Thanks Tom! I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be able to fly in this area due to the airport. The airport manager and the air traffic controllers were all very nice. They all thanked me for doing what I was supposed to do. I am not going to lie I was a little nervous to call them and really I don't know why, but I guess first time jitters. Now they know who I am and have me in there system. It is kind of crazy hearing the guy you are talking to giving manned aircraft directions while you are this drone operator. He even asked if I would hold on real quick while he was talking his air language. Not once did any of the 3 or 4 people I have spoken to made me feel like I was bothering them though at all. You have to call them back when you are done and had a really good conversation with the guy I spoke to doing that.
I'm not really surprised because I'm a pilot and have communicated with the FAA for years. I know it can be intimidating, but my experience is that people really appreciate it when you do the right thing. I'm glad you did the right thing because a lot of drone operators don't which makes it more difficult for all of us. Keep up the good work!
I can for sure make them longer. This one got cut a little short when a tree stepped in front of the drone...lol. The drone is still on the repair pad but it did minimal damage and waiting on parts. In the 2 years I have been flying drones this was only my second crash and both crashes have been into trees. Obviously as sophisticated as these drones are these days it was operator error, and if I would have programmed it right it would have automatically come back to its take off position unharmed. Believe it or not I had only been in the air for about 8 minutes for this entire flight and captured all of what's in the video before the run in with the tree. Thanks for the feedback!!!

You are in and not to worry there are a lot of people in the group that don't have drones. It is just really cool to see the video footage and images all from drones.
