In my attempt to UV Max/Pistol start (not even fast monsters) all of TNT, 29 by far gave me the most difficulty. Especially the final room, it hurt so much to die there after making it through the whole map. 29 was the only map I stopped keeping track of the number of attempts.
I just got done UV-maxing all the levels of TNT and I agree map29 was the worst. Ammo was so tight, i had to kill the 4 last shotgunners to get just enough ammo to kill the few hell knights that remained.

1% moment was epic, but also there was actually a megasphere in map29 that you've missed. you could have pick it up right when you were at 1%. one of the platforms in this room lowers just like in The Crusher in doom 2. and it had a different texture too. you've also missed one non-secret area in that map, one random wall opens in the beginning tunnels.
On MAP29, in the second to last room, there's a Megasphere. There's a lot of pillars in that room, and between each stone pillar there's a metal pillar. However, there's a pillar that breaks the pattern, press on that stone pillar to lower a Megasphere. Was funny to see you with 1% health frantically looking for more health to tackle the last room :) On MAP30, in the area with the monsters stuck in cages that are a bore to kill, they actually teleport into the final area once you teleport there yourself. In the process they will telefrag each other, leaving just a few that are easily killed before you start pumping rockets into the Icon of Sin.

Welcome to the club of nerds who have beaten Mount Pain on UV-Fast! We seem to still have a single digit amount of people who've beaten it this way, because of how irritatingly tedious the map is with its enemies and length. Some of the other maps were worse than I remembered, though. MAP26 feels a bit like filler, and I forgot about how damn stingy the ammo was in MAP29. Having no cell-based weapon in it on the higher difficulties was really stupid too. MAP28 still holds up though! But I also have to congratulate you for beating Evilution on UV-Fast! There were some really good maps sprinkled amongst some really bad maps, but it was still quite a nice experience to go through... even though Plutonia is definitely the better map set. Looking forward to your playthrough of Eviternity though! I oughta try it myself some time too.
Ah, come on. I paused the video as soon as MAP27 started, went to my Zandronum and launched Mount Pain on UV-Fast. With ZERO practice I did it on a second try (the first one lasted like 30 seconds). This map has like two BS moments: chaingunners hidden behind walls in an upper corridor and a trap in that same corridor. Other than that I can't find anything about it that's not fair, even with fast monsters. It's not even that hard, you just need to be CAREFUL, that's all. It took me about 30 mins because I didn't remember where everything was. But it didn't feel tedious at all. WHY is it tedious for other people? I just don't get it. I actually think that this is one of the best maps in TNT in terms of level design and good challenge.

"decino Faces _TNT: Evilution_ on Fast UV-Max and Everything *Freaking Dies!"* (4real) Than, you for playing this official collection of maps, cino. It's and _Plutonia_ are… an interesting look at what id considered "good enough to sell" back in _Doom's_ heyday. 👍
Eviternity is fair and balanced, in that its difficulty curve is very good, and you learn as you go. To make things a bit more fair, you're also given a nospread rapid fire pistol. If anyone who has not played modern Doom wads, which are on average more difficult than older ones (aside from the obvious ones like HR, which is difficult for other reasons than just challenge), I highly recommend Eviternity.
Dude, I am in disbelief with how quickly you killed the Icon there. Me and my brother have been stuck on this level for like, an hour. It’s insane how many things can go wrong. The worst was when I was finally in position to kill it, but my rockets started auto-aiming for a Cacodemon at the bottom of the arena.
Coming off of Doom 1 and 2, I enjoyed TNT. It's not on par with later WADs, but it's a step up in difficulty from earlier Doom releases and introduced some interesting ideas. In particular, Map04 Wormhole did interesting things with warps, Map31 I think gave us the first real Cacoswarm, and Map32 has a lot of Plutonia staples like teleporting archviles and hordes of revenants coming out of the woodwork at every step. If you really enjoy Doom 2, it's a decent bridge to Plutonia, which is a masterpiece from beginning to end. It's hard to go back after Plutonia though, so I recommend people do TNT before Plutonia, because I think you'll enjoy each of them more that way.
Actually, TNT-Map 28 “Heck” was designed by Milo Casali for TNT Evilution, which does seem like a bit of an oxymoron given the starting teleporter is the same as all the Plutonia start/endpoints. This particular map was Milo’s only contribution to TNT while his brother, Dario, designed 2 and 3/4 TNT maps. Dario Casali designed TNT-Maps 31 and 32, responsible for that infamous missing yellow key in “Pharaoh”. He also designed 3/4 of TNT-Map 18 “Mill” and the remaining 1/4 was by Ty Halderman. Their maps that did make it into TNT Evilution was id Software’s inspiration to have the Casali Brothers exclusively design all the Plutonia maps, and they did. Each brother submitted 16 maps a piece and those proved to be the icing on the cake for Final Doom
@@ThommyofThenn oh I have and struggle in the last map where you have to be incredibly fast to make it to the elevators. Speed is normal no issue for me but here, I don't know.😑
For future reference. In River Styx, second to last room (right before you teleport to the end with the red key) one of the pillars can be lowered for what i believe to be a megasphere or a BFG.
Probably an unpopular opinion but I actually like Mount Pain. Maybe it's cos I like mountain themed areas in general, they feel so vast and dangerous, and I like the way Mount Pain builds up to the reveal of the outdoor area. Like, you know you're on a mountain, it's called Mount Pain. Let me see the mountain! Anyways, GG and thanks for another great playthrough.
Eviternity isn’t anywhere near as bad difficulty wise as some of the more ridiculous mods like sunder or sunlust. It’s a fair challenge and extremely well made
I don't fully understand all or the hate that TNT gets. I do understand however that a few maps, like map 20 for example, can be pretty damn frustrating the 1st time ever playing it, or even the 2nd or 3rd time. EXTREMELY long map and you can easily get lost or stuck on it. But with that being said, I absolutely LOVE TNT Evilution, almost as much as Plutonia honestly. (but Plutonia is definitely still the best tho) Anyways great job as usual!
4:00 I somehow never noticed before now that the light amplification visor runs out after a certain amount of time. I always thought you kept it for the rest of the level.
Due to Mount Pain, I have a newfound appreciation for Plutonia despite the latter being a Revenant and Chaingunner clusterf*ck fest. Because wow, the entire level itself is just a massive grind of careful advances and cheap ambushes of hitscanners.
Holy hell!? That was incredible Decino!? Learned about you through my favorite RUclipsr Vytaan, and I can see why he refers to your videos when he needs tips😅 I swear I blinked and you completed a map every time😂
Your skillful swapping between the regular and super shotgun mystified me just a bit. It also spoke of how much of a threat the level really is by the fact that you were so insistent on saving every shell you could. Excellent stuff.
Mount Pain might be hit-scanner city, but I always think of that outdoor area and its endless Lost Souls first. It's already a challenge but then those things have to keep you on your toes. Still, that is a cool background to look at. Plutonia has the better final level between these two as well.
I know this is a random comment here, but I always laugh when you see Doom Guy's face make the grunt look. Like, I'll shoot any kind of weapon, pause the game as soon as the weapon is shot, and see Doom Guy's face grunt when there is nothing happening in the background.
Mt Pain: "Decino, We heard you like Lost Souls. So we decided to sprinkle in some Lost Souls with your Lost Souls, and throw in an extra helping of Lost Souls. Enjoy!"
Decino in 2019: I hate Mt Pain, it sucks ass Decino in 2020: And here's this really cool new content creator, MtPain27, go watch his Dean of Doom series
31:10 That's kind of a terrifying scene, all those Pain Elementals who would be gladly vomiting forth their payloads if only there wasn't a Lost Soul limit.
The number of Lost Souls in the final area of map 27 is just insane. Having them come unpredictably from all directions only make them even deadlier while dealing with the hitscanners. Too bad there seems to be no way to get 100% kill in GZDoom without noclipping thanks to those Lost Souls getting stuck there forever.
Map 26's theme reminds me a bit of five nights at freddy's entirely because of the Start of the song with the music box sounding instrument (it probably is a music box now that you think about it)

Dude when i watch doom series i don't know why i sleep maybe your voice so nice or something else 🤣🤣🤣
Keep going ❤️
I had no idea there was a reasoning behind the pattern of the torch puzzle -- nice.
Each brother submitted 16 maps a piece and those proved to be the icing on the cake for Final Doom
such a shame this is the last episode. great videos man!
Seriously, I love this channel.
I have not seen a second of this part but I know it will be the best part of this series.😀
nice similar username, totally random but always neat to see a fellow doomer with a similar name
@@ThommyofThenn Haha. Hello Tommy. Think so too. I think we are two of a rare kind.😀
@@tommy8058 But have you played Alien Vendetta? (sorry it's my current favorite wad, it's just so cozy)
@@ThommyofThenn oh I have and struggle in the last map where you have to be incredibly fast to make it to the elevators. Speed is normal no issue for me but here, I don't know.😑
@@ThommyofThenn I play actual HELLBOUND. Interesting megawad with complex but nice architecture but on the bad side too much very dark passages Imo. 😀
Decino misses elevator: ah crap I’m wasting time
Speedrunner misses: omfg this is bull
What a journey. Well played sir; onto the next thing! You know you want to play Hexen ;)
1% health, then collects 4 medi-kits: The Demon Gods made sacrificial offerings for YOU Decino! 👍
Epic playthrough, Decino!
(but Plutonia is definitely still the best tho)
Anyways great job as usual!
5:20 When you're so strong that you don't realize there's a 40kg chaingun hanging on your back
“DISASTER AREA”
Totally accurate description of this map
Just in time for my coffee as always Decino :)
Holy hell!? That was incredible Decino!? Learned about you through my favorite RUclipsr Vytaan, and I can see why he refers to your videos when he needs tips😅
I swear I blinked and you completed a map every time😂
I've never played mount pain but even watching brought me agony. Rip Decino
TNT with pistol start, the combination that makes you wish more than ever that like every other Doom port, Lost Souls only took one shotgun blast
In the yellow key room of MAP29, where you had 1% health, one of the pillars lowers to reveal a Megasphere. Could have proved useful there!
amazing job decino
you are great
Mount Pain is actually my favorite map in TNT. Maybe I should play it on -fast now...
Your skillful swapping between the regular and super shotgun mystified me just a bit. It also spoke of how much of a threat the level really is by the fact that you were so insistent on saving every shell you could. Excellent stuff.
I've been waiting so long for decino to play Mount Pain
51:52 Decino: 1%-er of Doom community. Epic! :)
Man, I'm so hyped for Eviternity. It's so cool.
Eviternity? Ooh, that's really nice.
I want to see him play both eviternity and doom 64, but mostly eviternity
The Pain Elementals in Heck look like theyre trying to talk. The terms of their surrender maybe? Lol
Can't wait until Civvie is forced to endure TNT Evilution!
Mt Pain: "Decino, We heard you like Lost Souls. So we decided to sprinkle in some Lost Souls with your Lost Souls, and throw in an extra helping of Lost Souls. Enjoy!"
Garrett K “You know what this level needs? _MORE BEES!”_
And by Bees I mean Lost Souls
39:25 "You have to deal with all these monsters with just a shotgun" What is this, Hell Revealed?
Decino in 2019: I hate Mt Pain, it sucks ass
Decino in 2020: And here's this really cool new content creator, MtPain27, go watch his Dean of Doom series
I enjoyed the series, so I'm glad you did it. These last levels were indeed pretty crappy, but I still enjoyed the set.
Hooray, we're free of this particular shackle. Your coverage of the wad was definitely entertaining, TNT itself not so much.
Map 26's theme reminds me a bit of five nights at freddy's entirely because of the Start of the song with the music box sounding instrument (it probably is a music box now that you think about it)
Hey Decino, do you have any social media we can follow? Twitter or something. I really like your calm commentary a lot on these retro games I used to enjoy as a kid, so I wanted to thanks you a lot for the flash in my childhood and your soothing commentary that sets you apart from the rest. I hope we can see a lot from you down the line.
I don't. RUclips's the only platform I use.
@@decino If you don't want to be so public you could make a Discord server
@@doommaker4000 Not the reason. It's just that I'll lose overhead of the community. A Discord takes too much manpower and time to maintain, so that's also a no-no.
I see, thanks you for the reply! I'll be lookig foward for the rest of the content you have planned.
Decino: Trash talks Mountain Pain
*MountPain27 has left the chat*
@6:57 that imp ate a SSG blast to the face.
Mount Pain was my favorite TNT map

When I played through the WAD with Russian Overkill
It's remarkable how relaxing it is to watch hundreds of creatures getting blasted by a shotgun or spattered by a rocket blast.
I remember this map. It was a good one. I can't believe how many old maps are imprinted on my memory, but seeing it again I know it. It's a tough map. I died so many times on it. I wish I had your skills.
