It held so much emotional validation seeing her get that award because as viewers we knew just how much Buffy had sacrificed to quietly protect her classmates for years while unselfishly never really expecting ( or getting ) anything in return. To see her finally unexpectedly get her due respect and proper acknowledgement from her peers was so satisfying because it was like OMG FINALLY !!! It was nice to see her peers weren't total blind idiots and HAD come to notice that Buffy had always been there to save the day. It wasn't an expensive or fancy award but was truly precious as it was obviously genuinely heartfelt in it's gratitude and meant a great deal to her which is why she was so furious when it got broke. Their public acknowledgement of Buffy as being their protector actually lead the way for that seasons finale with Buffy in a surprise twist organizing them to fight against the mayor and his vampire army on graduation day. Them knowing, believing and totally trusting Buffy is how she effectively rallied and lead them to prepare and fight .
The acting in the scene where she tells her mom everything is absolutely spot on. You can feel the emotion from both of them and it gets me every time.
@@kimmyb8276 The only other scene that I can think of that really shows Sarah's amazing acting is from season 1 when she finds out about the prophecy. Amazing acting job by her.
One of the best shows of my childhood. I don't know how the hell I got away with watching it, but I'm glad I did. Sure, It's a bit dated now, but if you want a slice of late 90's teen drama nostalgia, there's nothing better.
I think one of the most bad ass moments for Buffy was keeping it together to deal with her mom’s death. We lost my husbands mom in much the same way(he found her) and the shoes portrayal was heartbreakingly accurate. The quiet moment when she’s waiting for the ambulance, and when she tells Giles, and then later when she has to go and get Dawn at school. It’s one of the hardest things to deal with.
I found my mum and was even asked by 911 the same question Buffy was. I haven’t been able to watch that episode since. Funny thing is my mum got me watching Buffy. It started when I was in university and she had me watch it during summer reruns. My mum made me a Buffy fan.
That whole episode is just a master class in storytelling, and character acting. Its just one of the best episodes of television thats ever been made. Such an amazing realistic depiction of grief and loss.
Buffy sharing her power and not being the only slayer anymore should have been number 1. Also I think that the time where Buffy tells Tara’s family that if they want to take Tara against her will “they have to go through me” should have been on here.
This show is still so relatable and relevant and I never would’ve guessed that at six years old when I first started watching this ICONIC series. Best of all time. ❤
Think you missed one, the one where Buffy and the gang stand up for Tara because she's Family. I guess it's not there because it wasn't just her but the whole gang but still, should at least have been an honorable mention in my opinion

And honestly I really don't care what people have to say about Buffy being " feminist"( girl power was kind of the point) or" woke "it was a mythological fantasy show based on a modern spin of ancient folklore. I enjoyed the show and still do because I like good story telling and the actors made their roles come to life.

My mother always had this on in the mornings when she would brush my hair for school. One of the best memories of my childhood is when she would make the little “grr-argh” sound at the end of every episode & tickle my shoulders 🥹🖤
Buffy's speech from Bring On The Night is just incredible....after getting beaten bloody by the Ubervamp in Season 7....the gang actually question if Buffy has it in her to win this battle to which point she enters the room sets them all straight with a stunning speech... Buffy...... "I'm beyond tired. I'm beyond scared. I'm standing on the mouth of hell and it is gonna swallow me whole. And it'll choke on me. We're not ready? They're not ready. They think we're gonna wait for the end to come, like we always do. I'm done waiting. They want an apocalypse? Well, we'll give 'em one. Anyone else who wants to run, do it now, 'cause we just became an army. We just declared war. From now on we won't just face our worst fears, we will seek them out. We will find them and cut out their hearts one by one until the First shows itself for what it really is. And I'll kill it myself. There is only one thing on this earth more powerful than evil, and that's us. Any questions?"
When I first saw that episode, I cried during that speech. Then I saw the following episode. I spent five evenings watching nothing new but re-watching the two episodes.
Actually Buffy only died twice. Once at the hands of the Master and once at the end of season 5. She did not die when she got shot Warren, although she did come close.
Actually did kind of in the episode with faith where the demon drowned her you saw her go limp and then she spring out of the water and says "I hate when they drown me" didn't she?
The TV series of this iconic show is way more famous than that stupid movie. I don’t care what people say. Sarah Michelle Gellar is Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

This show was one of the most meaningful and deeply impacting show. It instilled me. To fight for what u believe in that no matter wat u are up against. There is always a way around it. It cemented my kind nature and my will to protect and fight for fairness and compassion. It helped me when days was dark. And made me laugh when I could. Growing up in a time when mental health was not even a thought. It kept me going. Knowing I just had to make it day by day week by week. One episode a week probably kept me going thru my adolescents. Buffy and this show. Gave me a guaranteed highlight for me on a weekly bases. It was just a, show but to a weird unique out of place teen like me. It gave me hope. U don't have to fit in to be good or kind or make a difference in the world. Every person has a role to play. And I am not 40 yo. And every day I get up and I play my part. I am not the hero in everyone's story. But I am in mine. And I try to be one to atleast one person every day. Sometimes I success sometimes I don't. But I never give up. Buffy taught me that. This show taught me to be resilient.
Buffy the vampire slayer was more than just my favorite show, she was a role model to me as a woman and as a survivor in life.....for me her best badass moment was when she was fighting against dark willow and she says "i dont want to hurt you" willow than punches, buffy gets back up and says " i said i dont want to hurt you" punches willow than says "didnt say i wont"😮...goes to show she will take down even people shes loves to protect the world......no one will ever replace buffy (true fans will always love "once more with feeling" and "hush")

My favorite thing about Buffy is so many of her "badass moments" are her being self sacrificing or deeply empathetic to those around her. Doing what needs to be done to protect others. She is one of the greatest examples of a modern day interpretation of the classic hero trope.
It's not on Disney+ in the US, and I really hope it's in its original format in whichever country you're in, instead of that God-awful "remastered" version... Yuck. Hulu is the only streaming platform I know of in the US where it can be viewed in the original format (for the most part). The later seasons are streamed in widescreen, which makes for some visible goofs (like certain things being in the shot when they weren't in the original TV edit), but it's still SOOOOOO much better than that horrible remastered version, like what was used for the prom scene in this video. Yuck... Aspect ratio aside, all of the film grain is completely removed, the color grading is way off, and most of the original filters (day to night, twilight, etc) have been totally disregarded, which really interferes with the viewing experience.... And not just for someone who knows what it's supposed to look like, because some scenes don't even make sense when the filters are removed.... Anyways, great show, and I hope everyone has the means to see it in its original glory!!!
There is moment in the scene before she kills Angel which is incredible. Angelus knocks the sword out her hands and mocks her. He says " That's everything. No weapon, no friends, no hope. Take all that away and what's left." He tries to stab her with the sword. She stops it with both her palms. Looks at him and says "Me" And then hits him in the head with his own sword pommel. Definitely one of the best moments!!

@@Generalbas1972 there was internet when Buffy came out. But I get what you say. Those people find it easier to complain than to work on themselves. Buffy is a show that retains its magic and charm year after year. It was light years ahead of its time. Funny and serious at the same time, and thought provoking in the right cases. So many great moments in this show it's hard to make a list. Two I think that should have made it are in S3 Episode Amends when Buffy tries to save Angel from the sunrise, the acting is off the charts. Another is the final fight with the evil Caleb in S7 when she finally kills him.
@@killianlpc Sorry, old comment, I know, but I just love how Angel stands there and watches Buffy absolutely destroy Caleb and says “That’s my girl” or whatever. It’s so very “Kick his ass, I’ll hold your purse.”
I know some of the shiny has been worn off of BTVS after the allegations against Joss Whedon but this show still holds up. I'm glad you put the Buffy/Spike scene on here - I know it wasn't well received when it aired but it really goes to show her internal struggles after being resurrected - it's easy to judge when none of us have ever been through half of even the real life stuff that she has! Idk if I would say #20 was badass. That was actually a really low moment for her (especially considering what their relationship became later in the season). Spike is my favorite character and I will always have a soft spot for Spuffy, but I don't think that one belongs on the list.
To me Spike's obsession with Buffy was unhealthy. Even before he attacked her in the bathroom. So I never got why so many people shipped them. After all his last partner he drove insane before changing her.
@@user-PuppyDanHuh? - That wasn't Spike. Angel was the one who drove Drusilla mad before turning her. Drusilla was the one who turned Spike because she wanted someone to play with and be her knight.
@@amandabaker4678 I knew one of them drove her nuts. I get a little muddled with who sired who. Thats right Spike was the one who used rail road spikes hence his name.
Great clips and agree that they are all badass. I suggest people rewatch the show and listen to the dialogue and pay attention to the themes. I contend that it is the most underrated show in television history. The presentation and challenges to morality, philosophical debates, what is right, relationships, etc. have rarely been attempted before or since. After the first season, BTVS becomes an original show that is more than a teenage supernatural thriller but also keeps top tier humor and exciting action.
Personally, I would flip the top, as Buffy sharing her power is huge. Yes killing Angel was (for her) one of the most difficult things she did, but as far as changing the world and securing her position of ultimate Slayer, empowering all potentials can't be beat.
Agreed. This was where Buffy with Willows help challenged and changed a power system that had been in place since time began. She stopped simply being a slayer with that and became the mother of all slayers in making it that all potentials are slayers. She increased, upended and changed the whole balance of slayer power in the world forever.
You should do a "Top 10 Worst Buffy The Vampire Slayer Characters" because to me, the worst characters were the Potential Slayers because they ALL had the the nerve to kick Buffy out of her own house and picked Faith to be THEIR leader
Xander is the hero of season 6. He beat Dark Willow with talking. One of the great lessons from the show is that men can be strong by simply being kind and vulnerable, and Xander is the ultimate champion of that idea.
I love Buffy! She's really great😀True friend, protector, guardian. She's always there when you need her. So many great moments. Buffy comes out to her mom,Buffy deceives Faith, her fighting Faith,Buffy kills the Master, her return after becoming Anne, destroying the school with her friends to kill evil demonic Mayor, fighting dark Willow, kicking down he door while signing"walk through the fire". Epic! Telling off Watcher's council is beautiful. Perfect moment! Sacrificing herself to save Dawn is really heartbreaking. Buffy killing Angel is so sad. Tragic. Awesome show and awesome character! Sarah is perfect Buffy. Excellent video!
I was in high school throughout this series run (graduated in 01). It was the tv show that represented an entire generation. I watch it now & have serious happy flashbacks... the clothing, hairstyles, the lingo... the whole show is my happy place.
@@angerkun musicals are corny at least this one developed the plot and had a natural justification according to the show theme... Not like the we're dancing and singing out of nowhere just because
I can't agree with the #1 spot. If you were to choose a moment from that battle, it should have been when Angel asks what's left after you take everything from her, and she responds with a simple: Me Otherwise I feel that calling the moment she kills her boyfriend "badass" is undermining the trauma of that moment. And putting it above the idea of empowering thousands of women is not cool

I was going to watch this and send it too my dad later since we watched the show together, but as soon as the first one started there was no way that was happening lmao
Most people tend to forget that #16 was edited/delayed due to the Columbine shooting. The original story had Johnathan killing students, but they changed it to him committing suicide. In spite of that, it’s still one of the funniest episodes. Why they never won an Emmy is ridiculous.
Dark Wilow was something that I would have never anticipated watching the first season. From " cute awkward nerdy geek 🤓 to powerful witch 🧹 with a penchant for vengeance who almost destroyed the world because she was overwhelmed with grief" just showed Alyson Hanigan is quite a versatile actress. ❤
Losing her powers better known as "Buffy and Giles begin the downfall of the Council's power, just to reform it". Best part of the all potentials get the power is that little girl at the plate who knows she is about to put that ball into another TIME ZONE before it comes down.
What's sad is the reminder that she had at a few times, helped / had positive interactions with Jonathan, who would later become a part of the villainous trio (though Warren was THE worst one). She saved him from himself, potentially, and he was the one who gave the speech at the prom. There was an episode, I think, where he became the center of the universe (of sorts) that may have foreshadowed his fall, but seeing that she had helped him (and others) and he still wanted to go after her (at least, for Warren) was kind of sad.
"Any Buffy fan worth their salt knows that the titular character dies three times over the course the series..." oh boy have you opened a can of worms 😂

17:28 Xander is the real hero of the episode. Despite taking blasts from magic and slashes to his face and body, he stands firm. His unconditional love for his best friend in her time of anger allows her to finally move past it and gives her a chance to grieve.
I have watched this series more than ten times hahaha Buffy is my go to series when I’m feeling really down and the odds are against me! It always seems to give me that extra kick I need. I like your choices but one of my favourite episodes has to be Hush and let’s face it bad ass Buffy is pretty much in every single episode and it never gets old for me ❤❤❤
I remember that Class Protector episode. When I watched it on tv. It was such a beautiful and happy moment. I don’t know why that one stuck in my memory like that.
I think one of her most badass moments when she puts aside her vengance for faith to foght the councils elite, in the middle of such rage and hate she still knows whats right
Decent list. I agree with problems mentioned in most of the comments but one thing on season 5: Glory planned to open the portal however she didn’t. Buffy beats the hell out of her with the Hammer of a god, forces her to change back to her mortal form of Ben and then Giles kills him. Meanwhile a character played by Joel Gray preforms the ritual that opens the portal.
One detail you shared was an error. In the episode "Anne," Lily (Joan, Chantarelle, etc.) was not a former classmate, but someone she had previously saved from that vampire fan club thing.

The acting in the scene where she tells her mom everything is absolutely spot on. You can feel the emotion from both of them and it gets me every time.
This damn scene makes me so sad and angry. I cried so hard. Every time!!

One of the best shows of my childhood. I don't know how the hell I got away with watching it, but I'm glad I did. Sure, It's a bit dated now, but if you want a slice of late 90's teen drama nostalgia, there's nothing better.
I love it. Buffy is an awesome character
I still don’t know how I got away with it too!!😂😂😂
Right? I was an adult watching this, and it's pretty ooky in retrospect. Never would have allowed my child to watch it. But it's good. Very good.
And I am not judging your parents' parenting by any means. It's a great show. But my actual child couldn't have handled it. 😄
It's not dated at all
I think one of the most bad ass moments for Buffy was keeping it together to deal with her mom’s death.
Did you know that whole episode has no music? As another above me said, masterclass in storytelling.
Also I'm sorry for your and your husband's loss.

Buffy sharing her power and not being the only slayer anymore should have been number 1. Also I think that the time where Buffy tells Tara’s family that if they want to take Tara against her will “they have to go through me” should have been on here.
Couldn't agree more 👏
Absolutely
in truth there were just so many iconic scenes...
That one is my favorite.

Same, Buffy + Spike

She also died it the alternative dimension of The Wish.
And she kinda died from the Warren's bullet, the machines went flat but willow pulled the bullet out was enough bring her back round

This is me. ❤
Jonathan presents her with a special award for protecting them all and then later tries to take her down 😢😡
I actually think Warren manipulated them into doing what they did.
Jonathan has a lot on his plate.
Edit: Sorry. Had.
Jonathan was just trying to fit in and have friends. Even these so-called friends treated him like crap. He deserved better than what he was given.
I wish Jonathan's story arc had turned out differently ... in the end, he found a spine, but, we know how that worked out.
"One of her classmates." "When she convinces someone to chose life." Come on, let's call him Jonathon. He appeared in dozens of episodes! :)

and in the movies too - e.g. Ripley/Aliens and maybe to a lesser extent Lindsey Brigman in "The Abyss" (Aliens/Abyss of course both J. Cameron films).
My favorite thing about Buffy is so many of her "badass moments" are her being self sacrificing or deeply empathetic to those around her. Doing what needs to be done to protect others. She is one of the greatest examples of a modern day interpretation of the classic hero trope.
Buffy is very unique. She fights to protect innocent lives and those she loves even if she has to given up her life
Praise Disney Plus for having this series in their catalogue. It's the perfect spooky show to watch around Halloween! 🦇🎃👻

The Class Protector moment makes me tear up every time.
Even Jonathan's eyes were a little teary as he gave her the award.
There is moment in the scene before she kills Angel which is incredible. Angelus knocks the sword out her hands and mocks her. He says " That's everything. No weapon, no friends, no hope. So many great moments in this show it's hard to make a list. Two I think that should have made it are in S3 Episode Amends when Buffy tries to save Angel from the sunrise, the acting is off the charts. Another is the final fight with the evil Caleb in S7 when she finally kills him.

Yes. That’s exactly what I was thinking.

One of the most heartbreaking moment was the body episode..
Most people tend to forget that #16 was edited/delayed due to the Columbine shooting. The original story had Johnathan killing students, but they changed it to him committing suicide. In spite of that, it’s still one of the funniest episodes. Why they never won an Emmy is ridiculous.
The whole show is iconic ❤❤❤ I love Buffy the strength she gave me

Dark Wilow was something that I would have never anticipated watching the first season. From " cute awkward nerdy geek 🤓 to powerful witch 🧹 with a penchant for vengeance who almost destroyed the world because she was overwhelmed with grief" just showed Alyson Hanigan is quite a versatile actress. ❤
Losing her powers better known as "Buffy and Giles begin the downfall of the Council's power, just to reform it".
Best part of the all potentials get the power is that little girl at the plate who knows she is about to put that ball into another TIME ZONE before it comes down.
Love Buffy
This is how you write a strong female story that everyone loves. We don't hate women, we hate shitty writing.
Y’all forgot the time she fought a literal GOD and WON, just to be humble enough to spare her in the final moments of the season 5 finale!!!
Telling off the Watcher’s Council should have been number one

I have watched this series more than ten times hahaha Buffy is my go to series when I’m feeling really down and the odds are against me! It always seems to give me that extra kick I need. I like your choices but one of my favourite episodes has to be Hush and let’s face it bad ass Buffy is pretty much in every single episode and it never gets old for me ❤❤❤
I just finished watching Buffy for the first time. All these moments are fire.
I miss buffy so much
Anne deserves to be top 3. One of my favourite moments in any show.
I’m actually watching this rn! It’s a awesome tv show
Quite a few untrue things said in this tbh but always appreciate buffy content it’s rare these days 😂
What about taking down Adam with the enjoining spell?? That was #1
SMG deserves an icon award for this series. This show saved the entire network that was failing at the time.
One detail you shared was an error. In the episode "Anne," Lily (Joan, Chantarelle, etc.) was not a former classmate, but someone she had previously saved from that vampire fan club thing.
Anne is Buffy’s middle name. Which is why she uses that name in number 12.
Her episode ending speech from Season Seven's "Bring On The Night". Nothing beats how "badass" that is fot me.
