2 things - The windscreen is adjustable, if you suffer from buffeting it is set at higher side, lower it then you wont feel more and please wear earplugs on highways - The shifts are notchy, Yes. I think it needs a slipper clutch more than quickshifter. I found the clutch-less upshifts smother than downshifts which are very notchy in mine especially when downshifting quickly
my roomate sold me his 2011 ninja 650 as my first bike. It has been great and still love it. We take rides up into the hills and mountains near by and i can keep up with his gsxr 600 as long as its not a fast straight and he gets into the high end. One thing I dont think you mentioned is the bike has a strong feel to downshifting which i love coming from driving trucks and other manual cars. I rarely have to use the brakes except when coming to a full stop.
Nice video. I bought a brand new 2012 650 as my first bike and it does make a great learner bike, that's for sure. I was about 45 minutes in to my first ride on it which convinced me a 300cc would not have been the right choice for me. Pretty much everything you said about the bike in your video is spot on. The only thing I'd add is the suspension is kind of crap. It's great for the road, but for more spirited riding it's not the best. At the 650's price point you're not going to get a great suspension though. That's what happens when a manufacturer tries to keep the price of the bike low. I will say this about the suspension, even though it's not so great, it is predictable. When your pushing the bike to the limits the bike starts to slide in a very predictable manner making it easy to recover. Another think I like about the bike is it is slow. In full tuck I've only managed to get 127mph out of it according to my GPS. At the track 600s kick my butt all day on the throttle. If I want to play I need to lean other skills to make me fast like braking and turning. To me, the skills like braking, turning, body position, picking your line, setting up a pass, etc., are more important than learning how to go fast in a straight line. The 650 is a good for learning those things. The 650's brakes were just ok, butswapping out the stock brake pads for a good set of EBC high heat pads and replacing the brake fluid with a good racing fluid and the brakes on this bike are fantastic. The only other observation I have about this bike is tire life. Because the engine has so much torque, and I engine brake hard while down shifting, I go through rear tires really fast. A Dunlop Q3, for instance, only lasts me about 2500 miles whereas on my 600 that tire lasts 2-3 times as long. On my 600 I got 12,000 miles out of an S21. So this bike will eat tires if you are a little more spirited with your riding. Just curious, how often do you shift i to 7th gear in this bike? Without that gear shift indicator I keep thinking there ought to be another gear.
A Bike and Its Boy First off I love your channel name. Ha i often find myself in 6th looking for that 7th gear that I will never have. So far this bike has been awesome. What do you think about the zx10? Thinking about moving up come spring
I really like the ZX10R. I sat on a 2017 with no fluids in it and was shocked at how light it was. The 650, even thought it's flickable, it's heavy. I could have easily bought a ZX10R but it was more fun drooling over it. Instead, I ended up buying a ZX6R for a couple reasons. First, I really want to improve my riding skills. My ZX6R doesn't have the electronics that the ZX10R has. I've got no ABS, no traction control, no wheelie control, no power modes, nothing. To get good on the ZX6R I have to work actually learn my riding skills. The other thing that made me want to go with a 600cc was a friend of mine. This guy is one of the "aliens" at track days. He rode an old ZX6R and is one of the smoothest and fastest guys on the track. (He's also a riding instructor and has given me a lot of great advice pretty much from the day I started riding.) I should also note that my ZX6R is also set up as a racing bike, it has about $7,500 in racing bits on it. This guy took it out on track and after a session on it he told me that it would take a long time outgrow this bike. I'm pretty confident I made the right decision with the ZX6R. The 1000cc bikes have great top end and accelerate faster that the 600's, obviously. But the guys who ride them all say the same thing, they're harder to turn than a 600. Given on how I plan on using this bike, I think the 600cc was the right choice for me. Will I get a 1000cc some day? Probably. If you ride sportbikes I think it's required by law or something that we all have to own or have once owned a 1000cc one day. A couple other things. The step from the 650 to the 600 was easy from a power prospective. What was really different was the riding position. You go from the very upright position with wide bars to a much more aggressive position with narrow clip-ons. At first I was like, "How do people turn these things?" It didn't take too long to get used to it. Now I find the 600 more comfortable than the 650. (And this is coming from someone who has had 2 spinal surgeries and a knee reconstruction after being wiped out on my bicycle by a car.) Anyway, that's my $0.02. Coming from a track prospective and how I want to grow, the 600 made sense. I should also tell mention that I did ride a BMW S1000RR before getting the ZX6R and that was one fun bike. I was very comfortable on it and thought I could have a lot of fun with a bike like that. Given that you seem to make smart decisions while riding you should have no trouble with a 1000 should you want one. Peace bro, and stay safe out there!!!
Levi Moffatt - The 650 is a pretty comfy bike. The riding position is pretty upright. I've ridden 1050 miles on it in a day with no problem at all and then gone out the next day and ridden another 600+. My only grip is where the pegs are put my bum knee in an awkward position and it can start to ache a little bit after 8-9 hours on the bike. Some might disagree with this, but I'm actually more comfortable on the ZX6R then I am on the 650. The more aggressive riding position just feels more comfortable to me.
As I watched you ride, I realized you just rode my drive home from school. In fact, you were just about to turn into my neighborhood at the end of the vid. I’ll keep an eye out for you!
I have a 2007 Kawasaki 650R Ninja. It is mint with 2,300 miles. I prefer the stock exhaust. The bike runs better with the stock exhaust despite what aftermarket companies say.
Hey Anil! Appreciate the comment very much. Great to hear that you liked the video. I hope i can continue to make content that you and others enjoy watching in the future. I continue to develop myself, my riding style, and my camera techniques and will keep striving to be better.
thanks for the review! Im a total beginner and my ultimative goal is to have zx-6r someday. however I want to learn how to ride first and planned to start on a r3 and switch to the 600 after 1-2 years. now I am seriously considering just to start on the ninja 650 right off the bat, cause I heard that so many people get bored so quickly on their 300. on the ninja 650 I might also expand the time when I upgrade to the 600. quite a tough decision :)
I agree omegapsi847. Just take a look at craigslist or any other online marketplace. They are flooded with 250s and 300s. Those bikes are great dont get me wrong but leave a little lacking in the power department. The newer 650 bikes offer a bunch of low end torque and enough power to cruise at 100 on the hwy. if you are looking for other 650 options check out the kawasaki z650 and suzuki sv650. They are both popular naked bikes. I hope you can buy a bike soon and join the two wheeled life!
R3 is an excellent starter bike for a complete beginner then after a few years when you've perfected your riding skills you can upgrade(if you really want to) but the ZX-6R is very very costly to insure so you better have a good job if that's the bike you choose-the ninja650 would be a better choice-plenty of power and way cheaper to insure.
@@mntwofiveohh3787 came out to $6,4XX after taxes, tags, and all the fees. Considering it was brand new in the crate for the abs model, I thought it was a good deal.
For a highway cruising, Ninja 650 is surely great especially upgrading from Ninja 250/300. However, if you are a commuter through city traffic like me, I would seriously consider Ninja 400 as well.
You should definitely record some death-defying videos… Jumping your Ninja over a barrel of fire… Or jumping over a river gorge… Things like that. We are all watching!
I BOUGHT THE 650CC OFF THE SHOW-CASE IN CEBU CITY PHILIPPINES. IN 3-YRS I BARELY PUT 4000-KMS ON THE ENGINE. IT MANUEVERS GREAT AT SLOW OR FAST SPEEDS. TRAFFIC HERE IS EXTREMLY DANGEROUS. I ACCIDENTLY DONE WHEELIES JUST CHANGING GEARS 1-3
Hey Great video! I am going to be picking up one of these later on this year. Nice to see someone from Minnesota doing videos, I live in Eden Prairie and have been to Simply Streetbikes, checking out their inventory and whatnot. My only complaint, this stupid long ass winters we have here, we need a longer summer so we can ride more! Keep up the great vids!
I like your video, I felt as if the music was abit to high, however I still enjoyed it... I wish the 650’s had gear indicated ... i still love em tho and congrats on your purchase !
Mntwofiveohh 2013 ninja 650, when I bought it it only had 4K miles and I’ve only put 500 miles on it since I got it in sept. It was for sale at 4,7k however I talked them down to 5k after taxes and fees it was a great deal.. glad I waited... ya I look forward to seeing more of your content... I just subscribed.
@@mntwofiveohh3787 i bought the bike from a coworker, ill probably end up riding mostly the roads near to my house because they are nice curvy back roads, i live in north part of anoka county.
Great video my dude. I have a 650R 2007 Ninja I love it. I grew up in Minneapolis, New Hope (: How do you record your voice so cleanly? Mic. Inside the helmet? Link me?
Well right now i just updated my moto vlog rig to a go pro hero 8 with the media mod. The mic i use is just a generic lapel mic from amazon into the media mod. Other than that i just lower the levels in post production to avoid excessive noise. Other people recommend the purple panda mic that can be found on amazon.
the bike wanted to get but end up getting the ninja 400 brand new and have not ridden it much if at all for the COVID-19 outbreak have yet to have it out for the 2020 riding season because of the lock down and/or everybody closed because of the COVID-19 virus hoping that maybe next year
I have an 09 ninja 650r was wondering if they had improved on the newer models. From the looks of it you have the same pros and cons as I do. Been riding for a about a year and looking take it to the track soon and learn even more! Although the 650r doesn't square up to the supersport 600's or liter bikes it is a happy medium and fun in the corners!
Edgar Palacios they made some changes in the body i believe. Mine has a two piece seat which is nice, different dash and maybe a little more power from a retuned ecu. Not sure on that last part though. Its been a great all around bike. To be honest i dont spend most of my time breaking speed limits anyways so im more than happy with the great acceleration that the 650 offers.
The newer one (2017+) had significant changes. 40 pounds weight loss and some more torque at the cost of a little bit less top end with a completely new design inspired by the zx10r. Dunno if its worth upgrading for, but it definitely is a good improvement for a commuter / city bike.
I literally just did that same thing yesterday i got a 2011 650R and i forgot to park it in first on a little down walk and it just fell over and broke my mirror and replaced it the same day😂i love bikes
That sounds like a pretty sweet deal! Have you got a chance to ride it yet? I just picked up a new bike last week.. havent made a video on it yet but its a 2020 zh2
@@mntwofiveohh3787 oh hell yea this zh2's are awesome! And yea I have the bike now and its not bad all! I've had other bikes but yea this one is all torque on the low end. Just had it completely changed over and all fluids changed. Just bought frame and swing arm sliders, replaced the screen today to a double bubble. Picked up a carbon sedici strada 2 helmet yesterday and tomorrow ill be picking up some type of Bluetooth headset for it and a different pair of gloves and jacket
How was the adjustment from the 250 to the 650 as a new rider? I have a Ninja 250 (love it) and the Ninja 650 is on my short list of next bikes. I'm not concerned about the big bump in power, but the jump in size/weight looks like it could be a little tricky to adapt to.
It’s definitely a larger bike but the power is so manageable! It is very hard to get yourself to power wheelie. You would have to throttle it real hard in 1st. After a few rides you would get down the feel no problem. I say do it!
Off topic: I'm loving those sidewalks. Can people ride bicycles on them since you don't have dedicated bike lanes? Is this in Canada? On topic: This is the model I'm looking at getting for my first bike. I live 20 minutes from Yellowstone and want to do some riding through the parks next summer. Park speeds are 35-45mph, perfect training grounds. Thanks for this video.
Ha. No it is in Minnesota. But yes people can ride bikes on them. I loved my 650. I just upgraded to a Kawasaki z1000. I’d love to ride through yellow stone.
i bought my ninja 300 4.5 months ago and plan on getting a zx6r maybe a year from now depends on how the prices are looking. I found one now for $9,000 new, 2017 too. Not sure if im ready for a 600 yet though.
I bought a ZX6R and it took a little getting use to coming from a 650. Mainly the riding position. Since the 300 has a bit more aggressive riding position that shouldn't be a huge deal. When you actually learn the skills you need to properly handle a 300, the 600 shouldn't be too intimidating. Get out there and do a couple riding school trackdays where you have professional instructors and get the basics down. Once you've kinda mastered the 300 then look to a 600. (Depending on what you want the bike for.) Regardless, 3-4 trackdays with a reputable riding school will be money well spent ... trust me.
Bought the Ninja 2019 650 brand new and already bored of it after month. Put 200 miles on it took it on the highway a few times and it jus horrible the wind will take you for a ride on this bike .
I never really had that problem. The older ones were a little heVier but mot much. My z1000 sucks in the wind because no wind shield. I am sorry ypu had a negative experience
Mntwofiveohh how bout ur temperature gauge does it goes beyond the half point often? Jus want to know if this is normal ....I’ll be one bar away from complete hot
How long have you been riding man? I have a 2017 Chevy Silverado and I need a second vehicle better on gas. I had a 2016 Harley 883cc iron sportster for 6 months and i got hit and it was totaled. So I have 6 months experience. I catch on to things fast and have driven tons of vehicles all over the country. Do you think this bike is a good fit for me? I’m looking at the 2018 model thanks man!
Just over a year so not super long. I think that it is a great bike for any level. You will probably get similar acceleration as with the harley. Much lighter and more nimble bike though.
Hey man I’ve been looking at 600cc but decided a 650 would be better suited I’ve found a lot of sv650s for sale as well as a fz6. I also have seen a lot of ninja 650s for sale. The one that stands out the most is a 2015 ninja 650 for 2800 dollars. That seems low to me? The guy says he has never dropped it and bought it new in 2016 clean title. Is that a normal price? 4,600 mileage. My co worker is a mechanic so I’m gonna have him come look at it. Just wanted to get your opinion dude. Thanks
Thats a pretty great deal. Its so new that i wouldnt be too concerned with mechanical problems. Before you buy you will want to test ride the bike and make sure everything feels straight. Sometimes people just get sick of riding and sell for very cheep. Good luck on your purchase! Let me know what happens
@@mntwofiveohh3787 thanks I am having a KTM 390 Adventure with me, the problem is I cant drive at low speed, engine heats up very fast.So thinking of going for a used Kawasaki 650 😁.
Bro! Help please. Noob here, JUST bought my bike. Well the dealership started my bike just fine to load it onto the trailer. Got it home. Wont start. Idk what I’m doing wrong.
What kind of bike is it and what year. Some bikes require the kickstand to be up and the clutch pulled in. Check obvious stuff like making sure key is on and kill switch is on. After those simple things start with the battery. Us a volt meter should read like 12-13 I think. After that could be a number of things from kickstand sensor to whatever else
I will definitely try to see if i can get my hands on one so i can review it. From research ive done i think the difference is mostly cosmetic with some changes in the frame and suspension. Drivetrain remains practically the same.
The er6n was the predecessor to the z650 from what i can tell. The z has a number of differences such as a lighter swing arm, centrally mounted rear suspension and different head light design. They maintain similar riding positions and outputs. My newest bike, the z1000 has many of the same aspects but with a much more powerful 4 cylinder engine. Of course these naked bikes sport a more peppy low to mid range compared to their super sport brothers. My 650 from a stop had more more power than a 600 but fizzled out quickly.
Mntwofiveohh no I did not, this quote was for a 2018 brand new gsxr750. I think if I try an older version it will be significantly cheaper but I'm not finding any used close to me (maryland) I refuse to settle for the 650, wish me luck lol I'll find something....good vid btw!
Hey Man, Stu from Bemidji, MN. I love your vid's. A few years back, I use to go down to Minneapolis and ride with some of my friends. They all rode Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R's. I'm looking at getting either a Honda CBR650F, Kawasaki Ninja 650 or Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R. Where do you do alot of your riding? Simply Street Bikes is a great website. I check them out, from time to time. I can't wait until next summer. Take care bud.
+Stu Charles Hey! Thanks for the comment man. A lot of my riding is around the minneapolis/ maple grove area. Planning to take her down to the st.croix river valley one of these weekend. I think my next bike will probably be a kawasaki z-1000 naked bike. In kawi green of course. As always ride safe and keep the rubber side down.
Mntwofiveohh I'd get the z900, especially if you want to buy new. I've read that they are superior to the 1000 in across the board. And they're discontinuing the 1000 for next year. Of course it's all subject to opinion anyway.
Ben Gjerde i think that is a great idea! Hopefully i can find one that i like. I just want a little more too end speed out of a bike. Though my ninja is quick.
Very similar bikes in terms of being pretty darn reliable and comfy. The cbr is slightly more aggressive in terms of riding styles. The 650 will give you more punch though. Im a kawasaki guy all the way so id choose that. I had my 650 and now my z1000.
Get the 650, it's a great bike. CBR500r engine is less powerful than 650. I've had a 2013 ninja 650R ABS for 3 years and still love it. Just got new matching tires and it handles great!
Hi. after about 1100 miles of riding my cbr250 i got bored of it and sold it so i could buy a bigger bike. If i can read that will i be able to ride this? im decing between a ninja 650 or a cbr500. thanks!
If i were you i would upgrade to the ninja 650 you will see a larger boost in power and features. You still wont quite keep up with the 600cc super sports but you could be happy for a long time with it. I just recently upgraded to a kawi z1000 which was even a larger bump. What kind of riding do you do? Casual or are you a speed demon?
@@mntwofiveohh3787 Im starting to lean towards the 650 just because i think i'll have more fun with it and get bored of the 500 fairly qiickly. And since I was on a 250 I couldn't really speed too much but I'm more of a casual rider i'd say. Im 19 but I think i'm mature enough to not get into some trouble with it. I just like to drive around campus and commute to work with it
Is it private party or from a dealer. Id say from a dealer thats be fine. Private though id max around 3000. Buf at the end of the day its about if the bike feels right. Ive bought mine because they are just the right price. Paid a bit much at a dealer but ive loved them
Thank you. As ive progressed since making the vid ive started to only put music on my intros and outros. Ive been debating editing the video.. ive had that comment a few times now
Its a kawasaki. I have had a ninja 250, ninja 650, and a z1000. All have been very solid. The only one that had a problem was the 250 and it was 20 years old and needed a top end rebuild when i sold it
Sounds like a pretty good deal. I did a little research and you can get a 2017 for around 7000-7500. Ones the same year as mine are about 4500 and up. The 2008 had slightly different styling and a single piece seat but similar power and torque. Miles could also play a fair amount into pricing. How many does the one you are looking at have? Appreciate the comment sir. Cant wait for winter to end and to get back on two wheels.
Thanks for your reply i did subscribe, it has 19500 miles on it, thanks for the info,I can't wait to get on a bike after years and years of not riding.Although Im 44 Ive always wanted to get a street bike, finally gonna do it, cant wait!It will be a first riding in traffic as opposed to the country riding i used to do, i feel your never too old to live your dream!
Devon pilot that doesnt sound like too bad of a deal. The only concern i would have is did he do all the maintenance. Maybe get him down another couple hundred bucks for good measure.
@@mntwofiveohh3787 agreed. This will be my first bike, is there anything I should look out for before handing over the cash? I dont know much at all about the mechanics of a bike
The first thing to do is obviously look for any damage, do a visual inspection of the chain ( looking for rust or lots of slack). This will help gauge how well its been taken care of. Next ask him to leave the bike cold for an hour before showing up. Start the bike up in neutral and listen for any loud grinding or ticking. The 650s are pretty quiet so just listen for hard startup and other noises. Let the bike warm up till you hear the fan kick in. Lastly its time for a ride. If you can take it out and get it up to normal street speed thats ideal. Test the breaks.. should be smooth and consistent with no pulsing. Check that the steering feels smooth and even. If it all checks out it should be a good deal. And hopefully you will be riding home with a big smile on your face. Ha this comment just gave me a good idea for a video to make. Thanks man!
I would say no as long as it has been well maintained. If you dont know how to inspect a bike i would see if a shop can look at it before you purchase. A well running bike should run smooth without too much ticking. The 650s can vibrate a bit due to being an inline twin engine so dont let that throw you off unless it is violent.
Holy crap $5700 with 11k miles??? I just bought a 2019 Ninja 650 ABS (Orange & Black) brand new with 1 mile Aug 6th 2019 and I got em down to $6800 plus tax. Granted Kawasaki was offering $1000 off, but the dealer took off $200 more and waved the prep and freight charges of $240. I was playing hardball though and didnt seem to anxious about buying. I visited the showroom 3 times before I bought one. I did spend another $550 on the 4 year warranty, this is on top of the 1 yr it comes with. I really love this bike though as a first motorcycle, anything smaller you'll get bored as stated in the video.
You went to the dealer to buy a used bike, and got charged too much! Next time, buy off of Craigslist and save money! Put some frame sliders on it (just in case)
I agree. The dealerships are in it to make money. I bought a used '99 Honda CBR600F4 with 5K miles and paid $5000 for it. The bike was in perfect condition and had some nice upgrades as well. I thought that was a good deal.
No problem. I havent found any but i did see that walterific found some. I believe kawasaki shares mirrors between models so you might be able to use ones meant forr the ninja 300/ zx6.
I clean and lube my chain every 2 weeks or so. Oil change really depends on how much you ride. At the very least every 2000-3000 miles. And for sure after the riding season is over
Do you think $2,500 is too much for an 2008 650r? It has about 13k miles. I went to go look/ride it and everything was great other than some road rash on one side. Pics: imgur.com/a/ganzJx5
Because it was a bike with a carburetor that can be tricky if you dont know how to work on and fix them. The nice thing about new bikes is fuel injection
Its funny cause I just got a 2016 ninja 650 abs and the bike also had some light scrapes and a few scratches and the salesman told me the exact same thing. That the previous owner was too short and dropped it in his garage. What a coincidence. I think these salesman are full of shit. My salesman probably saw your video and told me the same thing. Its my first bike anyways but I still love this bike right now. It only has 2,700 miles on it and it is still just about brand new.
i got an doubt in this bike..cause it 650cc and $10,271 but still it achieve a speed of 215KMPH...but Ktm Rc 390 its $44520 achieves the speed of 177Kmph..i should give extra $5000 approx for an extra speed of 48KMPH...can any one say why ninja 650 is soo costlier.
dang man 5700 11k miles ouch i bought my 2015 ninja 650 in march 2016 brand new 7k out the door currently have around 7k miles i agree with the gear thing not knowing lol i do have an issue with shifting into 2nd gear a lot ill hit neutral its not slow my any means either although on my Saab video they crap on it a lot ruclips.net/video/E899U61AfRc/видео.html
Thanks for the comment. After checking out a pic i took of it on the sales rome floor i paid 5777 for the bike itself. A lil high i think. How are you liking yours so far?
hey man i know i'm late to the game but when i first got my Ninja 650 i shifted into neutral alot, something i found that helped me stop doing this is by shifting with a bit more purpose and keeping your foot raised against the shift leaver until you let out the clutch, this ill stop the bike from slipping back out of gear as you throttle back on. hope it helps.
yeah its weird ill hold the clutch and shift yet it still hits neutral maybe sometimes im trying to go to fast , i had an r6 for awhile and it had the gp shifting which is reversed 1 up for first and 5 down and that seemed so much easier
You know, if you thought about talking points ahead of time, you wouldn't be rummaging for words and sound like you hit your head one too many times. You might also see more than 200 subs.
Decent review. Have subscribed to your channel. Please do check my channel. I ride a Royal Enfield 500 and am thinking of upgrading to a Ninja 650. Keep vloging 🍻
Don't blame that truck in the intersection he couldn't hear you LOL. I have to have a manly sounding bike, when I was driving 18-wheelers i almost killed somebody because I couldn't hear them on his flutter girly motorcycle.
2 things

$5,700 for a bike with 11k miles? You got ripped off, dude!!!
Hearing that part hurt me lol
i paid 3300$ for mine its a 2010 but only had 5miles on it!
Oh wow! Hows it been riding? Though about making your own channel?
I got a 2009 ninja 650r last month for 2400 with 4k miles
Poppol 3300 dollar? Damn... The only 650’s I can find in the Netherlands are at least 6900€
5:27 you handled that well.
Defensive riding is the key ✌️
my roomate sold me his 2011 ninja 650 as my first bike. It has been great and still love it. We take rides up into the hills and mountains near by and i can keep up with his gsxr 600 as long as its not a fast straight and he gets into the high end.

(And this is coming from someone who has had 2 spinal surgeries and a knee reconstruction after being wiped out on my bicycle by a car.)
Anyway, that's my $0.02.
A Bike and Its Boy hey mate just curious how comfortable would be on long distance rides
It is not too bad. The nice thing about the 650 is the upright riding position. The seat is pretty comfortable, and the bars are positioned nicely.
Thanks man.. i am planning to get it as my first bike next week.. and this video made me more comfort about taking that decision
Happy i could be of some help. Ha

William Thompson i love that it is quiet. I might pick up a zx10r once this bike is paid off. They are screemers though.
Great review, great audio & music, perfectly composed riding and not riding like a lunatic! Thanks!
Grabbing 2018 one, saving up for it now can’t wait
I have a 2016 650. I love it great bike.

I'm so glad you did this video, I'm looking to buy one of these next year to replace my 250.
For a highway cruising, Ninja 650 is surely great especially upgrading from Ninja 250/300. However, if you are a commuter through city traffic like me, I would seriously consider Ninja 400 as well.
I have inheritance coming and I will be buying the new 2023 and I can't wait just being patient.
You should definitely record some death-defying videos… Jumping your Ninja over a barrel of fire… Or jumping over a river gorge… Things like that. We are all watching!

Keep up the great vids!
tia ria yeah me too! I might buy a 2018 they are so cheap I’ll just pay cash great way to save money from my 2017 Silverado that gets 8 mpg haha.
Awesome bike. I have a 2013 650 ninja. Very practical bike. Safe riding 🏍
Thank you! I love mine. Perfect for everything i need.
I like your video, I felt as if the music was abit to high, however I still enjoyed it... I wish the 650’s had gear indicated ... i still love em tho and congrats on your purchase !
Thank you very much. I continue to try and improve on my video and audio editing. What kind of bike do you have?
Mntwofiveohh 2013 ninja 650, when I bought it it only had 4K miles and I’ve only put 500 miles on it since I got it in sept.
Prior to my new rig i used a go pro hero 5 session into their mic adapter using the same generic mic. I love vlogging
the bike wanted to get but end up getting the ninja 400 brand new and have not ridden it much if at all for the COVID-19 outbreak have yet to have it out for the 2020 riding season because of the lock down and/or everybody closed because of the COVID-19 virus hoping that maybe next year
In illinois / WI Area you can get a 2018 for like 5k lmao with less than 1k miles. Or you can get something in the 2014-2016 rang for about $4500
Ya i got kinda screwed on price. One of the down sides of a dealer i guess. I still love my dealership though. What you ride brother?
@@mntwofiveohh3787 an 2018 650, but the real end goal is a post 2012 ZX-14r
I love the candy green zx-14s. Im in a z1000 right now but in about two years i think i will be thinking of finding a h2
Great video (y) and congrats on your new bike.
Muhammed Roshan thank you. Hope i can make some stuff you enjoy watching in the future.
With some luck ill be getting this bike in a few weeks as my first bike
zac gibb thats awesome. I just upgraded to a z1000 from this but i miss it. Are you going to start a channel?

Thinking of getting one these as my first bike
What year were you thinkinng?
Mntwofiveohh

Not sure if im ready for a 600 yet though.
dMarius152 I've only really rode dirt bikes.... But I'ma jump to a 650r soon... Hopefully
dMarius152 a 600/650 could be a starter bike if you don't gun it every time
I bought a ZX6R and it took a little getting use to coming from a 650.

Why not get another sportster?
Mntwofiveohh the guy never responded I ended up getting a 2009 Suzuki SV650!

If you dont mind me asking, what did your payments come out to? I'm looking at buying the from the same place since I live in Blaine, MN
Like 130 a month with zero down and 5% interest
What are you thinking about picking up?
Okay thanks. And a newer ninja 650
Would really like to know how this compares to the naked version, the Z650. Good review and not full of a lot of hipster talk.
I will definitely try to see if i can get my hands on one so i can review it. From research ive done i think the difference is mostly cosmetic with some changes in the frame and suspension. Drivetrain remains practically the same.
I thought Kawasaki ER6N is the naked version of Ninja 650
The er6n was the predecessor to the z650 from what i can tell. The z has a number of differences such as a lighter swing arm, centrally mounted rear suspension and different head light design. They maintain similar riding positions and outputs. My newest bike, the z1000 has many of the same aspects but with a much more powerful 4 cylinder engine. Of course these naked bikes sport a more peppy low to mid range compared to their super sport brothers. My 650 from a stop had more more power than a 600 but fizzled out quickly.

Hey, I am confused choosing between Ninja 650 and CBR500r, which one would you suggest for commuting.

Thanks for your reply i did subscribe, it has 19500 miles on it, thanks for the info,I can't wait to get on a bike after years and years of not riding.Although Im 44 Ive always wanted to get a street bike, finally gonna do it, cant wait!It will be a first riding in traffic as opposed to the country riding i used to do, i feel your never too old to live your dream!
Thank you! The 650 is a great bike and those miles arent too high. Id get it if i were you. You should start a channel!
Thanks!
A buddy of mine is selling me a 2015 ninja 650r for 3800 with 18k miles. Good deal or bad one?
Thanks man!
@@mntwofiveohh3787 no, thank you! Il be looking forward to watching that video!
I’m planning on getting one in about 2 months
What year are you planning on?
I honestly don’t know I was think about a newer one 18-19 but insurance places won’t really give me quote I’m also 23
I paid 1k for a ninja 650 with 70k miles idk how imma keep this gramps alive but ill try
I’m looking at a 2013 ninja 650 it has 22,000 miles on it.. should I be scared about the miles! Im in Minnesota!
You can buy 650s cheap I would get a newer one with only a couple thousand
I agree. Mine had maybe too many miles for the price. Miles arent too bad though if its well taken car of.
great video!!
5700?? 11k miles? They are selling a brand new left over 2016 here. In Texas for 5500...
Pretty great deal it sounds like. Jump right on that. I over paid im sure.
That may not include tax and title charges, which is easily an additional few hundred dollars.
Ha i do forget about that part.
@@TheEmpoleon123456789 yea it was 6 otd... But thats amazing for a brand new ninja 650
Nice video! thanks!
Thanks for the comment!
Hey. Great bike.
A fan of kawasaki.
Can you please tell me the mileage of your bike?
What about vibrations?
While vibration is present it is definitely manageable. The seat, and driver pegs are all rubber mounted to reduce vibration.
I thought that was a good deal.
is it possible to install bar end mirrors on this bike ?
Of course. you just have to take off the factory bar end by un doing the screw and slide on the new “bar end mirror
yea but are there any blanking plates available for the mirrors ? cause i can't find any online !
thanks for the fast response btw !
No problem. I havent found any but i did see that walterific found some. I believe kawasaki shares mirrors between models so you might be able to use ones meant forr the ninja 300/ zx6.
In the process of buying a 2017 Ninja 650 right now. How often do you find yourself changing the oil, putting oil on the chain, etc?
I clean and lube my chain every 2 weeks or so. Oil change really depends on how much you ride. At the very least every 2000-3000 miles. And for sure after the riding season is over
Hey man. You sold me on a 650.
Awesome! Got a specific one picked out yet? I recommend kawi green.
Mntwofiveohh I’m still looking for one but I’m hoping to get green.
it is easy to handle ? or it is too heavy
Very easy to handle. Maybe not as nimble as a super sport but for a street bike it leans right over
what was your monthy pay? cuz i am thinking on buying a 2017 ninja 650 but i dont know what the monthly pay is
+Irma Gutierrez my 2015 was 5600 which shakes out to about 130 a month for me
+Irma Gutierrez that is with a 5 year loan. You could probably get a 2017 for just a little bit more with a longer loan term
Irma Gutierrez idk if i already reaponded but i pay 130 a month for my 2015 ninja 650. The cash price was like 5600.
Do you think $2,500 is too much for an 2008 650r? It has about 13k miles. I went to go look/ride it and everything was great other than some road rash on one side. Pics: imgur.com/a/ganzJx5
Haha I'm about to pick up a bike from the same place! Now I'm really buying from SSB
Ha i just picked up another bike from there. I just bought a 2013 z1000. Just posted a vid. Check it out.
It’s really missing the sound and sound is most of the sale
This bike only does 127mph?????????
Yup! The ninja 650 does not have a high top speed like the zx6. Thats what makes it a good starter bike
@@mntwofiveohh3787 yeah I was looking at one. My second choice ( now my first) is a 2000 zx9r
The zx9 is a pretty great bike. My brother had one. His was a junker but it was quick for sure
@@mntwofiveohh3787 did he have many problems with it? Coinciding it’s condition..
Because it was a bike with a carburetor that can be tricky if you dont know how to work on and fix them. The nice thing about new bikes is fuel injection
When did you buy the bike? I'm looking at one for myself.
Cameron Augusta i got it last April from simply street bikes in mn
Does this bike have abs?
Mine did not. It was offered with it though
I think every rider has had that happen to them at some point. Ha it sucks but we learn.
Mntwofiveohh your damn right I learned a lot from buying this first bike. Next time ill be more than ready for their lying asses.
Make you bike loud for safety bud!
I hear if i switch out that giant muffle i have i could cut some significant weight and get a better sound
People who have one of these: what are some of your actual fuel economy numbers?
My running average is about 46 even with running hard. Still a very fuel efficient bike
I recommend never buy used bikes people
This guy obviously has no idea how the dealership ripped him off 😂
i got an doubt in this bike..cause it 650cc and $10,271 but still it achieve a speed of 215KMPH...but Ktm Rc 390 its $44520 achieves the speed of 177Kmph..i should give extra $5000 approx for an extra speed of 48KMPH...can any one say why ninja 650 is soo costlier.
Music is annoying
dang man 5700 11k miles ouch i bought my 2015 ninja 650 in march 2016 brand new 7k out the door currently have around 7k miles i agree with the gear thing not knowing lol i do have an issue with shifting into 2nd gear a lot ill hit neutral its not slow my any means either although on my Saab video they crap on it a lot
ruclips.net/video/E899U61AfRc/видео.html
Thanks for the comment. After checking out a pic i took of it on the sales rome floor i paid 5777 for the bike itself. A lil high i think. How are you liking yours so far?
oh i love i started out on it
hey man i know i'm late to the game but when i first got my Ninja 650 i shifted into neutral alot, something i found that helped me stop doing this is by shifting with a bit more purpose and keeping your foot raised against the shift leaver until you let out the clutch, this ill stop the bike from slipping back out of gear as you throttle back on. hope it helps.
yeah its weird ill hold the clutch and shift yet it still hits neutral maybe sometimes im trying to go to fast , i had an r6 for awhile and it had the gp shifting which is reversed 1 up for first and 5 down and that seemed so much easier
Thank you very much on the comment. Very helpful advice.
You know, if you thought about talking points ahead of time, you wouldn't be rummaging for words and sound like you hit your head one too many times. You might also see more than 200 subs.
I appreciate the advice. Ill get working on it.
Id also like to think ive made some improvement since this vid. But always appreciate constructive criticism.
No problem and I meant no disrespect. Just offering advice, as a viewer.
Decent review. Have subscribed to your channel. Please do check my channel. I ride a Royal Enfield 500 and am thinking of upgrading to a Ninja 650. Keep vloging 🍻
more torque with 650 vs 600
I believe the 600 has around 47 ft/lbs which is slightly higher. The benefit pf the 650 is you get the torque at much lower revs.
Mntwofiveohh i think ur wrong
How so?
Don't blame that truck in the intersection he couldn't hear you LOL. I have to have a manly sounding bike, when I was driving 18-wheelers i almost killed somebody because I couldn't hear them on his flutter girly motorcycle.
Ha it is very quiet. My new z1000 is a bit louder. Still has stock cans on it. What is this manly bike you speak of?
@@mntwofiveohh3787 motorcycle should be seen, not heard
@@mntwofiveohh3787 cans, is that bikespeak? My bike has an exhaust system
