this was the first song i ever heard by a trans woman when i was like, 12 years old, mentally ill, and freshly out as transgender. it proverbially lit me on fire to hear a trans woman speak about her experiences so frankly in song form, especially when prior to that, i kind of thought we.. just couldn't make music? really silly in hindsight, but i wanted to be a musician and for some reason i felt like being trans precluded me from that. so thank you! you showed me that i wasn't alone in a very lonely time in my life, and this song (alongside the rest of your work as Mom) gave me something to feel seen by when i couldn't fully get that from anyone in my real life family or peers 💖
