I considered including F boots, but I just don't find it very entertaining to talk about SRM when mixed with more traditional glitches. When the foundation for F boots is the "literally do anything you want" glitch, it feels hollow to celebrate any of its individual capabilities, you know?
nice danny this was a great video! seamwalking was always a personal curiosity of mine that I never bothered to sit down and investigate, I have to say the actual reason for it is much more interesting than I thought it would be.
this video is an absolute banger (and not just because my glitch was mentioned Kappa) I was thinking a video on different ways to achieve height would be interesting, and it was! The stuff at the end was especially fun Super sick
You've always had such a compelling style even when it was just basic strat conveyance, super cool to see you officially branching out to longer form content like this. Your wealth of knowledge really comes through in the subtle jokes and focused editing. Makes for nice watching for both those who know a lot or those who know almost nothing.
Wait, swimming from Gerudo Valley to Lake Hylia has you go *up*. This suggests that the body of water feeding Gerudo Valley is a massive lake above it with so much water flowing down that can push it up hill. Or it's just OOT's version of paradox cave.
Haha it's only up in the sense of the relative placements of each map within their own coordinate systems. There's no real concept of inter-map relationships outside of our imaginations, which is exactly the topic I wanted to tackle in the back half!
The extra funny party about the Fire Temple's height discrepancy is that I'm pretty sure the intent was for the tops of the temple's two spires to fit inside the two large rocks in Death Mountain Crater, on either side of the warp platform.
this one of the best ocarina of time videos ive watched in a long time, thank you so much for this what an absolute delight to watch especially the last bit
A mod where every room is loaded and connect at the same time would be so cool. And thank you for taking into account the dark loading zones and how they could have a slope leading to the next area.
17:20 - Wait wait wait wait, it's been 26 years, how have I never noticed that the grate on Hyrule Field leads to Gerudo Valley? That's mad, I had absolutely no idea there was continuity to the river from Jabu. I swear this video has like 3 sidequests in it which are all absolutely fascinating, so excited to see you keep making these!
@@Jademalo yeah the water from zoras fountain is implied to reach lake hylia both via the long path I showed with the cam flyover, and also via zoras domain through the shortcut!
@@dannyb21892 Hahaha wow, I hadn't considered the shortcut either! That's super neat, and has some pretty fun water pressure implications lol. The grate next to Jabu that flows bypassing King Zora is interesting too, it never occured to me that it would be the source of the waterfall. It's fascinating how a tiny change in perspective makes you notice things you've missed for hundreds if not thousands of hours, lol.
Surprised to not see any mention of the F Boots! that's always been one of my favorite quirky glitches. Great video still, production quality is quite impressive
1 million inches (assuming the metric for height is units) is 25km upward, which means Link ascended to the peak of Mars' highest mountain, Olympus Mons.
Awesome vid! Im gonna start using "below link's house" instead of "below sea level." Can't wait till next month when someone uses choke cancel to find Ganon Soar 😂
"So, if OoT were to be made open world without any changes, we should be able to see Fire Temple's spires jutting almost 200 feet up from within the volcano's crater" Nah but am I the only one who thinks that would actually be rad? Kinda like Majora's Mask's Stone Tower, which you can see all across Termina.
@@magley64 Ocarina of Time's code uses Z for depth and Y for height, as is very common in gaming and other computer graphics applications. Entire concepts are named after this convention (like Z buffering).

When your bonus footnote is a whole video in its own right!
1:56 “Link is athletic guy, but he’s a *realistic* athletic guy”.
like 5 seconds later: *flying in the air using explosives*
realistic when the game is played as intended i suppose, lol
3:25 I had no idea zombie hover existed in OoT as well!
This channel is about to go up!
I guess Zelda II Link was actually just scooting along the ground on his side the whole time
It's a little known fact, I'm glad I could bring this important info to light!
to be fair, he's not going up the y-axis like what DannyB referred to OOT just in the few seconds at the intro.
Zelda II link is going up the x-axis.
Amazing video, once again demonstrating your trifecta of game knowledge, enthusiasm for the topic, and attention to detail in presentation
No F boots?
Great video, the way you use camera angles and editing makes things super easy to follow and fun.
yeah F boots are definitely better for going up forever than chokeshot since it's not a softlock

The ending could have been an entire separate video LOL what a treat
2:40 oh wow that's such a good demonstration of starting a hover, not even backflipping, I never saw someone entering a hover like this

This is so good on so many levels. I can't wait for more content like this, you're a natural when it comes to this type of content!
Even as a kid, Jabu Jabu's temple made me feel that OoT's world required our imagination for consistency. Great video!

I love all the camera angles. Very well made video!
8:12 Hilarious 😂
Amazing to finally see a use for child hookshot, and it's so visually hilarious I really hope it makes its way into a run
this one of the best ocarina of time videos ive watched in a long time, thank you so much for this what an absolute delight to watch especially the last bit
Excellent video! The way you visualized it made it easy to follow but also entertaining. Keep it up, this is quality :D
8:56 - the Rocket Launch radio chatter was a great touch
I was not expecting PointCrow’s “Zelda is a Flat Earth” video to be so on the point 😅
damn, this is an awesome video, thank you for making it! the "open worlding" segment at the end was great
"It's at least in the top three axes, for sure."
5D Chess has entered the chat
Excellent video! Really liked the hookshot jump explanation, and the idea of stitching the world together is very cool!
A mod where every room is loaded and connect at the same time would be so cool. And thank you for taking into account the dark loading zones and how they could have a slope leading to the next area.
Love this content!
Would love you to post more run VODS too! Or even better yet dual stream on YT & Twitch.

Awesome video! Glad you made it into my feed. Subscribed! 😊
Didn't realize I was subscribed but very glad I am :3
Great stuff - excited to see more of this type of content from you.
Awesome video Danny

I always thought the fire temples spires where supposed to be those two bumps in death mountain crater, but the dungeon doesnt squeeze in i guess XD

That was a really good video! Great job
This makes me wanna learn more freecam stuff in GZ
@@LunaticJ it's really so invaluable for good in game demonstrations. Or even just cinematography lol
Really enjoyed the height of Hyrule. Would love to see other Zelda maps like this.
Good job danny, this video style is great
Very nice, these videos really know how to tickle the oot part of my brain
Cool video, informative as always Danny
very fun and informative video. hope to see more like this one
11:49 Link has achieved full Neo-status in the Matrix
I wish I could like this Video twice! Great work 🙂
Goated channel ❤️
Best transition ever 17:24

12:00 it didn't crash; it started displaying scientific notation. I wonder what the true hard limit is.
probably ieee754 float max
What kind of psycho would establish height origin inside a TREE house?!
That was excellent.
Great stuff!
13:08 - Death M-WOW-ntain
Can't believe you didn't use the footage from my 2011 video of hookshot megajumping (in crisp 144p and riddled with emulation issues). smh
nice
You say Hyrule is flat, but you didn't mention its horizontal dimensions.
Long form wooo!
Amazaing work
Of course Link wants uppies, he's a short femboy king!!
Up is the Z axis?
nothing much what's up with you
Where is invisible link hookshot jump
Not to be pedantic, but the vertical axis is usually depicted by "z" not "y"
