Freedom sodas, pew pew, favorite dog named hank….cant imagine a better time. Love your no bs honest videos. Just found em’. I will say, love me some mora and benchmade, but find myself cringing to buy one when i can forge something comparable that fits my meat beater. When you first pulled the mora out, close to the heal of the cutting edge something looked shiny af.
@@Chekin6swreckinloofas I know what you’re saying about having a hard time buying a $200 knife when you can make something similar if not even better. But it’s almost like making some breakfast sometimes it just taste better when someone else makes it. Lol
I regrind moras moving the grind up a little and round the shoulder and make the scandi more convex and it performs plenty good try it on your belt grinder mate. They do pretty okay then Your custom you made me is plenty tough and still plenty thin
Yeah on some of these forms some people say that the CPM s30v chips pretty easy if you baton with it hard. Benchmade had some pretty big balls making this knife with a controversial handle and this type of steel that is somewhat brittle and grinding it pretty thin at the edge and leaving it at 60 HRC that took some guts. We'll see I'm going to use it and make this my primary camping knife for at least this summer
@@AaronJohnson1979 you can call it brittle all you want but dollar for dollar it is far and away the best and strongest knife I have ever owned..way better than a mora, esse, tops…I can say you honestly get what you pay for x10
@@Faith-Ministries I’ve used it quite a while now and no issues whatsoever with the benchmade BushCrafter the S30V has done outstanding it’s a great knife
@@AaronJohnson1979 ya it really is...I don't say this to be mean but I honestly think the "Price" is a problem for a lot of people. I have many knives, Tops, Becker, Esse...When I go outdoors my benchmade is on my hip...my BK7 is on my pack :-)
@@AaronJohnson1979 haha yeah the biggest problem for me is getting it on and of my back thats the heaviest 😅 now my sickness has gotten worse so be fun too see if my body still can take it
After 5 years of wanting a Bushcrafter I finally bought one. The minute I got it out of the box I instantly knew that stock pocket knife style V grind was going bye bye. I raised the edge up and now it cuts deep like a scandi but has more control . I am sold on the design of the handle but I did have to smooth out the sharp edges on the butt end .Took about 10 minutes with fine sandpaper to make it feel nice in the hand no big deal. At first I thought those hollow pins would be annoying but now my grip just falls into place just fine no issues. I love using back cuts when whittling I also love the scallops up front, the handle is a cool design. As for the steel ...I LOVE IT ! I've had zero issues and I don't find it that hard to maintain. I've had no chipping even though I raised my relief edge it's had no issues . Those who say it's chippy must be talking about s30v on other brands cause mine has been fine. This S30V stays sharp and has changed my view on super steels . Also I am weird I guess cause the sheath is awesome , it's not perfect but I like the way it works .I can pull the blade out so easily and I've had no issue with cutting into the sheath or the snap flap. I can see how some people might do so but for myself and my style I don't have a problem sheathing it safely. I still love my Tops Brakimo 1095hc it's also a fave of mine , 1095 is my preferred steel BUT I'm no longer married to that belief .
I think benchmade left it thick Behind the edge because they might’ve been worried about S30V far as toughness. You probably haven’t had any problems because you must know how to use your knife But most people don’t so bench made left it thick, kind of like having training wheels on. All in all it’s still a great knife I think it’s better than mora GARBERG even simply because the bushcrafter is 61 HRC and the Mora is under 60
@@AaronJohnson1979 Yeah there is always a reason behind their designs, I like being able to make knives my own, I do get a bit more nervous when it's a new $200 knife. 😁 I don't really like the Garberg anymore , I used um a ton but sold both of them . I do still have a Bushcraft Black , I like the geometry of that blade over the Garberg. Personally I think the Heavy duty Mora in your vid is one of their best knives . I've made a lot of custom wood handle mods with that blade.
@@AaronJohnson1979 Wow man I'm looking over your vids and see you make your own blades 👍 That's awesome , I'll sub and watch up on your stuff. I was getting into making knives from blanks for awhile and really love it BUT unfortunately a neck disc buldge has my good arm all screwed up ....I freaking hate not being able to do my hobby stuff it's driving batty . ...Nerve issues suck ! Anyways cheers 🍻 man and Thanks for the comments back.

Great video. Just picked up a Bushcrafter, looks like it'll serve me well.
Yeah, it’s still one of my favorite knives I have

Omg the feathersticking. Hard to watch. Almost unbearable.
Well, I’m definitely no expert in it. I did my best bushcrafting is something I’m very interested in and hope to get into more one day.
I usually carry in around 65-70 pounds 😅🤣 when im on a hike
This might have been 40 pounds and that was enough for me. Lol.
