My ring has been on my finger for 24years, I have never taken it off, I have not been able to. I finally decided to do something about it, went to a jewellers yesterday who, having looked at it, advised me to go to the local hospital to have it cut off. I thought that was definitely what I would have to do, but took a look at RUclips today to see if anything would help....I have watched videos this afternoon, tried string, floss, elastic, nothing worked & and my finger got sorer and more swollen. I then watched your video, tried it with the tights/nylons and it is off - I literally cannot believe it!!! I am so happy, particularly as the inside of the ring is inscribed and I did not want to damage it by cutting it off, but I did think I would have no choice. Your tip of doing it in sections was really a good idea, that's what I did - I also just kept going, even through the pain because it definitely is painful - but actually, once I started it, I could just feel it was working and kept going. I got a brain fart--I can't believe I did not check on RUclips like I usually do when I want to learn how to make something such as cook/bake or fix. You were the first video I clicked on and saw (I clicked on like) and then I saw some other but they were using floss--so I came back to your video and decided to try it and it worked like a charm. Hi there! Thank you so much for the step by step amazing tutorial. My ring got stuck towards the knuckle. For the past one week, I tried the thread method (alternative to dental floss) and ended up bruising the finger. Finally, I managed to get my stuck ring off after watching your tutorial. Just a tip for anyone in this situation, if you don't have a pantyhose, you can use the band from your pants. I used a thin (0.5cm width) band. The key here, is to observe your finger and make sure that the flesh is compressed as you go along. Also, apply some thick lubricant (eg. petroleum jelly) on your finger before winding the band/pantyhose around your finger. Apply more as you move upwards. The lubricant helps for a smooth movement and reduce the friction pain. Good luck!
This worked amazingly! I’m 36 weeks pregnant and waited just a little too long to take my wedding rings off my fingers that started to swell. After reading through comments, I soaked my finger in ice water for 15 minutes first which helped numb my finger. I then used Vaseline under the pantyhose, used this hack working on small pieces at a time with my husband’s help and had it off within 20-25 minutes (including the 15 minute soak time). This was all after trying a bunch of methods the day before that didn’t work. Thank you so much!

I used your method after soaking my hand in really cold water for about 30 minutes and it worked! I thought I would have to cut my rings off, but luckily I am able to avoid that. Thank you again.

My finger was turning purple, but I pressed through and had no choice, but to go through the pain. I had to even pause a few times and use ice for a few secs. I had to used Windex the entire time, but I nearly cried tears of joy when my ring finally came off!!! Keeping them off until after my pregnancy when my swelling goes down. After trying so many other tutorials on RUclips, nothing worked and I had given up. Tomorrow I was going to go to get my ring cut off and then I found your video. I had some hope reading everyone else's comments (though I had had hope from other videos, too!). I thought maybe this wouldn't work because I actually have two rings soldered together. I needed help properly wrapping the nylon around my finger but by the third wrap and unraveling, I was so shocked to see my ring just pop off completely!! I did not think the nylon was going to effectively wrap up anything around my knuckle because my ring was completely wedged stuck by that point! I cannot thank you enough for this video. FYI yall, I had neither floss or nylon.... So I broke out the gauze. Works the same! Thank goodness I got my ring off. If it wasnt for your nylon idea I never would've thought to use gauze! Thank you!!!

My finger was swollen and I tried loads of soap and oil and even I put my hand in a bowl full of ice in a hope that it gets smaller but none worked. I tried dental floss and it peeled off my skin. We only have dental piks home so while my husband went to buy dental floss string at 6AM I found your video. I used your method instead and although it hurt cuz my finger was very swolen it truly worked! I had both rings on. I did one ring at a time and it probably took 30 seconds each ring. 👏🏽 👏🏽
I tried this out. I’m 9 months pregnant and woke up with my wrist hurting, turns out it was just my tight ring. After several attempts to remove it failed I started freaking out thinking I had to get it cut off at the ER. I practiced this on a lose ring before giving it one more try on my ring finger before heading to the ER. BUT, luckily this worked and saved me a trip to the ER at 3 in the morning. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this video. That's all I can say. I had tried washing up liquid, vaseline, the cotton method which cut my finger by the way. I tried ice water and holding my hand above my head. I was desperate. This worked a treat. You do have to wrap three or four times like the tutorial and yes it hurt like hell but it worked. This was my last resort before going to A&E. Thank you again.

I stupidly put both of my size 4(wedding band and engagement) wedding rings on the same finger on my right hand instead of my left "temporarily" to cook last night because they were slipping off of my other finger(married over 10 years my finger is just naturally slimmer where my rings sit). THANK YOU SO MUCH this saved me an ER trip I wear tons of rings daily and one of my midi rings that sits above my ring finger knuckle had slipped past my knuckle and got VERY stuck. This took me about 15 minutes of slowly working it up and I cheered in relief once it came off. OMG thank you. I lost my diamond out of my engagement ring today 😫needed to get it off for the insurance company. I used thin elastic instead. Had a blue finger tip for a while but it came off!!! Think I'll get it resized before putting it back after repair.

It got to bedtime and it wouldn't come off, i caused a load of swelling trying to remove it. Literally saved my finger. I was starting to panic as I am 3 weeks postpartum and didn’t even think to take my rings off because I didn’t swell until after giving birth. Thanks for the tip because floss would have definitely shredded my skin.
I will add my voice to the rest of the adoring public! This worked beautifully with very little discomfort. Only a little "burning" from the friction of the nylon when pulling it out. I havent tried the dental floss trick, but dont like the idea that you could possibly compromise blood flow by wrapping the dental floss too tightly. Because panty hose/stockings are stretchy there is little chance of that when you use this material. (its thenurse in me coming out....😊). Thank you for a brilliant idea. Got my ring off without any problem. You are a genius!

You have to start the floss or string at the base of the finger, near the ring and wrap toward the tip of finger. Then unwind it and it'll come right off

I tried many methods which I watched on youtube until my finger turned purple! 😭😭😭 I believed it worked on some but not all. I tried your method, it didn't work too. It caused my finger to blister slightly. With the help of my daughter I decided to try rubbing my then swollen finger gently with aloe vera and thankfully the ring finally came off...with much pain of course. 😭😭😭😭😭 I will bring the ring to the jeweller to have it expanded a little. If you are wondering if it can be expanded, yes it can!

This really works! 38 weeks pregnant and worried I would need to cut off my wedding band. I soaked my hand in ice water for 15 mins first. It was quite painful but not for long. So relieved! Thank you!

After trying so many other tutorials on RUclips, nothing worked and I had given up. Tomorrow I was going to go to get my ring cut off and then I found your video. I had some hope reading everyone else's comments (though I had had hope from other videos, too!). I thought maybe this wouldn't work because I actually have two rings soldered together.
I needed help properly wrapping the nylon around my finger but by the third wrap and unraveling, I was so shocked to see my ring just pop off completely!! I did not think the nylon was going to effectively wrap up anything around my knuckle because my ring was completely wedged stuck by that point! I cannot thank you enough for this video. I am so grateful!
FYI yall, I had neither floss or nylon.... So I broke out the gauze. Works the same! Thank goodness I got my ring off. If it wasnt for your nylon idea I never would've thought to use gauze! Thank you!!!
Thank you so much Becca. It worked. I can’t believe that I could take my wedding ring off without cutting it. I already rang a few jewellers and all told me that I have to cut it. My finger was swollen and I tried loads of soap and oil and even I put my hand in a bowl full of ice in a hope that it gets smaller but none worked.
I tried dental floss and it peeled off my skin. But this method was a miracle and YES it only works when you wrap it around several times during the process.

THANK YOU so much for posting this video. Clear and upclose so I can see what you did. I tried the regular string at first and it was digging in my skin making the pain worse. We only have dental piks home so while my husband went to buy dental floss string at 6AM I found your video. I used your method instead and although it hurt cuz my finger was very swolen it truly worked! I had both rings on. I did one ring at a time and it probably took 30 seconds each ring. 👏🏽 👏🏽
I tried this out. I’m 9 months pregnant and woke up with my wrist hurting, turns out it was just my tight ring. After several attempts to remove it failed I started freaking out thinking I had to get it cut off at the ER. I practiced this on a lose ring before giving it one more try on my ring finger before heading to the ER. BUT, luckily this worked and saved me a trip to the ER at 3 in the morning. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this video. That's all I can say. I had tried washing up liquid, vaseline, the cotton method which cut my finger by the way. I tried ice water and holding my hand above my head. I was desperate. This worked a treat. You do have to wrap three or four times like the tutorial and yes it hurt like hell but it worked. This was my last resort before going to A&E. Thank you again.

I did this with the addition of dawn soap and a little water and it took maybe 20 seconds. You have no idea how thankful I am for this vid! USE NYLON NOT FLOSS OR STRING!

I stupidly put both of my size 4(wedding band and engagement) wedding rings on the same finger on my right hand instead of my left "temporarily" to cook last night because they were slipping off of my other finger(married over 10 years my finger is just naturally slimmer where my rings sit).
This morning, the other finger was swollen and in trying to get them off, because of their odd shapes, the tip of said finger finally went numb and purple.

You are a life saver. I am 35 weeks pregnant and with a ring on my finger which wakes me up in the middle of the night because it made so much pain. THANK YOU SO MUCH this saved me an ER trip I wear tons of rings daily and one of my midi rings that sits above my ring finger knuckle had slipped past my knuckle and got VERY stuck. This took me about 15 minutes of slowly working it up and I cheered in relief once it came off. The anxiety of having a ring stuck on a swollen, bruised finger with only a sliver of hope of getting it off is over 😅

This WORKS ! I discovered that wetting your finger & pantyhose with dishwashing liquid and water helps it to slide off easier.

OMG thank you. I lost my diamond out of my engagement ring today 😫needed to get it off for the insurance company. I used thin elastic instead. Had a blue finger tip for a while but it came off!!! Think I'll get it resized before putting it back after repair.

Thankyou so much I got my engagement ring stuck. I tried it on for the day to see if it needed resizing - I even took it off twice to cook. It got to bedtime and it wouldn't come off, i caused a load of swelling trying to remove it. I waited until morning and used ice and vaseline to no avail but the nylon method worked with minimal pain! Cleaned off that sucker and got a bigger size 😂

I will add my voice to the rest of the adoring public! This worked beautifully with very little discomfort. Only a little "burning" from the friction of the nylon when pulling it out. I havent tried the dental floss trick, but dont like the idea that you could possibly compromise blood flow by wrapping the dental floss too tightly. Because panty hose/stockings are stretchy there is little chance of that when you use this material. (its thenurse in me coming out....😊). Thank you for a brilliant idea. Got my ring off without any problem. You are a genius!

You have to start the floss or string at the base of the finger, near the ring and wrap toward the tip of finger. Then unwind it and it'll come right off

I tried many methods which I watched on youtube until my finger turned purple! 😭😭😭 I believed it worked on some but not all. I tried your method, it didn't work too. It caused my finger to blister slightly. With the help of my daughter I decided to try rubbing my then swollen finger gently with aloe vera and thankfully the ring finally came off...with much pain of course. 😭😭😭😭😭 I will bring the ring to the jeweller to have it expanded a little. If you are wondering if it can be expanded, yes it can!
