Learn here how I break in my gloves. I try to keep it as simple as possible. Give it a shot, I truly believe your gloves will have a longer life..Thanks guys! LET'S GET IT
20k!!! You guys are amazing..new videos soon!
Great vid man.
I am new to your channel do you play college baseball?
Love the video
Luis Correa Jr what kind of glove do you have? The glove I’m currently using is the Wilson a700, it is meant for 2 in the pinky it’s a nice glove but it is really hard to break in, you might consider buying the Wilson a700 glove.
I have a Wilson A2000 from 1981. It rested in a closet for years, 20+, and was virtually ruined. I purchased some Nokona Glove Conditioner, and within a week the glove was new. It is the best conditioner I have used on any glove. Never put two balls in a glove and drop it in a bucket of water overnight or steam it. That ruins the leather, and most of us want the glove to last many years. Before using the Nokona Conditioner, I used Renew skin conditioner because leather is skin. I also recommend that glove oil not be used. It soaks through the leather into the padding and makes the leather too soft. Since buying the Nokona Conditioner, I have purchased three Nokona gloves and like all three. I just love watching TV and tossing a ball in a glove. It used to drive my dad nut, but he's gone, and I'm 70, so I can do it all I want.
God bless you sir
Same man. I’m 21 tho haha.
omg bless your soul
Same man hope you live long god bless your soul
Same man … I have my glove on when I’m on the coach all day lol tossing the ball in … I’m 34 and it’ll never change … annnnd my wiFE HATES IT 😂
I like the old school mentality. Playing catch always worked for me. I'm a mizuno guy tho when it comes to gloves
right on man! everyone has there own style, I'm just stoked you enjoy playing the game! LETS GET IT
Speed Rich Ive never used mizuno. How’s the quality?
AJ Moran they feel great. I have two gloves for infield outfield and my infield glove I like a closed webbing so nothing can get through but for outfield I did the spider webbing I think it's called. But yeah I would sponsor Mizuno id I was a MLB player😂😂😂
i’ve been using mizuno for 5 years and so far they are my favorite. I use an outfield glove and I catch
@@moderndaycaveman8516 Rawlings, Easton, Wilson or Good old USA made Nikona, Made in Texas by all local USA Workers, The Other Brands are all Made Overseas By Coolie Labors, Even Rawlings Top of the Line is made overseas also Nikona Gloves are not cheap,But you will get what you paid for to use & enjoy for years on end etc.
I don't know why but I just love the feel of a pancake glove. It just kind of wraps around the ball. I love it.
Thank you same
Same here. No need to even close the glove as that's done by the bal...
Nothing beats the A2000 1786 11.5". I've had mine since 2009 and it still serves me well. Now that my playing days are over and I've begun coaching my son in 11u, the chance to play catch with my son and others on the team keeps my love for baseball strong. Hoping to pass on my love for A2000s to my son.
Awesome tutorial! After 25 years of playing with the same mitt I got for my 7th birthday I decided that it's time to retire the old girl. From little league all the way through high school and into beer league softball she was a gamer. Anyways my point is I really had no idea how to approach breaking in a new glove until I watched this. Thanks for the help bro.
This video made me buy a new WILSON and im gonna try to break it in just like him! awesome video brother!
I kinda cringed when you beat up the rawlings, probably because I'm a Rawlings guy
Lmao sorry bud!
Same 😂
I got one.
Me too they are nicer for the guy with big hands
same i have a GG elite
Been with Wilson for the past 5 years, recently got two marucci gloves and they’re just 🔥🔥
Santa Cruz awesome man! I know a few guys who use marruci!
I like it pretty simple and to the point
Try to be as simple as possible, especially while playing the game too!
Master Aso said “the best way to break in a glove is to play catch.” His words not mine.
Vinny Avalanche then it is perfectly formed how you want it
So is a g
Riv, thanks for introducing me to the "2 in the pinky" method for the infield, just started trying it today to implement in men's ball and I love the feel! (y)
Good vid man I just bought my son a A900 he will be 10 next season and I think we will use your method to break it in.
My main issue with new gloves used to be leather slipperyness. So I sandpapered the inside fingers and palm of the glove (not the web though) for 2 min, moisten a cloth and wipe it down and then oil it. Sometimes product/preservatives made the leather slick.
Thanks riv🙏🏼 really helped me out!
Bryce Peoples cheers bud! Glad I could help!
Hey is it okay if you can do a whole video on the best baseball gloves for good deal I have a
rawings glove right now Outfield I'm not sure if I should go upgrade right now
I have a Wilson outfield glove and a Rawlings first baseman’s glove. I love both😀
Jdubs48 IT IS FORBIDDEN TO USE RAWLINGS AND. WILSON IN THE SAME SENTENCE!!
Yessir the Rawlings first baseman’s are just too perfect but I couldn’t imagine not having my custom b2 for pitching lol
I’m not going to lie I used to be a Rawlings guy, but a ton of Wilson gloves were around the Rawlings gloves and one day made the transition and I’m not regretting it
Thanks made sense didn't really want to put the mitt in the microwave oven
Great video helped me brake in my new glove. Thanks
That a2000 that you played catch with twice that is the niced a2000 I've ever seen
Man I'm not gonna lie during this video I had a wtf moment. Like what is going on here. Since a kid I was always told a floppy worn in glove was better! My glove got oiled before every season too. But my glove was nicely conditioned and soft but deff wouldn't just stay open like any of these but it wasn't forced closed it was just so soft, broke in and conditioned and I loved it! Not sure what I would do with a glove that is stiff and stays open like that.. I guess my grandfather was just one of them guys who liked their glove nice and floppy and well broken in so that's what I knew and why I grew to like mine the same. Just makes me rethink a lot of stuff. Great video tho man!
I’m a huge Rawlings guy but I can appreciate good leather when I see it. Nice a200! Keep up the good work on and off the field!
i have a wilson glove. it is a wilson A 2005 it is a jim "catfish hunter" glove. size about 11.5. i knew nothing about gloves when i bought it i just liked the glove. i did not know hunter was a pitcher even. i paid $100.00 for it many years ago. i am now 76. i just watched a professional ball player say the first thing you should do to it is spray it with shaving cream with lanolin. rub it in and than clean it offf. the lanolin gives the glove waterproofing qualities. i have used vaseline on the stock of my mauser rifle to give it a good waterproof surface. i think that vaseline is okay to use but only about 3 or 4 times a year. like you say just use the minimal amount when you put it on. he said not to use glove oil too much because it will make the glove heavy. thanks for the video. it was informative for the gloves they are producing today.
I’ve been subscribed since this video came out and I came back to it today and went to a game and it helped so much thank you so much for making this my game has already improved a lot
Hey man,
I'm from Australia and I've been watching your vids for awhile. I was on your insta the other day and noticed that you play for Canberra. It's so cool that you play in the ABL.
Hey bud! Yea I played there for 2 seasons but won't make it back this season because I wanted to spend more time with my family. Maybe next year though!
I love the 1786 that you only played catch with twice. She is a beauty.
Even greater method: Shaving cream. Rub it in for about 10 minutes, tie it all up in rubber bands, put it under your mattress and sleep on it. And you do this for atleast a week. Consistently.
SirBensalotYT ! That won’t form a pocket correctly and not make your glove the best of its ability
It's the hard way
And though this method isn't easy, every second that you spend is gonna pay off, it'll pay off in the end.
This is stupid
Jrmy hndz its a bunch of like theatre lids quoting a play or something
I bought an A2000 Lorenzo Cain 11,5 yesterday and it’s already nicely broken in
Multi Gaming r u sure 11.5" outfield glove ??
Sheeesh!!! This man loves Wilson
Love the equipment videos, keep up the good work!
thanks Jacob!
My a2000 came about 2 months ago and it was ROCK SOLID. I don’t know why it came like that but it did. I don’t really have a problem with it but it’s still very stiff after 2 months (I haven’t been playing tons of catch outside because of Iowa winter)
It's the hard way.....But it's the right way!
You should've showed the a2k more ):
haha sorry Ryan, I'll touch on it more in other vids
Rivrat are you looking to sell the A2K?
5:55 You can see the dust flying off that glove 😂
He said “ don’t lay them down on their side bc they’ll last longer that 1 or 2 years “ he then goes on to say “ this one lasted me 7 this one has lasted me 5 and this one has last me 3” that’s every 2 years buddy😂😂😂🤦🏻♂️
Dude I thought it was Jacob deGrom lol really like the vid just bought my son a 1st basemen mitt help me alot to break it in
+Rivrat , Im about to get an A2000 catchers mitt in the mail, and I was trying to figure out if I should make the little dark mark in the palm (idk what its called lol). I think it has something to do with pine tar and burning it, if you know what it is/how to do it, please let me know thanks
Never thought about it but I'm 2 in the pinky too and index finger out ...…. 5 decades … also, used saddle soap to soften glove
Rivart. Big fan here. I play baseball what’s the difference between a2000 and a2k
cool videos, awesome insight into inside stuff most people don't know about. and respect for going as far as you have in your career. but I immediately thought of an athletic kenneth keith kallenbach when I saw this vid (r.i.p.)
Rivrat, I want that Wilson A2000 Black and Tan glove SO bad! I can't find it anywhere...any idea where I could find it?
Love my Rawlings too !!!
Your so funny and my fav youtuber
Great content dude I'm a big baseball fan thanks for the tips!
How did you get the palm stain if you only played catch twice 3:20
Thanks for the glove vid
yea bro!!
Great vid! you should do a glove collection video!
I just got a SSK and it’s amazing but one thing is the Japanese steer hide leather is SO STIFF
Good tips on flaring and keeping the glove open. Use Rawlings oil and beat the snot out of my 7 year olds new glove so he can now close it easily. Will flare it and leave open. Thanks
Rad-Dad I play outfield and I find flaring is bad. Ball can escape easier. I just used mine so much that when the ball comes in it folds over the ball and it’s impossible to escape
I also go through a glove a year because of the catching. But all star is the best catcher glove in my opinion.
I've actually heard all star is solid gloves for catching from a few catching buddies. keep grinding Thomas!
Rivrat yeah I love it man. If you are ever in the Atl area hit me up. Would love to play some catch
Loved the video hopefully I’ll be getting a new a2000 soon I have one right now but I bought it used and it was already a pan cake glove so I couldn’t keep it looking brand new
treat that thing like your baby and it will last you a long time! keep grinding brotha
And I'd recommend nokona glove conditioner or Wilson mink oil instead of the Vaseline it will last longer and soak in better
I perfer the pinky flaired in
Same I've had a 1787 for 2 years now with thumb out pinky in and it is still in perfect condition
Good point man!👍🏼
hypebeast of baseball
Great video !!!
Does Vaseline damage the glove or no?
As a catcher in the world baseball league, Indy ball, I only play catch with it and shape it.
I like that!
Great video man thanks for the info
thanks!!! I just got a new glove and I need tips. :)
Yeah, but what model glove do you prefer?
The only thing bad about Wilson Is the thin laces and they split easily other that that they are great
Will it work with a catchers mitt
i use rawlings a rod glove for pitching and left then rawlings renagade for my catchers mitt
Shaving cream
Shaving cream?
Oh yeah you rub that in for about five minutes,
Tie it all up with rubber bands, put it under your mattress, and sleep on it
And you do that for at least a week, every day, consistent
Or just use a mallet and play catch
I love my wilson too i have a A550
Wilson a2ks are the best quality by far and it only took me a few weeks to break in
Is it just me or does his gloves look way too small for his hand?
is it fine to put vaseline on your glove?
Does this work for a catchers mitt
I like the brand mizuno for my gloves
Michael Hall me 2 it’s my second favourite brand after Wilson
great vid and info
I have a question to all those who use flares. Shat is it exactly the point of doing the flare, like what advantage does'nt it give you over any other glove?
Angel Pina some do it for looks and some do it because it makes the pocket bigger and easier to catch a ball
@@sammyaugustine5383 thanks Sammy I've always wondered.
it does not make the pocket bigger.. an infielders glove should be straight pinkie, straight thumb... in between that should be be bent fingers enough to fit flat across the ground to allow the largest area to field a ground ball with your fingers to the ground and palm out.
"So, now if that ball hits right there, it's going to kick off that way". Now, I know why I made a lot of errors. :)
How do you only have 1k you should have way more
appreciate that Gavin! I hope I can continue to grow and spread the word of baseball
I have a Easton catchers mitt and a Rawlings fielding glove
The two finger trick works so much for me because I have more power with my and
and.......
i’ve never understood bending the pinky out i get the thumb but not the pinky
Got my first a2000 yesterday and she’s stiff but I’m trying to work it
Rawlings is the best glove in the world … Wilson is the runner up though lol
Love all my wilson stuff. Baseballs, gloves, even my wilson sweat pants feel better than my other brands.
What team are you on this year
great vid man
Cheers Isaiah!
My daughter started softball and I was breaking her glove in wrong. Thank you for this!
The problem im having is that when I got my glove it was so dammn stiff I t was literally impossible for me to even play catch and close my glove, I folded it up with a softball inside for a few days and that just made it stiff and closed, I dont play baseball seriously but want a glove to bring to games and stuff so should I just get a new glove for like 100$ that comes soft and not so stiff or what??
BDGaming the better the quality the longer it takes to break in, you have to be patient.
How do you store your gloves in a bat/gear bag to keep them from setting flat? I enjoyed your video! Thanks
Randy Bishop if you have a bat, put the glove on the bat
Dot even put it in your bag and just carry it to the field
Rawlings is a good glove, lol Wilson is a good glove as well
Can I have one of the 1786 how much for it
Do you prefer Wilson Super Skin or the all leather
honestly Curt, I love both. Super skin is a bit lighter. but as far as the look goes, I love em the same
awesome vid
I love to have one of that gloves :( How I wish....
Thank you
I have that a2k
Mizuno is boss
ok, I'm still waiting for the "How To" of this video.
Would u ever sell any of them or trade for another a2000
Honestly I like Rawlings because of the overall quality I feel. I also think the Wilson’s leather are more cheap.
Do you give away the Wilson glove
Amazing thx
