You sir get comment of the year! Really appreciate the support and feedback. I try to keep it authentic and make effort to edit in a way that is engaging but not overly "produced" like much of the commercialized content. If I "miss" on a video, let me know that too!
Hunted my favorite lake one day last week. Sounds a lot like the lake your hunting in that I usually see quiet a few mallards and such flying around along with our local wood ducks. Only saw 2 wood ducks and one hen bufflehead. She paid the price so at least I was not skunked. Been at the coast the last few days. Hoping this last front pushed some birds in here. Find out tomorrow morning.
I went back on the 1st to where I saw that group go down. I had 8 mallards come over, 2 peeled off and came in. I killed the hen and feathered the drake. Went to pick up the hen and she got right and flew off! I thought she was stone cold dead, didnt take the gun out there with me. Not doing a video on that hunt for a couple reason, but I had my chance at them for sure. Good luck!
Better than me. I went to a different lake in the piedmont and saw absolutely 0. Only heard 3 shots all morning and I don't think they were even on the lake. First time hunting this lake. I fish it a lot and see woodies in almost every backwater and most days a few mallards around. I'm not sure if they have left due to pressure or what. First time in a long time not seeing a bird. Plenty of cormorants, but not ducks. @@Yellowlab247_Outdoors
Gonna try hunting my local lakes for the first time this year, I’ve never seen a duck while I’m fishing other than some domestic white ones. But we got geese around so theres that. Might try the coast a few times because it looks promising.
I would concentrate efforts at the coast, wayyyy more opportunity. Lakes for us are very hit or miss and you might get one draw of birds. Coast is much more variety and opportunity
hunted jordan, sharron harris, eno river, falls lake, and mayo and have only killed 6 woodies on a beaver pond behind my house lol there's just not many birds around yet
I hate to hear that! You are putting in the time that is for sure. That should start to change a little in the next few weeks. Fingers crossed, good luck!
@@Yellowlab247_Outdoors I’ve hunted the lake we talked about through email 5-6 times this year and shot 3 on opening day in NOV and haven’t fired but one shot since then.
We have birds somewhere but man you have to put the time in to find them or spend more time at the coast. Tough hunting around here, especially since the hydrilla was killed off everywhere.
@@Yellowlab247_Outdoors we have a farm pond that would consistently have bufflehead and mergansers on it but they have not showed up this year also a beaver pond that we killed several limits of mallards over past 3 years but nothing at all this year we’re in the piedmont its just getting harder by the year but its all cyclical with the weather, an el niño year doesn’t help. I love your videos keep it up!
Your channel is becoming one of my favorites. Love the authentic content! Your editing is awesome too. Looking forward to many more videos on 2024!

I noticed you said you only needed 2 mallards in the video. I saw on the regulations that the mallard limit was upped to 4 this year.
You are right I totally forgot that!!
@@Yellowlab247_OutdoorsI was going to ask if you shot this video last year. 😂
