of the last few years, so still making my way through.)
This is especially true for non-American conservatives. For example here in Canada our Conservative Party would actually be considered more centrist by American standards, but if you say you're voting Conservative in Canada you'll still get people who think you're a Trump supporter or a conspiracy theorist. Canada's federal political structure is vastly different than America's and we have been stuck with the same Prime Minister for almost a decade despite his failures and almost statistically universal unpopularity. It's very bizarre. If you're an Aussie or Kiwi Conservative you'll get the same attitude from Americans, but Australia and New Zealand again have a very different political structure and different political parties with different names. Ditto with the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy... there are so many different ways to be "Conservative" in the world, but according to the internet, we're all just bigoted Republicans.

As a gay dude myself, I've been criticized so much (from the left) for being libertarian and having more conservative than liberal views. Sure, there are things on the right that I do not agree with, but their important values line up with mine so I just don't agree with the left as much. We already have gay rights, so what's the point of expanding it? It's not important for our country and there are bigger issues at hand like immigration.

I have conservative friends that I know would never look in my direction again for other beliefs of mine. We can’t just be our own people and respect how others think feel and perceive life differently. If you do meet someone different, it’s immediately a debate about how some of their beliefs are wrong and how what you think is right. I’m so tired of it
"F- the government" is probably one of the most historically American sentiments to express. We need some amount of structure, law and order, etc., absolutely. But keep your nose out of my business, your hands off my money, and your feet off my lawn unless you have a darn good, Constitutionally valid reason.
Amen!
Everything you own is because the government allows you to own it and your AKs and ARs will never defend you from the US military. You dont own anything except your body which you dont even spiritually own cause you give it back to the earth when you pass.

I miss when music was just music. Now they gotta drag politics and ideologies into the mix.
The only difference is now celebrities are looked at more for who to vote and simply not a "this singer supports gay people, maybe I should too"
Music is a form of expression.
So if course it can be political. It ain't a big deal.
*punk has left the chat*
music genres have often had loose ideologies tied to them, technology just made it harder to spread the details. the Jazz scene, the Mods, the Rockers, Skin heads, the Beatniks, Glam Rock, Disco scene, Hip Hop, PLUR rave scene.
I'm starting to notice that having an opinion is basically a crime now, apparently.
No no, bigot, you just need to have the **correct opinions** otherwise DEMOCRACY DIES ... or something.

I’ve enjoyed Chappell Roan’s music since I first heard it … But since she essentially said that she’s on good terms with her conservative family members and doesn’t see anything wrong with that, I gained more respect for her. Yeah, apparently it’s a micro aggression to mispronounce a person of color’s name. Ppl like to mostly get offended bc they think shes black but her name is hindu and ppl pronouns it the americanized way, not even the proper way.
They should be embarrassed to use it any year under any circumstance.

(hopefully. I don't like talking politics)

Chappelle is the previous left, not today's extremely radical left.
(I’m 18, so if this doesn’t sound cohesive. Then my bad. Very involved into watching both sides as of the last few years, so still making my way through.)
It sounds like some of the crap I get when I tell people I’m a conservative. They say “So you’re a republican?” No… I’m conservative.
So you hate the middle class?
