    My dream is to visit Germany one day, especially the east of the country; Dresden and Leipzig. Dresden's historic architecture seems to be restored after the city's destruction at the end of World War II. Amazing video. Thank you. Greetings from Toronto, Canada🇨🇦!

      Visited both last year, both beautiful cities but I definitely prefer Leipzig above Dresden. Leipzig has really large city vibes, very bustling and full of activity. Dresden feels a lot smaller and more touristic.

      Apart from the fact that RAF did this because Stalin had asked for this,
      Dresden was destroyed less than quite any other German town of its size.
      It was rather the Soviet occupation and its puppet regime to try to cancel its architectural history

    When I see this, I see how far behind Britain has fallen. Just look at this delight of a city: clean, modern and exquisitely restored, and beautiful. Everywhere you go in Germany you see progress and modernity. Everywhere in Britain you see stagnation and failure. When I see the country we are and what we could be, I despair.

      Because it was the capital of the kingdom of Saxony and the seat of the saxonian emperors who were also the leaders of the polish-Lithuanian commonwealth which was at a time the biggest country in Europe. Dresden has a century old history and the things you can see today is only a very small part of Dresdens former glory. I am sorry but Dresden and Miami are absolutely not comparable.

    • @Tobi-ln9xr
      @Tobi-ln9xr Год назад +2

      Dresden was even nicknamed "the most beautiful city in Europe“ and "the Florence on the Elbe“ even after it was destroyed by Prussia. But the British and American bombings and the socialist city planning of East Germany completely disfigured Dresden. It’s only a shadow of its former self.

      No, soviets let the old part of the city (altstadt) mainly unreconstructed. Although germans managed to get some monuments reconstructed during the soviet era, the reconstruction really began in the aftermath of the reunification, in the 90s, and is not finished yet.
      Dresden is only two hours from Berlin or Prague and is worth visiting.
      Dot not miss museums in altstadt, very especially the Grünes Gewölbe. Make a walk in the neustadt for the atmosphere (this is where people live and socialize) and the grafitis (usually ot a fan, but the quality is there). Have a breath in the swiss Saxony (look what it is like by googling Bastei), as Bad Shandau is only 30min from Dresde by train.

    The contrast between the old-world architecture and the modern world is astounding, one ugly lifeless and bland, the other the exact opposite I cannot put into words, except to say it's a shame we as people in this modern word should be ashamed that we haven't made the effort to equal our forefathers to pass on to the next generation a city of beauty rather than just a commercial eye saw.
