On the one hand, completely pumped for you man! On the other, I’m deeply disturbed at how terribly inconsistent PSA can be, especially on high end cards. We pay top dollar for their grading and they are not great at grading 😂😂 they might be the worst of the big companies, lol
I agree. Should’ve been a 10 to start. I don’t know what the issue was in that first order, but nothing matched what I expected. First order I’ve had in my last 20+ where I felt that way
@@justinkittleson3295I have my own frustrations with PSA but you can’t blame entire company for having graders / employees who can’t do their jobs well. Unfortunately, when you have as many graders as PSA, some are going to be bad. Hopefully PSA will get a better handle on it as time goes by. 🤞
It’s a miracle the Barry Finest refractor got an 8, Not only with a print line but the fact that it’s off centered 90/10 on the front and back top to bottom. Also, I just sold the same Manning atomic refractor PSA 9, numbered to 50 also for $2000 on Ebay, so your value might be low for a 10, so there’s another bump lol. Thanks for the video!
@@TheRealDealMemorabilia thanks for the heads up! Nice sale. Didn’t know about the centering on the Barry, that is not a set I’m very familiar with. Thanks for the intel
What's the prevailing thought out there of grading companies (primarily PSA) cataloging serial numbered cards in their own internal databases and just giving a resubmitted card that same grade again? I think I've heard them say, somewhat on record, that they don't do that (and your video here would lend credence to that), but I still can't help but think it's a strong possibility. So, it could be very risky to resubmit those types of cards. But I'm glad it worked out for you here. Congrats!
Sorry you had to resub. Crazy how a card went from an 8 to a 10. Some collectors are way better than the "pros". Also think the raw grade is a scam most of the time comes back lower than the evaluation.
I always was worried with numbered cards that they may know that they’ve graded it before. This video shows that is definitely not true. Curious did you pay the premium for grading fee expecting to get the 10’s or paid for 9 and hope to get up charged? Great video!!
@@crod3826 I mention towards the end of the video (forgot earlier on), but you can send the labels back with your next order or I also think there is an email address you can send a photo to. This removes them from pop. I have a bunch I need to still send back but plan to with next order.
This is why I refuse to use PSA! They have never graded cards consistently. I get resale value, but pop reports are definitely WAY off because most never get removed! It’s just about the money for PSA.
But then again that’s the problem if you are spending money to have a company grade a card I would expect the card to be graded correctly the first time PSA is so inconsistent it hurts I have been collecting for over 40 years and have tried most grading companies and from my experiences PSA once put a 10 on everything and now you just have no idea what your going to get but people still think that PSA is king and does no wrong but they are fast to complain about any little thing another grading company does just makes no sense
Does cracking and resubmitting throw off pop reports? If cards are getting graded multiple times by multiple companies it can really skew population numbers.
@@gatormac2112 yeah I mention later on in the video, you can send back the old labels to the companies so they are removed. I will send in with my next order.
Awesome vid as always man. What is your gut on how the grades can be so different? I can understand 9 or 10 but 8 or 10 is a big jump. I wonder if sometimes these graders give cards they know are clean bad grades so they can buy them on their own. What do you think it is ?
I think specifically the 99 finest set shown can be confusing with the cutout (“deckled”) edges. The only reason I knew to resend is because I’ve graded over 50 from the set, and just have a really good gauge on condition for it now. As for the other two 9s that became 10s, I have no idea why they were 9s the first time around!
@@ayeitskq yeah I’ve gotten a 9 on my other copy and felt that that one was super accurate. But this “8” was nicer than the 9 so it gave me another nudge that the original order wasn’t graded accurately in my opinion.
@@carlsoncards i paid $150 for mine raw w/ coating from the original owner who ripped it 25 years ago and immediately top loaded it. Then i peeled it and there wasn’t a flaw to be found. In response to the people speaking on PSA, if any other grading company was trying to go through the millions of cards that PSA grades, they would have as many problems or more than PSA.. PSA is used because it has the highest resale value, plain & simple..
Very nice! They smoked me recently. I had been receiving 60-80% gem rates. Sent in 2 orders of 100 cards and got 30% gems! Really stinks because these are $50-70 cards as psa 10 so it doesn't make sense to crack and resub.
@@Nogame7_Cards yeah that makes it so tough. Nice point on the price-point because I totally agree. These all made sense, but there was other cards in that first order that I just couldn’t justify re-sending.
PSA is so wildly inconsistent and its very disappointing. All the money you spend on grading and you are resorting to breaking the case and resending is ridiculous. PSA needs better quality control standards.
