"Yeah, it hurt... but it didn't hurt as much as it did _every day of being ME._ " Man this panda might be the most relatable character I've seen in my life.
Well, the 5 main styles are the dragon, the snake, the tiger, the leopard and the crane, although including substyles, there are about 64 animal styles.
Right, and the reason there are so many pigs among the general populace in this movie is because they are one of the most common and numerous livestock staples in China and have been since ancient times.
You will absolutely love the 2nd movie. Guaranteed to make you cry 😂 I love how Po didn't learn the lesson from the scroll, but from his dad. A nice little touch .
The squeaky floor in the hall outside of their bedrooms is sometimes called a ‘nightingale floor’. Meant to defend against assassins. Those in the know, know where to step to keep the floor quiet. To hear the floor sing is a call to arms.
I don't think it is mentioned enough, but almost every move on the final battle isn't an accident it is all moment from his training. The first hit Po takes mimics when Po first hit the training dummy and got knocked into the course. The cookie, the woks, the falling down stairs fighting. There is moments from all Po's failings incorporated into how he wins. It is so underrated the choreography
Fun fact: Each character was assigned one animator. That artist only worked on his or her character. That way they were sure that the animation style would stay consistent.
I've always found Master Oogway's death/Transcendence to be incredibly beautiful, and I love how his entire charachter embodies the philosophy of Taoism perfectly. His name comes from the idea of Wu wei, or "effortless action," The idea that through meditation, clear thought, and even inaction, one can achieve perfect harmony in all things. Basically a "go with the flow" type of perfection of letting the nature and will of the universe guide you rather than using conscious thought. That's why Oogway is so entirely nonplussed by Po landing right in front of him and becoming the dragon warrior. In Taoism, there are no accidents. There is simply the natural flow of the universe guiding everyone. I think that Oogway, who we've seen has the ability to defeat Tai Lung easily, chose to remove himself from the equation entirely so he could give Shifu and Po the chance they needed to achieve their own form of mastery.
The funny thing is how accurate Po's resilience is. Pandas have ridiculously thick bones and the blubber acts as both insulation and shock absorption. Pandas will literally fall 20 feet out of trees instead of climbing down because they won't break a bone on impact.
Can't believe you haven't seen this Angela, this is SUCH a you movie. Every VA in this is so well cast, ESPECIALLY Oogway and Po's Dad. Just genuinely kind characters.
I have some of their voices burned into my brain. I recently tried to watch Deadwood and one of the main characters is acted by the same guy who voiced Tai Lung. So this whole time I'm watching a gritty western and keep expecting this saloon owner to suddenly say "He's a panda. You're a panda." XD
You know.. in latin spanish, when Tai Lung complains about the training to Shifu, the voice actor really give him a tone where you can feel the saddnes, feeling of betrayal and anger because of him not doing anything, that you feel sad for Tai Lung in that moment. In English it only transmits anger.
One of my favorite things is when Shifu finally realizes how he can teach Po, by using his own talents in his own way rather than what works for everyone else.
Tai Lungs’ story makes sense if you take it from the perspective of someone who was literally RAISED on the idea that he would become something great. And then out of the blue, being denied everything he was promised. Imagine dedicating yourself to a singular purpose your entire life only to be told that it’ll never happen before it even begins. It would drive a man insane!
He's the quintessential essence of Kung-Fu.. using what you have to your advantage. In the last battle he used all the things he learned through out his experiences. Using the woks in a cup game with the scroll was reminiscent of Shifu with the dumpling. Using a tree as a weapon or the firecrackers? All things he used to try and get into the festival area at the beginning. He literally is using the most powerful tools one can have in their arsenal.. knowledge and experience. He dreamed of being a warrior, and he had it in him all along.. he just needed to believe in that.
Tai Lung's name roughly means: The Great Dragon. In addition he was designed to parallel mythical heroes which is why he has gold eyes (the color the film associates with heroes (hence the Dragon Scroll)). Also he's a Snow Leopard because they are predators to both the Giant Panda and the Red Panda. Oh and young Tai Lung's VA is the director's, then 6yr old, son. Edit: 28:33 "Oh it's even worse. It's not even poetic." 10 secs later "There is no secret ingredient!".
i always feel bad for Tai Lung. brought up from basically birth to be the dragon warrior. constantly told he would never fail and would be the greatest. like he says "trained me till my bones cracked". how many years of hard work did he do training under shifu? how much pain did he suffer? he was filled with thoughts from someone else that he would be the best among us. a mythical being of legend. we see this happen to many golden children who get treated like a demi god only to fail at something then hit rock bottom. the way the movie makes it out to be after Tai lung did what he did he was thrown in prison. not one time did Shifu visit him. he was left for years in a dark pit. dealing with i assume abuse from the guards. abandoned by his father. Tai Lung is not only a Villain but also a Victim.
Even if the guards were kind or even indifferent to him (and there's visual evidence they weren't), being suspended in paralyzing agony for years seems...rough. Now, it's possible that his sentence escalated because he kept hurting people trying to escape and so the paralyzing harness didn't come along until later. The scene of him confronting Shifu is so mid-century Wuxia cinema combined with some real character moments. I believe that Shifu couldn't bring himself to visit Tai Lung because of his shame and disappointment. it would have been as much disappointment with himself as a failure for not teaching Tai Lung better, which would have doubled down every time he thought of his former student (constantly, with Tigress present). I alwso love that it's an echo of Oogwai's proclamation: one often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it. By hiding from his shame and disappointment to avoid metaphorical pain and destruction, Shifu faces the threat of physical pain and destruction when he is ultimately forced to confront his shame and realize it's too little, too late.
There’s other lore reasons for it, but Oogway recognised that Tai Lung had no self-belief; his arrogance was merely a front for his own insecurities and he thought the Dragon Scroll would complete him, but in reality he never would have been satisfied. Not with what it was, and not what he thought it was…
@@borjankosarac3645 not really. Dragon scroll isnt a thing. Tai lung would be furious and he was once he gets the scroll. All that was for nothing. its mostly shifu's fault. He should have taken his sons side. Ask why. Shifu did nothing. Like once he was denied by oogway shifu is suprised and never talks about it. Never visits tai lung. Oogway is also in the wrong. He kept tai lung in the prison about 20 years for no reason. He could have sended him to the spirit realm himself. He kept tai lung there so that po can complete his training.
The panda is a true glutton for punishment and snacks. There are some hilarious compilation videos of pandas falling from trees, stairs, balconies, swings, walls, and they always walk away seemingly unscathed.
I love that you always treat animated movies with respect for the medium, rather than writing them off immediately as "just kids' movies." And I love all your reactions! Thank you for sharing them!
It’s not revealed until Kung Fu Panda 3 that the Wuxi finger hold doesn’t kill mortals per say but it does banish them to the spirit realm, so the answer to your question is ‘No, Tai Lung isn’t dead, he’s just trapped in the spirit realm where he can no longer threaten the valley.’
Personally speaking, I love the touch that when Po first realizes the scroll is empty, apart from showing him his own reflection, he says "it's blank", hinting that even without the knowledge he expected to find in the scroll he sees himself as a blank slate that can be filled. Meanwhile, when Tai Lung sees his own reflection in the otherwise empty scroll, he says "it's nothing". Even after having become the first person to ever master all one thousand scrolls of kung fu, Tai Lung still sees himself as nothing without the knowledge of the dragon scroll. Another great detail showing how much Shifu built Tai Lung's purpose and destiny up to becoming the Dragon Warrior is his name. Tai Lung translates to 'Great Dragon'. It also tracks that Po is extremely food-motivated. In nature pandas spend 90% of their waking hours eating.
I, also, love that at the end, after Po tries to sit and meditate with Shifu, then asks if he wants to get something to eat, Shifu says yes. It showed that he was not stuck in his way anymore, and was willing to share in Po's way, instead of making Po sit silently like him.
He was a toddler when we first watched this, but my legendary son is now 16 years old and still… to this day, we still say “LEGENDARY” in a legendary way that only we understand and it drives his mother crazy.
An interesting note, according to George over at Cinebinge, apparently this movie had studio execs in China meeting together to try and figure out how America made a better movie representing China than they could. 🤯
It’s funny, Tai Lung is a snow leopard, which despite the name are actually not leopards and are much closer related to tigers. (You can see it in their faces) which makes his and Tigress’ little rivalry even more interesting.
My single favorite part of this movie is them looking inside the Dragon Scroll and their wording "It's blank" Po looks at himself and sees a blank slate, anything is possible if he can be the Dragon Warrior "It's nothing" Tai Lung looks at himself and sees nothing, nothing without being the Dragon Warrior
The Furious Five who were trained by Master Shifu are all based on styles of Hung Ga kung fu-the Tiger, Snake, Crane, Monkey, and Praying Mantis styles respectively.
@@funnylilgalreacts not really though. the physical body is gone but the soul is alive, just in a different plain. it's difficult to explain but they are capable of coming back from the spirit realm as well
Oogway is also up there with Sailor Moon's Tuxedo Mask for me in terms of a character who is beloved and gets away with doing nothing. My joke for Tuxedo Mask is that he always shows up, says some vaguely inspiring line to the hero, does *nothing* to actually resolve the situation at hand and fucks off, all while looking fabulous. With Oogway, he is serving proudly as a wise leader of his people...right up until he learns that Tai Lung has escaped. Then all of a sudden "oh no, my time has come, goodbye..."
You can kinda get Tai Lung and how hurt he is. He's promised everything by his "father" and he trains non stop to get it. Then he's told "no" And he sees his father turn his back on him as the last thing before he looses it and attacks.
Agreed. People argue "well the Furious Five trained to be the DW and didn't go crazy." They weren't groomed for that role from childhood, and also Shifu stood up for them and argued with Oogway's decision like there was no tomorrow. He made it perfectly clear he believed Oogway made a mistake. But he couldn't bother to speak up on Tai Lung's behalf?
Notice how Viper was the ONLY one who was never even unpleasant to Po? That is because she can relate to him. He is obese and thus disabled to a point. She is a viper who was born with a disability: no fangs. She was always sincere toward him and never said or did a single bad thing regarding him.
I didn't have any strong urge to see this when it came out... You know, "kids movie" ... But now,..there are particular moments from ALL THREE movies I think back to for encouragement.
This is why you gotta give respect to Po's dad, both Tai Lung and Po were adopted. Yet, Po recieved such pure constructive and unbiased love from his father. Yes, his father would have loved for Po to be a noodle man, but never forced it on him. His room is adorned with all his interests and favourite things and when he realizes Po doesn't want to follow his direction, he loves him just as much. Meanwhile, Shifu loved Tai Lung in a very toxic way, he wanted to mold him into this perfect warrior and did not allow Tai lung to explore his own interests. He filled his head with things that weren't even set in stone, telling him he's destined for greatness. Without specifying that Tai Lung is already great just for being born, just trying his hardest is great. He sheltered Tai Lung and when Oogway rejected him, he didn't even comfort his son. Tai lung didn't have a real purpose in life or a place he still belongs, he was still an orphan while Po had a real family. After the rejection, Shifu should have left the Jade Palace with Tai Lung. Not forever, but clearly Tai Lung needed to experience a world outside of Shifu's control to finally find himself. He didn't even know why he wanted to be the dragon warrior, he just had to be it. Just as he took Po to train, Shifu should have left with Tai Lung.
@@kmjkmjkmj Nah, Mr Ping isn't _pushing_ Po to follow in his footsteps. His enthusiasm for Po succeeding him was based on Po lying about dreaming about noodles. But as the son of noodle restaurant owner, it would only be natural for him to take over the family business, anyway. Mr Ping is just as proud about his son being a kung fu warrior as he would be if Po took over the restaurant.
I remember going to see this in theaters when I was 13 years old. It definitely had me laughing, but I also almost cried when Master Oogway passed. It was a beautiful way to go, and the music elevated what I felt. Then of course my favorite heartwarming moment was when Mr. Ping told Po about the secret ingredient. There’s no secret to success. The moral is that you just have to believe in yourself. There’s no cutting corners to success. You are your greatest weapon. And people may laugh about Po being Mr. Ping’s son, but family isn’t always about blood. Po didn’t grow up alone. Mr. Ping raised him, and that makes him his father. James Hong is always a win.
A surprise that turned out two equally enjoyable sequels. As a martial artist myself (Kali Silat/JKD Concepts/Integrated Grappling) exposed to many styles the film is a love letter to not just Martial Arts films but the various myths of Chinese martial arts that are often parables designed to impart wisdom. It's incredible the depth the film reaches, both accessible to children but with deep implications for adults. And it's hilarious and action packed. Can't ask for more.
The guy who plays Po's dad in this is one of my favorite actors. He deserves way more fame. I mean, he's been in freaking everything and he's a brilliant voice actor. But, even I can't remember his name. T_T
Well if you watched the tv cartoon series i believe Tai Lung was still around... so it kinda doesnt fit with the whole series but maybe there is a reason for it.
@@greentechgiraffe a handwavy retcon so they could use Tai Lung some more. That move is used to kill, as is shown later. Minor spoiler, but I'm gambling she's not reading any more comments on this video.
It was such a roundabout way to defeat him that being atomised was the only explanation that made sense to be; it really felt like an odd way to get around saying he was killed by the hero.
Glad to see you are finally diving into this trilogy Angela. Top tier, just like How to train your dragon. This film was actually directed by a friend of mine from high school, Mark Osborne. He has also directed The Little Prince and The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie(My shout out to him). Look forward to watching the sequels with you. Happy to see you enjoy this movie!
To be fair, the big post-credits trend hadn’t yet started; the MCU had only released its first couple of movies that same year, and audiences tended to leave when the credits rolled. Heck, I didn’t know of this film or the first few MCU post-credits until YEARS later.
I’m excited to see you watch the 2nd one. I literally ugly cry at least 4 times throughout the film, and you haven’t let me down yet on matching my tears scene for scene!
I mean no actual criticism But the more I see people react to this movie the more I realize there is no edit to this intro I can be happy with. I love it in it entirety and any being edited out is a crime. Such a perfect embodiment of Po.
Some people commented under a video of the scene where Shifu said "but a peach cannot defeat Tai Lung" and said "imagine if Tai Lung were allergic to peaches" and "what if Tai Lung choked on a peach" and that had me laughing for a full hour
So happy that you decided to watch and react to the second place winner in addition to big hero six which is another awesome movie. watching your reaction and comments was great. Kung fu panda is a written acted directed movie with sound to match. Glad to see you enjoy it too! Onto Kung Fun Panda 2!!!
The Fabulous Five are also the five styles/schools of Kung Fu - Tiger, Monkey, Crane, Viper and Mantis style. And they're actually animated to do their respective styles.
Well, you see... Mantis's style is based on one of the five kung fu animal forms, the Mantis. Tigress's style, however, is based on the Tiger form. Monkey is monkey, Crane is crane. Viper? You'd never guess. Snake. 😱
Yeah, this, and How To Train Your Dragon are two of my favorite movie franchises of all time, regardless of genre, animated or not. Loved your reaction!
Back when I worked at Blockbuster, if we wanted to watch any movies they had to be child friendly. This was one of our favorites to put on. It's just such a good movie.
This is the first part of a truly amazing trilogy, that deserves to be remembered for decades. A part of me is happy to know that they're working on a fourth installment, and a part of me is upset that they're going to be ruining an amazing ending, but not having it be the ending.
In case if no one told you yet. This movie is not a re-make but more of a re-telling of the live action "Drunken Master" 1978 movie with Jackie Chan playing the main character. Highly recommend to watch it. It is awesome.
Omg I'm so excited for this series its so good with so many good messages and I hope you love it as much as I do. Great reaction looking forward to the future!!💙💙
So there is no secret ingredient for the Dragon Warrior. Aside from darkness in your heart which is literally something everyone has. Tai Long worked so hard his entire life to become the Dragon Warrior and to make his father proud. As a result he molded himself into the perfect vessel for the dragon warrior. But because he had darkness in his heart Oogway denied him. At that point Tai Long had wanted to become the dragon warrior and do genuine good but Oogway didn't even give him a chance to overcome his darkness or even help him overcome it. He just said "no sorry all of your hard work was for nothing and I won't help you overcome your darkness so you can be worthy" Anyone in their right mind would be pissed off beyond belief. Oogway essentially pulled the pin on the grenade that was Tai Long's darkness and made it a danger. Fun fact that imagery of him attacking the village was added in last minute otherwise more people would have been on his side. And when Oogway stunned him they didn't even try to help him or change him (or confront him while he was attacking the village). Both him and Shifu could have kept him in line if he tried anything else. But no they just said screw this guy just let him rot in a horrible prison for 20 years and not even give him the privilege to move a finger. And when Po has him beaten and barely able to move what does Po decide to do? He decides to skadoosh him into oblivion despite the fact that he doesn't have the strength to fight back anymore. Yeah no Tai Long was done so dirty.
Tai Lung’s destiny was forced upon him by the only person who cared for him and when the time came that person said nothing. Like he didnt care. Like all the hard work was a wasted time. Tai Lung is paying for Shifu’s mistakes. “A child who never felt embrace of his village will burn it down to feel its warmth”
YES!!!! Can't wait for you to go on this journey. Po is one of the most relatable and heartwarming protagonists in animation. Kung Fu Panda 2 is easily the best in the trilogy!
I love this movie, and Jack Black did a fantastic job of bringing Po to life. When it comes to the fight between Po and Ty Lung, it reminds me of an old saying. "The greatest swordfighter does not fear the second greatest. He fears the worst." Po's style was a complete unknown to Ty Lung. It was, mostly, stuff that Po was making up as he went. Improvising with whatever was around him, and using his strengths against Ty Lung. His resilience, his rubbery flexible body that allowed him to shrug off and even redirect attacks. Ty Lung had mastered the 1,000 scrolls. Learned everything his masters had to teach him. He knew every attack, it's colunters, and the counters to those. That was why he could take on the five, he could predict everything they were going to do, after watching them fight for a few minutes. But Po couldn't be predicted. And Po was so new, that he couldn't read an opponents future moves, he just reacted in the present.
I love how the power of movies like this with its comedic yet deep words and brilliant actions, can cause a great smile and a beautiful laugh. Cheer's Gorgeous.x
Thanks for reviewing this. Kung Fu Panda isn't just a great animated Kung Fu movie -- its a great Kung Fu movie, period. Full Stop. The music, the message. It's great film making. Love your reactions/reviews!
Gah I just love this movie so much. Tai Lung is by far my favorite villain in the series. A deep character with a troubled past. Him representing all of Shifus faults as a teacher where Po represents all the positivity and good Oogwai taught him. That Kung Fu isn’t just strength and power.
This film is beautiful, from the art and animation to the kickass fight sequences to the heartwarming message of self-acceptance. Great stuff. The only small complaint I could really level at this one (at least off of the top of my head) is that they somewhat underutilised Jackie Chan as Monkey. Would not have minded him getting more lines. This film actually did so well in China that the film and entertainment ministry (or whatever, I can't recall the proper term) there had to study it to try and figure out why a western-made animated film captured elements of chinese historical culture, along with the hearts of chinese audiences, so well when their own animated features weren't performing nearly as well. Regarding characters names in this - The Five are indeed just named for the animal they are. Oogway also just means Turtle, and Shifu means Master, which is amusing.
The fact that you know Ian McShane from John Wick and not Deadwood means you haven't seen Deadwood, which means the next series you need to react to is absolutely Deadwood.
Master Oogway is my favorite character in this series. I also love that they have the whole trilogy figured out from the start. You can actually see a nod to that in the first scene after the dream sequence.
It was never my decision to make. I broke ribs and bones just for you (or something along those lines he screams at Shifu) Something tells me that Shifu knew it wasn't his decision to make yet kept filling head with the lie that he would be the dragon warrior. If anything I feel more empathy for Tai Lung than I feel sadness for Shifu getting his ass handed to him
This movie really lets Shifu off easy for how terribly he failed Tai Lung as a father and teacher. I get that Tai Lung never understood humility, but he was groomed to want to be the dragon warror to please Shifu. To top it off Shifu named him "Tai Lung" which translates to "great dragon". If Shifu defended Tai Lung with 1% of the same effort he did when confronting Oogway over Tigers, Tai Lung would have turned out different. Hell, even his apology was weak as he did it when forced too, he never intended to ever talk to Tai Lung again.
🐼👍 Beginning with their very first CGI epic "Antz" back in 1998, The one continuous ingredient in all Dreamworks Animation's features is to load all of them up with instantly recognizable A-list vocal talent. Some of their best movies aren't the franchises, but the one-offs like "Over The Hedge" (2006), "Monsters Vs Aliens" (2009) and "Mr. Peabody & Sherman" (2014). 😎 As for Jack Black, I don't know what movies of his you've already seen, but I highly recommend "Mars Attacks" (1996). 🤖
the funniest thing i ever saw was on twitter where someone wrote "Jack Black is what happens if you make a D&D character and put all your points into Charisma....."
"The secret ingredient is...nothing." Angela: Oh. Worse. It's not even poetic. 🙄 Me: Give it a second. "To make something special you just have to believe it's special." Angela: 😲🥺 "There is no secret ingredient." Me: Told you.
The second Kung Fu Panda is the best in my opinion. It goes much deeper into Po's childhood and where he comes from and I recommend to keep some tissues ready because it gets emotional!
This movie is full of jewels. - First and foremost, as Xyran Zhao says, there is this exemplary conflict of Taoism vs. Confucionism in Wugwey vs. Sifu. - This is not the first work we have of Jackie Chan and Lucy Liu together. They made Shanghai Noon too. - Also, this idea of "getting what you are good in and turn it awesome" is kinda of a trove in some kung fu styles. Even Bruce Lee's Jet Kune Do walks this path sometimes. - Maybe ironically, have actual masters struggling to win against complete unknowable people happens in chess. Professional players know how to win easily when faced by other competent players. When faced against people who barely know the rules, they still much probably win, but struggle a lot more. Same thing Tai Lung faces when fighting against Po. He has no idea how to win someone whose blows don't work upon. - IMHO, the actual plot twits of the movie, is that Tai Lung is the victim of the story. He was virtually tortured and had no other life goal besides being the dragon warrior. Sifu and Wugwey are the actual villains for making him what he became. Sifu for doing it, and Wugwey for his taoist approach in "doing nothing about it".
shifu made quite a lot mistakes... still tai lung choose to go the evil path... and to stay on it.... so don´t try to ghostlight him into a victim, he took his anger out on everyone, that had absolutley nothing to do with it... if his anger would have sayed on shifu and maybe oogway, ok.... but hee took it out on innocents... so it is tai lung who is the vilain...

@@Metzwerg74 In the said scene, Tigress says "laid waste to the valley". Tai Lung then shows up destroying furniture and... Houses? Again, no civilians harmed. Probably because of PG-13, but doesn't seem to me he was killing people around. Even the people around him in the flashback only flee scared of him, but even Tai Lung blows seem more aimed to furniture than actual people. So... His villainous act is... Vandalism? If he didn't kill people on screen, he simply didn't. The movie doesn't seem scared to showing it since Tai Lung himself is killed at the end. Also, probably not the better idea to go in a killing rampant for the title of dragon warrior. But yes, I give your conter theory some credit. He probably un alived a lot of people. But that is off screen so maybe people consider it invalid. Or not.
But yes, that's something the movie doesn't answer (because it don't need to answer). Can you re apply for the dragon warrior title? Like, yes, Tai Lung failed. Could he try again... After some time/quests/journey later? It maybe could be an interesting journey of redemption but they killed him before that. It could even (maybe) be easier than teach Po from the 0.
tai lung (spelling?) saying “it’s worthless!” or whatever at his reflection in the scroll after po explains that “the secret ingredient is you” breaks my heart. tai lung is such a well written villain. his fight with shifu is so stellar as well of course. his reaction after shifu says sorry, the way he softens for just a moment before shaking back into himself.. dang. when talking about great animation, this movie is criminally underrated
The movement of chi being cyclical, I think Po's style of "rolling with it" compliment each other perfectly. I think Po's style represents Akido with its theory of the redirection of inertia most closely matches. When Ugway transsubstantiates into pure energy, is even a mirror to what the "wushi finger hold" does to Tai Lung by forcibly dispersing his chi ie; his being/body, which is what I think the producer was trying to show the audience, from a distance, at the end there. They touch on the theory of the eventual culmination of human(animal) evolution with the ability of the mind to no longer need a physical form, being able to exist in a purely energy based state. Like in the movies "Powder" or "Akira". Even after a dozen viewings I still like this flick.

The first hit Po takes mimics when Po first hit the training dummy and got knocked into the course. The cookie, the woks, the falling down stairs fighting. There is moments from all Po's failings incorporated into how he wins. It is so underrated the choreography
Even the springing trees and rockets from his first attempts to get into the temple get in on the action.
yea the entire fight is made up of call backs, it’s supremely well done. there are no accidents indeed
Your reaction to the “Scadoosh” moment is the perfect response ever. Totally how I felt the first time 😂❤
Fun fact: Each character was assigned one animator.
I think that Oogway, who we've seen has the ability to defeat Tai Lung easily, chose to remove himself from the equation entirely so he could give Shifu and Po the chance they needed to achieve their own form of mastery.
i also like how the third movie evolves his character. wont get into it for spoilers but it was great.
The funny thing is how accurate Po's resilience is. Pandas have ridiculously thick bones and the blubber acts as both insulation and shock absorption. Pandas will literally fall 20 feet out of trees instead of climbing down because they won't break a bone on impact.
Thanks, I learned smn new today 🤝
Can't believe you haven't seen this Angela, this is SUCH a you movie. Every VA in this is so well cast, ESPECIALLY Oogway and Po's Dad. Just genuinely kind characters.
Wait until she sees the next one. Just as good as the original, but in a different way.

You know.. in latin spanish, when Tai Lung complains about the training to Shifu, the voice actor really give him a tone where you can feel the saddnes, feeling of betrayal and anger because of him not doing anything, that you feel sad for Tai Lung in that moment.
Exactly
Every time Zeng makes a quack sound whenever he hits something (the ground, a pillar), it makes me laugh. Every time. :)
i always feel bad for Tai Lung. brought up from basically birth to be the dragon warrior. constantly told he would never fail and would be the greatest. like he says "trained me till my bones cracked". how many years of hard work did he do training under shifu? how much pain did he suffer? he was filled with thoughts from someone else that he would be the best among us. a mythical being of legend. we see this happen to many golden children who get treated like a demi god only to fail at something then hit rock bottom. the way the movie makes it out to be after Tai lung did what he did he was thrown in prison. not one time did Shifu visit him. he was left for years in a dark pit. dealing with i assume abuse from the guards. abandoned by his father. Tai Lung is not only a Villain but also a Victim.
A tragic villain.

My single favorite part of this movie is them looking inside the Dragon Scroll and their wording
"It's blank" Po looks at himself and sees a blank slate, anything is possible if he can be the Dragon Warrior
"It's nothing" Tai Lung looks at himself and sees nothing, nothing without being the Dragon Warrior
Kung fu panda 1-2 will always be in the top 5 animated movies for me.
Funny, deep, heartwarming and I love the sound engineering

Oogway is another Uncle Iroh with his wisdom. I love them.
Jack Black + Animation= pure gold ❤❤❤
I didn't have any strong urge to see this when it came out...
You know, "kids movie"
...
Wish someday tai lung gets a second chance
Noodles. I'm reminded of Ringo from Blue Eye Samurai.
@@kmjkmjkmj
Nah, Mr Ping isn't _pushing_ Po to follow in his footsteps.

Tai Lung is, in the words of Thanos, "Gone. Reduced to atoms." As Shifu said, the hardest part about that finger hold is cleaning up afterwards.
Well if you watched the tv cartoon series i believe Tai Lung was still around... so it kinda doesnt fit with the whole series but maybe there is a reason for it.

It was such a roundabout way to defeat him that being atomised was the only explanation that made sense to be; it really felt like an odd way to get around saying he was killed by the hero.

It's not really explained in the movie, but the Wuxi finger hold sends the victim to the spirit realm / afterlife directly.
And Po’s moves are more like chaotic-mess rather than the typical Kung Fu method
I love how the power of movies like this with its comedic yet deep words and brilliant actions, can cause a great smile and a beautiful laugh. Cheer's Gorgeous.x

The Five are named and styled after five styles of Kung Fu. Thats why their names are just their species while everyone else has names.

R.I.P. Michael Clarke Duncan.

Sifu for doing it, and Wugwey for his taoist approach in "doing nothing about it".
shifu made quite a lot mistakes... still tai lung choose to go the evil path... and to stay on it.... so don´t try to ghostlight him into a victim, he took his anger out on everyone, that had absolutley nothing to do with it...
if his anger would have sayed on shifu and maybe oogway, ok.... but hee took it out on innocents... so it is tai lung who is the vilain...

and he spared the messenger, because he needed him to spread the word of his return..
and by the way, tai lung never mastered kung fu,
he excelled at the ways of the exterior kung fu, thechnic, strenth, agility and focus
but completely neglected the inner ways of kung fu, theself discipline, thecalmness and the acceptance....
so because of that, he truly was not worthy of the dragon scroll.
but instead of asking himself, where did i fall short...
he deceided to lash out at everything, blaming his shortcomings on others and striking at everything in reach...
The finger hold send him to The spirit world 😂😂😂😂you will love The second one sooooo much❤❤❤❤
The movement of chi being cyclical, I think Po's style of "rolling with it" compliment each other perfectly.
