Really really hope Elektron sees this video and does something about the quantized note entry issue you pointed out. That's how I work too and would really love for the knob to stay in scale when changing a note.
Dude after ur advice please. Im Looking at buying a small midi controller. So I can do small jams on my couch when I’m not at my main music desk. is there anyone u would recommend? I see u using the K-board. Do u still use that one or have found something else small and compact u like? Keep up the amazing videos and tunes, ur a huge insperation to me. 🤘🤘🤘🖤🖤🖤
Sequencing the Syntakt with the Octatrack midi channels also works very well. You get ARP and quantised scales. And when you like the sequence you live record into the ST. Have been playing with this for a while and it’s quite nice. Can be a bit confusing at first with sequencing on both devices.
Yes! Thank you for making these workflow videos, I find them very useful. I'm gradually forging a live setup and MIDI control is so confusing for me (as I want to use the setup for sound design too) but I will take onboard your comments about not making things too complicated with MIDI controllers. Also, you mention the Syntakt does not have an arpeggiator. Well the QuNexus now has three separate ones as well as the simple sequencers! Polymeter is very easy on it and you might find it useful. I know the red is not a great match to most setups but the used ones in black are sometimes less than the K-Board new price, and they all have the same hardware. There is also a MIDI DIN out converter cable available to bypass the extra USB hardware. It was too much postage cost for me in UK but I think they'll be available in Europe soon. Keep up the great vibe :)
Thanks for this cool video! I've been trying to recreate your OT + Perfourmer setup with affordable means for a while now. The ST is a great option here. Especially with the nice external midi controller. With this setup, would it be possible to include the OT as a midi sequencer for the ST? Does that work with the Kenton device? I am really a big fan of your very inspiring videos. Thanks again!
That was an amazing video. Thank you very much! I learned a lot from how you translated your workflow and sound to the syntakt. I wonder if this video was partially inspired by my comment on your Laguna piece?
@@OoraMusic Fair enough. From an outsider's perspective, it sounds like it would suit your style quite well. I'll be hoping to see it one day on your channel. Thanks, and keep up with the good work!
@@OoraMusic you don’t need to know FM to use the Digitone. It has been simplified, no ratios that can go too mad, very comprehensible especially with your experience. You’d love it, very versatile sounds in a compact box.
Total agree with you. Everything sound cool alone. But when you compare with the perfourmer....There are some synths on the market that just can't be replaced.
Great comparison ! I own both the syntakt and OT myself and I’ll absolutely try to make a track using four voices like this 👍👍 I have my modular gear going into the syntakt for overdrive, reverb and delay and then syntakt into OT. I then sample and manipulate sounds on the OT. Like you in sequence fro the OT and thought initially that I’d use the ST only to offload the percussion. Thanks for sharing , will play with my controller and try a four track and modular jam 😀😀
Thanks for the great video. Was waiting for this kind of comparison. It is amazing that the OT is still King. I wonder why Elektron leftout these quantization features on the other machines.
Thanks for the video. I’m playing and slowly getting used to elektron-style sequencers, but my Keystep Pro still has functions that I can’t miss like the HOLD button, ARP copy to sequence, infinite scales, 3 MIDI ports plus 4 modular sync, voct and gate connections.
I’ve sort of hit my head against this wall when working with the Octatrack and Digitone: with Octatrack doing some sequencing but wanting to be able to perform or input more notes on the Digitone live. Wouldn’t say I’ve perfected it but something I found very helpful was a MIDI controller with quantisation there - making up for the way the Digi boxes handle these things and knowing I’ll be in key.
Hi frederico, sounds really good! Inwas wondering if you tried it with the T-1 or the Oxi to sequence the Syntakt? I guess it could solve your quantizing issue.
This is great. Electron should definitely add those features to all the takt boxes. I’d love to see a follow up video where you use the same small setup but connect the performer as an external synth too :)
Very interesting setup and Thanks for the great videos! Btw, on an unrelated note, can I ask you what filter do you apply to your videos? I like how the colors on your videos look less saturated and modern :)
I've been looking for a suitable controller for syntakt for a long time. this one looks really chic and has enough knobs for you to control. i think i will try it. do you happen to get a discount code for us? your videos are always very inspiring. can we see and hear you live in Berlin?
cool video again! short question: how did you connect the k-board to the syntakt? and also the midi controller? both should go in the midi in port (and k-board is usb midi?)
@@tendingtropic7778 Hi, sorry to butt in but I have used the Kenton USB Host mk2 with a passive USB hub to get 4 MIDI controllers working! I have used powered USB hubs as well for more power-hungry gadgets, but had no problems with low powered controllers just getting power from the Kenton. It looks like there's a Mk3 Kenton box too, which might be better. Hope this helps :)

it would be GAMECHANGER
Absolutely!
The sound between the PerFOURmer and the Syntakt is striking!
Yes, the perfourmer is made just for that and is gorgeous!
very inspiring, thank you for your way of making music
Thanks for listening
Wonderful video! You create some lovely arps in your videos, especially in this one. I'll be adding the Syntakt to my setup soon.
Thanks!!
For me the lack of arpeggiator is solved entirely + then some with the Arturia Keystep's super-capable arp.
Very musical! That’s always good.
thanks!

I actually hooked the octatrack to the Syntakt and is easy to use it as sequencer and sample player, that might be the evolution of the setup!

Yes was not the first time someone asked so I decided to try it , with great results!
4 versatile voices, Elektron sequencer, arpeggiator... How come the Digitone hasn't stolen your heart already? :)
I am not familiar with FM...

You’d do amazing things with it. Check out Substan’s Digitone tracks.
Sheesh, the Syntakt sounds great, but then you play the vermona and it's night and day. The vermona hardware is priceless.

I have to agree
nothing can replace the vermona 🌞
Very tempted to return my Syntakt within the window Thomann has offered. And buy a Vermona instead

Good question!
Complimenti x il video, veramente istruttivo e completo, peccato che non ho il tuo setup però i tuoi video mi fanno venire una voglia 😅😅😅

I just tried to sequence the ST with the OT, its great. Id love the ST to have the same sequencing capability..
The intro sure sounded amazing! ☺️
Thanks!

yes I did , but was hoping to minimize the things to have!
Hi, Does the new firmware update on Syntakt with scale mode give the quantized note solution you need for your workflow?
Sadly it doesn't seem so

I missed the name of the MIDI used for merging MIDI signal...san someone help?
