Wow, been waiting decades For a clip of this show on RUclips. I was at this show with a bunch of friends, we were all students about to graduate( maybe?) at the local art school there. Still hoping for more clips of DAMAD , friggn Spoet’s, GAM and other local bands that played Congress Street , Malones and Velvet Elvis. Good memories.
I heard Ian in an interview talk about a show in Texas (? maybe) where they played in a warehouse on a stage built on top of a car and the police/fire department tried to shut them down but they came to a compromise where they played inside the warehouse but the audience had to listen from the street. Ring a bell? Where can I find this video (if it exists)?
@@gives_bad_advice no, it’s a book about american indie bands from the 80s-90s. Every chapter is dedicated to one. There is one about the Minutemen, but also Black Flag, Minor Threat, Sonic Youth, Husker Dü, Fugazi and many more. It’s a great read
@@Raitor33 That's quite interesting. I do like the little-known incidents that make up a band's history. I guess I was thinking Minutemen because they have a line in on song that goes "my story could be your life" or something like that. Thanks for the tip.
This might be an acid induced memory, but pretty sure I saw a Church of the SubGenius gathering at this very same venue… maybe the same year as this show ! The 90’s mannn
the end where only canty is audible and the crowd keep on singing along to him is just fucking incredible
that's why I will be singing when they try to take our freedom and liberty way and we need to get Justice to let the music play!
That's why drums are the best - you can't silence it!
6:06 Guy, to the guy hanging upside down from the ceiling: "you, sir, are a gibbon"
Guy is one of the coolest people to ever do it.
i saw these guys in 1991, IM STILL LOVING THIS MUSIC as an old lady, Ian s voice is the BEST !!!!!! do not care 4 him w/ hair,,,,😐

Yeah, I read the same story but just as lazy to not go digging. Don't recall video though. Wouldn't be surprised if there's a tape out there though.
They talk about this in the Our Band Could Be Your Life book too. I don’t think there’s footage of it sadly.

Punk has always had real "Cult of personality " type icons. I bet these guys had the most devoted groupies in the biz.
Not Fugazis style to have groupies man, they aren't your typical rock band
@@MrE51917 Profile picture says it all
They were the irreproachable high priests. There were platonic groupies, all boys.
