- This video is not monetized, and all pieces used have been trimmed/edited/mixed. The pieces were composed by Neil Davidge (of 343 Industries circa 2012 for Halo 4) and by Kazuma Jinnouchi (of 343 Industries circa 2015 for Halo 5: Guardians). I doubt saying these things will stop potential copyright strikes, but it was worth a shot... :P
Ah, Mantis and a Walk Softly. Imo, these tracks are prime examples of what you can do when you take your soundtrack's existing themes and have some fun remixing/repurposing them. They each did a fine job retooling their respective themes into tracks that perfectly encapsulate stomping around in an unstoppable mech suit. Figures I'd want to make a mini-medley out of them!
Now you may perhaps recall that I did tease the idea of this mini-medley several months back on another video. While that comment was intended to be humorous, I really was trying to get these two tracks to fit together at the time, but it just wasn't coming together like I'd hoped. In fact, I'm pretty sure this is the fourth time in the past year I've attempted to come back to this mini-medley. Even though they seem so similar to one another in premise, their stark contrasts become apparent once you start trying to place them side by side (or even end to end). To get this to work, I decided to mix the two for the intro and ending (as they're the most similar during these sections), and strategically placed their middles end to end between the mixes. [For an example of that placement strategy: the reason why I left the first string section of Walk Softly at the beginning (before the first Mantis theme kicks in) was because it mirrors what Walk Softly does in its climax.] Furthermore, I did some minor duplication of parts of the tracks so that their timing would match up in both the intro and ending.
Anyway, despite the many setbacks this mini-medley has seen over the past year, I'm pretty satisfied with the end result! Enjoy! :)

I think I feel more unstoppable in a Mantis than I ever did in a scorpion. 343 undoubtedly created an unforgettable vehicle. Nice remix!
Grant Johnson Thanks! And yeah, it's definitely my favorite vehicle that 343i introduced! :D
Its definitely on par with the Halo 2 bridge scorpion soundtrack.
Both have their strengths for sure, though I think that a Scorpion is still the supreme "GET OUT OF MY WAY" vehicle.
SodaSaint Commentaries but you gotta think the mantis was perfect for blitzkrieg type moments especially in numbers yeah the scorpion is a behemoth the mantis is a dreadnought a group of them can brutally destroy a pack of scorpions
@@monikai43 Depends on the terrain. If it's wide open, the Scorpion's main cannon will obliterate the mantises before they get a chance at a clean shot. If the mantises have cover, however, they'll slowly but surely advance and get an angle on the Scorpions that they can't deal with.
1:14 alwaysss the best part.
Yes!!!
Naw I think @ 1:53 is when it actually hits. Feels more like a dire situation that needs to be handled
If this doesn't make you feel powerful & playing very aggressive in the Mantis smashing everything in your path without taking shield cover, hearing the rhythms match with the Mantis stomp walking all over the place. I don't know a single soundtrack in history that would match it.
This soundtrack is the Mantis one like the Bridge one in Halo 2 with is the Scorpion's. 😂
every time I hear this, my troubles are the jackel, and I'm the guy in the Mantis.
Mantis was the only new addition in the halo 4 and 5 that I actually liked, and not only did I just like it, I honestly want it again in a future halo game
I’m surprised it ended up not coming back for Infinite (not even just for campaign). I hope they eventually add it in an future update or something.
Same, even if it got changed up a lot. I’m sure the infinity would’ve had some mantises onboard so hopefully during a future dlc of sorts or in the multiplayer we’ll get them
A UNSC Mantis mech and its theme were AWESOME that I played.
Even though I don’t particularly like Halo 5, it has some dope ass music when used correctly. This remix was amazing; You deserve way more attention and traffic on RUclips!
Mantis is better than walk softly
Matthew Hagerty The way I see it, it depends on what you're looking for in a track. The former does a way better job as a remix, while the latter does a better job at emphasizing the original aspects over the remixed ones (though that's just my opinion). :)
Mantis has parts of the track 117 in it while Walk Softly has parts of the Osiris Suite in it. I like them both personally.
You can teabag with the Metal gear mantis, HW2 mantis variants were awesome, H4 mission 4 with mantis is totally OP.
Halo 4 Mantis is unforgettable
old halo music is still better but I gotta admit this is a good mix
For all those times when you just want to crush all your enemies like bugs! _Literally!_
Wow. I got a crazy adrenaline rush and chills
this music makes me so pumped up!!!
Josh I am bing watching all your mixes.
Yeah no kidding when in those you feel unstoppable that is until someone climbs on your back and beats the living shit outa you
holy crap, you somehow managed for this piece to sound like some soundtrack from Mass Effect
Halo 4 is in my opinion, the 3rd best Halo game to ever release. I have no idea why people diss this game so much, it is actually a masterpiece( yes, i have played the campaign)
These are very well mixed together, I love it!
Making slaughters with a mantis!
That Halo Online music at the end...
It’s a really underrated theme in my opinion! :)
I hope the Jackal in Halo Infinite will return to the original design x)
Love your mix, like always good sir
Personally, I’m fairly neutral on the jackal redesign. If resources could allow, I like the idea of the reptilian jackals being the shield bearers while the avian ones are the snipers (but that’s just me :P )
Thanks for watching btw! :)
@@josh11735 yes, I remember HiddenXperia say something similar, and I understand the thought
. The New design seems more "feral" when the original is more "thin & civilised" so why not ?
Well it did
@@chipsdubbo1510 And now both Jackals and Skirmishers alike speak perfect English in Infinite.
absolute genius music, i could listen to this forever
Hoping HAlo Infinite would have some awesome music as well 🔥💪
Nice combination
Thanks! I’m glad you liked it! :)
epicness level overload
I put this on Loop playing BTB
Good mix!
Cherry Bomba Thanks! :D
Nice mix!
Ace Skeletonne Thanks! Glad you enjoyed! :)
Well done, Chief
Walk softly ?? Who even does this when using Armored Walking Death Chicken , nice mix
1:14 sounds like CSGO here
Wait, did you mixed "Mantis" and "Walk Softly" together?!
Indeed I did! :P
Walk Mantis
Mantis Softly.
Exactly how is this existing if this was "composed"?
What do you mean?
You should get the reference?
OH I didn’t realize you were referencing at first, haha I get it
I can’t tell the difference, it’s sounds like it’s just the halo 5 mantis theme
Main difference between the two tracks is that one utilizes the 117 theme from H4 and the other utilizes the Osiris Suite Act III theme from H5. For example, you don’t hear 2:33 to 3:41 in “Walk Softly” and you don’t hear 3:41 to 4:20 in “Mantis.”
Hope that clears it up! :)
@@josh11735 thanks dude 👍🏻
Only best thing that came from halo 4 the mantis
This is the best part 2:28
What is the music at the end?
The outro music is for Halo: Online’s main menu (back when it was in alpha/beta). To my knowledge, it’s titled “Anvil” and was composed by Tom Salta. Here’s the full version: ruclips.net/video/2HVQzAAUhkQ/видео.html
Can I buy this peice of art for my walls?!
The art is the cover of a Halo comic (Halo: Escalation; Issue 15). I assume the art is owned by Dark Horse Comics, and I’m not sure if they do prints of the cover art.
Here’s the link to the Halopedia page if you want to see the full art image: www.halopedia.org/File:Halo_Escalation_15.jpg
Poor jackal LOL he didn't know what was coming to him...
ngl the mantis themes are some of the best music in halo
The mantis is like halfway between an AT-ST from star wars and a titan from titanfall
I love playing terminus firefight with sergeant Johnson holding off an entire army of flood with an army of colossus nighthawks mantises and wolverines with this playing
Everybody gangsta til the Plasma Pistol comes out.
This is my favorite ost that 343 made , its awesome!
Nice remix btw 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Dude, this is waaaaay better than the original!!! I love it!!!!
hi i reacently found your channel and i think u are great, also i subbed
Taco Speed Thanks! :D
np
The Overdramatic Incredibles people
You took what I love about this thing and then you got what I love about that thing and you used them to make a completely awesome...thing!
Eso lo use en un video 😂
1:42 I really feel like there should be a more grand end to that build up, it feels lackluster and unsatisfying
I agree that it could’ve had something stronger to pay off that buildup, but unfortunately the lack thereof is inherited from the original tracks. I might have been able to cut past the ‘lackluster’ parts and went straight into the 117 section, but then I don’t think there’d be room to use the first string section of Mantis (which mirrors the climax of Walk Softly very well). Idk, I’d have to mess with the order a bit to see how it sounds.
I think it works perfectly. Great work!
1.75 speed
do it it epicc
can you make a 1 hour loop of this without your intro and outro?
OG Halo 4 Mantis or Halo 5 Mantis?
If you’re asking my favorite vehicle of the two, mine’s probably H4’s (assuming we aren’t counting REQ variants). If your asking which track I prefer, I still pick H4’s. :P
@josh11735 yeah, I was talking about the non req variant.
What's the song of the ending?
The Outro music is for Halo: Online’s main menu (back when it was in alpha/beta). To my knowledge, it’s titled “Anvil” and was composed by Tom Salta. Here’s the full version: ruclips.net/video/2HVQzAAUhkQ/видео.html
