You weren't kidding when you told me there was one colony that came out angry. It was a pleasure meeting you yesterday Peter. I followed your instructions with the nuc and will install them in their new home when the rain tapers off this afternoon. I anticipate a bunch of grumpy girls so will suit up and learn how to light a smoker.
“ I don’t like working with bees that act like that.” It’s like you just fired your star performer! 😂🤪 “ I’ve got a bee in my boot that I need to go remove.” Your demeanor is so calm. I absolutely love it! And, holy cow I hope I never get bees as mean as that one home!
15:05 🐝🐝🐝 i thought my bees are angry till i saw this one 😊 my bees are sheep comparing to those. they behave like this even you only open the hive. i wonder how they behave when you harvest their honey
wow that was crazy! i slowed down the playback speed on the tempermental hive and im at a loss of words how those bees flooded the top of the hive and then the sky... first year beekeeper here but never seen that b4 nor do i want too lol
Half filled supers can be OK to harvest if the honey is cured. I use a refractometer to check is the honey is less than 19%water but a satisfactory field test is...if you shake the combs vigorously and honey does not come out, you can harvest it. Otherwise it can be fed back to the bees.
Common practice if you have the space and equipment. Take your capped and uncapped frames, put them in stacked boxes off the floor in a sealed room. We put fans on the top and a dehumidifier in the room. The uncapped drys out faster. Last season we accidentally brought the moisture down to 12 percent. Thick and buttery is the way our tasters described the results!

Mean bees are no fun, I would say in my expeience I get about 1 in 150 hives go like that...so hopefully you will never experience it.
Omg that opener!!!!! Crazy
And some folks say "why do you suit up?"!!
@@BeekeepingwithTheBeeWhisperer yeah. Thats good to know. If i ever see that i'll run lol. I guess smoke is key
@@AmericansBee smoke can be a life saver!
Hi Peter, what do you do with supers that end up partially filled with nectar only at the end of the last flow for the year, Thanks/

@@MinnesotaBeekeeper I do the same thing in my honey kitchen.
You mean the Queen can cause these bees behavior to be bad?
If she carries genes for aggressive behavior or mated with a male with such genes yes.
